"I've been on several different types of birth control, and this one is my favorite. I switched about two months ago from Junel 1/20, and it has been amazing. My skin cleared up, my moods stabilized, my periods are far lighter. I know everyone's experience is different, but I love this pill."

"I have been on this for about five days and have experienced horrible nausea. For about 20 minutes after I swallow this pill through the rest of the day, and sometimes the next morning, I have a lump in my throat and non-stop nausea and bloating. It is absolutely horrible. I am getting off of this and going with an alternate method as soon as I can."

"Switched from Ortho Tri-Cyclen to Tri-Lo-Marzia because I mysteriously received a free renewal in the mail (without prescription). Weird, I know. It's been making me super tired, bloated, and depressed. I've been taking it for 5 days, and I'm going to stop taking it and see my doctor ASAP. I don't know why I got this free, unprescribed prescription in the mail, but it sucks."

"This set off my OCD, which I literally had not experienced in 10 years. I went off of it after 3 days of utter torment, anxious paranoia, and feelings of extreme shame and guilt. It's been 5 days, and things are starting to feel better, but I'm still waiting to feel like myself again. This was frighteningly terrible."

"I have struggled with my weight for so long, when my Dr. accidentally sent in the wrong dose birth control, I still took it. Lost 6 lbs that month but got terrible acne and bled forever. They put me back on a high-dose birth control, and I gained it all back. So we came to the realization that it’s my birth control, so we tried this brand, and it’s been a week, and I’m down the 6 lbs again. Not sure why I hold weight on high-dose pills, but this birth control is working so far! A little nausea, but I can handle that. I like it this far!"

"I wish I could rate this drug a 0. I wouldn’t recommend anyone to take it. I took this pill for about 3 months, and 3 months later I am still feeling what I believe to be aftereffects of coming off the pill. When I started the pill, I experienced daily headaches, then a really bad one that made me feel like I couldn’t fall asleep or something bad would happen... I guess some kind of paranoia. I developed severe anxiety, and I’ve never been an anxious person really, so this was one of the hardest things. I experienced brain fog, nausea, and just overall feeling uncomfortable every day. I also experienced serious chest pains that led me to believe I had a blood clot or was maybe having a heart attack. Since stopping the pills, I haven’t felt back to my normal self yet, but I’m hoping that I feel like myself again soon. I’ve just been experiencing some headaches, anxiety, and a very strange feeling in my head that I assume is brain fog as well."

"I developed severe food allergies when on this drug. My entire life, I haven’t been allergic to anything. Ever! I had 2 reactions at home after eating crackers (that I have eaten before). Hives head to toe, itching, swelling of my mouth and throat. Luckily, I had Benadryl on hand. I went back to college, and I was eating dinner when I had such a bad reaction (same as above, but also a hard time breathing and vomiting), I ended up in the emergency room via ambulance. Thankfully, my medical doctor and my naturopathic doctor both agreed with my mother and me that this pill may have made my system hypersensitive to either wheat or, more likely, additives to the wheat I had eaten. After digging around on the internet, I found that it can cause these reactions, though it is unclear whether they mean the pill is causing these symptoms or if it causes general allergic reactions."

"I've given this birth control a try for two months, and I have decided to get off of it due to the degree of nausea that I have been experiencing the first two and a half weeks of every new pack. I have also not noticed any positive impact on my skin, it's stayed the same. I was cramping quite heavily when I started the first month, and that seemed to dissipate with the second month. I have noticed that my period this month is significantly lighter. However, due to the nausea, I will be switching back to Ortho Cyclen (i.e., Sprintec) that I was on a few years ago."

"I have been on my period for 12 days, and I have never had cramps like I did with this pill. Having your period for 12 days is not normal. Do not take this pill! I’ve only been on it for three weeks, and I hate it!"

"I started this birth control in 2019, my very first experience. I would definitely recommend! It's helped with my acne and is also very dependable when it comes to avoiding pregnancy. It comes with a little pocket packet and stickers to track when you take it. There was one month when I lost insurance and had to pay out of pocket, but it was only between $25 and $40. And another plus? If you happen to miss one by accident, you simply take it the next morning, then continue as you would before. I am still actively taking this medication and plan to do so in the future."

"Honestly, reading these reviews, I haven’t had the same experience. This is my first birth control, and so far, it’s been okay. I had some serious emotional issues in the beginning of taking it. My mood swings were crazy, and I would cry and complain a lot. But then, after that, everything has been fine, and my sex drive has been a little low, but it’s still there. (My boyfriend helps me with that, lol.) But honestly, for a first-time birth control, I think this birth control isn’t so bad. It has even cleared my cystic acne, which was severe."

"I've used Tri-Sprintec for years with no problems, but was switched to this with insurance changes. Since beginning this generic, I've had bacterial vaginosis every month around my period. It's awful, and I'm in the process of switching to another birth control."

"Before I started taking this birth control, I had the worst PMS and periods. A week before my period, I would have intensified feelings of anger and sadness. There were so many crying spells. I would get bad acne around the time of my period. My period was so bad one day I had to leave work. So, my doctor prescribed me Tri-Lo-Marzia (one of the lowest birth control dosages) in order to keep my hormones in place. After 3 months of using it, I have noticed a little weight gain and I had to go up a bra size or two. But, it has protected me from pregnancy, made my periods so much more manageable, lighter, and minimal pain. I may get one or two pimples here and there. I think it’s great. * PS: I had my own personal problems with my weight before taking this medication. I was gaining weight before the birth control. This had very little effect on my weight, but I do think it contributed to my bra size. I still would recommend!"

"I've been on this over 3 years now. My first experience with birth control. It has done the job. 4-5 day light periods. I do feel more emotional on it, but nothing crazy. I am switching pills only because I think it could be contributing to my fatigue. I have a low sex drive depending on where I'm at in the pill packet. Not good for trying to skip your period altogether. I tried once and ended up bleeding for 10+ days. Overall, it's a decent pill and is effective at preventing pregnancy, but there may be better options out there."

"I’ve been on Tri-Lo-Marzia for a few years now. It cleared up my acne, and I never really gained that much weight on this pill. Normally, I would get bloated one week before my period and felt very irritable, emotional, and anxious. I’ve been dealing with a lot of lower back pain for quite some time, and doctors can’t figure it out. My X-ray and MRI came out perfectly fine. I realized, what if it’s this pill? I’ve been on different birth controls for many years, but I think it’s time to find another contraceptive. There’s been new research that being on birth control for many years can lead to chronic lower back pain. I decided to stop taking birth control three days ago. The lower back pain has subsided in the past few days. It’s insane, the side effects of birth control."

"This is one of the worst birth control pills on the market. I had increased anxiety so bad I did not sleep for 3-4 days. I felt bloated all the time and gained weight even though my eating and working out patterns did not change. I had bad breakouts, which never usually happen to me. It also messed with my contacts and vision. One of the worst experiences I've had on the pill, please do not take this."

"This was the first birth control I was put on, and it was primarily for the use of birth control but also for bad hormonal acne (I am talking those teenage years where you have so many different face washes and nothing's working, and you don't do any activity, but somehow 30 minutes after washing your face, you are a greasy mess). It definitely helped with my acne, that cleared up completely to the point I could literally almost sleep with makeup on, and there would be nothing on my face. I also swear I lost weight on this birth control. The downside, though, for my third week with the changes in drug ratio, I would get EXTREMELY depressed, like it wasn't great at all. I spent most of my emotional time on this pill balancing between I want to lay in bed and cry all day and I could really do with having sex right now. It was the weirdest thing and really not a great emotional place to be on birth control as a teenager."

"I like this birth control, I’ve been on it for about 4 months, and I haven’t gained any weight. My skin looks super good, and I haven’t seen any changes in my mood. The only complaint I have is nausea and stomach pain in the mornings."

"So I was worried about taking birth control. Mostly about side effects, but with the way my PCOS was acting... anything was better. So my experience was very good. I had to give it a little time, but I have found the drug to have regulated not only my periods but my overall health. Maybe it's the fact I feel less stressed about periods and pregnancies, or perhaps my body was desperately needing the right hormones to function. Whatever the case, after a few months on the pill I feel wonderful. With a combination of healthy, mindful eating, exercise, and reducing stress as best as I can, along with taking metformin. I am down 30 pounds (I was already working on my weight loss journey, and the pill did NOT hinder it). The only issue I have ever had was since the pill pack is a phase of 3, each week the hormones lower. I find myself at the end of week 2 and through week 3 with some slight PMS symptoms such as breast soreness. It goes away after the 4th week."

"I have been on this pill for about 4 years, and I would say it made me gain weight (10 pounds, nothing serious) and had a lot of fluctuations in my skin, but it overall helped my acne clear up. I have also been having unprotected sex for the last 4 years, and this pill has me starting my period on the exact same day of each month. I feel confident that it protects me, and I usually take it once a day at the same time, with the occasional missed pill, absolutely rarely. I think it turned me into an angrier person, but overall, I would recommend it."

"Gave me terrible cramping and excessive bleeding. Took it for about 5 months and stopped when I noticed I had huge blood clots coming out during my period, they were so big it was painful to pass. Didn't give me acne or any weight gain."

"RUN RUN RUN...... I know that everybody's bodies are different. I used to be happy before I took this birth control, and this wasn't my first either. This birth control has made me feel insecure, I overthink, I'm just depressed or angry. I actually feel like I'm going crazy while on it. I have gained 5 pounds in just 2 weeks that I have been on it, and I haven't done anything to change my habits other than my birth control. So far, I've been taking this for about a month now, and I know the doctor says you should take 3 months to get used to it, but I'm not going to sit here and do nothing while I am miserable. I have control over my own body. I'm currently contacting my doctor and switching back over to my old birth control, Sprintec, because I'd rather deal with painful cramps than suicidal tendencies."

"I took this pill for 2 weeks and 1 day, and I developed a severe cough and an awful rash on my stomach, back, and underneath my right breast. I’ve learned, as I’ve gotten older, that I am more sensitive to ingesting medications. Just be cautious and ask about all the side effects before trying this medication. It didn’t work for me, unfortunately."

"I started taking birth control for my painful period symptoms (cramps, migraines, nausea). I was originally on Ortho Tri-Cyclen, the brand version, but they stopped making it, I think, so naturally I opted for this one, I didn’t mind. It has helped a lot with my headaches/migraines. I don’t get them anymore. I still get pretty bad cramps and nausea, but I also credit that to my body always eventually building immunity to whatever pill I’m on. I have gained some weight, but nothing too noticeable or serious. I get occasional pimples along my chin/jawline, but again, nothing too bad. I recently tried being more prompt with taking my pills on time at the same time of day to prevent pregnancy since I normally just take it whenever I remember to (various times of day), so we’ll see how effective it is with that, lol. Ultimately, I like it. It’s done better than other birth control pills I’ve used before. I see a lot of reviews with hives and rashes; I have not experienced any of that."

"I’ve been on Tri-Lo-Marzia for 1 1/2 years now, and it’s worked well for me from the get-go. After getting the Mirena out (hello cysts), I waited a bit before going back to the pill. I had SERIOUS post-Mirena breakouts for a good 6 months, and this pill COMPLETELY CLEARED UP MY SKIN!! It didn’t change my appetite much at all, which was great, and I didn't have any weight gain aside from a little bloating now and then. I occasionally experience some nausea, headaches, moodiness, but nothing unbearable. Everyone's different, but if you’re dealing with hormonal acne, I suggest giving this a shot."
