"Switched from ortho-tri-cyclene to Tri-lo-marzia because I mysteriously received a free renewal in the mail (w/o prescription). Weird, I know. It's been making me super tired, bloated, and depressed. I've been taking it for 5 days and I'm going to stop taking it and see my doctor asap. I don't know why I got this free, un-prescribed prescription in the mail but it sucks."

"I’m about to start my third pack of Tri-Lo-Marzia and, honestly, no complaints. I’d never taken any kind of birth control before so was nervous. After doing research and reading so many complaints about the pill. But I haven’t experienced any side effects. No nausea, no mood swings, no abnormal bleeding or anything and my period is as normal as it ever was (still 4-5 days, not heavier or lighter). I started taking Tri Lo Marzia the first day of my period (not a Sunday) so not sure how much of an impact that has but everything’s been good so far."

"Overall, I was happy with this pill, besides the headaches it was giving me. I would get a headache while taking active pills as well as during the inactive week. My acne got better, although I still get flare ups once in a while. When I started the pill, I had spotting continuously for 2-3 months, but it stopped after that. For those who just started the pill, it's important to know that spotting is common, but it will go away."

"I’ve been on Tri Lo Marzia for 1 1/2 years now and it’s worked well for me from the get-go. After getting the Mirena out (hello cysts), I waited a bit before going back to the pill. I had SERIOUS post-Mirena breakouts for a good 6 months and this pill COMPLETELY CLEARED UP MY SKIN!! It didn’t change my appetite much at all which was great and didn't have any weight gain aside from a little bloating now and then. I occasionally experience some nausea/ headaches/ moodiness but nothing unbearable. Everyones different but if you’re dealing with hormonal acne I suggest giving this a shot."

"I was on Ortho Lo for nine years and recently was switched to Tri Lo Marzia. The first week I was fine. I am now ending week 2 and am bloated, nauseous, and have cramps. I NEVER have gotten cramps since I’ve had my period at age 12 (now 25) and I’m not even near my period. I am trying to have a positive outlook but I already am worried about this pill"

"This is one of the worst birth control pills on the market. I had increased anxiety so bad I did not sleep for 3-4 days. I felt bloated all of the time and gained weight even though my eating and working out patterns did not change. I had bad breakouts which never usually happen to me. It also messed with my contacts and vision. One of the worst experiences I've had on the pill, please do not take this."

"This set off my OCD, which I literally had not experienced in 10 years. I went off of it after 3 days of utter torment, anxious paranoia and feelings of extreme shame and guilt. It's been 5 days and things are starting to feel better, but I'm still waiting to feel like myself again. This was frighteningly terrible."

"I was switched to Tri-Lo-Marzial after having pretty bad side effects from other birth control pills. Immediately I noticed I was cramping, ALWAYS bloated, and crazy indigestion. I was hoping if I stuck with it, my body would adjust. I stayed on this 6 months before I had to stop. It's been almost 2 months since I stopped taking them, and I'm still dealing with indigestion and bloating."

"DO NOT TAKE THIS! I took this BC for a year, I was depressed off and on randomly and had heart palpations every night and randomly during the day. I never suffered from heart palpations, I went to a heart specialist and they couldn't figure out what was causing them since my heart was perfectly fine. I stopped taking this pill after researching the side effects and reading the reviews. After a month of coming off of it , I slowly started feeling like myself again, its been 6 months off and I haven't had any heart palpations in 6 months or any depression or sleep issues. Please be careful on this pill, I wouldn't take it, it's dangerous."

"I started this birth control in 2019, my very first experience. I would definitely recommend! It's helped with my acne and is also very dependable when it comes to avoiding pregnancy. It comes with a little pocket-packet and stickers to track when you take it. There was one month when I lost insurance and had to pay out of pocket, but it was only between $25 and $40. And another plus? If you happen to miss one by accident, you simply take it the next morning, then continue as you would before. I am still actively taking this medication and plan to do so in the future."

"I have been on this birth control for almost 2 years. I have been suffering from anxiety and heart palpations, depression and sleep issues during this time of taking this birth control. I thought it was due to stress but now after reading these reviews and seeing that my symptoms are the same I believe that my anxiety and heart palpations are coming from this birth control. I will be getting off to see if I start feeling more normal again."

"Honestly reading these reviews, I haven’t had the same experience. This is my first birth control and so far it’s been okay. I had some serious emotional issues in the beginning of taking it. My mood swings were crazy, and I would cry and complain a lot. But then after that everything has been fine, and my sex drive has been a little low but it’s still there. (My boyfriend helps me with that lol) but honestly for a first time birth control I think this birth control isn’t so bad. It has even cleared my cystic acne, which was severe."

"RUN RUN RUN......I know that everybody's bodies are different.. I used to be happy before I took this birth control, and this wasn't my first either. This birth control had made me feel insecure, I overthink, I'm just depressed or angry. I actually feel like I'm going crazy while on it. I have gained 5 pounds in just 2 weeks that I have been on it, and I haven't done anything to change my habits other than my birth control. So far I've been taking this for about a month now, and I know the doctor says you should take 3 months to get used to it, but I'm not going to sit here and do nothing while I am miserable. I have control over my own body. I'm currently contacting my doctor and switching back over to my old birth control, Sprintec because I'd rather deal with painful cramps, then suicidal tendencies."

"I would rate this a 0. The best possible description to how it’ll make you feel, which is scattered around a bunch of reviews, is “like you’ve gone crazy.” I’ve never felt worse than I have while taking this BC. I feel like it ruined my entire life. I suffer from anxiety and depression, and this BC has AMPLIFIED both. I have panic attacks, manic spells, depressive episodes, and every single day, without fail, I contemplate suicide. I’ve never been this bad in my entire life. I also have indigestion, which combined with IBS is a killer. It kills your sex drive, makes you irritated, and BLOATS YOU, oh my GOD. 0/10 do not even prescribe to your worst enemy."

"I have struggled with my weight for so long, when my dr. Accidentally sent In the wrong dose birth control I still took it. Lost 6 lbs that month but got terrible acne and bleed for ever. They put me back on a high dose birth control and I gained it all back. So we came to the realization that it’s my birth control, so we tried this brand and it’s been a week and I’m down the 6 lbs again. Not sure why I hold weight on high dose pills but this birth control is working so far! A little nausea but I can handle that. I like it this far!"

"When I first started this pill it was great, all the sudden I started getting emotional and moody. I would cry for no reason and get mad for no reason. I have been on it for a year thinking things may change but they didn’t. I would get mad at things I never would have before, I was always a care free person and as soon as I started it it was all down hill from there and it took me until now to realize it was the pill making me like this. It created a lot of problems for my boyfriend and I having fights maybe every 2 weeks. I’ve tried to explain to him this isn’t me and I can’t control it somehow. I would be fine one second and the next I would be a mess. Yes I haven’t gotten pregnant on this pill which is a plus but I do not recommend this pill to anyone who wants to keep their mental health!! I decided to stop today and I hope I see a difference in myself because I have really lost myself this year on it and hope no one else has to experience this."

"I was on this for about two years and it did help my acne but on the downside it made me very emotional. Not anything too extreme though, this birth control is fine for anyone who will take it responsibly, because I didn’t and it resulted in a month long period for me. But I also have several health problems including mental so honestly it wasn’t that bad (in comparison to other things I’ve taken.) if your prescribed this, take it. You’ll figure out if you like it or not. I did lose 14 pounds taking this though."

"I’ve been on this over 3 years now. My first experience with birth control. It has done the job. 4-5 day light periods. I do feel more emotional on it but nothing crazy. I am switching pills only because I think it could be contributing to my fatigue. I have a low sex drive depending on where I’m at in the pill packet. Not good for trying to skip your period all together. I tried once and ended up bleeding for 10+ days. Overall it’s a decent pill and is effective at preventing pregnancy, but there may be better options out there."

"I developed SEVERE food allergies when on this drug. My entire life, I haven’t been allergic to anything. EVER! I had 2 reactions at home after eating crackers (that I have eaten before). Hives head to toe, itching, swelling of my mouth and throat. Luckily, I had Benadryl on hand. I went back to college, and I was eating dinner, when I had such a bad reaction ( same as above, but also hard time breathing and vomiting), I ended up in the emergency room via ambulance. Thankfully, my medical doctor AND my naturopathic doctor both agreed with my mother and me that this pill may have made my system hypersensitive to either wheat or more likely, additives to the wheat I had eaten. After digging around on the internet, I found that it can cause these reactions, though, it is unclear whether they mean the pill causing these symptoms, or if it causes general allergic reactions."

"This was the first birth control I was put on and it was primarily for the use of birth control but also for bad hormonal acne (I am talking those teenage years where you have so many different face washes and nothings working and you don't do any activity but some how 30 minutes after washing your face you are an greasy mess). It definitely help with my acne, that cleared up completely to the point I could literally almost sleep with makeup on and there would be nothing on my face. I also swear I lost weight on this birth control. The downside though, for my the third week with the changes in drug ratio I would get EXTREMELY depressed, like it wasn't great at all. I spent most of my emotional time on this pill balancing between I want to lay in bed and cry all day and I could really do with having sex right now. It was the weirdest thing and really not great emotional place be on birth control teenager."

"I've given this birth control a try for two months, and I have decided to get off of it due to the degree of nausea that I have been experiencing the first two and a half weeks of every new pack. I have also not noticed any positive impact with my skin, its stayed the same. I was cramping quite heavily when I started the first month and that seemed to dissipate with the second month. I have noticed that my period this month is significantly lighter. However, due to the nausea I will be switching back to ortho cyclen (i.e.- sprintec) that I was on a few years ago."

"I have been on this pill for about 4 years and I would say it made me gain weight (10 pounds nothing serious) and had a lot of fluctuations in my skin but it overall helped my acne clear up. I have also been having unprotected sex for the last 4 years and this pill has me starting my period on the exact same day of each month. I feel confident that it protects me and I usually take it once a day at the same time, with the occasional missed pill absolutely rarely. I think it turned me into an angrier person but overall I would recommend it"

"I've used tri sprintec for years with no problems but was switched to this with insurance changes. Since beginning this generic I've had bacterial vaginosis every month around my period. It's awful and I'm in the process of switching to another birth control."

"I’ve been on TriloMarzia for a few years now. It cleared up my acne and I never really gained that much weight on this pill. Normally I would get bloated 1 week before my period and felt very irritable, emotional, and anxious. I’ve been dealing with a lot of lower back pain for quite some time and doctors can’t figure it out. My X-ray and MRI came out perfectly fine. I realized what if it’s this pill? I’ve been on different birth controls for many years but I think it’s time to find another contraceptive. There’s been new research that being on birth control for many years can lead to chronic lower back pain. I decided to stop taking birth control 3 days ago. The lower back pain has subsided in the past few days. It’s insane the side effects of birth control."

"I went on Tri Lo Marzia after 9 month off birth control. I was previously on Junel and my doctor said this would reduce the side effects I felt of mood swings. Let me first say everyone’s body is different however, this increased my mood swings and causes depression in only 3 months. I was irrational, sad, and fought with everyone in my life. Please make sure you have someone you love keeping tabs on your and being honest with you while starting any birth control pill. Consider counseling or therapy if you know you have a history of depression on hormonal contraceptives. If you’re feeling like I did, stop taking it and contact your doctor."
