"The worst! New gyno suggested after I specifically requested Ortho Tri-Cyclen L. On this, I gained 29 lbs in 3 months. I work out 5 days a week and can’t lose 5 lbs. I’ve been depressed, moody, bloated, severe headaches, having anxiety, and either eating everything in sight or not eating at all. And absolutely no sex drive. I do not recommend this product to anyone. It also caused my lymph nodes to swell up. Please be extra careful when trying these pills. I just threw out my pills in the trash..."

"I was on the Tri-Lo-Marzia generic pill for three months after Ortho-Tricyclen Lo brand was discontinued. The first month was as expected with a new hormonal birth control. I had headaches, stomach pains, and nausea. I figured I'd give my body a couple more months to adjust. In the second month, I became depressed and lost all control of my emotions. I cried multiple times daily, often when in public and without any trigger. I cried getting out of bed every morning. I have never struggled with emotional issues before this. It got to the point where I was seriously depressed. I am two days off of this pill and already feel 10x better. I didn't give this a one-star rating only because it did make me have nice skin and I didn't get pregnant. However, in hindsight, if I had to do it again, I may rather have gotten pregnant."

"I was on Tri-Lo-Nessa for a year before it was discontinued. I relied heavily on it since it kept my acne under control incredibly well. I had to switch to something else and tried Tri-Lo-Marzia. It has almost the same exact effects: controls severe cramping, reduces breast tenderness, keeps me from spotting. The one thing about this medication that has broken my heart is that my skin has reacted so poorly to it. I'm breaking out like crazy on my face and chest. It's like it never ends. I want to give this medication a chance, but it's ruining my self-esteem. I miss you, Tri-Lo-Nessa."

"Don't get this pill. I am legitimately depressed from it now after taking it for 7+ months. I feel so dissociated from myself because of it and psychologically don't feel well. If you've ever had bad anxiety or depression to begin with, this pill is not for you."

"I was previously on Tri-Lo-Sprintec and got off of it after a few months due to it making me feel depressed, emotional, and as well had a low sex drive. I was put on the pill due to cramps and previous ovarian fibroids/cysts. I now switched to Tri-Lo-Marzia, and even though they have the same ingredients, same strength, I just wanted to try a different brand. I noticed when I started I was getting horrible stomach cramps. I do feel more bloated now and put on a couple of pounds. But other than the on-and-off stomach pains, the pill has worked well. No breakthrough bleeding, sex drive is good, no pregnancy scares, period is on time, and my mood is okay. Overall, not bad. Been on it for 3 months now."

"I took Tri-Lo-Marzia for less than two months, and it messed up my life more than I can explain. I have no clue if it’s this specific brand or birth control in general, but I don’t think I’ll ever try it again. I stopped taking it in the middle of my pack last night because I had become just so down due to a psychotic break, even though before this pill I was the happiest person I knew. Please be cautious if you decide you want to start birth control."

"I've been taking Tri-Lo-Marzia for 3 years now. I recommend the pill, the only side effect I had was gaining about 10 pounds. I already experienced anxiety and depression, but the pill did not worsen it in any way. I get my period regularly for 3-4 days."

"This pill has been my favorite birth control. It has completely cleared my hormonal acne. I have been on this pill for 2 years and counting. Although I do get extremely tired some days, it is still worth it in my opinion. Also, I do not get depression or anxiety like other pills. Give it a year, if able!"

"I was on this medication for about 10 years. I never got pregnant, and my periods were very consistent, so it worked super well. However, about three months ago, I began experiencing horrible headaches during my period. My blood pressure had gone up, and I switched to Lo Loestrin. The headaches are now gone."

"Pros: Cramps that don't make me want to die, bleeding is okay, period lasts about 5 days but no heavy, heavy days like before. Cons: My breasts swelled, but get smaller if I work out. If that bothers you, then this birth control just isn't for you in my opinion. I did gain weight, not a whole lot but enough, and losing it is killer. I can get down about 5 pounds before I plateau with lots of exercise and a good diet. Once I stop exercising for a week, it climbs back up but never goes over my max. So that's nice. Before my period, I'm kind of moody, but I know how to regulate myself and make myself feel better. I do feel tired often and have trouble concentrating sometimes, but I can control it. The worst is my sex drive. I don't get wet hardly ever before sex, even with foreplay. Honestly, I'm not pregnant, I'm not severely overweight, and I'm not suicidal. Good for me."

"Worst experience ever. I have always been skeptical of birth control and never liked the idea of relying on a pill because of long-term effects. I decided to give this a try, and she gave me a very low dosage. At first, I was thrilled, and then after about one month, I started to wake up every single night at around 3-4 am crying and feeling incredibly nauseous. I would sit on my bathroom floor just waiting to throw up but never did. I also had no desire for sex with my boyfriend of 5 years now. I could not seem to get aroused and would be dry throughout the entire experience. It was really discouraging, and on top of that, I felt crazy. I was not feeling like myself and knew it was not like me. I would 1000 percent say do not go on this pill if you don’t have to. Do your research beforehand and figure out what works for you. Not going to lie, I am a little traumatized after this whole experience and haven’t been on anything for the last year now."

"DO NOT TAKE THIS. This is my first time taking birth control, and I have been taking this for two months. Tried to keep in mind that it takes time for my body to adjust, but I can’t take this anymore. I have been suffering from anxiety, depression, and panic attacks like never before, as well as nausea. I do not feel like myself at all. It is crazy, I feel crazy. Apparently, I am not alone in this either. I would recommend finding another form of birth control, as I am most definitely going to."

"It cleared my acne perfectly, however, my sex drive, umm. Also, I still bleed very heavily, so it doesn't lessen the flow. I can't even orgasm because of this pill, but I’m still on it because it grows my boobs and my acne is controlled - I now have clear skin."

"I'm 30 years old and was on Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo since I was 16. I absolutely loved it! No side effects, period was right on time, no acne, no nausea or anything. Well, I got on my husband's insurance, and they switched me to Tri-Lo-Marzia, saying it's the same, just generic. Yeah right, I started taking it in June or July, and since then, I've been in the ER twice because of panic attacks, and all of my organs were infected and inflamed. I finally got that taken care of except for the panic attacks. I had to quit working, I don't want to see my family anymore, I can't go to the movies, which I used to go to every weekend since I was 4. The only good thing about this pill: yes, I get my period on time, no heavy bleeding, and I'm not pregnant. But I have to switch, I can't take these panic attacks anymore, it's not who I am at all."

"I had taken Tri-Lo-Spintec for about a year, and then they changed it to Marzia because of some changes in the insurance, but they told me that since they both had the same ingredients, they should work the same. NOT AT ALL. At first, I was excited because on the other one I would get a bit of a headache on the first day of the pack, and it didn’t happen with Marzia. Still, four or five days after I started taking them, I started developing some discomfort in my vagina and eventually got a vaginal yeast infection. I couldn’t believe it since I take very good care of my hygiene. It came back the next month that I took a pack. Also, my period came a week late, lasted two more days than usual, and I had some pain (three things that are not usual in me). Sex has also been very uncomfortable. Definitely not my best experience."

"I got switched to this by my pharmacy when Trinessa Lo was discontinued. I’m finishing my third pack and have had a terrible experience with this pill! I’m 27 and have had breakouts in places on my face that have never broken out before. I feel more depressed and anxious than ever. My head feels foggy and I just don’t feel like myself. Not to mention my period is still irregular-sometimes not coming until 4 days into the placebo week, or this time coming 4 days before the Sunday of the placebo week. Not good when part of the reason for taking it is to regulate. I tried to give this brand a chance but am switching ASAP, maybe even to IUD since I can’t find a brand. Anything but Tri-Lo-Marzia."

"Been taking it for about 3 years now with a 2-month gap of not taking it after about 1 year in. I had very light periods (but mine were not heavy to begin with) and never really experienced cramping (I did previously have cramps). I was very good with taking it on time in the beginning but got lazier over time. Although I was not always on time, I didn’t worry about getting pregnant because it was effective. As for mood swings, I was slightly depressed on and off throughout the years, but I can’t tell if it was the BC or just me. Overall, a great birth control."

"In the beginning of taking this BC, it was not too bad. After a few months, I started experiencing side effects. I get cramps so bad I have to stop walking or stop any movement I'm making and just freeze until they go away. I also feel like I'm tired all of the time. Recently, I have been experiencing headaches and bloating. I've also noticed that ever since I have been on this birth control, I have an extremely low sex drive. I never did gain any weight, but I have been battling with crazy cravings. I have always had very bad hormonal acne, and after being on this birth control, I have noticed it cleared up some but not completely. I would be cautious if you are on this birth control. Give this birth control at least 3 months for your body to adjust. For me, I have given it a year, and it just keeps getting worse."

"My pharmacy switched me from Tri-Lo Sprintec to this because it was free on my insurance. I am on month 3. For me, the positives are that I've lost the weight I gained on Tri-Lo Sprintec, and I am no longer bloated all the time. However, my mood, which was even and calm before, changed immediately on this pill. My mood changes in an instant, and I've had several breakdowns and severe anxiety, which almost never happens to me. I am also starting to experience hair thinning and inflamed pimples all over my chin and cheek area, which was never an issue before, not since I took Accutane. I am switching after this pack to brand-name Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo with the hopes that my skin clears back up and my mood stabilizes."

"Honestly, I didn’t love Tri-Lo-Marzia. It did nothing to help my acne, I gained a little water weight (5 lbs), and I experienced spotting every month after the second week of each pill pack. However, I am not pregnant, and my period is extremely light. Before starting this birth control, I used to get terrible cramps and nausea during my periods, and those things have really improved, so that’s a definite upside to Tri-Lo-Marzia. There are pros and cons, but I’m looking to switch now to something different."

"I was on Ortho Lo for nine years and recently was switched to Tri-Lo-Marzia. The first week, I was fine. I am now ending week 2 and am bloated, nauseous, and have cramps. I NEVER have gotten cramps since I’ve had my period at age 12 (now 25), and I’m not even near my period. I am trying to have a positive outlook, but I already am worried about this pill."

"I’m the type of person who reads reviews when trying a new medication, so when I was prescribed this and saw all the reviews, I was immediately anxious. I tried to remember everyone’s body is different, so I began taking it. The first few days were okay. On the sixth and seventh day, I started getting heart palpitations, which I could feel in my wrists and chest, as well as extreme anxiety and moodiness. On the eighth day, I had to call my doctor because the palpitations and anxiety were so intrusive that I couldn’t focus on work. I stopped, and two days later, I’m feeling back to my normal self again. Don’t take this!"

"I was switched to Tri-Lo-Marzia after having pretty bad side effects from other birth control pills. Immediately, I noticed I was cramping, always bloated, and crazy indigestion. I was hoping if I stuck with it, my body would adjust. I stayed on this 6 months before I had to stop. It's been almost 2 months since I stopped taking them, and I'm still dealing with indigestion and bloating."

"I’m about to start my third pack of Tri-Lo-Marzia and, honestly, no complaints. I’d never taken any kind of birth control before, so I was nervous. After doing research and reading so many complaints about the pill. But I haven’t experienced any side effects. No nausea, no mood swings, no abnormal bleeding or anything, and my period is as normal as it ever was (still 4-5 days, not heavier or lighter). I started taking Tri-Lo-Marzia the first day of my period (not a Sunday), so not sure how much of an impact that has, but everything’s been good so far."

"Overall, I was happy with this pill. Besides the headaches it was giving me, I would get a headache while taking active pills as well as during the inactive week. My acne got better, although I still get flare-ups once in a while. When I started the pill, I had spotting continuously for 2-3 months, but it stopped after that. For those who just started the pill, it's important to know that spotting is common, but it will go away."
