For Birth Control "My body had a very bad reaction to this. I only took it for two days, and I began to experience severe side effects, including: insomnia, extreme depression, anxiety, nausea, irritability, and light abdominal pain. I felt like this pill made me into a different person. I switched to a different type of hormonal birth control pill immediately."

"Overall, I was very satisfied with Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo. I only got breakthrough bleeding for the whole of the second week of the first pack, and then that was it. It did not lighten my periods (if anything, they were heavier for a couple of days), but it did decrease cramps and nausea. I did have slight nausea (especially during the first week of each new pack), but it was more of an occasional annoyance, nothing disruptive. I only had one night in which I experienced extreme nausea, but just powered through this and hopefully it goes away! The only reason I stopped taking this pill is because I get aura migraines, and my doctor thought it best for me to try something different. Otherwise, I really was happy with this pill."

For Birth Control "I started taking Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo almost a year ago, and all it has done is make me crazy. The first couple of months, I felt nauseous and lightheaded. It didn't help with my period, if possible, it made it worse. My mood went up and down all the time. I felt anxious and worried all the time, and it made me feel crazy. I recently changed it, and I regret not changing it sooner."

For Birth Control "I have an ovarian cyst. I've taken Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo for about 2.5 weeks. I read so many reviews, all were so negative. I was stressing out about taking it. But to my surprise, and somewhat disappointment, I didn't get ANY side effects. No headaches, no nausea, no digestive system problems. I don't know yet how effective it is for my problem (ovarian cyst), but it didn't clear up my shoulder acne. Actually, it got somewhat worse. So I'm wondering if it's actually working for me. Don't know how it works as birth control, somewhat scared of getting off the condoms. As for the price, I had to pay $70 for one month, which is a lot for me. I'm 17, about 5'2”, about 115-120 lbs. Hope this helps!!"

"I've been using this pill for three weeks now. I've experienced no side effects at all. No nausea, headaches, cramps, weight gain, or spotting. It doesn't feel like anything has changed. Actually, I think I noticed mild mood swings. I can get really mad from a small comment. My period should start any day now, so I'm curious to see if it will be lighter with less cramps."

For Ovarian Cysts "I didn't know what to classify my condition because it's many things. Birth control, acne, horrible periods, anemia, ovarian cysts, etc. BC has always made me very, very sick to the point where I couldn't take it because of all the vomiting and dizziness. I've tried five different ones, and this is the best by far. The first month was rough, very nauseous, felt like I was pregnant again. Slowly improved. Then the second night of every pack, for some reason, I'd get sick. But I kept hanging in there. My face broke out like CRAZY, even worse than usual. I have bad hormonal acne for years. Fast forward one year, and now my skin is awesome, and periods went from being super heavy for two weeks to only four days. Helped with my 24/7 cramps and cysts. Love it. Hang in there!"

For Birth Control "I took this pill for about a month. And in that month, I thought I was doing fine. No mood swings, nausea, headaches, not as much acne. But then my mom pulls me out of my room one day and tells me that I was gaining weight. I thought I had noticed it, but thought it was just because I was eating a lot. Being on this pill made me overly hungry all the time."

For Birth Control "I personally have problems with most birth control, so I do not want to give Tri-Cyclen Lo a completely bad review, but do want to share my experience since my doctor will not believe me. Over the last year, I have been trying different birth controls, and when I first started Tri-Cyclen Lo, it seemed like the best of all the evils. I was quite nauseous and hungry all the time, but I tried to control this with really good food options and dealt with the feeling. Now, going on six months of Tri-Cyclen, I have found that I am extremely depressed, lightheaded, and dizzy all the time. The pain of nausea and hunger is constant and painful. I am at a loss of what to do since my doctor isn't listening to me."

For Birth Control "I'm about 4 months in, the first month was pretty dreadful. I was sick all the time, even to the point where I was throwing up. After that, however, it became much more bearable. Acne has somewhat cleared up, but I've also put on like 10 pounds, even with my active lifestyle. That might be because I'm reaching my 30s? I've lost some of my sex drive, though, which is a bit depressing. Cramps aren't as intense. Overall, I'm pretty happy with it."

For Birth Control "I have been on this pill for about three years. It was the very first and only birth control pill I have ever taken. When I first started, I experienced nausea and vomiting, but it went away after a week. One time I forgot to take the pill, and I was horribly sick for two days. Overall, the pill does work. I am not pregnant, it helps with acne a little bit, and it decreases cramps. I do have a decreased sex drive, and I am emotional. I am planning to change or discontinue the use of birth control pills, but as always, everyone is different, and I would recommend consulting with your doctor."

For Birth Control "I used this specifically as a contraceptive. At the beginning of every cycle (the first couple of white pills), I would wake up in the middle of the night with nausea. This would then lead to a couple of hours of throwing up. I also had severe headaches, mood swings, no sex drive, and I was bloated."

For Birth Control "I started this pill almost two years ago when I was sixteen and took it faithfully. I had a boyfriend from 15 to 18, and I never got pregnant, so that just shows how good it works. But on the hormonal side, I took it every night at 9:00 and didn't have to deal with nausea or anything like people say they get. It kind of helped my acne, and my periods were super light. The first day my cramps would hurt, but after I was good, and it only lasted like 3 days. Also, it can make your digestive system whack, so drink water. But, recently I have broken out a ton and been hormonal, so I decided it's time to switch! Wish me luck! (:"

For Birth Control "I am on Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo for acne and for pregnancy prevention. I started it on the first day of my period and experienced nausea for about the first week, gradually getting better as time went on. I am toward the end of my 2nd week of pills, and so far, so good. I noticed my skin looks clearer already, but my breasts have been ache-y and quite sore, and I have experienced some cramping/side/back pain as well with this. Had unprotected sex my 7th day of the pill (was advised that since I started the pill the first day of my period, it was effective at preventing pregnancy immediately, according to the FDA insert and multiple doctors), so we shall see what happens! No spotting or anything, which was a problem I had on the NuvaRing."

For Birth Control "I have been on OTCL for 4 months. The first couple of months, I had several bad mood swings, but those have improved. I still experience irritability and nausea daily and have gained 5 lbs. I feel bloated often and less energetic. My sex drive hasn't decreased much, my periods are light and predictable, and I haven't become pregnant. I get moderate breakouts, and this medication hasn't had any effect on those either way. I've tried worse, but I definitely don't feel as good as when I'm not on birth control."

For Birth Control "I've been on the pill for a solid 4 months now and have had overall no bad experiences. It has taken my body a bit to get used to it, but I haven't experienced mood swings, nausea, or headaches. It has helped me to regulate my period, even lighten my flow. I normally have really terrible and painful periods, but after the 3rd month, my cramps became more bearable. I have moderate acne, and it's caused my skin to become a little red, but it's starting to go away now. I'd say the only con is my period lasts about 6-7 days.... Maybe that will change later on. I haven't experienced weight gain, but I hope I do. But overall, I suggest it to women who have had bad experiences with high-dosage birth control pills. I went from YAZ to this and feel better."

For Birth Control "I've been on Ortho Tri-Cyclen for four months. My period used to be random, and I would bleed heavily for 7 to 8 days. I had horrible cramps and nausea. Horrible moody PMS. Now... light periods, 3 to 4 days. Same time. I've gained weight while on the pill, my breasts got bigger, but I was petite to begin with. No acne. At the beginning, I was emotional for the first month, but now I'm not. The only thing that is happening now is I have pain during sex. I would be ready to go, but once my boyfriend and I try, it hurts for him to put it in, and I'll have to stop because it hurts so bad. I'm making an appointment now to see the doctor, but I've heard it's because of the low dose of estrogen."

For Birth Control "I have been on birth control for three years, and due to weight gain, I changed from Depo to Ortho, and it's the worst yet. My period is very heavy, and the headaches and nausea are unbearable. I have come to the conclusion that I am just going to stop birth control completely."

For Birth Control "This is my first time using birth control pills, and it was for 2 reasons: preventing pregnancy and reducing forehead acne that always worsened around ovulation. I've been taking Tricira Lo (generic brand) for the past 7 1/2 weeks. Initially, I found myself more tearful, but that settled down after 4 weeks. I had one instance of a headache and nausea during the first 4 weeks; haven't experienced either since. There's been about 5 lb weight gain and some increase in breast size (not by a full cup though). I haven't noticed a significant difference in my forehead acne. It's still an issue for me, especially during the 3rd and 4th (placebo) weeks of the pack. I think this may be because hormonal acne more often presents on the cheeks and chin."

For Birth Control "On month 3 of using the generic brand Tricira. After having baby #2, decided to go back on the pill due to horrible hormonal cystic acne. So far, this hasn’t helped my skin at all. I also have constant abdominal pains and never-ending migraines. I always notice I feel the worst once starting a new pack. Nausea, bloating, etc. I have been taking BC pills for about 20+ years now, and I have never experienced all of these issues! Switching ASAP."

For Birth Control "I have been on this birth control for quite some time. I had many side effects such as weight gain, dizziness/lightheadedness, nausea, vomiting, severe onset of migraines and headaches, and moodiness. It was a great way to regulate my period and protect against pregnancy. I have been on it for 5 years. I stopped taking it for at least 6 months to a year, and all of the side effects were gone. However, I became active again and started taking it. I have been on it for more than 6 months now and have gained more weight, more headaches/migraines, more moodiness, increased dizziness and lightheadedness. It was a good way to start my periods regularly and to get them on track, but I can do without all of these side effects and being tired all the time."

For Birth Control "I've been on this pill for exactly one year, and only up until this month have I had problems. Throughout the duration, I got more moody and felt more depressed the week before and two days into my period. I get excess yeast exactly one week after my period on the first week of my pill, and lately, I've been experiencing nausea. It's manageable, just very irritating. My doctor suggested I switch to 'Lolo,' but besides that, this pill was very easy, and the side effects didn't last long. They just gave me bad cramps instead of reducing it."

For Birth Control "For the first few months, everything was okay, and I had no symptoms at all. The past few weeks have been bad, though, because I've been getting spotting, nausea, vomiting, cramps, and mood swings. My friend has been taking this birth control for 6 years and has recently stopped taking it due to similar symptoms. Not quite sure what to think of this B.C. anymore."

For Birth Control "I am 23, about 5'3", 105. Been on it for about a year now. Went to my doctor to get on birth control when I was getting married. She recommended this because of the low side effects. WRONG! Everything you read here is true! I threw up my first three days on this. Went away after a week. Had headaches, couldn't sleep well, very moody, was always snapping at my husband, crying at everything, had spotting, and worst of all, I had very low sex drive. I feel I could live the rest of my life without sex. Got off of it for a month, and things were so much better. I was already back to my normal self. Got back on it two months ago because of two reasons: it did keep me from getting pregnant and got rid of my acne. Have not gained much weight."

"The beginning of starting I was okay, just nauseous. But now I am having problems with vaginal dryness. I am 22, and it is horrible. I completely stay away from sex, as nothing helps the pain, and I am thinking of switching pills, as my doctor said I’m perfectly fine, just dry from the pill, and switching is my only option. It has made me anxious, insecure, depressed, and so overly emotional. I think I am done with this pill. Everyone is different, and I’ve had friends love it, but for me, unfortunately, it was horrible."

For Birth Control "I’m 22 and have been taking Ortho Tri-Cyclen for 2 and a half months, and it’s been horrible. I know you're supposed to wait at least 3 months, but I can’t. I tried to ride this out, but I just can’t anymore. I got on it because I have acne, and acne medication did not work. I constantly have foggy brain, can’t think, depression, irrational thoughts, horrible headaches, and severe anxiety. My anxiety is so bad now that I start shaking, sweating, nauseous, and feeling faint in some social situations. And my acne is worse. I decided today that I’m done being miserable. I just want to feel like myself again."
