"Today marks 4 months on birth control. My body has not felt the same since the day I started taking it. I no longer have cramps on my periods that last up to 2 weeks now. Although I do not have cramps during my period, the newly formed ovarian cysts cramp me up a bit. Also, the constant bloating and digestion pains aren't the best. There is a pro, I'm not pregnant... that I know of. I've found that constantly chugging cranberry juice while downing ibuprofen has helped with my unwanted cramps in my uterus."

"I've been in pharmacy for 17 years. I know the ins and outs of BC. Just because it is the same active ingredient doesn't mean it will react in your body the same. Every body is different, and every medication is different. I personally have been using Nortrel for many, many years. They switched me to Necon, and nope, not having it. Your body will react to something it's not used to. So if you start on one and they switch you to a different generic, chances are your body won't like it. I've had triphasic, biphasic, and other monophasic pills. I went back to my Nortrel tried and true. I skip placebos. Never any breakthrough bleeding. Periods are super short. No moodiness. I have anxiety in general, and this does not bother me at all. Cleared my acne. The triphasic ones I had made me PSYCHO. It is true hormones affect everyone differently. Don't be scared by the reviews. Try it, and if it doesn't work - switch it. Simple as that."

"When I first started this pill, I was spotting for a good month, I would say, which is to be expected because my body was getting used to it. Mind you, I started this when I was 13. This birth control really helped my acne a lot, and I was someone who used to be very acne-prone. Over the past two years of taking the pill, my skin got better, but it also got a little bit drier. I also noticed that my weight went from 145 to 170 over the past two years, which I feel like was due to the birth control. This also made me very emotional."

"I started taking the pill when I was 17 and began with Tri-Sprintec. I loved it, but after a few years, I started randomly spotting, so my doctor switched me to Nortrel because it had higher levels of estrogen. I am now 21 and have been taking this pill for about 8 months, and the experience has been awful. I have gained a ton of weight without changing my eating or exercising habits, have been getting horrible migraines, even though I had never experienced one until this pill, have been getting petechiae everywhere, and scary mood swings."

"Honestly, it’s a great birth control. I’ve been taking Nortrel for 3 months for my acne and cramps, and neither have been fixed, but I may need to be on it longer. I have become extremely emotional and would cry all the time over dumb stuff. Also, if it made me even more emotional, I’d feel the need to vomit because it was so bad. I don’t recommend it if you are currently depressed, however, it may make you depressed if there is stuff going on in your life."

"I loved this medication for a while before I made the connection that it’s causing me HORRIBLE frequent, 3-day migraines. Aside from the migraines, it did better than my previous meds, which caused acne. I was thrilled to get rid of the acne, and my periods are spotting at best. Sad to learn this is causing the migraines, and I’m switching to new pills today."

"100% do not recommend! 2 years ago I struggled with acne, and it cleared up, but recently started coming back. I visited the doctor to look into birth control pills to regulate my period and also help my acne. I've been on the pill for about 2 months now, and it has made me gain 10 pounds, and I went from having small whiteheads here and there to massive cystic acne clustered on my cheeks and forehead. This pill has also caused me to suffer severe anxiety, which I have not experienced before. I am definitely switching to a different birth control."

"I have been taking Nortrel for 6 years and have been the first contraceptive pills I have ever tried. I am 30 years old and have not had any problem or side effects. No weight gain at all. Probably the only thing would be a lighter period lasting 3 days, but I won’t complain about that."
