For Birth Control "I took this for over 3 years (age 17 to almost 21) and wish I'd read reviews and realized what was happening to me sooner. I've always been a nervous person, but my anxiety went through the roof on this pill. However, I blamed the anxiety on getting older and maybe the stress of school. In hindsight, it was definitely the pill. I changed from a happy, easygoing person to an emotional monster. I became easily infuriated and even hit my boyfriend out of rage (something I would NEVER normally do). I gained weight, had acne, and became unbelievably moody. Stopping this pill was the best decision, and I only wish I'd never started. My advice is to not take this pill, but if you choose to, be aware of how your body is reacting. I wish I had sooner."

For Birth Control "I started taking this for extremely painful cramps and heavy periods. The only positive effect I've experienced is that my periods are regular and last 4 days instead of 7. I still need heavy doses of pain medicine for 2-3 of those days to even tolerate my cramps (which of course wrecks my digestive system). I'm significantly more moody and emotional. I've gained about 25 pounds on this pill, even though I eat healthier and exercise more than I did before starting it. I suddenly had terrible acne, which lasted for the first 6 months, and it eventually cleared up again. My sex drive has also been much, much lower. This pill was my only option because it is chewable and I can't swallow pills. If you don't have to take this medicine, then don't."

For Birth Control "I have been on this for almost 6 months! I have had no issues. I have had other terrible side effects from birth control but not this one! My periods have completely stopped, my face has cleared up! Only during the brown pills (period pills) when I would usually get my period, I get a couple of pimples. Sometimes deep cystic pimples and get bloated. But other than that, it's amazing. No birth control will be perfect, so choose your battles."

For Birth Control "I would not recommend this pill whatsoever. I went on it, and the only pro was a four-day period, basically no period at all, just brown, also barely any cramps. But when it comes to cons, the list is huge - I've stayed a steady weight my whole life, after taking this pill, my weight has skyrocketed, severe bipolar mood swings, acne all the time, and anxiety all the time. I was going to deal with it, but after a year, I decided I just can't do it anymore. I am just going to deal with my period by itself."

For Birth Control "I have been on different birth controls over the years, and due to changes in my hormones, I have been spotting before my period. So, my doctor put me on this BCP, and I have been getting really bad acne, mood swings, and my lips are very chapped. I've been on it for 2 months, and I'm still spotting, and now I have side effects! After I finish this pack, I'm gonna stop taking this pill. My doctor said to give it 3 months, but I just can't with these side effects."

For Birth Control "Minastrin is definitely a hit or miss. Everyone will experience the effects differently, and I have come to learn this from trial and error. I wouldn't say it was horrible, but okay. Not something I would want to stick with. Pros, I've experienced: no weight gain, pleasant mint-flavored pill - doesn't taste like your typical yucky pill, short & lighter periods, bearable menstrual cramps. Cons, I've experienced: mild acne, bloating, fatigue, chronic bacterial vaginitis & yeast infection."

For Birth Control "I'm nearing the end of the second month on this pill. First of all, this pill does its job, which is the only reason it got a 3. I am terribly emotional, and I feel sick 3/4 weeks of the month. The only time I don't feel at least a little off is when I take the brown pills to have my period. I've also experienced horrible leg pains and aches. I've been throwing up for the past 2 days, and ever since starting, I've gotten horrible acne. I'm going to try one more month, and if no change, I'm talking to my doc about switching BC!!"

For Birth Control "I started college when I took these. But I've noticed weight gain. I thought it was the freshman 15, but it's not... Also, there's been a HUGE decrease in sex drive. Stopping these pills now... Oh, and also... I NEVER get acne... all of a sudden I'm breaking out in places I've never even gotten pimples. Lastly, I'm pretty sure my body is reacting to the medication because I've never had a yeast infection... but for some strange reason, I've been experiencing discomfort. Read about this before you decide to take it."

For Birth Control "I have been taking Minastrin for over two years now. Acne was never a severe problem for me, but I now only break out (usually just a few zits/pimples, nothing major) during the last week of the pack, like clockwork. I did gain weight, however, the time frame does coincide with my 'freshman 15,' so I don't think I can blame it entirely on this medication. It does make me a bit moody, but predictably so. This is the only birth control I've ever tried, and honestly, I only have chosen it since it's completely covered by my insurance. It works well enough (I haven't gotten pregnant), but I am thinking about switching to an IUD since I am worried about drug interference and the risk of blood clotting."

For Birth Control "I've been on Minastrin for 7 months now. I was prescribed this specific OCP because I have PCOS. This medication has helped decrease my cramps, acne, and mood swings. I would recommend this birth control to anyone. I work in an OBGYN clinic, so I get samples. Not sure how much it would cost if I had to get the prescription filled."

For Birth Control "While it was effective, I hated the side effects and am discontinuing after less than one month. It made me feel hungry, and I started to break out. I was having sleep issues and bleeding in between periods. I'm currently on my cycle, and I'm miserable. My period has been heavy for four days, and I have cramps. This is unusual for me. Not worth it!"

For Birth Control "I have been on this birth control contraceptive for five months. Some may say you should wait several months to fully review, but I am currently dealing with cystic acne, that of which I have never ever had before. And the funny thing is, I'm also on an acne medication, and it still won't fix anything (been on it for three and a half months). It has not helped my cramps, makes me nauseous, and I have developed heavy depression from time to time with no reason to. I'm gonna get off of it as soon as possible, but whenever I take the placebo pills is when I get insane acne. Gonna have to make sure I use a very strong acne medication when I do get off of it since my hormones are so out of balance."

For Birth Control "Terrible experience! Before getting married, I decided to go on hormonal birth control. I started taking Minastrin 2 months before our wedding, and lasted for about that 2 months on it. It wreaked havoc on my body, and I haven't been the same since. It's been about 1.5 years since then. I had never had cramping with periods or any kind of PMS symptoms for that matter, and have always been a very laid-back person. As soon as I went on it, I became extremely temperamental and felt angry about the slightest things! I also had TERRIBLE periods with clots and cramping. Headaches, loss of appetite, and breakouts everywhere. My doc suggested I try a lower dose, but I was done with HBC. We switched to Fertility Awareness Method and love it!!"

For Birth Control "I was on Loestrin for 3 years with no problems, but now I have acne, which I haven't had for 10 years. And missing periods, and bad PMS, and depression. And my sex drive has dropped."

For Birth Control "Worst pill ever. I have never experienced such awful acne as when I was on this pill. I had cysts everywhere and wanted to just cry. I do not ever recommend this to even my worst enemy."

For Birth Control "I overall was not very happy with this. The reviews were horrible online, but I decided to try it anyway. It did shorten and lighten my period a lot, which I loved. But I had a lot of spotting before I got my period, which was annoying. I did notice my acne get worse. But no emotional effect except being more hungry. I also noticed my breasts get slightly bigger, but as well as my belly area. I'm 17."
