For Birth Control "I have NOT had a good experience with Microgestin Fe 1.5/30. I am taking it to regulate periods. After my new gynecologist suggested I stop the Depo shot and start this, I began noticing many negative effects, such as weight gain, increased acne, decreased libido, depressed thoughts, and MAJOR headaches and migraines! I can’t stress enough how much I’m missing out on doing when these headaches hit. It has made my quality of life decrease an incredible amount. I would not recommend. I would rather be incredibly irregular and never know when to wear lining than take this horrid pill."

For Birth Control "I was prescribed Microgestin 1.5/30 (no breaks or placebos) after Trinessa stopped working for my severe period pain/heavy bleeding. The first month, I had cramps every single day with no period the entire month. Month 2 came along with a period that lasted 21 days with mild cramps. I contemplated stopping the pill, but I didn’t know if it would make things better or worse. I was also extremely fatigued and emotional/depressed. Now I’m in month 3, my breasts are super tender every day, mainly in the mornings, and I’m only a B cup. I haven’t gotten another period, but I experienced very light spotting from skipping a pill for just one day — I ended up doubling up the following day. I have no acne, but I also never had acne, no weight gain, and no headaches out of my norm. So I’m going to continue to give this brand more time to see how my body responds in the upcoming months."

For Birth Control "I started this pill about a year ago after my previous pill had me spotting. At first, I really liked this pill. My periods were usually 6 days and heavy, and this pill made them 2-3 days and light/nonexistent. I have never been an emotional female, and on this pill... I cry weekly... for no reason. Over the dumbest things. I work out Monday-Friday (running 3-5 miles, elliptical, strength training), count calories and macros, and I cannot lose weight. I drink a gallon of water a day, and I am so bloated all of the time. I never had this problem before. I also have noticed a decrease in libido, like a lot. I just got married, and I was just assuming it was from all the stress, being tired from work, etc., but now that's all over with and I'm still not interested. I came to look if other people have experienced similar issues, and I'm glad it's not just me. In the process of switching pills or to an IUD."

For Menstrual Disorders "I am 35 and have had extremely random menstrual cycles for as long as I have had a period. I never know when the cycle will start, end, or if it will be spotty or 5 gallons of blood. I am on the 3rd month of this Microgestin 1.5/30, and I will not be taking it anymore. The Microgestin has seemed to make my menstrual cycles right on schedule and with very little blood flow, however, since week one, I have had the most painful ovarian cysts. I have never had these before, and it started on week one, but the last several have ruptured closer to ovulation. The first time I had to call the ambulance because I thought my appendix had burst. After 2 months, I started forming a belly that looks very similar to a baby bump, but it is not."

For Birth Control "I started using Microgestin because Aygestin and Ethinyl Estradiol just wasn't working. For the first couple of months, everything was good. Around month 5, I slowly started to have mood swings. Sometimes I cried for the smallest things. Then I started to get depressed. Not too long ago, I noticed certain pants started to feel a little tight when I put them on. I completely have NO SEX DRIVE. My boyfriend doesn't understand what I'm going through. I'm just about done with this medication."

For Birth Control "This birth control is horrible. I have been on multiple pills since I was 14 for abnormal and painful bleeding. I've been on Sprintec, Kariva, and a few generics for both of those, as well as Azurette. I switched from Azurette to this pill because I thought it was increasing my feelings of depression and anxiety. This pill is making me so miserable; I cry every single day, my hair falls out when I run my fingers through it, my skin is really oily and I'm getting acne, which I've never had in my life. This is horrible. Maybe it's just the amount of estrogen in these pills and my body just is not having it; I don't know, but I hate this pill and I refuse to keep taking it."

For Birth Control "I've been taking Microgestin Fe 1.5/30 for almost 6 months now for the sole purpose of birth control. While it has never failed me in regard to contraception, it has given me crazy mood swings, sharp cramps, and intense sudden headaches that sometimes become migraines. I'm talking migraines so bad that I have to close my eyes and crawl to get anywhere I need to go, if I can even move at all. It has been an emotional and painful 6-month trial, and I'm done with this contraceptive."

For Birth Control "This pill works absolute wonders for me. Before I got on this pill, I had very heavy and painful periods. When I started the Microgestin 1.5/30, the heavy bleeding and painful cramps went away. My periods are now light, and the cramps are little to none. Not to mention, I had a very bad acne problem, that went away too. Besides the headaches that I get once in a while, this pill seems to be treating me good. No pregnancies or anything. It is actually worth it. It works! It also helps for more than just birth control."

For Birth Control "I was put on this birth control when Gildess was recalled. Gildess was perfect for me, so I hoped that the change wouldn't be as different, but I was wrong. Granted, this pill did a good job in preventing pregnancy, and there was no breakthrough bleeding. I experienced mood swings about a week into taking this pill and honestly did not recognize myself. I never understood depression caused by the pill because I never experienced it, but this pill literally made my life hell. I was so moody, crying at the smallest things, and my sex drive was gone. I also had no desire to eat because of the constant nausea and abdominal pain. Avoid this pill, the side effects are not worth it. Currently waiting to be switched to brand Loestrin Fe."

For Birth Control "I started taking 1.5/30 about 18 months ago. I actually have lost weight on the pill, but can be a result of other lifestyle variables. I enjoy the light period, and my cramps are little to none. I have not gotten pregnant. My libido has significantly decreased, which is a bummer. My blood pressure has slightly increased. I also have gingivitis, which I never had before. I don't get headaches or mood swings. I would describe my mood as neutral most days. I sometimes feel lightheaded when I stand up from sitting, and once almost passed out from one alcoholic drink. I know my review sounds mixed, but it's doing its job: controlling birth."

For Birth Control "Not worth it for me with the side effects. Constant headaches, mood swings, and depression, heavy bleeding and clots from half dollar to golf ball in size, accompanied by painful cramps. Made me feel wiped out and killed my sex drive. My doctor put me on a lower dose birth control pill, but I’ve still had constant bleeding and clots for the past two weeks."

For Birth Control "Microgestin FE 1.5/30 is the first BC pill I have ever taken, and I've only been taking it for a month, but I could not be happier. I was worried to start taking birth control because of all the horror stories I've heard and all the possible side effects, but this one definitely works for me. I haven't experienced any side effects at all. No breakthrough bleeding, morning sickness, or noticeable weight gain."

For Acne "Went on it for acne on my chest and neck. It helped that, but then it made my face break out like I've never seen. 30+ pimples (mostly by my chin/mouth). It made me so incredibly moody, too, and breakthrough bleeding for 2 weeks, and I just said NO and stopped it. Would never recommend this to anyone, EVER."

For Menstrual Disorders "I originally started on the 1/20 dose, moving up to the 1.5/30 because my doctor made an error on my script. I am very happy with this BCP, as it reduced my awful cramps and heavy menstruation. I have 2-day periods now, little to no cramping. My acne has cleared almost completely, other than the once-a-month breakout on my chin that I feel is unavoidable, and I'd rather be on a pill that takes care of most of my acne rather than no acne at all. I occasionally will have breast tenderness, but not every month, and I don't really notice it when it does happen. Also, my symptoms of PMS have decreased significantly. My only complaint is that I do get headaches that may be caused by this pill, but I cannot say for sure that they are."

For Birth Control "I was on Lo Loestrin Fe 1/10, but unfortunately lost my job/health insurance, so I was stuck with generic Microgestin 1.5/30 in the meantime. I loved Lo Lo and barely experienced any side effects on that, so I was heartbroken to have to switch. Had pretty much every symptom in the book within the first month of Microgestin... acne flared up, EXTREMELY bloated and gassy - felt like it took forever for food to digest, also felt like I had an extra layer of fat/water retention in my abdomen area, and omg the mood swings!! Awful... I was beyond irritable and wanted to cry all the time. Had really bad cramping the first couple of weeks too... like cramping comparable to PMS. This is a pretty big jump in hormone dosage compared to what I’m used to, and I don’t think I’ll be taking another month of this, it’s not worth it in my opinion, even short term. I’ll probably just wait until I have insurance again to go back on Lo Lo."

For Birth Control "This birth control protected me from pregnancy every time! Sometimes I would take it a few hours later as well, and it would still work. There is a lot of estrogen in it, so it caused me to get headaches. Super light, predicted period every month. No cramps. No weight gain other than your typical bloating."

For Birth Control "I've been taking Microgestin for roughly the last 4 years and love it. However, pharmacies struggled to stock it and often gave me generic brands, which gave me the worst side effects. I've gotten to the point where I love my pill, but I can't rely on my pharmacy to give me the correct brand because I've switched pharmacies 5 times over the last few years and even had my doctor write my prescription for no substitutions. Therefore, I'm considering switching to the implant but hate the idea of having horrible side effects and would rather stick with Microgestin. On Microgestin, I still have my period regularly, about 4-5 days. It's light to medium flow and usually only have bad cramps the morning before my period starts, and it's nothing a heating pad and ibuprofen can't handle. I feel like I have acne, but I consider it to be more related to the second puberty we ladies get in our 20s than related to my pill. I haven't gained weight due to the pill and feel like my mood is very controlled."

For Birth Control "I was on Microgestin Fe 1/20 for three months prior to this, I switched because I was getting my period every two weeks. So I switched, and I'm so glad I did. Period is completely regulated again, like it was before I started birth control. No weight gain (actually weight loss), no mood swings, no change in libido. Worst parts of this were feeling nauseous for the first three days I was on it (nausea went away after), one pimple, and cramps the first day of my period. Overall, the pros outweigh the cons by miles, so I would recommend this to anyone!"

For Birth Control "I like this birth control. I don’t have the mental side effects, like anxiety, I get with others. I’ve been taking it for a long time, though, and they recently changed their packaging to this thick white plastic thing that’s impossible to open and overall terrible. Please bring back the old normal thin packaging! What were you thinking?"

For Birth Control "After being on Depo and two different pills, my gynecologist decided to have me try this one to see if my side effects would be less severe. I mainly got on this because my bf and I wanted to stop using condoms ;) I started this only two months ago (September 2015), and it started out pretty good; no side effects. By October, my bf and I noticed that my boobs were swollen (he enjoyed that), and I am now having painful cramps every other week. Now that it's November, I notice that my sex drive has decreased a little, I have terrible mood swings, and I'm lethargic most of the time :( But overall, the pill is very effective; my bf has not 'pulled out' since I started, and still no pregnancy! Totally worth it if you can handle the changes."

For Polycystic Ovary Syndrome "WORST BC PILL EVER!!! First two weeks went great, no side effects, but the third week was terrible! This pill made me super bloated and constipated. It really messed my stomach up, it's so uncomfortable. Will never take this again."

For Birth Control "I am currently on this pill and have been for the past 8 months. I'm not a huge fan, but it's done its job thus far, so I can't complain too much. If you get migraine headaches with aura, I wouldn't recommend this pill. I usually get 2 headaches a month now when before starting birth control, I could go just about 3-4 months without a migraine. I also have some slight nausea, dizziness, breast tenderness and swelling, and some fatigue (usually within the first week of starting back up on the pill). These symptoms have happened continuously throughout the 8 months on this pill and have not gotten any better (although doctors suggest your body will get used to the hormones within 3 months). These symptoms are not usually severe though."

For Acne "I've never had to fight with acne in my life, because, fortunately, I was blessed with good skin. I started getting large amounts of deep-set acne all over my chin and neck once I started this birth control. Also had about two weeks of breakthrough bleeding each cycle, as well as severe mood swings. Would not recommend to anyone."

For Birth Control "I began taking birth control to help control my heavy bleeding and cramping. I was on a lower dose birth control, Norethindrone/Eth 24 Fe, for 8 months, and it was amazing until I started to have breakthrough bleeding. My ob-gyn switched me to this to stop the bleeding. I'm a Sunday starter, and the switch between the two was hard for my body and resulted in a full month of bleeding. The periods lightened and shortened with this pill, but I started getting a ton of side effects I never had before; such as nausea, headaches, constant aching during periods, bloating, weight gain around my stomach area, and constipation. The pill worked to prevent pregnancy (condoms) and in reducing flow, but with the added side effects, it wasn't worth it to stay."
