"Like most of you probably are doing, I took it upon myself to look up some reviews as to how women felt, responded, liked, or disliked Lo Loestrin Fe. STOP RIGHT THERE. I read nightmarish reviews after I took my first pill and was paranoid I'd experience some of the 'symptoms' and 'side effects' others did. The day after my first pill, I felt sleepy and my body felt weak; aside from that, NOTHING. My transition was seamless. Granted, everyone's different, but after feeling no difference, I began to think maybe the things said here were all in their heads? I have absolutely no complaints about Lo Loestrin Fe. My sex drive hasn't been affected in the slightest; I'm very, VERY big on taking care of my face and skin, and I haven't had any acne, pimples, etc. Go for it!!!!"

"READ THIS IF YOU ARE SENSITIVE TO MEDICATIONS OR HAVE DEPRESSION! Everyone is different in how their bodies metabolize medications. I am very sensitive to side effects. My doctor suggested this pill with the lowest amount of estrogen in hopes that it wouldn't cause too many side effects. At 22 years old, I already struggle with depression & regular migraines. The only thing this pill did for me was decrease my headaches. I was on it for one month & my depression was seemingly worse than it ever had been. I had constant really dark thoughts, life just didn't seem worth it. I stopped the pill immediately & was admitted to a psychiatric hospital. A couple weeks off the pill & everything went back to baseline. Even if you don't have depression, this is a MAJOR side effect that is not properly addressed. A lot of people have reached out to me telling me they had a very similar experience. Again, everyone's experience is different, just be careful and do your research, as with any birth control."

"I have been on Lo Lo for a year and two months, and it is great! This was my first experience with birth control pills, and it went perfectly fine. I used to have very bad/heavy periods, but now I get my period for maybe two or three days each month (no cramps!). My body did take a while to adjust, though, so I had breakthrough bleeding for the first 6 months or so. I had no other negative side effects other than maybe feeling way more emotional."

"I’ve been on Lo Loestrin Fe since grade 10 to stop a 3-month straight heavy bleeding period. Once I started Lo Loestrin Fe, for about a month I never got another period, which is great!! (Do you know how much money I’m saving not buying pads or tampons?? Or having to worry about getting your period??) I have now been on it for 5 years and it has been great with no side effects. I would 100% recommend it if you have heavy, terrible periods and want really light periods or no periods. Just remember, everybody reacts differently, and sometimes it takes a couple of months to start working!"

"I have been taking this for a year. I switched from another birth control pill, which I was on for 10 years. Since the switch, my period has been non-existent. I have always been regular, but not with this pill. At first, I was very nervous each month, even taking pregnancy tests. Other than the irregularity, this pill has very little side effects. It has helped with mood swings I was having on my old pill. I have not gained weight, and my skin seems clearer. I saw my gyno today, and she said the Lo Loestrin Fe has the smallest amount of estrogen, so it makes the uterus so thin it just doesn't bleed. She says it is perfectly healthy and normal, so I am okay with that. I just know the week I go on vacation, I will get a period!"

"Taking Lo Loestrin Fe was not a fun time at all. I only took it for a week and a half, and it caused me a horrible yeast infection, made me cry every day, and made my skin break out. As well, it made me hungry 24/7, and I gained weight. I don’t recommend."

"I came here and read the reviews after my doctor put me on Lo. I'm 27 years old with PCOS and this is my first time being on any type of birth control. When I read the reviews, I saw a lot of comments about women getting really bad anxiety from taking Lo. I have been diagnosed with anxiety and depression, so it made me nervous. I wanted to see for myself because I know I can always stop taking it. The first day I took it, I was fine for the first 2 hours, but shortly after my heart started to race and I felt anxious. My initial thought was that the reviews were right, but I noticed I didn't get the reaction until after I drank soda. I tested this theory and did some research to find that women on birth control are more sensitive to caffeine. The next day I took my birth control without caffeine and didn't have the same experience. I'm leaving this review for the next woman who reads the reviews and feels the same way I did."

"I feel like because there aren't many positive posts on here, I should share one. I got on this pill because of recurring ovarian cysts and also to relieve some menstrual pain during periods. I'm on the third month, and I have had no negative side effects. The only thing was I had black, disgusting discharge for about a week at the beginning, but it stopped. However, I noticed that if I don't take the pill at the same time every day or relatively close to the same time, I begin having that discharge again. However, I have not experienced any mood swings, weight gain, or any other negative side effects. Every pill affects every woman differently, so please don't get freaked out by negative reviews like I did, actually, don't even read them."

"This pill was good in the beginning, but after a few months, I no longer got my period at all. Some may like this, but I, however, prefer to feel like my body functions. My acne began to come back after 6 months, and I have 0 sex drive, which destroyed my relationship. Even with foreplay, sex was painful and disinteresting. (For reference, we'd once had a very frequent healthy sex life.) Any combination pill is likely to kill your sex drive, so if you don't have acne, I'd recommend a progesterone-only pill."

"I am only writing this review to let other women know that Lo Loestrin Fe gave me major depression and suicidal thoughts. It also raised my blood pressure significantly. If you have issues with mental health, I ask that you be cautious of this pill."

"I got on this birth control around 6 months ago. I had no problems. It took about three months to adjust. I don't get periods on it. Unfortunately, after 3 months, I began putting on weight rapidly (around 15 lbs in two months), which is a lot for my small frame. Despite working out 6 days a week and eating clean, I could not lose the weight. Other than the weight gain, this was a great pill. The only reason I'm changing is because of the severe weight gain."

"I never had a bad experience with this pill. I freaked out when I first started taking it because I didn't have a period. But I fell in love with it. I don't have periods. I don't get any weight gain or mood swings. I have been on this pill for about 4 years now. It does take a bit for you both to get used to a pill. So don't hate it. It will take a month to a few. I haven't had any problems with it."

"I have been on this medication for almost 6 months. This pill finally stabilized my periods. Everything was going well until the 4th or 5th month, I began experiencing a horrible increase in appetite. I noticed I gained weight on my face and that my acne got much worse, especially on my neck (which I never used to get). Being such a low dosage, I didn’t expect for this pill to have such a high impact on my body, but I was wrong. Birth control works differently on everyone, but I still would not recommend this pill."

"Best birth control I've ever taken. No weight gain, no periods (due to low hormone, doc said that was normal). However, why am I paying nearly $100 for this pill? I have insurance too! I want to continue using this pill because my body is taking it really well, but I'm going broke!"

"I just started taking this birth control, Lo Loestrin, and honestly, I am so depressed. I have never felt this way in my life. I missed two days of work because I couldn’t even move from my bed. I have been spotting since I’ve been taking the pills. I'm on my 12th pill, I don’t think I’m gonna take it anymore."

"I have been on Lo Loestrin for about 2 years. When I first started, I had pregnancy symptoms for about the first week: sore breasts, nausea, etc., however, that subsided. I no longer have my period, which my gynecologist informed me is very common. Every now and then, I'll have a month where I get cramps during the 'reminder pill' portion of the pack, but it's not common. I take my pill every day at the same time (before bed - set an alarm!) and always keep an extra pack in my purse in case. No weight gain, no acne. I'm very happy."

"I have currently been on the pill for over a year. After my daughter, I tried the Depo shot, it made my periods stop and worked for a few months. But I became emotional and gained weight. For the last year or more, I have been using the Lo Loestrin pill, which is amazing. The positive thing about the pill is I have lost weight, my face has barely any to no breakouts, and best of all, NO period. The negative thing about the pill is I do feel more tired than usual (I am also going to school for nursing, work 36 hours, take care of the lawn/house, and have a 2-year-old), it could be my activity. Only $10 is covered by my insurance, which leaves me paying $82. My sex drive is balanced, I have not seen much change. Highly recommend this birth control."

"I've been taking Lo Loestrin Fe for about 2.5 years now. The first few months were pretty rough, i.e., mood swings, weight gain, low sex drive. I was even nauseous and sometimes had two periods in one month. YES, I agree it can be tough to give this one a chance, but I'm glad I did. At this point, I have not had a period in months, and all side effects have mellowed. I do get normal PMS symptoms, light cramping, and body aches, just no bleeding. No more weight gain or mood swings. I'm glad I stuck it out because it has been the best birth control I've used."

"Lo Loestrin = Acne cysts! I have always had clear skin (with the occasional breakout, but nothing serious), and since switching to this pill about 12 months ago, I've had a never-ending cycle of painful and ugly red blemishes. My dermatologist assessed my skin, and after two minutes with me, determined that I had Lo Loestrin skin. She said it is absolutely the worst for skin because of its significantly lower estrogen levels. Anyway, I just wanted to share this knowledge. I'm switching back to Yasmin."

"I started this pill 8 months ago. I got my period horribly the first month, maybe even the worst I've ever had it. It was heavy, painful, and I gained 6 pounds in water weight. Since then, I have not gotten my period once. I will get some period symptoms around the time I would get my period and some discharge, but no period, which is great for me. I have been on probably more than 5 birth control pills before this, and this by far is the best. I've lost 10 pounds, no acne, and no depression, which is the main reason I switched. The only negative about this pill is the crazy high price. Great pill!"

"Honestly, I LOVE this birth control! I am very sensitive to birth control, and this is the first one that has helped me. First off, for anyone who doesn't have insurance, GO TO THE WEBSITE! There is a discount card there that you can sign up for that works for 12 scripts. My monthly script is $30 now. First off, my periods were AWFUL. I had cramps so bad. This has increased my breast size by a cup, cleared up my acne, haven't gained any weight (I am a very healthy eater, although) my periods are light, maybe lasting 3 days, my cramps are very mild, if any (Aleve liquid gels are the best). Be sure you take this at the SAME TIME every day! Stay safe and healthy!"

"Personally, I really love Lo Loestrin, and I wanted to give a positive review as so many are negative. For those who want to know how effective Lo Loestrin is - it is great. I’ve been on it for a few years, and it has given me such freedom with very light and short periods. I really had no side effects. I may have lost some weight, but nothing significant, my skin is great, and I haven’t had cramps in years. It’s greatly improved my quality of life."

"I've been on Lo Loestrin for 4 months. This pill is one of the best I've taken so far. No periods or crazy mood swings. Sex drive is normal. Only downside is that I have gained some weight, and it's been hard to lose it while being on this pill. Second downside: it's expensive, and my insurance doesn't cover it, so it costs me $75 per month. Overall, good experience on this pill."

"Lo Loestrin Fe is by far the best birth control I have ever tried! I cannot tell you how many different contraceptives I have tried, and they have all made me miserable. I've had absolutely no side effects on Lo Loestrin Fe. My skin is clear, my periods last maybe a day, and it's super light. Absolutely no cramps or nausea. My weight fluctuates on its own, so I wouldn't blame the pill for that, lol."

"I was on Lo Loestrin Fe for a little over a year. After six months, I started getting chronic yeast infections. From January to July, I had over 12 yeast infections. I always had a constant uncomfortable itch, and I couldn’t find out why. I was in and out of the doctor's weekly. I finally thought about maybe it being my birth control pills. Sure enough, I found some reviews connecting this Lo Loestrin Fe BC to women developing yeast infections. I also did not have a period, and that scared me. I’ve been off of it for three weeks now, and my yeast infections and itch are gone! I’m hoping this is helpful! I’m waiting another month before going on a new pill to ensure the hormones are out of my body."
