For Birth Control "I actually recently got off of Junel, and since being off, I realized I'm much happier, my sex drive has increased, I've been able to lose weight, and I'm not downright exhausted all the time. When I was still on it, I'd notice right before my period, I'd turn into a(n even more) psychotic, emotional wreck. I am also significantly less depressed now. I did not like the pill, and these are my personal experiences, but of course, everyone reacts differently to medication."

For Birth Control "Everyone is different, but I have LOVED this! I haven't experienced any side effects, except now when I start to get my period, my breasts hurt a little bit, it goes away once I start. My period has lightened, my acne has cleared up, and I haven't gotten pregnant, so I recommend this!"

For Birth Control "I've been taking Junel for 4 years and have always thought the pill worked great. No pregnancy, no weight gain, lighter periods, etc. But now I am starting to wonder if my more frequent hair loss is because of it. My hair was very thick before starting the pill, and now I have average to thin hair. It has really thinned my hair out by my part line, to the point where I don't feel comfortable putting my hair in a high bun without a headband. I never put two and two together, but I also have no sex drive since starting the pill. After reading these reviews, I'm starting to wonder if it's all because of the pill."

For Birth Control "Month 1 OK. Nothing that noticeable. Month 2 extremely tired all the time. No patience, overemotional, beyond ragey. Full period on the second week of the pack. Dry, flaky patch on my usually non-acne face. Headaches, some abdominal cramps. Want to give it a chance, but the tiredness I can't deal with... the side effects of feeling depressed."

For Birth Control "I was dreading starting this birth control of horror stories online and feared it would worsen my anxiety/depression. The first two weeks were bad: chills, shakiness, body ache, nausea, crying, bloated, and swollen boobs. My doctor said to give it time and symptoms will ease as my body adjusts, and said to take it nightly to sleep through the nausea. After the first two weeks, I was okay, and I've taken it for nine months without issue, but: 1.) I take it nightly, and if I wake up to use the bathroom in the middle of the night, I'm nauseous and often dry heave. I'm often nauseous the next morning too. 2.) I've not had a period since starting it. The first few months I had spotting and the past three months I've had no period at all. My doctor said it's common and I don't mind, but I miss knowing I'm not pregnant each month. It hasn't worsened my mental health and maybe even helps regulate my mood (having no period and no PMS). It's a very low dose and I feel anything stronger would give me more adverse symptoms, so I'm sticking with it because my body tolerates it relatively well."

For Birth Control "Continued: I experienced some breast tenderness and slight breast growth (I ain't complaining about that). I'm currently in my second pack and experiencing no side effects at all! I am very happy with this medication and impressed with how well it worked out for me despite all the negative reviews. Don't let the reviews frighten you, everyone's bodies are different, so try it out for yourself!! :) Good luck."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "DO NOT go near this pill... gave it a few months to kick in per my gyno, and I have no idea how she prescribed this horrible medication. I took it to regulate my period, and now instead of one, I get two a month every two weeks or actually whenever it feels like coming. It has made me EXTREMELY emotional, sad, and easily angered by things that are normally nothing. I also got crazy hungry more than the typical PMS'ing days before. I can't stress enough to stay away from this."

For Birth Control "I started Junel Fe in the summer of 2011 after being on Tri Lo Sprintec in 2010 and breaking out in severe hives the size of my fist. My doctor wanted to give me something that was low in estrogen. I was on Junel from August of 2011 until April of 2013. During this time, my periods were regular down to the day of the week that I got them. However, my mood swings were TERRIBLE in the beginning. I mean, bipolar jubilant to depressed in minutes. But that ended, and it was perfect. I still had PMS and mild cramps, but nothing insane like the beginning. The reason I changed was because they said Junel was not being made anymore, and my pharmacy gave me Gildess instead. All in all, regular periods and no pregnancy gets an A."

For Birth Control "I'm in the middle of my fourth month on the pill, and during this month, I feel much better! I had some weight gain at first, but that's okay now. My face is having a lot more issues with acne, so that sucks. The worst thing was during the first three months I had spotting for two weeks, then would be off for a week and would spot again for two weeks. It was light, but constant and annoying!! I kept telling myself I was going to change and make an appointment ASAP, but hesitated because I wanted to wait it out and give it more of a chance. I recommend people to do that with this pill because it's all evening out right, it just took time."

For Birth Control "I've been on this birth control for about 5 months, and I have no major complaints. I was on Lo Loestrin FE for 6 months prior, but unfortunately had to switch because it was too expensive. The only thing I've noticed is that I get very emotional over tiny things, unlike when I was on Lo Loestrin. My period is extremely regular. (Always comes on the first day of the placebo pill week, very light and only for about 3-4 days.) Also cleared up my skin big time, and no weight gain at all. (I've actually lost 7 pounds since being on BC and have had very little change in my eating patterns and physical activity.) Would've given it a 10 if it weren't for the mood swings."

For Birth Control "I have been on this birth control, Junel Fe 1/20, for 2 1/2 almost 3 years. The first 2 years were great. Cleared up my acne, no PMS symptoms, period was light, no side effects. This past year or 1/2 year, I have had nothing but issues. Periods are a bit heavier and irregular, for the first time, I got migraines 3 days in a row with some nausea. I also have started having panic attacks, a bit of depression, and anxiety, which is so unlike me. Thinking about going off of this."

For Birth Control "I will give this Junel Fe 1/20 pill a 5/10. So, I have taken this pill for 3 months, this is my first time using a BC. It didn't give me such horrible side effects like going crazy (even though my bf stated that I was meaner during that time). My sex drive was the same, no change, no weight gain, only got the headaches the first month, after that it almost felt like nothing. BUT the biggest thing about this pill was I've had back-to-back yeast infections, especially on the week before my period. IT WAS THE MOST HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE to go through. I did not want to believe that it was the BC, but I was desperate to get rid of the yeast infection after all the meds that I had that didn't work. It has been 3 weeks since I got off this pill, and I finally feel like me again, with no mild or severe symptoms of yeast infection."

For Endometriosis "I have been suffering from endometriosis for 3 years. A low estrogen pill with iron 'reminder' pills has been the only thing to help my severe cramps and bleeding. My periods are lighter, but unfortunately not shorter. I'm willing to overlook that because I don't get nausea or headaches as much."

For Birth Control "I am on my second pack and third row of medication. I have depression and anxiety and started the pill because my PMS was horrible, and it was really irregular. My doctor put me on this medication, and the non-physical aspects of my PMS were reduced greatly, and even the physical aspects were reduced. I was so happy. I had breakthrough bleeding and abnormal discharge but then started having some heavier breakthrough bleeding, which was a little strange. It cleared up my acne significantly as well. I started having nausea and stomach aches this past week, and I don’t know if that’s because of my eating habits/stress or because of the medication. I also had, just today, some breakthrough bleeding like a light period with dark, almost brown-colored blood and cramps. I assumed this was just because of the medicine, and it didn’t really affect me too bad today. I have been so incredibly happy on it, it pretty much changed my entire life. I feel like a whole new person."

For Birth Control "I started Junel Fe four months ago and never had a period on the days I took the hormone-free iron pills. The first month I had lots of breakthrough bleeding and bled for two weeks, threw up almost every day, had headaches daily. The second month, I bled for four days, thought, ohhh yes! I can get used to this. A couple of weeks later, into the third month, I bled for two weeks again in mid-pack, my face broke out to the point of scarring, my thoughts have been awful. I’ve been anxious, and then going into the fourth month, I was emotionally unstable, crying, raging. I am a stepmom of four kids and a mom to a daughter of my own. I can’t be acting like this or bleeding to the point I think I’m bleeding out. I was supposed to start a pack Friday before Labor Day, and I didn’t. I’m not and won’t ever again. I don’t recommend it to anyone. Now hopefully, I won’t get knocked up, lol."

"The first month I felt horrible. The next few months after, I could feel my body getting used to it. About six months in, I was slowly losing myself. I would lash out at my kids, boyfriend, and even got into an altercation at my workplace. I stopped taking it midway through because I felt I was losing my mind. I’ve been off it about 2-3 months now, but I now suffer from severe, crippling depression and panic attacks and crying spells. My doctor tried to put me on Prozac, which I refused at first. I had to take a leave of absence from work because there were days I couldn’t get out of bed nor stop the crying spells. I went through a week of waking up between 5-6 a.m., vomiting and having panic attacks that almost landed me in the ER. I lost over 20 pounds, stopped eating, and had no appetite. I describe it as “living inside my own head”-it’s awful and dark. I am 34 years old and never suffered from depression. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS BIRTH CONTROL TO MY WORST ENEMY."

For Birth Control "Began using this in Jan 2019. Discovered I got hepatocellular adenoma on October 31, 2019, about 4.5x5 cm. Never got pregnant, but now I've got something else other than a baby growing inside me. I don't recommend. Ladies, don't listen to men's needs just because they don't feel good in a condom. Tell them to man up and wrap their willy."

For Birth Control "For 5 years, I took Junel. For the first year, it was fine. Lighter periods and fewer cramps. Year 2, I started suffering from increased anxiety and what everyone else decided was depression, even though I insisted it was fatigue. I was as tired as if I had the flu all the time, and the week before my period, I could not handle a thing. So I got therapy and started eating healthy to treat what my doctors insisted were not symptoms of the pills. I worked out, ate healthy consistently, but the weight kept coming on at 5 to 10 lbs a year. My sex drive completely disappeared, which doctors will blame on the depression. I finally couldn't handle it and went off two weeks ago. I feel like crying at how much better I feel. It's like I woke up from a coma."

For Birth Control "I've been on this medication for 3 months now, so my body is used to it. The only problem I experienced in the first month was breakthrough bleeding or spotting around the 2nd to 3rd week of the pills. My physician told me this might occur if I didn't wait until my next period to start it (which I didn't). Other than that, I have not experienced any other symptoms. The pills have made my period a lot lighter and my cramps less severe. They also regulated my extremely irregular period! They haven't caused any weight gain, which seems to be a big concern for people when looking for a pill to try. I've actually been losing weight (with diet and exercise) with no added trouble due to the pill. My skin has cleared up great too!"

For Birth Control "I’ve been on this birth control for about four months now, and it’s been good to me so far. The first month, my emotions were heightened a little bit, but since then, I’m back to normal. My periods are so light, and I’ve only gained a couple pounds, which honestly is probably not even because of this birth control. Would recommend."

For Birth Control "I think this pill is amazing. I went on it because I wanted something with lower estrogen that still prevented pregnancy, but less hormones (mood swings, breaking out, nausea) was horrid. I was on Sprintec for 3 years. With Junel Fe, I have maintained weight and have not seen a significant change in my body physiologically. Not pregnant... The only 'con' is that it's so low estrogen that I have not had a period in about a year... which may seem great, but not really knowing if you ever 'skip a period' to indicate if you're pregnant."

For Birth Control "I’ve been on Junel Fe 1/20 for a while now. Decided to write a review because I know when I was googling b.c.s, I’d get nervous from all the negative reviews. I’ve only ever been on pills and have tried quite a few, but have been sticking to this one because it works fine for the most part. I do feel like I’ve noticed holding water retention and bloating a lot more than with my Microgestin Fe, which I loved. Junel Fe hasn’t had any effects on my weight or appetite, though I’ve always had oily/combo skin but notice it’s sometimes more oily when I’m nearing my period. Overall, I’d say for me, an 18-year-old girl, it works, and I get nervous reading bad reviews, but the truth is it’ll work for some and not for others. I’d say try it out because it may work perfectly fine for you!"

For Acne "I am currently halfway through my 3rd month. I was on the NuvaRing, which made my skin immaculate, but because it caused low libido, I stopped. After 4 months of being off of the ring, I started getting acne again. I finally decided to try birth control again to help with my skin issues, and my doctor recommended Junel. My skin has gotten way worse than it ever was. I am getting acne on my back and neck as well."

For Birth Control "I’ve been on Junel Fe 1/20 for 10 months, and it has sucked! When I first started taking the pill, I had a period for like 10 days, and it was super heavy. My gynecologist put me on this for my PCOS, and it’s my first time ever taking birth control. This pill has made me over-emotional, angry, and I cry like a lot. It has worsened my depression, and it also has made my hair grow back faster, like underneath my chin. I’ve even noticed hair growing in places that it shouldn’t be. I get severe headaches, and my heart races a lot on this medication. I am quitting this birth control, and I will not try any new ones. I do not recommend this birth control at all."
