For Birth Control "I was on this for 6 months, and it was awful. I had the worst mood swings. Then they switched me into Junel Fe for another 6 months. It was just as bad. I had acne. Awful moods. And I understand everyone is different. But for me, it was just awful."

For Birth Control "I have been on various birth controls for the past 15 years, and this was my worst experience. I was off BC for 3 years due to trying to conceive, pregnancy, and then nursing. I wanted to start on the pill again after my daughter weaned. I have only taken it for one month, and I can't remember any other pill having such extreme side effects. I immediately got a yeast infection, broke out worse than when I was a teenager, have been exhausted but unable to sleep at night, no sex drive, and extreme mood swings. It has been a horrible experience."

For Birth Control "I was put on this pill for more than one reason. I've always had irregular periods. I'm 28, and I've been having irregular periods since I was 12. Recently, I found out I had a 6 cm cyst on my right ovary, and I was put on this pill to hopefully help that too. I was on this pill for a little over a week before I had to stop it from extreme mood swings to the point I could hardly function. I was crying all the time and a complete mess. Everyone reacts differently, but it was awful for me. I'm now having to take anti-anxiety meds to help me get off the effects of this pill. Before this pill, I have never had any problems with anxiety or mood swings. I posted this to tell everyone to be careful and listen to your body!"

For Birth Control "I'm 27 and had been on the same birth control since I was 15 years old. After having a baby, that brand was discontinued, and my insurance sent me Gildess. Within a few months, I started having really bad anxiety. Eventually, I started having panic attacks before work (ER nurse). My midwife wanted to put me on anxiety medication, and I didn't like that. Instead, I impulsively quit my job that I worked so hard to get. I've always been an anxious person but never this bad. Looking back, I think it's all related to the birth control. I exercise daily and eat pretty healthy and still have about a 3-pound weight fluctuation throughout my cycle with awful bloating. It's bad enough that for 1-2 weeks throughout my cycle, I have to wear a size bigger in my pants. The mood swings are awful. I tend to be level-headed, but now catch myself feeling grumpy about things that normally wouldn't bother me. One week I have a lot of energy, and the next I don't sleep well, have night sweats, and feel depressed."

For Birth Control "I had been taking this BC for about three months. I always bled before the fourth week. Each month, bleeding earlier than the month before. Didn't gain weight. Did not break out as bad as the first BC I was previously on (Sprintec). Then out of nowhere, mood swings. And when I say mood swings, I'm talking a full 180. One minute things would be fine, then the next, I'm crying and ready to cut off the head of the person closest to me. Today I started Xulane. I'm hoping that this will not make me gain weight, break out, or cramp like a lot of the reviews have stated. Hopefully no more mood swings! Best part about these pills, I did not get pregnant."

For Birth Control "I've been taking this for about 4 months, and I have never been an overly emotional person, and now all the sudden my mood swings and emotions are off the charts. I never get that sad over things, and it's made me a lot more depressed/sad. I've always had an easy period, so that wasn't affected, but my emotions are so messed up. I do not suggest this brand."

For Birth Control "I've been on this BC for 2 months now. Anytime I eat, I throw up about 30 mins later. It also has given me very bad acne. I used to not have any, and now I get cystic pimples on the regular. For the first month, it made me feel crazy because I was having mood swings, but that got better. But I am switching BC now because I can't take the throwing up. I know that it could be great for someone, but it wasn't for me."

For Birth Control "I am 19 years old and have been on this pill for 4 months. Before starting this birth control, I had no acne and relatively heavy periods with no cramps and slight bloating. Since starting this pill, I have developed acne and severe mood swings and gained about 10 pounds. I also bleed almost constantly, about 3 weeks per month, very lightly, and now experience cramps when on the placebo pill. I visited my gyno, and he told me to finish the 3-month subscription I had possessed to see if my symptoms improved, and they only worsened. Worst decision ever going on this pill, and I would not recommend it to anyone."

For Birth Control "I was afraid to try this because of all of the negative reviews. It's best to just try things out yourself. Everyone is different. I have only been on birth control once before. I was on the Skyla IUD previously for a little less than two months. My body couldn't handle it at all. So I decided to get off it and try the pill. I waited until my period started, and now I am on my third week. At first, I did have mood swings (pretty bad), I was emotional, with nausea, but not too bad. I am still bleeding a little, but it's going away. I called my gyno to make sure it was normal, and apparently, it is. It takes some time for your body to get used to it. Now that I'm on the third week, I am starting to feel normal again. Even kind of happy. Best of luck."

For Birth Control "I was on Gildess for 3 months, it was my first experience with hormonal birth control. For one thing, I didn't get pregnant while taking it, so it does its job! I did have some unpleasant side effects, though. I had constipation and gas while I was on it, along with some mood swings, although I can't be 100% sure that these things were actually caused or worsened by the pill. The pill did cause nausea (mostly during the first month), swollen and sore breasts (mostly during the 3rd month), and a bit of acne. My periods were extremely light on this pill. During the first month, I had cramps (usually very mild) every day, then a normal period 2 weeks into the pack, followed by spotting with mild cramps until I finished that pack."

For Birth Control "I really love this pill. Only bad thing is that I spot a little after sex or after a bowel movement. I'm on my 4th month. My mood swings were so bad before I took the pill, and now I feel so normal and in control. Less abdominal pain. Less moodiness. Less blood flow during my period."

For Birth Control "I am only on my second month of this medicine. My experience so far, the medicine is easy to swallow, it's a small white pill. The dosage is all the same, so if I get a day ahead (take Tuesday's pill instead of Monday's), I am still putting the correct dose in my body. I have always had terrible periods lasting up to 7-9 days with several very heavy days. Not this time, my period was what I would call normal, lasting 4 days only, with one day heavier than others. My mood was a little out of whack at first, but seems to have leveled out. Pimples so far seem about the same, I still get some. Normally I would have super cravings, didn't seem to have them when I started my period. I had no breakthrough bleeding."

For Birth Control "This is literally the worst pill I've taken. I've been on three different types for 5 years now, and Gildess is the absolute worst. I'm on my 4th day of the inactive pills, and my period still isn't here, but I spot all through the month. Not to mention mood swings, low libido, and tons of acne."

For Acne "I'm 34 years old. I've been on this pill for a little over 4 months. I've never had really bad acne my entire life, just the occasional zits here and there. I guess you could say I was lucky. When I started this pill, I completely broke out on my forehead and still have tiny little pimples that will not go away. I also didn't realize it until now, but I've also had mood swings. I literally cry at the drop of a dime. Lastly, I also never really gained weight while I was on birth control, again, I guess I was lucky, but I've definitely put on some pounds. The ONLY thing that I like is my breasts are big and perky."

For Birth Control "I have been on this pill for a little over one year. When I first started this pill, my appetite doubled. Therefore, I gained about 7-8 pounds. The next six months were great, and I had no issues. My acne went away, and I did not experience any cramps. When the seventh month came around, I had my period for two weeks straight, followed by extremely painful cramps. The cramps would return every period for 2-3 days. The next month, I started spotting in between my periods for the first time. I also developed cystic acne every time my period came around. In addition, I started getting very emotional."

For Birth Control "Terrible - depression, mood swings, highs and lows, uncontrollable moods, went to the emergency room for possible DVT, turned out to be nothing. I have spotted every day taking this pill the last two months and have pink discharge after sex."

For Birth Control "I was switched from Genress Fe, the birth control I was on for 5 years, to Gildess Fe 1/20, the pill my insurance would agree to cover. Before starting on Gildess, I had no mood swings, no acne, and no spotting - even when switched to generic Genress. As soon as I started Gildess, I began to get angry over silly things just prior to my period beginning. I also began to break out in acne - a problem that I had not had for about 4 years. Then today, I had random spotting even though I've been on the pill for 4 months and am extremely moody (something that was never a problem when on the other pill). To say I'm dissatisfied would be an understatement. I will be calling my OB/GYN to switch the pill tomorrow morning."

For Acne "This is the second time my doctor has put me on this exact birth control. Both times it was because of acne and the fact that I am a human who has sex. Both aren't worthy of being medicated. The doctor claims this will prevent future cysts (I had a small one). My periods have been regular for almost a year, but the past 2 were heavy before I started this medicine. I am done. I still break out. The first 2 weeks I had headaches all day, all night. The nausea is more intense now. Hot flashes. Heart pounding and chest pains. Stomach easily upset. Dark urine and bloating. Mood swings are the worst of it. I am not myself. I am on anxiety medicine, and this defeats the purpose! I feel so awful every day. This is not worth it."

For Birth Control "I switched to this over a year ago from NuvaRing because my insurance did not cover it. It took a few months for my mood swings to get better (I felt like I was going crazy for about 3 months), but for the last 9 months, I feel great. Only have a 2-day period, sometimes some spotting the week prior. But if that happens, I don't even have an actual period during my last week."

For Menstrual Disorders "I take birth control for severe menstrual cramps, and this did the job! No cramps and a very light period. HOWEVER, I was extremely emotional and drowsy all the time! I didn't feel like myself, I didn't want to be around anyone, and the littlest thing pissed me off. As soon as I was on the period, I felt SO different. That's when I knew I could not take it again. I also got bad acne, but it may have been due to the stress of knowing I was not feeling like myself. I only took it for one month. If you do not feel like yourself when taking it, please talk to your physician. When I told mine, he mentioned that this drug is known to make some patients depressed."

For Birth Control "I get so dizzy and nauseous on this pill. With headaches. No weight gain or decreased libido. Just terrible cramps and tons of spotting and mood swings and depression. I've also broken out more. And gotten terrible yeast and BV infections. Don't take, please."

For Birth Control "I have been on this BC for 6 months, following severe scarring from cervical cancer treatment. Due to the scarring, my period could not expel naturally, so my fertility specialist suppressed my period completely by placing me on this 28-day cycle. I don't bleed at all, however, I missed one night, and by morning I had severe cramping, which also comes with my treatment, so it may not have only been caused by the BC. My mood swings suck. At first, I felt tired all the time and constantly felt down, so I try to work out every morning, which helps. But I definitely still have mood swings pretty regularly. Also, my boobs have been seriously sore the entire time I've been on it."

For Birth Control "I am so glad I found this site and saw other people's experiences. This drug works to prevent pregnancy, but I have a week with a light period, then a week of a normal period. I have also been experiencing extreme mood swings. I thought it was just me and the stress factor of having three young children to keep up with and that I am homeschooling the older ones. Something just kept telling me that it was the birth control doing it. I will be calling my doctor in the morning and switching!!"

For Acne "I have been on this pill for almost a year now, and it has been pretty good! In the beginning, my periods were still very heavy and cramp-induced. I also had mood swings and got depressed for some time, but not sure if that was entirely due to the pill. About 3-4 months into the pill, my body adjusted, my periods regulated, and are much lighter and shorter. I had moderate acne, and this pill has improved my skin. Still get a breakout every now and then, but I'm grateful. I'm just a bit scared for when I come off the pill (will my acne return with a vengeance?)"

For Birth Control "Went on this as a cheaper option from Lo Loestrin Fe. Was on it for probably 3-4 months, and this gave me the most intense mood swings. I experienced weight gain, which isn’t a normal symptom for me, and it also made me extremely depressed."
