For Birth Control "I've been on the pills for 2 months, and I have been so emotional, as in depressed. I've had a little bit of acne, but it's not that bad. No weight gain, in fact, I've lost 5 pounds. Very, very nauseous but can't throw up. Headaches here and there. I'm not sure if I'll switch just yet... I'll probably try it out a little longer."

For Birth Control "I have been on Lutera for over a year now, and it has been a great pill. I have had no weight gain, and in fact, lost a few pants sizes. It has cleared my face of breakouts, except for an occasional pimple or two around the time of my period. I was informed of a manufacturer change a couple of months ago and have noticed some changes. I get stomach cramps a week before my period, have been overly tired, and have been craving sweets when I normally don't like them. And in one of my recent periods, I stayed nauseous with no appetite and slept every chance I got. Not sure if this is due to being in the process of changing jobs, PMS, or the new manufacturer. If it is the new manufacturer, I will get my OB-GYN to switch me."

For Endometriosis "I am in my third month of taking this, and absolutely love it. The first two weeks I had headaches and slight nausea, so I switched to taking it at night. So if you try this, don't give up, it went away for me. I don't have mood swings, which I did before taking it. I don't feel like I get bloated either. I've had some slight bleeding at the end of my second month, but the doctor said that was normal, that my body has to get used to the pill. Love the fact I don't have heavy periods anymore. I would recommend it. Looking forward to not having a period every month. My mood is stable, and I feel happy. As far as acne goes, I can say it's not giving me any problems."

For Birth Control "I started taking this pill when my pharmacy switched it out from my regular Aviane. (Which is supposed to be exactly the same.) The first week or so, I was incredibly nauseous. Another thing I've noticed is how incredibly tired I've been. I wake up tired. It's really strange because this is a brand new thing since starting this pill. My sex drive has also taken a turn for the worse. Mainly due to being so tired by the time my kids go to bed, I'm practically asleep myself. That was never a problem before. Now that I'm nearing my first period on the pill, I have extreme PMS symptoms. Mainly feeling weepy and actually crying about things I would not normally. The worst, though, is my temper. I feel like I'm about to snap frequently."

For Birth Control "I was also switched from Aviane to Orsythia. I am halfway through month two, and the fatigue, bloating, and nausea are so bad I actually thought I was pregnant! I will be stopping mid-pack as I spent the entire day at work trying to not get sick all over my desk. I'm also waiting for my doc to write me a new prescription."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I was put on this medicine because my doctor found a uterine fibroid after I went in for abnormal bleeding complications. I haven't done well on other birth control methods that caused life-threatening reactions, so of course, I was scared to find that my treatment option had to be birth control. So far, my experience has been great. I had intensified nausea at the start, it subsided after the first week. I've completely lost my appetite and have to force myself to eat at least once a day. So in my first two weeks, I lost seven pounds. No complaints there. I haven't had abnormal bleeding or cramps throughout my day, so it appears to be doing what it is supposed to."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "Have had a period with cramps since Sept 2019. Started Seasonique to try to get rid of my abnormal bleeding. I had heavy periods, migraines, nausea, and cramps prior to starting, and weeks of spotting. Now I'm on my 46th pill of Seasonique and am STILL experiencing moderate bleeding, must wear tampons or pads daily since Sept, and I have nausea, upset bowels, and horrible cramps. Sometimes I can't even stand up. My doctor said to keep taking it and finish the pack and it will get better. WILL IT? I have not stopped bleeding for months, and it's so difficult to explain to a spouse why I feel sick and am STILL also bleeding."

For Birth Control "My doctor recommended Amethyst, and the name was pretty, but my experience on it was NOT. I only lasted 3 months, and I’d say I probably had about 5 periods during that time. My periods would start in the middle of a pack; my cycle had been thrown out the window, and every day I wondered if I’d bleed or not. Believe it or not, that was the least of my issues on Amethyst-the worst issues being that I had completely broken out in cysts. It wasn’t just for the first month either; my skin continuously got worse for 3 months-I’d literally have a new pimple every day. Now, of course, this affected my confidence badly, but on top of that, I was feeling so low every day. I’d wake up ready to go back to bed. I was nauseous almost every day, but especially after I’d take this at night. So basically, cycle ruined, skin ruined, mental health ruined, BUT HEY, I HAD A SEX DRIVE! Yeah, no, not worth the last 3 months of my life down the drain for that."

For Birth Control "First time, first month on Alesse 28! This first month on Alesse has been really something. I have had really no side effects except the odd feeling weird until about 4 days ago. I started bleeding with 5 days left on the pill and feeling nauseous with a headache here and there, fatigued, and achy everywhere! While I'm still able to eat, I have no energy and feel like crap all the time... Will this get better going into the second month? The cramps start off heavy then get lighter, it's really off and on, but for my period right now, it's a bit lighter than before, but I haven't seen a big difference yet? Is this because it's only the first month? Just wanted to share my experience because it's really been something!"

For Birth Control "I used to get extreme cramps, and I would get super nauseous while on my period. And they would be heavy and super irregular. So I got on birth control to get my period to be regular. I love only getting my period four times a year. I haven’t had any crazy side effects like weight gain. I do get mild mood swings, but I don’t think it’s because of the birth control. I highly recommend this birth control."

For Birth Control "I just started this about 2 months ago. I got it from Planned Parenthood after my abortion. They assured me I would not get pregnant on this pill after the first 7 days. I had a little nausea, and I do have fatigue, but my acne has been getting better. However, I just spent the last 5 weeks thinking I was pregnant due to changes in my breasts: veiny, areola enlargement, and literally they feel like two saggy water balloons instead of more firm like normal! This confused me as I've only had this happen to my breasts when I was pregnant! It's not going away, and I am worried. I keep testing, but my test says I'm not pregnant. I really don't like how they feel or look, and I'm not sure what to do about it. If I didn't have that, I'd be happy!"

For Birth Control "When I started taking Alesse, the only side effects were feeling a bit nauseous for the first few days. I’ve now been on it for a month and a half, and I’ve noticed increased mood swings, sadness, and irritability that I never experienced before taking Alesse. I’m also starting to experience a bit of depression (not sure if it’s related to birth control). I’ve gained a bit of weight and feel bloated, appetite has increased majorly. At times, I also feel like my sex drive is lower. I’m going to continue until the 3rd pack, if I see no improvement, I consider switching to a non-hormonal birth control."

For Birth Control "I was so scared to go on birth control again after my horrendous experience with Loestrin Fe. I had mad rage, couldn't think clearly, an emotional mess, and worst of all, acne, something I never experienced before. I knew after a week I liked it. Mostly because my moods since I've been on it have been fabulous. My breasts got huge too! I did feel slight nausea and a loss of appetite, but I'm not complaining. Slight headache and light spotting. This doesn't bother me because I was mostly concerned with my moods shifting. I haven't noticed my skin look any better, but I've only been on it for 2 weeks."

For Birth Control "I have never taken birth control before, and for my size, my doctor recommended something with a very low dose of hormones, which was Lutera. When I first started taking it, I had extremely bad nausea for the first week that was impossible to cope with. Then I started getting really bad mood swings. I am always a positive person and happy all the time. This pill has completely changed my personality since I started taking it. I am always so tired and sleep 12 hours a day, I get so emotional over the smallest things and start crying at random times. I cannot go through a day without having a mini breakdown. I'm coming off this pill."

For Birth Control "I have taken Lessina for only 2 months. I was so scared of trying it because of all the negative comments on it, but for me, I have no side effects whatsoever! I get emotional when I'm going through PMS, but that's 100% normal for me. I take mine before I go to bed (I work overnights), so at 9 am, if I do get nauseous, I don't feel it at all. I haven't gained weight, normal PMS acne, no crazy mood swings. It feels like I'm not taking anything at all! I give it a 9 because I'm not sure how effective it is yet, lol. But I'll find out soon, lol."

For Birth Control "I’ve been on Larissa for a month now. In the beginning, I didn’t mind it, till the end of the month. I just don’t feel like myself anymore, nothing really makes me happy, and I’m in a new relationship and finally with someone who does make me happy, and I just find myself in a slump. IDK why... also not helping my anxiety at all. I feel like it’s making it worse. I feel like I can’t do anything. And this past week, I’ve been feeling very sick and just out of it. So nauseous every morning... definitely thinking about switching."

For Birth Control "I, like many others, was previously on Levora and was switched to Portia (without my consent) by Kaiser. Levora was my first experience with BC, and I took it for a little over a year. My only issue was prolonged spotting if I missed a dose. Once I was given Portia, I gained a little over 30 pounds in less than 4 months, I had frequent headaches, extreme fatigue (had to use my lunch break to nap daily), woke up nauseous every morning, and experienced the only 2 yeast infections I have ever had. Unfortunately, it took me about a year to realize Portia was the culprit. Since they told me it was the same when I switched, I never even suspected. I felt like a failure for gaining weight and not being able to get it off, I was frequently depressed, and my work suffered because I was often too tired to focus. Because of this thread, and my other research, I stopped taking Portia about a week ago and just opted to purchase Levora through an online BC provider NuRx."

For Birth Control "Planned Parenthood gave me 18 months' worth of this birth control. I used to take Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo for 3 years until they discontinued it, and I was so sad, for me, it was the best birth control and gave me no side effects. The Dr. at PP said Aubra EQ was similar to Ortho. WRONG! I've been on this birth control for 2 months, and it has been bad. The first day I took this pill, immediately I got a huge headache and was nauseous. I still took the pills every day, same time, for 1 month. Throughout the month, I had severe depression, headaches, tiredness, and regular spotting. And now, all of a sudden, I got my period again, which is horrible because I just got my period last week. This birth control is awful, do not take this. I'm getting off this and finding a different brand."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I am on my 2nd pack of Aviane and will be starting on the sugar pills tonight. I love this pill! I do not have as many side effects as I used to have with other pills. I had a few headaches and some nausea in my first month of using this, but those are gone now. No breast tenderness, no noticeable weight gain, although I have an increased appetite, but I try to balance it with a healthy diet and exercise at least 3 times a week. My previous one (Sprintec) caused me to spot, and I was having a period for 3 weeks straight. On Aviane, I have no spotting, and my periods last for only 7 days and are light. I used to have really heavy bleeding, which caused my iron levels to be depleted. I develop pimples here and there, but they are manageable. I do not have any mood swings on this pill, and that is just wonderful. I just feel happy every day! Aviane is a game changer for me, and I am so glad that I found it :)"

For Birth Control "I was skeptical after reading the many negative views, but now I'm on month three, and here's what I have to say (every body is different, ps): The first month was hard. I broke out and got back acne. I was exhausted to the point of fatigue (and a real weird eye twitch). I had a few moments of intense nauseousness and a couple headaches. My first period week was rough - my energy levels depleted immensely, and I was an emotional crybaby. My boobs grew a lot, which was fabulous. And I even noticed my nails and skin (I have really dry, dry skin) and hair all strengthen and become healthier. By month three, everything subsided, and I feel back to normal, with healthier nails even ;) Give it time - at least three months to see if it works!"

For Birth Control "I have been taking Levora for about two months. Here is my experience: the first day I took it, I woke up around 3 a.m. because I had a lot of nausea, but it got better later. The next two days I had nausea, but nothing I couldn't handle. I have lost 10 lbs since I started taking the pill, don't get hungry a lot, just normal. Something I have noticed is that I get very emotional one week before my period comes. Sex drive is higher than ever, this might be because I feel more protected, and so does my partner, but we still use condoms as a second birth control method. Overall, I don't have any issues with this pill (which I got from Planned Parenthood) so far. Don't be scared to try it because everyone is different."

For Birth Control "I got this birth control in February (now it's April), and I have noticed this pill has had a few side effects. One being I'm always tired and get tired out really easily, which is annoying because I'm always sleeping when I want to be with friends, another is nausea. I will feel sick occasionally and have headaches, and the last is being SUPER emotional. I will cry for no reason, and I believe it has made me a little depressed. I'm hoping this will all blow over, if not, I'm getting a new pill."

For Birth Control "I love this birth control! I've been using Lutera for a month now. First time ever being on anything and at first I was very nauseous the first week taking it. I believe that was just my body getting used to it. I did spot after receiving my period. I've lost a total of 6 pounds in the first month and my breasts have gotten slightly plumper. Haven't experienced any mood swings. I guess everything works differently for everyone."

For Birth Control "I've used this for 2 years and have had no problems whatsoever. I previously had an arm implant and experienced spotting and weight gain that wouldn't stop. After taking Quasense, I've lost weight, no spotting, light and short periods. I use Retin-A for acne, so my skin has been unaffected. I'm not sure about water retention because I believe that has a lot to do with diet, and I'm athletic, so I stay hydrated on a daily basis. I experienced no nausea, headaches, or psychological side effects. And most importantly, no pregnancy."

"Please read this if you have PCOS. This Vienva pill works! I tried it for three months before reviewing it. I'm in my 40s, a mom, and have PCOS. I've had multiple ruptured cysts and sharp pains in my ovaries for 5 years. Nothing helped. Looking at surgery, I tried this as a last resort. If you are a 'typical' woman, maybe this pill isn't for you! But if you're one of those people who reacts to the various medications that seem to help everybody else, then please try Vienva! Nothing works for me the way it 'should.' IT'S WONDERFUL. I take it in the morning. I have zero nausea. Zero cramps. Zero cyst pain (yes, that's gone!). The first two days it felt as if my ovaries were on fire. Since that passed, it's been SO nice not to have pain there! This pill has changed my life. If you tend to overreact to 'normal' pills, and you have issues with your ovaries, I wrote this because I know how bad it can be! Best of luck!"
