For Birth Control "I'm going into my third pack of the generic brand. I LOVE IT. Of course, with any medication, there's always side effects and allowing your body to get used to it. My first pack I bled for a little over a month, but of course that was already spoken about at the doctor's. I'm about to go into my third pack in about a week and a half, and I've had some light spotting, but nothing to be alarmed about. A little upsetting because I don't want my period at all unless it's when I'm supposed to get it, but this is normal. I highly recommend this method of birth control, my friend encouraged me to do this instead of continuing with the IUD I had inserted for 4 years. I give it a 10!"

For Birth Control "I took this BC for about 5 years. It was absolutely amazing for the first four years, with the exception of having spotting here or there, but once we got through about 3-6 months, that ended, and only getting my period every three months was AMAZING! I had a very light period with little to no cramps while on this pill. About a year ago, I stopped taking it after having been on it for close to 5 years. I went on vacation and continued to take my pill at the same time every day, and I had my period for the ENTIRE three weeks I was gone. A very heavy and painful period, too, which was completely abnormal. I also completely lost my sex drive before stopping using this and have now stopped taking it, and I am honestly scared to experiment with new pills."

For Birth Control "Honestly, this pill is great for me. In the past, every BC I tried made me sick on the first week of taking pills after the end of my period every month. With Seasonique, I never got nausea the first weeks in the night. I have not gained any weight, my sex drive has not been affected (as I’ve seen other comments mention it was affecting theirs). The fact I only get my period four times a year makes me forget I even have a period half the time, although it is true if you skip a day, you do get your spotting/period. Other than that, the only thing I can say is I have noticed more darker hairs around my chin and jaw area, but not sure if it’s the pill itself."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "Started taking the generic brand. The first two months worked fine. Three days into my third pack, started spotting. Now I'm full-blown on my period. Have always bled for five days and always lighten up by the fourth day. I'm still bleeding very heavy, and it's day six. Not sure if I should stop taking the pill or wait it out."

For Polycystic Ovary Syndrome "I started this birth control six months ago. I was prescribed it for Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome and mild Endometriosis. It helped quite a bit with my frequent periods and cystic acne. However, I had constant spotting for the six months I was taking it. I took the pill at the same time every single night, and I would still spot! I know this is common with this pill since it is supposed to give you four periods a year, but I couldn't take the spotting anymore. I also have absolutely no sex drive."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "So I started these new pills, Seasonique, in September 2019. All went smoothly for the first 12 weeks, got my period at the end, it wasn't too horrible like before either. Well, I started the 2nd 12-week pack, and about 4-5 weeks in, I started spotting and have been since. About 6-7 weeks now, and next week I'm due for my normal period. I'm going to give it a chance, and maybe after my 'regular period' and starting the next pack, it'll regulate again, but if this happens again, I'm done!"

For Birth Control "I have had PMDD since my teens, I'm 40 now. Being a single mom caring for children on my own, I want to make sure I'm on my best behavior. Well, once a month I wasn't, and so I decided to finally look into treatments. My doctor suggested Seasonique because it stops my periods. No periods, no PMS. I've been on it for exactly three months today. For three months, I have been spotting every single day, enough to have to wear panty liners, sometimes I even had to wear light tampons. I thought that not having a period would save me some money on not having to buy those products, but I was wrong. As for my PMDD, it has certainly created a significant change each month, however, it's still too soon to tell if it's a permanent solution. I will be talking to my doctor about switching if the bleeding doesn't go away. I don't see it feasible living a life where I'm bleeding every day, and I'm pretty sure the daily panty liners will catch up to me with some sort of bacterial infection."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I am on my 2nd pack on my third month of pills. I have been on the generic brand of Seasonique called Ashlyna, starting on my 6th month. The first month, as soon as I started, I thought it was going to be awesome. By the second month, I started bleeding and bled like a heavy period for a little over 3 weeks. Called my doctor, she said that my body just had to get used to it. The third month was just fine, and the 4th month as well. The fifth month, I started spotting here and there, but nothing serious. Now I am starting on my 6th month and on the last pack, and I have been spotting since October 6 and just got a heavy period today, and I am not due for a period till 3 more weeks. I am going to wait it out and see what happens. Good luck, everyone."

For Endometriosis "I started Seasonique due to my endometriosis, and my Dr. wanted to stop my periods. I started the pill on 10/15, didn't bleed from then to 11/26. Then I started spotting at first, then this turned into red heavy bleeding from then on. After failed attempts of trying to call and get in to see my Dr., after 18 days of bleeding, I went to the ER, where they did nothing but a pregnancy test and some regular blood work, that came back normal, and told me I had dysfunctional uterine bleeding due to endometriosis! I then called my Dr. again after telling them I went to the ER, they then were able to get me in 5 days later. At this time, I've been 23 days, after an examination, the Dr. wants me to stay on Seasonique for 7 more days, taking it not once, but three times a day!"

For Birth Control "I started the pill 3 weeks ago. I'm spotting almost every day, and I am trying to take it in the morning at the same time between 7am and 9am. But not consistent, so I may have to change my timing. I have a few cramps, but nothing compared to before. So hopefully, things will get better as many explained here."

For Birth Control "I've been on this for 2.5 years so far. I started this about 8 months after I stopped smoking cigarettes, so regardless, I gained a bunch of weight back, and I think Seasonique and my other medicine (for sleep) are what is keeping me from not getting back to my skinnier self. The effects of this are worth it to me, though: not getting my period for 2.5 months, then the last 3 weeks I begin to spot (only needing a liner), and then get my period the last week. I used to deal with extreme cramps to the point of sweating hunched over in pain, I began this and have felt 1000x better during my period. I still get cramps, of course, but they are nothing compared to what I used to go through every month. I also have a much lower libido than when I was 3 years younger, but this medication has worked well for me enough that the pros outweigh the cons."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I tried many things to stop heavy bleeding, including an ablation. Nothing made my period less heavy, let alone stopped it. I started Seasonique 2 years ago, and in the beginning, I had irregular spotting for the duration of the first pack. After that, I had very light periods every 3 months, with occasional spotting in between. I was happy with the results. Now, nearly 2 years later, in the second month of a pack, I am on a 7-day and counting period, extremely heavy with a lot of clots. Guess this has decided to stop working too, so it is back to my OBG again to try something else."

For Birth Control "Amazing! I'm fine with this pill! Before, I used Naomi, but it gave me side effects like spotting. This has the same chemical component (I do not know if it's the specific term) but with a higher dosage... I do not understand all these negative opinions that scared me in the beginning, but it's perfect for me. Absolutely recommended. I write from Italy and here the fact of not having menstruation for 3 months is seen as unnatural, so it is not widespread but really good if you overcome these prejudices."

For Birth Control "I started taking this because a lot of other birth control was not working for me. I liked it for the first couple of months, but I noticed some not normal spotting for two weeks that basically was my period. I would take it, have the heavy spotting, and then period, and after the period, it would be back to heavy spotting. I will say the every 3 months was great while taking this, but I did gain a lot of weight while taking it. I would say that this is good, but make sure you talk to your doctor. I can't say you'll experience the same thing as me, but talk to your doctor or NP."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I have been on this medication for almost 5 years. My doctor gave it to me because the bleeding I had after having my son was so bad that it made me weak. His wife was on this medication and talked to me about it. I have seen information about it for many years and thought I would try it. I was lucky enough to have a doctor tell me that I can take the pill continually for the whole time, and when it was time to take the yellow pills, to go ahead and take the first pill of the new pack. After having my son, I have always been a 'bigger girl,' and just this past summer, I have started to lose weight. Yes, I had spotting, but that was due to me losing 4 inches in my belly."

For Birth Control "I have been on Seasonique for 2 weeks. I love this pill, although I haven't been on it very long, I have noticed my increased sex drive with my husband. I haven't had any symptoms other than some spotting that happened once. I would definitely recommend this pill to every woman."

For Birth Control "I've been on Seasonique for about a year now. Overall, it's great, while the birth control is pretty pricey in my area (it's about 90 dollars a month where I live), but it's worth it. I've had no problems with this pill except the occasional spotting. It actually cleared my skin, while I do have an occasional spot. I don't get headaches, backaches, or many other side effects. I guess the pill is different for everyone, but for me, this works like a charm! It's great only having my period once every three months."

For Birth Control "I’ve been on this pill for about 8 months now. During the last month of the pack (because it’s a 3-month pack), I constantly spot, and the last week of the 3rd month, I have VERY heavy periods with horrible cramping. I’m on my 8th month and still have 2 weeks left and started spotting today. I thought it would subside, but it hasn’t. My anxiety is the worst it’s ever been. I thought it would get better with the spotting and bleeding, but it hasn’t. The only good thing is my face has cleared up, but it’s not worth being on my period for a whole month. Definitely switching ASAP."

"I first started taking this when I was 18. After taking it for over a year and still not having my periods regulated, I decided to get off of it. I got on it again a year and a half ago (I'm 21 now), and I'm still not pleased with it. If I forget to take a pill one day, I'll spot for up to a week. My periods are really light every 3 months, but they can last up to 2 weeks. I've gained 10 lbs while being on it. I'm just finishing up my last pack and am getting back on Yaz."

For Birth Control "I have been on Seasonique for almost 6 months now. I love it. At first, I spotted, cried for no reason, terrible headaches, was very moody, achy, had acne (which I have never had, and I'm almost 20), and was tired, but now it's great. Just take them on time every day and do not miss a pill or you will start spotting. I have no symptoms and do not have to eat with it anymore either."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I have used 3 different birth control brands (Yasmin, Ortho Tri-Cyclen, and Yaz) before trying out the generic of Seasonique. It worked great for the first 2 months, then I had some light spotting that got heavier every day until it was heavier than any past menstrual cycle. I bled (regular to very heavy) and cramped every day for the next 4 months. Even when starting a new pack, taking it at the same time, at night, with iron-nothing I did made this bleeding get lighter or go away until I stopped taking them. Then I got my period normally every month, but it's been far heavier than it has ever been in my life. Last month, my period came early, and this month it came only 2 weeks after my last period. This RX has my body all out of whack."

For Birth Control "I was attracted to the four periods a year setup. I had really bad cramps and spotting for the first 8 to 9 months on Seasonique. I continued to have intermittent cramps and spotting after. One strange side effect is that after an orgasm I would have terrible cramping and blood a little later. Not pleasant. I also gained about 10 lbs in one year, which is not normal for me. I go to a gym and avoid junk food. I was generally puffy, and no matter how much weight training and cardio I did, could NOT GET IN SHAPE. I'm switching back to Loestrin after I get my weight back to normal. This is an effective birth control, but the side effects were a bit unpleasant in my experience."

For Polycystic Ovary Syndrome "My journey with this BC has been extremely rough, but worth it! I have been diagnosed with PCOS, GERD, IBS-D, generalized anxiety disorder, PTSD, and manic depressive disorder. My gynecologist instructed me to give it 6 months before discontinuing. The first 2 weeks were normal. Then I had spotting for 4 weeks straight. I could deal with that. I figured I hadn't had my period in months due to PCOS, so it would take time to regulate. At the 6-week mark, I got the heaviest menses of my life with extreme cramping. Ended up in the ER twice. Had my period for 12 weeks straight. Off for 3 weeks, back on for 4 weeks. And then it started working normally. Now I have no symptoms at all and get my period every 3 months like clockwork!"

For Ovarian Cysts "It has been a month since I have been taking Seasonique. So far, the only thing I noticed is an increase in appetite, waking up earlier, not sleeping soundly enough, feeling bloated all the time, and the bleeding is just ridiculous. I have been spotting/bleeding since the first day. But, I am not going to give up, I want to see what happens and if it's good. I just can't quit smoking, and that worries me. Good luck!"

For Birth Control "My mood got absolutely crazy in the first 3 weeks. I also had spots for over a month. After that, my mood got back to normal, but I still have spotting from time to time. Even so, after coming into the 4th month with the pill, I can say that I am very happy about it. It is a little pricey, but I like the fact that the periods are really under control. I had heavy bleeding that lasted for 7-8 days a month, and now things are so much more under control. If you are going through tough times in the beginning, do not give up. That will pass."
