For Birth Control "I used to have really bad cramping and a really heavy flow before I started this birth control. I've been taking it for a year now, and my period is only four days compared to the week and a half it used to be. I did gain a bit of weight, but it was all in the boobs area. Love this birth control!"

For Birth Control "I've been on this now for a little over a year. At first, the birth control worked great for me! I would only have about four-day periods, and I barely ever had cramps. But starting about three or four months ago, every time I'm not supposed to be on my period, I will start on my first or second week of the pills and will be on it until my month of pills is gone. I'm not sure if it's my body's way of saying it doesn't like this pill anymore or what. Has this happened to anyone else? I'm going to my gyno soon, and I want to either switch my BC or get completely off it."

For Birth Control "This is by far the absolute worst birth control. It does its job at preventing pregnancy, but everything else is just awful. A week into it, I was ready to stop taking it! I had awful headaches and strong cramping and stayed nauseous. I gained a good bit of weight immediately, my face broke out and I was like, it's just side effects, it will go away when it gets in my system good. So I continued to take it. I stopped after completing the first pack. I had felt like a crazy person, my anxiety was through the roof, I was having mood swings, I didn't care about life, I went into an awful depression, and I was like, nope, can't do this, I knew it was the meds. So I stopped and little by little my stomach pains went away, the headaches were gone, my face started to clear up and I started my period again a week later and all the swelling went down, my mood swings, everything. But I have currently been bleeding nonstop, extremely heavy for 2 weeks now, no pains or anything."

For Birth Control "I've been on this pill for 4 months now, and it's made my acne worse than ever. I have breakouts on my chest and never had before using the pill. My cramps are the same, and periods have not become shorter. I am switching brands."

For Birth Control "Oh my God. Worst birth control ever. My insurance switched my birth control about a year ago. I have experienced such horrible anxiety, it is unbelievable. At first, I thought it was just me, but no way. I was even put on anxiety medication, which has not helped me at all. It has almost ruined my relationship. Yes, my periods are shorter and my cramps are finally gone, but it’s not worth it. I am switching immediately. Oh, and yes, it does a great job protecting against pregnancy. But like I said, I’d rather feel sane and keep my relationship."

For Ovarian Cysts "I am 40 years old. My doctor prescribed this medication to treat heavy bleeding due to an ovarian cyst that developed after several Clomid cycles with my infertility specialist. After three months, my periods are regular again, but at the cost of several unpleasant side effects. I have painful cystic acne in my genitalia, I have gone from being calm and relaxed to short-tempered, and my sleep cycles have been disrupted, leaving me tired all the time. The first day or two of my period is extremely painful, but that may be due to the fact that I have more like a 25-day cycle and the pill is trying to force a 28-day cycle."

For Birth Control "I used this birth control for about 10 months before getting off of it. While on it, I must say it did very well at managing my periods. I did not have a heavy flow or a lot of pain. This was very nice because I usually have rough periods. However, I did notice that my libido lowered, and I was more dry. I also gained weight while on it and really struggled to lose it. Honestly, getting off it was the best for me. While my rough periods did return, everything else went back to normal as well. I'm definitely looking into a different option post-pregnancy."

For Birth Control "I've been on Orsythia for about a year now, and it's been the best birth control I've been on. All the others made me very emotional and gain weight. At first, there was some nausea, but eating before taking the pill helped. There's also breast tenderness when my period starts, but that's no surprise. I haven't gained any weight, my acne cleared up, and I've never had a pregnancy scare while on this pill, even after unprotected sex with my boyfriend. Overall, I'd say it's doing a good job."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "To preface this, this is merely my experience, for everyone's experience may be different. I was prescribed this after having abnormal periods (skipping 1-3 months, and upon arrival, lasting for 1-2 weeks in addition to excruciating pain). During the first month, the first week I felt somewhat nauseated and tired, but the rest it cleared away. Acne was gone, the period was lighter. However, starting now on the second month, I am completely repulsed by food and have other gastrointestinal symptoms on top of pre-existing conditions (which is a problem for someone who does weight training), and I'm tired pretty often, thus I will no longer be taking it. Additionally, Orsythia has also made my mental illness symptoms far worse."

For Birth Control "I was put on this BC because it was what my insurance was covering. I was on it for about 9 months. Prior to using Orsythia, I was on Lutera. I am now back on Lutera, thank goodness! They supposedly have the same ingredients, but Orsythia really made me feel awful. Here is what went on. Every month was different, some months I was extremely emotional, other months my breasts would get very tender, all the way through the nipple, ouch! I would also get frequent headaches, like maybe 4 a week. There was more cramping too. I connected the dots and told my Dr. and she switched me back to Lutera and put on the prescription that there should be no substitutions. I have been fine for the past 6 months since I changed back. Orsythia sucks if you ask me."

For Birth Control "Just started my second pack of this pill. I switched from Tri-Sprintec due to side effects from that, such as nausea, constant breast tenderness, and increased anxiety. I have had no side effects with Orsythia so far. My breasts did get tender before my period, but I'm used to that anyway. My period started the 3rd day of placebo pills, and I had mild cramping. My period did last for 5-7 days but was not heavy. My sex drive is pretty low, but it has been ever since I started taking any form of birth control about 7 months ago. Overall, I'm really pleased with this pill!"

For Birth Control "I switched to this from Loestrin FE 1/20 and got my sex drive back, acne cleared up, and I barely notice that I am on this pill. No longer dizzy or hormonally sad, or feeling like everything is cloudy. I also actually have a noticeable period and no longer spot throughout the month. I do have bad cramps again, but I've always had cramps. Best switch!"

For Birth Control "I have tried probably about 8 different birth control pills trying to find the right one, and Orsythia is it! I used to get yeast infections right before my period like clockwork, not an issue as soon as I began this one. I have been on it for 3 years, and sexually active the entire time without condoms, and have not gotten pregnant. I haven't noticed any breast tenderness or nausea (and I have a SUPER sensitive stomach and am nauseated by many things). The only side effect I have been able to notice is vaginal dryness, but this has happened with every hormonal contraceptive I tried. Clearly this isn't the pill for everyone, but for people who are having trouble finding the right one, give it a chance, it truly changed my life."

For Birth Control "Been on this BC for three months now. I switched to this type in hopes that I would be able to regain my sex drive, but I was a bit put off after seeing such terrible reviews. I'll start by saying I do not experience anywhere near the severity of side effects most people are reporting. I have not gained any weight, but my breasts have filled out a bit. I currently don't experience any mood changes, although between the first and second month, I noticed that I was quick to get angry at smaller things much more frequently. This is no longer happening. My only complaint is the acne--I get a few cystic pimples on my chin on the weeks where I am on the active pills. Overall, I am very happy with this birth control."

For Birth Control "Worst experience of my life. I got it when my pharmacy replaced my Lutera with a generic. I felt horrible on it. Crazy emotions and no sex drive. Went to a different pharmacy and got back on my old brand. The first month of getting it out of my system has led to a month-long period of brown discharge that only explodes out when you have sex. It's ruining my sex life with my boyfriend. Most horrible BC ever. Just say no."

For Birth Control "I was given this to treat my cystic acne and severe mood swings due to PMDD. This isn't my first time on birth control, either. Orsythia has been working well, a little too well! My acne vanished, my skin texture changed (for the better), and I no longer lash out at anyone for simply calling my name. However, now that it's been in my system for 5 months, I've developed dependent edema. My legs swell up like balloons, and they're firm to the touch. Anyway, overall, it works great, but with that nasty edema, I've been switched to a lower dosage of another brand. If you need a BC with some UMF!, Orsythia is your best bet. If not, find something weaker."

For Birth Control "Well, I've been taking it for about 5 months now, and my acne has cleared up, but sometimes I feel like it isn't working, so I get pregnancy scares. But my period has been shortened, and my cramping is still the same. I just don't cramp as much anymore."

For Birth Control "Like many other reviewers, I too was switched by my pharmacy from Aviane to Orsythia. I decided to give it a try because my doctor said that they both had the same ingredients and were made by the same company. I never experienced any side effects from Aviane, even when first taking them. Since I've been switched to Orsythia, I've experienced all the unpleasant side effects: nausea, massive weight gain (95 lb to 101 lb), breakouts, and major mood swings."

For Birth Control "I have had no problems on Orsythia, and have been very happy with it. My periods are much lighter and of shorter duration. I did not experience weight gain, decreased sex drive, and my skin/monthly breakouts did not increase. I have seen a small enhancement in breast size/mass, which was not a dramatic increase, but I was pleased about that. I rate it a 9/10 because this is the only pill I have tried, so I can't fully rate it a 10 without any form of comparison. I also had wished that I would completely prevent my monthly hormone-drop associated breakouts, but those were just high hopes. Overall for me, an effective pill in preventing pregnancy without any adverse side effects to speak of."

For Birth Control "After taking Lutera for 4 years, the pharmacy changed my prescription to Orsythia. I had little to no side effects with Lutera, now I have mood swings, acne under my chin, my cycle used to be every 28 days, now my periods are irregular. I will get my period again during the second week of the new pack. My cycle used to be 3 days, now at least a week. I was becoming afraid that something was wrong with me until I read the reviews. I'm going back to my OB-GYN!"

For Birth Control "I found this drug to be very effective. I had previously tried Loestrin 24 Fe and Minerva and had awful side effects (mood swings, crying, etc.) within the first week of taking each drug. I then took Orsythia for 3 months and had no side effects! I was not at all moody, bloated, did not experience breakthrough bleeding, and did not become pregnant. Although the pill has many bad reviews, I'd recommend this birth control to people who may have had bad side effects on other birth control hormones and are looking for one that fits their needs!"

For Birth Control "Was only on it for 4 months to regulate my period. Started out okay and periods were light and on schedule. The last 2 months I was on it I had my period for two weeks!! Also made me very depressed, I gained weight, craved food 24/7, and retained water and felt bloated all the time."

For Birth Control "I like this pill! Ended my 2nd month, and no nausea or irregular bleeding. I was on a higher dose pill before and was absolutely sick from it. My period is right on time from last month, and I will continue this pill! It works great considering the condom fell off a few times, makes me absolutely thankful I'm on birth control!"

For Ovarian Cysts "I was taking Orsythia for about 2 years, but I switched to a stronger kind, which was the biggest mistake I've ever made. Orsythia did wonders for my acne. I tend to get cystic acne, but when I was on this pill, I would break out maybe once every three months. Also, my ovarian cyst went away, and my periods weren't as painful and a lot lighter. The only thing it didn't help was my anxiety, but it definitely didn't make it worse. I love this pill, but it seems to affect everyone differently, so you won't know unless you try it."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I have been on Orsythia for 6 months for controlling dysmenorrhea, or painful periods. Before starting birth control overall two years ago, I missed at least two days of school and work a month because my cramps, backache, nausea, and headaches prevented me from doing more than sitting in bed crying. After Orsythia, I barely get a period, it lasts four days, and I rarely need to use anything more than a pantiliner. I get the occasional cramp, but nothing unmanageable. I love this pill!"
