For Birth Control "This was the first birth control that I've ever tried, and I've honestly experienced no problems with it. I had mild nausea for the first two months and an irregular period, but my body quickly adjusted to it. I think that all of the bad reviews on here are from people whose body was just so adjusted to that other pill that they just couldn't take this one. My sex drive is good, my weight is steady, my face is clear, and I'm not pregnant."

For Birth Control "Only been taking Orsythia for under a month, and it was perfect at first, but towards the end of the first month, my stomach always hurts, like it feels like it's bubbly or you could say hungry. Loss of appetite as well, eat half my food and then feel like throwing up. I hope these are the only problems I have, or I will switch to a different one."

For Birth Control "I was nervous taking this med after reading negative reviews, but after a rough first week that included nausea (quelled by taking Dramamine), a nasty headache, having my face break out (I am 46 and do not get breakouts), and then breakthrough bleeding...everything calmed, and I've loved the medicine ever since. All the original side effects went right away, and my period was extremely light and short...love it. Glad my Dr. convinced me to stick with it because I almost quit taking it."

For Birth Control "I've been on the pills for 2 months, and I have been so emotional, as in depressed. I've had a little bit of acne, but it's not that bad. No weight gain, in fact, I've lost 5 pounds. Very, very nauseous but can't throw up. Headaches here and there. I'm not sure if I'll switch just yet... I'll probably try it out a little longer."

For Birth Control "I started taking this pill when my pharmacy switched it out from my regular Aviane. (Which is supposed to be exactly the same.) The first week or so, I was incredibly nauseous. Another thing I've noticed is how incredibly tired I've been. I wake up tired. It's really strange because this is a brand new thing since starting this pill. My sex drive has also taken a turn for the worse. Mainly due to being so tired by the time my kids go to bed, I'm practically asleep myself. That was never a problem before. Now that I'm nearing my first period on the pill, I have extreme PMS symptoms. Mainly feeling weepy and actually crying about things I would not normally. The worst, though, is my temper. I feel like I'm about to snap frequently."

For Birth Control "I was also switched from Aviane to Orsythia. I am halfway through month two, and the fatigue, bloating, and nausea are so bad I actually thought I was pregnant! I will be stopping mid-pack as I spent the entire day at work trying to not get sick all over my desk. I'm also waiting for my doc to write me a new prescription."

For Birth Control "I was given Orsythia because my pharmacy had told me that Aviane was being discontinued. I was also told they were the same thing and made by the same manufacturer. I contacted Teva and was told that the information I was given was wrong, that Aviane is not discontinued and not under the same manufacturer. Aviane was perfect for me: no acne, perfect moods, energy, and a good appetite (I need weight gain). The first week of Orsythia consisted of meltdowns, frequent headaches, dizziness, slight nausea, and acne-lots of acne. Into the second week, my nausea became a little bit worse and my temper would easily be disturbed, I also experienced very bothersome breast soreness. Stick to what works for you and do your research!"

For Birth Control "I've been on Orsythia since I was 14. I am now almost 19. I am nauseous a lot and cry for no reason. I am very moody all of the time and have a lot of mood swings. I have an EXTREMELY low sex drive, to the point that I think it will ruin my relationship someday. I am sexually active, but I am always safe using condoms, so I haven't gotten pregnant. For me, Orsythia has stopped the clotting during my periods, but I still will get cramps and my periods will sometimes be very heavy. I never got acne, so that hasn't been a problem for me. If I were you, I would steer clear of Orsythia and make this your last choice for birth control."

For Birth Control "The only reason I even give this two stars is because I never had an issue with pregnancy on this pill. I started with Aviane (which I had no side effects and generally felt great) and was switched to this by my pharmacy. Since then, things have gone downhill. I had very mild anxiety before going on the pill, Aviane did nothing to it, but Orsythia has amplified it to the point where I've really struggled with my anxiety and mood swings. A few days before my period, the smallest things will set me off into episodes of weeping and panic. I've gained some weight (5 pounds). Experienced nausea every so often (more than Aviane). Worst is the cystic acne on my chin. While my periods have been lighter and shorter, cramps have gotten worse. Terrible."

For Birth Control "The worst birth control I've taken. I started getting side effects right away: pimples everywhere, would feel nauseous after I took the pill, and felt bloated all day. If you're reading this review and considering taking this birth control, don't. The only reason I was given this pill was that my original birth control (Lutera) was on backorder."

For Birth Control "When I first went on the pill, it was to help with my PMDD, which I will say helped significantly. However, I have no sex drive. I used to masturbate at least once or twice every day, but now I'm lucky if I can even make myself orgasm in a month. Orgasms don't feel very good anymore, and nothing turns me on. Sex is painful and boring. Other than that, it did make my periods a bit shorter, which is one positive of this pill. The first week I was on the pill, I was super queasy, ugh! Some other side effects have been weight gain (only about 3-5 pounds, but still) and horrible acne in the first 3 months. I'm seeing my OB-GYN soon because my low sex drive is hurting my relationship and makes life miserable."

For Birth Control "This is by far the absolute worst birth control. It does its job at preventing pregnancy, but everything else is just awful. A week into it, I was ready to stop taking it! I had awful headaches and strong cramping and stayed nauseous. I gained a good bit of weight immediately, my face broke out and I was like, it's just side effects, it will go away when it gets in my system good. So I continued to take it. I stopped after completing the first pack. I had felt like a crazy person, my anxiety was through the roof, I was having mood swings, I didn't care about life, I went into an awful depression, and I was like, nope, can't do this, I knew it was the meds. So I stopped and little by little my stomach pains went away, the headaches were gone, my face started to clear up and I started my period again a week later and all the swelling went down, my mood swings, everything. But I have currently been bleeding nonstop, extremely heavy for 2 weeks now, no pains or anything."

For Birth Control "I've been on Orsythia for about a year now, and it's been the best birth control I've been on. All the others made me very emotional and gain weight. At first, there was some nausea, but eating before taking the pill helped. There's also breast tenderness when my period starts, but that's no surprise. I haven't gained any weight, my acne cleared up, and I've never had a pregnancy scare while on this pill, even after unprotected sex with my boyfriend. Overall, I'd say it's doing a good job."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "To preface this, this is merely my experience, for everyone's experience may be different. I was prescribed this after having abnormal periods (skipping 1-3 months, and upon arrival, lasting for 1-2 weeks in addition to excruciating pain). During the first month, the first week I felt somewhat nauseated and tired, but the rest it cleared away. Acne was gone, the period was lighter. However, starting now on the second month, I am completely repulsed by food and have other gastrointestinal symptoms on top of pre-existing conditions (which is a problem for someone who does weight training), and I'm tired pretty often, thus I will no longer be taking it. Additionally, Orsythia has also made my mental illness symptoms far worse."

For Birth Control "Just started my second pack of this pill. I switched from Tri-Sprintec due to side effects from that, such as nausea, constant breast tenderness, and increased anxiety. I have had no side effects with Orsythia so far. My breasts did get tender before my period, but I'm used to that anyway. My period started the 3rd day of placebo pills, and I had mild cramping. My period did last for 5-7 days but was not heavy. My sex drive is pretty low, but it has been ever since I started taking any form of birth control about 7 months ago. Overall, I'm really pleased with this pill!"

For Birth Control "Like many other reviewers, I too was switched by my pharmacy from Aviane to Orsythia. I decided to give it a try because my doctor said that they both had the same ingredients and were made by the same company. I never experienced any side effects from Aviane, even when first taking them. Since I've been switched to Orsythia, I've experienced all the unpleasant side effects: nausea, massive weight gain (95 lb to 101 lb), breakouts, and major mood swings."

For Birth Control "I like this pill! Ended my 2nd month, and no nausea or irregular bleeding. I was on a higher dose pill before and was absolutely sick from it. My period is right on time from last month, and I will continue this pill! It works great considering the condom fell off a few times, makes me absolutely thankful I'm on birth control!"

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I have been on Orsythia for 6 months for controlling dysmenorrhea, or painful periods. Before starting birth control overall two years ago, I missed at least two days of school and work a month because my cramps, backache, nausea, and headaches prevented me from doing more than sitting in bed crying. After Orsythia, I barely get a period, it lasts four days, and I rarely need to use anything more than a pantiliner. I get the occasional cramp, but nothing unmanageable. I love this pill!"

For Birth Control "I’ve used Orsythia for two years without any issues. I have a long history of anxiety, and it has not been affected by the pill, nor have I experienced any nausea. I take it precisely at the same time every day, and it has worked great. I’ve put on a few pounds, but I think everyone should evaluate their diet before blaming the pill. It’s pretty much impossible for a pill to make you gain 20+ pounds unless your diet is unhealthy and you’re lacking exercise. It’s a pretty generic birth control, and I would assume that the horrifying side effects listed by previous reviews are probably rare and true for all birth control on the market. So, give it a try, it’s not a miracle pill, but it’s not an anxiety-inducing weight gain supplement either."

For Birth Control "Very slight nausea feeling when I take it, but I learned to avoid it by taking it just before I go to sleep. It makes my breasts swollen, which looks good but feels horrible. It's fairly painful. It causes me to sweat more than normal and causes excessive vaginal lubrication to the extreme. Some people might not mind, but when it's so noticeable you feel like you peed yourself and you no longer have friction during intercourse to the point of embarrassment (a problem I've never had). I never got pregnant, so that's a plus."

For Birth Control "I’ve used this pill for 3 years now. I’ve experienced depression, cramping, towards the end of the pack I get extreme nausea prior to my period. Not sure what that is, but you get used to it. This month I noticed my pack changed. I'm 4 days in, and on my 3rd day, my pill tastes disgusting! I thought maybe I had something on my hands, but it happened again tonight! The pill literally tastes like poison!!! I almost threw up. I had to brush my teeth and tongue immediately to get the taste out. Furthermore, I’ve been coughing since Monday and have a taste in my mouth. I think I now owe this to the pill. I am not sure what they did with the change, but the colors of the pills are now 21 white and 7 pink placebo. It used to be pink for 22. Also, the packet is smaller, that’s fine. Except something is different. I’m going to try to take one from a different pack tomorrow and see if it’s my pack or not, but I’m thinking something is up."

For Birth Control "I have only been taking this birth control for 3 weeks now. I used to take Cryselle, which I was on for 2 years, and never experienced any problems with it besides weight gain, which was around 20 pounds. I have been off of Cryselle for a year now, but about 2 and a half months ago, I got into a new relationship, so I decided to get back on the pill. I went to Planned Parenthood, where they prescribed me Orsythia, and the doctor mentioned to me that spotting, nausea, and feeling 'funny' were the most common side effects. Let me say that my pill was not covered by my health insurance, so I had to throw a fit at my insurance company, CVS, and the doctor. Orsythia costs me $27 a month. Anyway, about a week and a half after 'rapid starting' the pill on a Friday, I began to notice I was grinding and clenching my teeth. I put this off until I started to realize I was so anxiety-ridden that I couldn't sleep, eat, and I felt as if I was almost in a dream-like state. Not to mention, I do have manic-depressive disorder, and it is clearly stated that Orsythia can worsen symptoms in mentally ill patients. Other than the extremely severe anxiety, the pill itself is not so bad. My first period only lasted about two and a half days, I had no cramping at all and I usually cramp before and during my period. I also had unprotected sex 'exactly' 7 days after beginning the pill, so it's safe to say that it does the job at preventing pregnancy, it's just the side effects that make it so horrible."

For Birth Control "I've been on Orsythia for 3 weeks. The side effects I'm having are nightly nausea, probably 4-5 nights a week. One night my first week, I did vomit. Ugh, it's been miserable. The other main side effect is that I have had my period for 15 days now. It's a regular flow too! That has honestly been obnoxious too. I am not sexually active, so I don't know if it is working to actually be birth control. I will say though, I have depression and anxiety, and I have NO noticeable mood changes, which is awesome :) also no weight gain! Woo! My boobs are a little bigger though... which isn't so bad ;) anyways I think it's a lot better than Beyaz, which I was on about 4 years ago."

For Birth Control "I honestly didn't have a problem with this pill the first 9 months I was on it. After that though, my breasts grow and really hurt every single month, then shrink back to normal before my period begins. I've experienced nausea, super low sex drive, tender breasts, increase of appetite, you name it! I'm paranoid that I'm pregnant every month on this stuff! I'm finishing the last pack and switching for sure!"

For Birth Control "I used to get extremely heavy periods and very severe cramps, and I was looking for a birth control pill that would help with it. My OB/GYN prescribed me Orsythia, and I was a little worried about side effects from what I've read online from others. But, I had none! No weight gain, mood swings, acne, or nausea! Nothing at all! My problems with cramps and heavy periods went away within three months, and there was a definite improvement right when I started taking it. No more cramps or acne, and my periods are now super light! I can't speak for everyone, since hormone pills will affect everyone differently, but this pill was a perfect match for me! I'd highly recommend it for birth control and managing difficult periods."
