For Birth Control "I started taking Orsythia about four months ago. This was my first experience on birth control, so I was incredibly apprehensive about the side effects, namely: migraines, birth control, and mood swings. The first two months, everything went so smoothly. These last two months, I have been shocked by the adverse effects I've experienced. I have had issues with water weight gain, which fluctuates between 3 and 5 pounds, and nausea. But the biggest issue I have found with this medication would be the anxiety and depression. At first, I chalked it up to stress. However, people around me noticed that I have not been myself. I've felt edgy, irritable, overwhelmed, confused, and sensitive. I'm finishing this month, then switching to a new pill."

For Birth Control "This pill has been pretty good for me. It is a lower hormone dose than the many other pills I tried before, which gave me bad side effects. I had mild nausea and headaches with this pill for the first 3 months, but that's it. I have gained about 25 pounds in the 2 years I've used it, but I don't mind it as much as some other people. My sex drive has gone down a tiny bit, but nothing noticeable. I have sex frequently, using this as my only protection method, and I haven't had a pregnancy scare (granted, I am very good at taking it on time). This pill isn't perfect, but it's definitely the best one I've tried!"

For Birth Control "My experience was horrible. I had to stop because all the side effects became too much for me, and it was affecting my everyday work. As soon as I started taking this, I began getting headaches, nausea, dizziness, and my skin completely broke out. I have had good skin my whole life, and my face completely broke out. Also, my hair started falling out uncontrollably. I was afraid to even run my hand through my hair. I stopped taking this when these side effects became unbearable, and my lips even broke out. I began getting a lip rash and getting bumps all over my lips. The doctor said it was one of the side effects, in addition to my face breaking out. I was also crying all the time and overly emotional. The side effects were too much to handle."

For Birth Control "Worst birth control by far. It was 100 percent effective at preventing pregnancy, but the side effects were awful. I was switched to it after taking Lutera for 3 years because the health department ran out of Lutera. First off, the first month I took it, I constantly had a yeast infection. I ended up having breakthrough bleeding and periods that lasted at least a week. The other downside. I took it for several months and out of nowhere had such terrible breast pain and nausea I was convinced I was pregnant. It was that bad. They were never sensitive at all, just achy. Then I had chest pains. Also, the weight gain was awful and made me feel like a cow. The worst part was the anxiety and emotional roller coaster. After taking it for several months, I noticed my anxiety was at an all-time high and caused me to become so stressed out."

For Endometriosis "I have never felt worse in my life than the three weeks of my taking this pill. I was on Lutera for several years in college and was told after graduating that Orsythia was exactly the same. I can tell you it is not. I became nauseous to the point of being unable to eat, save for small bites of bland foods starting on day one after my first dose, lost 15 pounds (not great for someone with a history of ED), and became more anxious and depressed than ever. As someone with PTSD, GAD, and GDD, it was literally debilitating. I could not stop shaking and panicking until my placebo week, where my pain was minimal, and I felt fine after. Switched back to Lutera and have no problems. Do not take this med!"

For Birth Control "I’ve been taking Orsythia for years. There was a brief period when the pharmacy tried to switch me to another brand, but I experienced many negative side effects and requested to switch back. I’ve always considered myself to be a high-anxiety person, but the past year or so (on and off) my anxiety has been out of control. I’ve experienced more panic attacks during that time than in my entire life. I’ve had many check-ups and even wore a heart monitor to rule out other medical issues. At this point, I feel like I’m going crazy. I don’t know why I never considered the BC could be elevating my anxiety through the years. As far as managing my cramps, this pill has been great and has given me a much lighter period. I’m curious if anyone has had similar issues? I’ve regularly experienced nausea in the past, but it seems this pill is suddenly changing for me now."

For Birth Control "I have been taking this birth control for 3 days, and I can already tell what the side effects are. I have horrible nausea and have been vomiting. My legs and feet are swollen, I have started getting acne on my jawline, and I have been having the worst cramps ever. Gonna stick with it for a week until my doctor gets back to prescribe new medication."

For Birth Control "Worse birth control that I have ever been on. I am 30 and started taking Orsythia to help with pain before and during my period. Shortly after starting, my face started to break out all over, and then two weeks later, I went to the ER for chest pain. X-rays and an EKG say that I'm fine, and the doc said that it could be inflammation causing the pain. My breathing is all over the place now when I exercise, I feel nauseous and want to vomit most of the time, and now I'm getting anxiety from all of this. I have three more pills until my period, but I'm no longer going to take them. Setting up a doc appointment to get this cleared up."

"I've been on this birth control for about 2 weeks now (I know it's early), but I've had a horrible experience so far! I've had constant headaches, constant vaginal discharge (a lot at that), deep severe stomach pains, and my sex drive is not there. I have been very depressed, and I cry all the time over nothing. Some nights, with the pain of nausea and headaches, I've wanted to go get checked out. I'm acne prone, so I break out anyway, but I have noticed recently more acne starting to pop up. When this pack is done, I'm definitely going to ask to switch because constant pain is not worth it."

For Birth Control "I switched from Microgestin FE 20, which was good, but my body got used to it, and I started getting abnormal periods. Switched to this, did not gain weight, so far it's been a smooth transition. The only thing that I do not like is that I get a lot of nausea while I'm on my period. I hope with time it'll go away. Other than that, it's a good form of BC."

For Birth Control "I wanted to share my experience with this Orsythia pill. Well, I have now been taking it for about 5 months, and I love it. I was on the Nexplanon for 6 months before I changed to the pill, and it was the worst-so many symptoms, like headaches and nausea, and always so hungry. When I had my son, I was weighing 200 pounds before I had him and lost 30 when I gave birth, so I was down to 170. I tried my hardest to lose weight with the Nexplanon after inserting it after giving birth. I dieted well, eating 1,200 or fewer calories a day, doing 3 hours of workouts, and nothing. Right when I switched to the pill, I started losing weight rapidly. I was at 170, and now I'm at 142 in less than 4 months, and I haven't been as hungry ❤."

For Birth Control "Orsythia was the first birth control pill I had ever been on, and for the first 2-3 months, I had extreme nausea when taking it, which I was warned by my doctor that could be a side effect in the adjustment period. I would take the pill at night and made sure I ate something before I took it, but I would still get extremely nauseous. My periods were not affected by Orsythia, but I did notice it helped reduce cramping. The main problem I had with Orsythia was the weight gain, which was a substantial amount. I gained about 25 pounds in the year of taking Orsythia, and I have never gained that much weight in that time span ever before. My doctor is switching me to a different birth control."

For Birth Control "I have been on this pill for 7 months, and it is good except for the extreme nausea, and it causes me to not want to eat sometimes. So I have lost weight except in my boobs, which actually stayed at my normal C cup. If you have anxiety and anxiety attacks like I do, just know that any hormonal birth control can make them more frequent."

For Birth Control "This is by far the worst birth control I have ever experienced. I have been on the pill for 5 years, and this was given to me as a filler between my annual exam (I normally have a different brand). I had no idea that brands can differ so much, and I thought nothing of it. Right away on this pill, I became sick to my stomach and thought I had the flu. I had horrible gas and heartburn. My breasts hurt horribly. I got horrible acne all over my chin! Then, by the third week, I started to feel mild cramping in my calf and sharp pains all over my body. This pill has inspired me to go off the pill in general. Horrible experience."

For Birth Control "I'm 19. I've been on Orsythia/Sronyx for 7 months now. The first 5 months were fine, cleared up my acne, regulated my periods, and prevented pregnancy. The last 2 months have been extremely difficult. I had previous issues with anxiety and panic, which I thought I dealt with until 2 months ago, when I experienced very extreme anxiety. I thought it was work stress, but I felt I was going crazy; migraines, insomnia, weeping, nausea for weeks. It has been a while since then, and life has calmed down, but I am still not feeling like myself, and so I am contemplating switching the pill. Orsythia also gave me recurrent and niggling yeast infections, which was annoying. At the end of the day, it does its job, but if you're predisposed to anxiety, be wary."
