For Birth Control "I am only on week 2 of Lutera, and I am stopping it. I know you should wait for the first few cycles to really get a feel for it, however, I cannot take the side effects anymore. Even after the first week in, I felt weird. My mood was so weird, I was all over the place. Crying for no reason, irrational thoughts, angry outbursts. Then I started having the weirdest cravings and nausea as bad as my morning sickness was. So bad that I went and bought a pregnancy test while I was spotting because I was convinced I was pregnant (negative). I haven’t been on it long enough to know if I would gain weight, but I can already tell by the way my appetite has been that I would have. Cramps and bloating with bleeding during week 2. BAD idea to use this form."

For Birth Control "I have been on Lutera for almost a year, and that's the first and only birth control pill I've ever been on, so I can't compare it to others. However, I have found this pill pretty good. The lower dosage of hormone still works as well as any other pill as long as you wait about three months after starting it. My skin got so much softer, and my periods are now very predictable. My breasts got a lot fuller (B-D cup), and my hair grew longer and is now shinier. I have mild mood swings, but that's how I was before I started Lutera, so I doubt it's due to the pill. I did gain some weight, I get a few stomach cramps, and my breasts hurt a little from time to time. Everyone's different, and I recommend this pill to not only first-time users, but to everyone."

For Birth Control "Since pills work differently depending on the individual, I think it's important to know a little about the person reviewing. I'm 5'1", Asian, 105 lbs. Lutera is the second birth control pill I've tried, before was Beyaz. I do like Lutera better, as Beyaz was depressing. I've been taking Lutera for 4 months now. I have noticed a difference with my period timing. It would come earlier than the average 28-day cycle but would only last 3-4 days. These past two months, it has only lasted 3 days. The pill seems REALLY effective, considering sometimes I forget to take my pill at the designated time. NO difference in acne for me."

For Birth Control "I'm 23, and I've been taking Lutera for 2.5 years now. At first, it was great, I didn't have any side effects except for mood swings now and then. But after 2 years, I've lost my sex drive almost completely and have a lot of trouble with natural lubrication. I also have really dry eyes. At least I haven't gotten pregnant, I have an alarm to let me know to take it, so I have never missed a pill and have taken it within the same 10-minute time frame every day. Today, I ordered the Skyla after talking it through with my doctor, and I can't wait to not have to remember to take a pill anymore."

For Birth Control "I have been on this birth control pill for 2 years now. I have not had any trouble with it ever and really was happy with it. I've heard my girlfriends talking about their birth control pills and how they have horrible side effects with them. I have always been happy with this pill and would recommend it to anyone!"

For Birth Control "I started Lutera about a month ago. I was on the Nuvaring before that. I switched to Lutera because being as active as I am, the Nuvaring somehow found its way out. Lutera is the first birth control pill that I have taken, and my experience has been great so far. The pills are small and easy to swallow, which was a huge plus! I did not have breakthrough bleeding on the pill like I did with the Nuvaring {I skip my periods purposely by starting a new pack instead of the inactive week pill/Nuvaring}, so that was fantastic as well. No pregnancies here, so it's been very effective for that! I never had any nausea with the pill, but I did have some weight gain {about 6 pounds, which did not make me happy!}."

For Birth Control "I have been taking Lutera since Aug 2012, and everything is good. I did gain a couple extra pounds (which I shed off pretty quickly due to having a fast metabolism), but that beats being pregnant when you are not ready. Also, my breasts are HUGE, and I am LOVING it! I have been taking this because of my irregular periods. I did have slight bleeding a few months ago for about 2-3 days, but after reading the pamphlet, that was listed as a side effect. I have noticed that I am a bit more moody, but all in all it works great for me. Everybody is different, so if it works for you, great. If not, there are dozens of other pills/methods."

For Birth Control "I've used about 3 different brands of birth control, and this one is by far the worst. I do not recommend. I took a break from pills for a couple of months, and when I started back up, I started using Lutera. I've been using it for 4-5 months, and I feel horrible. I can say that it does a great job at protecting from birth, and my periods haven't been a problem at all, but I feel horrible. I don't feel like myself at all. I feel disconnected/groggy almost all the time. My libido is completely gone now. Mood swings. I've been so unlike myself for the past few months, so I've decided to stop taking them."

For Birth Control "I have been on Lutera for over a year now, and it has been a great pill. I have had no weight gain, and in fact, lost a few pants sizes. It has cleared my face of breakouts, except for an occasional pimple or two around the time of my period. I was informed of a manufacturer change a couple of months ago and have noticed some changes. I get stomach cramps a week before my period, have been overly tired, and have been craving sweets when I normally don't like them. And in one of my recent periods, I stayed nauseous with no appetite and slept every chance I got. Not sure if this is due to being in the process of changing jobs, PMS, or the new manufacturer. If it is the new manufacturer, I will get my OB-GYN to switch me."

For Birth Control "My doctor prescribed Lutera for acne, which I was on for 3 months. My periods were lighter, but there was no improvement with my skin. What prompted me to write this review is how I believe it affected my mood. I started Lutera right before I moved overseas (stressful enough as it is). For these past 3 months, I've been more anxious than I've ever been in my life. Constant tightness in my chest, nervous for no reason, overwhelmed, irritable, etc. The smallest things felt unmanageable and crushing. I assumed this was just the stress of moving, so I tried to meditate and exercise, but the anxiety was still there. About 2 weeks ago, I ran out of pills. A few days after finishing the inactive pills, I noticed the anxiety was gone. Nothing has changed in my life, but I feel lighter and completely normal, without constant stage fright nervousness. I'd urge anyone who's feeling unlike their usual self to consider that the hormones may be hurting, not helping, their mood."

For Birth Control "I love Lutera. I am very sensitive to other forms of birth control. Lutera has been one of the only kinds I can take. Pros: light periods, no cramping, no intense side effects, bigger boobs. Cons: brown periods, slight weight gain. I also tend to get a bit emotional 1 or 2 days before my period, however, I am always an emotional person, so this could just be me. I have been on Lutera for 6 years."

For Birth Control "I have never taken birth control before, and for my size, my doctor recommended something with a very low dose of hormones, which was Lutera. When I first started taking it, I had extremely bad nausea for the first week that was impossible to cope with. Then I started getting really bad mood swings. I am always a positive person and happy all the time. This pill has completely changed my personality since I started taking it. I am always so tired and sleep 12 hours a day, I get so emotional over the smallest things and start crying at random times. I cannot go through a day without having a mini breakdown. I'm coming off this pill."

For Birth Control "It's been over half a year since I've been on this birth control, Lutera, and I have nothing but great things to say. It's affordable through means such as the pill club (online) for people with no insurance, and I experienced little to no side effects. I used to have excruciating cramps that would immobilize me, and I would have to take prescription-strength 800 mg ibuprofen to manage the pain, and even then it wouldn't go away. I used to bleed a lot with a lot of clotting, but since I've gotten on this pill, I only bleed lightly for about 2-3 days, and my cramps aren't even noticeable anymore. No weight gain, no acne. I feel beautiful, and my sex drive is also the same. I absolutely love this birth control. Especially after switching from Seasonique, which was the worst experience of my life, I was a completely different person, always moody, had food cravings and aversions, and basically felt pregnant all the time. I love, love, love this BC, it's perfect for me!"

For Birth Control "I started using Lutera for birth control and to regulate my periods. I thought that it was working fine for the first 6 months, but I started to put all my health concerns together. I already have a lot of health concerns, and it seemed to lower my immune system, so I got sick all the time. I got colds, flu, bronchitis, and was always having migraines. I stopped using it for a month and noticed I felt much better. I started it up again, and boom, within a week I felt bad again."

For Birth Control "I was so scared to go on birth control again after my horrendous experience with Loestrin Fe. I had mad rage, couldn't think clearly, an emotional mess, and worst of all, acne, something I never experienced before. I knew after a week I liked it. Mostly because my moods since I've been on it have been fabulous. My breasts got huge too! I did feel slight nausea and a loss of appetite, but I'm not complaining. Slight headache and light spotting. This doesn't bother me because I was mostly concerned with my moods shifting. I haven't noticed my skin look any better, but I've only been on it for 2 weeks."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "Excess facial hair has always been a problem for me, as well as abnormally heavy periods. For the first time in my life, I don't have to worry about waking up with dark hairs sprouting out of my chin. Three months ago, before taking this pill, I was plucking/waxing every day, and now my upper lip and chin hair have been reduced by 90%. I am 30 years old. Anyone else have this experience? OCs are not a common treatment for excess hair, and I'm wondering why, because this has been a life-changing experience for me. I don't think I am imagining things. I went from plucking at least once a day to a couple of times a week. Thanks for reading."

For Birth Control "Lutera made my hair fall out after 2 months of taking it. Completely upset about what it does to your hormones. Be careful, ladies. Not all birth control pills have such a high amount of androgenetic activity. Do your research. This has been the hardest year of my life recovering from the hair loss."

For Birth Control "I started Lutera about 2 weeks ago, and the only side effects I have noticed are slight tenderness and swelling of my breasts (not really a problem) and occasional mood swings (which are easy to control if you're aware you are having mood swings). At first, it was difficult remembering to take the pill, but I set an alarm on my cell to remind me. I set it for a time when I'm usually awake and not busy. The pill, however, like any other birth control, will cause slight weight gain, so it's wise to cut back on the amount of calories you consume while on this pill. It does not stop your period either, well at least not for me. My menstrual periods are much shorter and somewhat lighter, but still there. Also, I've noticed occasional, slight cramping."

For Birth Control "I switched to Lutera from Tri-Sprintec on my doctor's recommendation. Everyone reacts differently to birth controls, and my body did not like Lutera. I've gained about 15 lbs in 2 months of being on it. I'm extremely moody and borderline depressed, always tired, feel spaced out a lot, and I don't have much of an appetite, ever. Which made it even more frustrating that I was gaining weight. Planning on switching back to Yaz, I've never had side effects with that one, it was just more pricey."

For Birth Control "Just started 2nd month on this pill, Lutera. I have never taken any kind of hormonal birth control before this. So far, the side effects have been few and have been all positive. I've found that my mood is actually more regular in general (less feelings of anxiety and depression/PMDD), period is much lighter with no pain, and my breasts have grown (not tender). My libido has always been high and now seems to be the same, if not slightly higher. The security of knowing that it is extremely unlikely I'll get pregnant is the biggest bonus of all; that in itself has relieved so much stress for me and my partner and may be what is helping with my mood more so than the hormones. So far, so good. And so worth it for me."

For Birth Control "I used Lutera for just about 3-4 months, and loved it. No real side effects, switched to it from Ortho Tri-Lo. Didn't seem so hungry after I made the switch. After about 3-4 months, I switched to NuvaRing for ease of use. Just now starting the ring, and if it goes poorly, I would happily go back to Lutera."

For Birth Control "I love this birth control! I've been using Lutera for a month now. First time ever being on anything and at first I was very nauseous the first week taking it. I believe that was just my body getting used to it. I did spot after receiving my period. I've lost a total of 6 pounds in the first month and my breasts have gotten slightly plumper. Haven't experienced any mood swings. I guess everything works differently for everyone."

For Birth Control "I took Gildess Fe for years and loved it so much, but unfortunately, it is now discontinued, so my doctor put me on Lutera. The first pack of Lutera was miserable. I am the happiest person, and this pill put me in a bad mood all the time. Literally, everything pissed me off. I feel like I'm going through puberty all over again (in every possible way). Also, my periods on this pill last for 9 days when they usually last for 3. The biggest complaint I have is how it's affected my relationship with my boyfriend of 9 years. We have not had sex in a month because I have zero sex drive. I just finished my third pack and will be switching to Microgestin on Sunday."

For Birth Control "I have taken 4 other birth controls. I am now in college and recently had to get the IUD taken out, so my doctor prescribed me Lutera. It is the worst birth control ever. Wish I did my research. I’m going on month 5, and I feel like a psycho girl. I get so angry at the smallest things, cry all of the time, have anxiety over everything, and feel depression on the regular. You would be so surprised at how this pill can affect your moods for the absolute worse. I didn’t even realize. I am no longer taking it, I want my self back."

For Birth Control "I have taken Lutera for about two years. I used to have awful period cramps, since I started this pill, I haven't had any. I don't even remember what they feel like. Periods are super mild, I barely need anything. I never have acne. I have a breakout here and there, but that's life. My only complaint is that I gained weight. It makes me hungry constantly. I gained 10 lbs in two years. I could have kept off the weight if I watched what I ate and exercised more. Overall, great pill. It's also very effective."
