For Birth Control "This is the worst pill I have ever taken, and I've been on several. I didn't connect the dots until I had been on this pill for almost 4 months. The only pro was that it lessened cramps. CONS: Spotting for an entire month when I first started. My acne flared up uncontrollably. My mood swings were insane, and I thought I was depressed. I didn't realize that it was this awful pill doing this to my body. I wish I had never taken this pill."

For Birth Control "I've been on Lutera for 6 weeks now. Only con is acne, which is very mild. I'm 5'8" and 117 lbs. I've gained 7 pounds so far, which I love since I have a fast metabolism. My breasts grew also. I love Lutera so far. I'm looking and feeling great."

For Birth Control "My daughter took Lutera for two years. It took two months, but it definitely helped with her acne. She was very happy. Fast forward two years later, and now we are not sure what is going on, but the old acne is coming back. Time to find a new birth control."

For Birth Control "I've been on Lutera for 2 weeks now, and I hate it. I'm a 20-year-old college student, 5'3, 120 lbs. After taking Lutera, I now weigh 125 (already). I'm constantly crying at everything for no reason, and I never cried before. For example, I tried to cross the road to get to class, and I saw a car coming, so I cried. I was sitting in class and got hungry and had to forcefully hold tears back... Not normal. I also lash out very often at nothing I should be mad about. It's also making me break out SO MUCH!! Like huge cystic pimples that no one wants to see. I keep going back and forth about whether or not I should get off, 'cause, well, I don't want to get pregnant, but I also don't want to be fat, moody, and pimply."

For Birth Control "I love this birth control! I've tried several others (Lo Loestrin, etc.), but this product has been remarkably consistent for me with few, if any, side effects. Occasionally, if I miss a pill by more than a few hours, I might have some spotting, and on the first day I take the pill, I sometimes have a slight headache and find myself a little moodier. But honestly, compared to the other products, which have given me acne, mood swings, nausea, and other problems, I would take the few mild symptoms from this product in a heartbeat. Highly recommended!"

For Birth Control "I was taking Aviane before and transferred my prescription to a different pharmacy. There, they gave me Lutera since they did not have Aviane... Worst experience of my life. Constant headaches and acne were the main symptoms right before my period. Extremely painful periods as well. If you are experiencing these symptoms while on Lutera, I would highly recommend trying Aviane. I do not have any headaches or acne, and my periods are pain-free."

For Birth Control "I started this pill about a little over a year ago. This pill has done what I needed it to do: reduced my pain and regulated my period. I cannot say this pill is for everyone, we all have different compositions, but I will say it worked for me and share the experiences I had with this medication. Note: this is an ideal pill if you cannot do too high a dosage or too low of a dosage for your birth control. I did not lose any of my libido within the period of transition from my previous pill, and I did not gain any noticeable weight on this medication. I will say that I had a couple of painful periods after finally having sex, but I think that was more due to my body adjusting than anything else. I did get some acne, but it was mild."

For Birth Control "I have been on Lutera for around 2-3 months now, and I absolutely hate it. I switched to this BC because my other one had too much iron in it. First of all, my acne is horrible now. It has never been this bad. And my boobs are way bigger and always sore, and I also feel like I’ve gained a lot of weight and am always bloated. I also feel like I am constantly in this “sad” state now, which I am not a fan of. The only good thing I’ve found from this birth control is my periods are a lot shorter and lighter now. Other than that, nothing good to say. I do not recommend!!!!!"

For Birth Control "I have been on this pill for 16 days now. Despite the fact that I have only taken this pill 16 times, I have noticed drastic negative changes in myself. I can assure you that I am not exaggerating my experiences with this pill when I describe it, however, I wish that were the case... Physical changes I have experienced while taking Lutera: - Painful, nasty-looking acne on my face, back, and shoulders (I have NEVER had acne in my 19 years of life) - Weight gain in my abdominal area and shoulders (I have not weighed myself because I am terrified to do so, since it has been that drastic) - Constant hunger that is difficult for me to control - I have my period 2 weeks sooner than I should this month."

For Birth Control "I love this birth control. I was on Microgestin for almost a year, but I started to develop unpleasant symptoms around my time of the month, so I switched. When I get my period now, I bleed maybe 3 or 4 days and only experience some mild back pain. I rarely cramp or get bloated. After the first two days are over, it's almost as if I'm not even on my period. The acne I got from the other birth control has cleared up also. I've been blessed with light periods all my life, but this birth control seems to work very well with me."

For Birth Control "I used this birth control for about two years and began suffering from migraines after the first year. I got them every other day. They were so severe I had to go to the emergency room on multiple occasions. I saw my PCP, who took me off of it due to increased risk of stroke. I have now been off of it for 3 weeks and haven’t had one headache, and my clinical depression seems to be decreased. The only negative side effect of not being on Lutera anymore is an increased amount of acne, which is manageable. I wish I had known it was causing my headaches, and I would have gone off of it sooner. It also turns out my sister was on the same medication when she used to suffer from migraines while she was in middle/high school. If anyone is getting severe headaches and takes Lutera, I highly recommend talking to your doctor for different options. I will be getting Nexplanon soon."

For Birth Control "I have been on Lutera (generic for Aviane) for about a year now. Since my last birth control caused extreme moodiness and a decrease in sex drive, Lutera was a lot better with those side effects. My moods were a lot better, I was not depressed and angry all the time like the last birth control. My sex drive was 'ok', it wasn't completely decreased, but it could have been better considering I am 19. Lutera also caused an increased appetite and caused acne on my face when I never had gotten serious acne before. Overall, the birth control pill was ok, still in search of the right one for me."

For Birth Control "I've been using Lutera for about a month now, and I hate it! My acne is so bad on this brand. Although it does protect against pregnancy, which is good. I haven't gotten a period yet. Just a little bit of spotting. When I first started taking Lutera, I got real bad body aches... and I feel very moody... will be talking to my doctor about switching back to Aubra."

For Ovarian Cysts "I've been on many pills and have had bad experiences with all of them. Mood swings, depression, exhaustion, loss of sex drive, breakouts, etc. Lutera seems like one of the best of the worst, I guess. It made my boobs plumper, which rocks, but I've lost my sex drive pretty much entirely, so what is the point of that? I'm taking it to control ovarian cysts and endometriosis, but I'm going to stop, maybe try another, because I find that I get mad or resentful at my boyfriend when there's nothing out of the ordinary going on, and I don't really care if I see my friends or not. Stuff I used to feel passionate about is like... whatever. I miss me. At least Lutera didn't make me feel like offing myself like Ortho did, but it's still not great."

For Birth Control "I've been on Lutera for almost a year now. I've been having birth control issues for about 2 years - first being on Mirena and having terrible cystic acne and depression, and then my doc recommended Lutera to add some hormones back into my system to help the acne. This is low dosage and although I've seen my cystic acne go away (besides some coming at the time of the month), I still break out daily. I wanted to try it for longer than a few months, and I have to say out of the entire year, about 2 months of it I had decent skin. I break out on my face, back, and shoulders, and I haven't had this bad of acne since high school. After high school, I was on Ortho Tri-Cyclen and the NuvaRing. Both of those didn't make me break out at all. I'm 23, 145 lb."

For Birth Control "This was my first time on any birth control, and I did not have a good experience. This birth control made me nauseous, gave me headaches, caused me to gain weight, gave me horrible breakouts, and even made me sick. I took this for less than a week, I will never recommend this to somebody. I was put on this by my doctor, so I hadn't had a chance to look it up before I got on it. This is not a thing I will take again or give another chance. I suggest trying something different."
