For Birth Control "I had been on Lutera for a little less than 3 years. I never experienced drastic mood swings, weight gain, or acne. My periods were way lighter and less painful than before I started Lutera. Before birth control, I would throw up and be in uncontrollable pain for the first two days. Now I have mild cramps on day one and that's it. When I went to pick up my prescription last week, I was given Aviane instead of Lutera, and I am praying that nothing changes."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I've been taking Lutera for dilated veins in the uterus (PVC). I've been on it for about 3 months to ease cramps and decrease bleeding, but it hasn't really done either. During the first month of the pill, I bled daily, so I didn't necessarily have a period. I also gained about 5 pounds within 2 weeks, became extremely moody, and still had issues with cramps. Month 2, I still experienced a lot of spotting, but it would be suppressed for about a day or two, then continue for a week. I actually had a lighter period, and some of the cramping was eased, but the weight gain and moodiness came with depression, lack of energy, and made my skin break out (seeing I never really had acne issues). I'm almost done with my 3rd pack, and I plan to switch pills once I'm able to visit my doctor again."

For Birth Control "Overall, a good birth control to take. I have been using it for 3 months, and my period is lighter with no cramps. I don't get mood swings, just a little sensitive a day before my period. The first few weeks, I felt nauseous in the mornings and had headaches on and off, but then they went away. No weight gain so far, my boobs got a little bigger. A downside is I have been breaking out when usually I have no acne at all. So far, very reliable because I am not pregnant."

For Birth Control "I've been on Lutera for 7 years and never had issues with it. I had tried about three or so other pills prior (can't remember those names) and had issues with acne, weight, hormones, and so on in one form or another. Lutera was something I stumbled on for price purposes and ended up loving it. It helps maintain my weight and doesn't have any side effects, at least for me. Once I got married, I figured I'd try the depot shot... two injections, 15 pounds more, and a whole lot of hormones later, I've decided to go back to Lutera. A pill a day never bothered me anyway!"

For Birth Control "I've been taking Lutera for about 3-4 years now, and overall it is great. I originally started with Yaz, which gave me awful side effects such as acne, depression, and weight gain. Lutera is a very low dose and works well for me. I have experienced a few minor side effects such as stomach pain and decreased sex drive, but all in all, I like it and don't want to change to another pill."

For Birth Control "I have been on Lutera for about a month now. I like it. No weight gain, no severe acne, since I usually have a couple of pimples on my face, no changes. Loss of appetite. I, myself, am 5'1" and weigh about 145, no sudden weight gain. Although my breasts do get tender from time to time, being a 38DD it gets kind of annoying. Regardless, I recommend the pill."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I’ve been taking them for two months now. They’ve caused pretty bad acne, breast soreness, cramps, depression, and anxiety. I feel sad all the time and really unmotivated. I’m taking them to regulate my period, and it does the job. I know I’m supposed to wait 3 months to get used to them, but I don’t know if it’s worth it, honestly."

For Birth Control "I just started taking it. I am on the last row of my first pack. I have been having a huge amount of brown or red discharge/blood. I have had headaches, nausea, breast tenderness, back acne, everything. I think it's because I'm taking a lower dose of it like levonorgestrel 0.1 mg and ethinyl estradiol 0.02 mg, so next time at the doctor's, I will get a high dose."

For Birth Control "I've been taking birth control for about a year now, and my doctor just switched me to Lutera from Aviane. I've been on it for 2 months now, and though it's effective, I have to say it makes me a little nauseous at the start of a new pack, and I've gained like 10 lbs. Acne is a teeny bit worse, but I'm also using a new soap, so that may or may not be it. My breasts have gotten fuller, but when I PMS, they HURT. I guess these are normal for birth control in general, though."

For Birth Control "I've been taking Lutera for only a week now, but so far, so good. Honestly, after reading all the reviews and side effects all over the internet, I was pretty nervous. I think birth control will have different effects depending on the individual. All your doctor can do is try their best to prescribe the best birth control for you. I'm 21, never been on birth control pills before, and have one child. I've never had a problem with uncomfortable or heavy periods, but I am eager to see if this pill will make my periods last fewer days like most claim it does... too early to tell. I have had a little trouble with breaking out regularly since I was 15. Well, so far after one week on this pill, my face is completely clear! So happy."

For Birth Control "This pill was perfection the 1st year I was on it. Then, over the past few months, my PMDD got bad, I started breaking out, spotting between periods, migraines started kicking in, and crazy mood swings. Overall, nice pill that prevents pregnancy. The 1st year I was on this was great, with no side effects and a period that was light and lasted one day out of the month was awesome. I wish the bad side effects never started because I loved this pill."

For Polycystic Ovary Syndrome "I ordered this medication through an online birth control website, and the nurse practitioner recommended it because I'm over 35 and am at higher risk of blood clots due to my age and weight. I have PCOS and have had ovarian cysts in the past that required surgery, as well as benign endometrial hyperplasia that could turn cancerous if not kept to a minimum. I hated Lutera. I took it and it made me so irritable after only a few days. Plus, my face broke out in zits. I promptly stopped taking it and asked my doctor about a different medication."

For Birth Control "I've been taking Lutera for 4 days now, and so far the only potential side effect for me is increased acne. It's not super bad though, and I feel it'll probably clear up soon. Other than that, I feel great."

For Birth Control "I do not recommend. I've tried plenty of other pills in the past (Lessina, Norinyl, Syeda to name a few), and this is my least favorite. I stopped taking birth control for a couple of years but recently decided to get back on, so my doctor prescribed me Lutera. Within weeks, it made me more irritable/sensitive (I would cry for no reason), and my sex drive became nonexistent. I had instances where I would be interested in having sex but couldn't enjoy it due to painful cramps. I also felt extremely nauseous, had horrible indigestion, my acne came back, and felt bloated the entire time I was on this pill. And, I had breakthrough bleeding for 3 weeks straight. Thankful I was able to switch back to a generic of Yaz, it's quite an improvement."

For Birth Control "Worst birth control experience. This pill made me relapse in my depression and caused the most annoying mood swings. I have never had acne until I started this pill, and the painful acne was on my face, back, and shoulders. I am a fit girl, but have certainly lost muscle mass from this pill. I have been on Lutera for 2 months, and I will not be using it again :("

For Birth Control "I have been on Lutera for going on four months. It seems to be working well. I haven't had any weight gain or issues with mood swings. I have noticed a couple of things that I am thinking may be from this birth control, though. One is constipation, and the other is acne. I have never had an issue with acne, but since taking Lutera, I have had a breakout on my back."

For Birth Control "I have been on Lutera for a good 5 months, it was supposed to be good for my acne but has made my acne worse. It has caused me to become VERY irritated, but the reason I am switching is that it has caused heavy breakthrough bleeding, which is quite frustrating! I have been on 5 other birth control pills in the last 8 years and never experienced this before. Besides the breakthrough bleeding, it has made my actual period A LOT shorter, it only lasts about 1-3 days, but I get it about every 2 weeks instead of my usual 29-day cycle."

For Birth Control "After I took Lutera, within an hour I would feel a rush of fatigue and want to sleep. I would end up taking two, three-hour-long naps, which threw off my sleep cycle. My breasts hurt, and I was extremely aggressive during my month on this pill. Toward the end, I started spotting the 4th day of the third week, and I am on the 3rd day of my period week, and so far I have been spotting for 7 days. My acne got worse when this was supposed to help. I did not experience bleeding at first. Wouldn't recommend this pill. I am switching to Yaz."

For Birth Control "I took these pills for 8 months, and once I stopped taking them, acne suddenly became my biggest problem. Half a year later, I was diagnosed with PCOS, and my doctor told me that I had to take birth control pills again! It is really tricky that a med used for curing an illness seemed the one that also led me to this illness (my period was very regular in the past ten years before I took these pills). I switched to other brands anyway."

For Birth Control "My acne was terrible, weight gain of 10-15 lb (the other 10 lb I’ll take the blame for), and I had really bad cramping. Overall, a neutral experience and common side effects, especially considering this was my first bc pill. I took this for about two years and no baby!"

For Birth Control "This is the first birth control pill I ever took. I was on it for 3 years, and overall it was a very good experience. It helped clear up my acne, although during stressful times, I still would get some small breakouts. My periods were much lighter, I didn't gain any weight. In fact, I lost 20 lb, which was nice. I never got pregnant. My only complaint is that it did kill my sex drive, which was annoying. I'm about to start Trinessa to see if this remedies the problem, but if Trinessa ends up being problematic, I will definitely switch back to Lutera."

For Birth Control "I wanted to love this birth control, but I just couldn’t. This birth control made me feel so sick. It gave me the worst acne everywhere, and I noticed a lot of hair loss while on this pill. I was hungry all the time, and if I didn’t eat right away, I would get so nauseous and feel weak. I also got random spurts of dizzy spells throughout the day, along with a lot of fatigue and a lack of good mood and interest to do anything. I know this birth control works well for others, but after 4 months on it, I had to stop it."

For Birth Control "I started taking Lutera because when I was on my period, I had horrible cramps, nausea, and my skin went pale. Lutera took all that away, and it was the best. I had a regular period and no pain at all. But it made my face break out like never before, I have never had acne, just a pimple on my period. Now my face is red on my cheeks, and I look like I have some kind of disease because it also gave me scars and some ugly spots."

For Birth Control "I was on this pill for only a week, and I broke out like crazy. Needless to say, my face looks like a pizza. My school provided me with it, so I went back to the clinic after I started getting horrifying rashes along my cheek and chin. They assured me it wasn't the birth control but put me on antibiotics and asked me to stay on the pill and come back for a follow-up. I went back, and it was worse. I didn't just have the rashes anymore but also bad acne. The doctor told me she'd never seen such a bad reaction from Lutera, but all I've read is bad reviews about how it makes you break out. The only beneficial things about it are you can't get pregnant and your boobs do start to grow. I will not wait out to see if it gets worse before it gets better."

For Birth Control "DO NOT TAKE THIS PILL. I'm only on my second month, and I absolutely HATE how my skin looks. I would never wish this upon my worst enemy. Seriously, it's awful. I was prescribed this pill originally to get rid of the acne around my jawline, but it got so much worse. I'm breaking out all over my chin in deep, painful, cystic acne. Toss it in the trash where it belongs and save your skin, do not take this."
