"I started taking it due to heavy periods and horrible cramps. I’ve been currently taking it for 3 months. The only side effect I’ve gotten is bad nausea, on the plus side, my periods are now regular and I get no cramps at all."

"This is my first time being on birth control, and I've started my second pack a few days ago. So far, I have no large complaints. My weight has stayed the same or maybe lost a pound or two. I do feel more stressed, have tender breasts, and less energy, but nothing too extreme. No spotting, but a regular period. I did start my period 2 days earlier than I was to reach the white pills. Will keep posted if anything changes."

"Switched ob/gyns this past fall, and she recommended Lessina since I’m now over 40 and didn’t need as many hormones (in the Dr’s opinion). I’ve always had an effective skin care regimen, so I was totally freaked out when I developed ridiculous acne within 1-2 months of switching. I’ve also gained at least 10 or more pounds since I began the pill. I also read how some users felt sadness/depression, and I’m wondering if a few blue episodes I’ve had may have been brought on by the pill. Hmm. On the upside, I did notice the increase in sex drive, and the periods seemed to be short and smooth (no PMS, no cramps). Finally, called the doc last week to complain, so I’ve swallowed my last one. Really wish I’d had the sense to Google this pill sooner. Never again. I’ll be researching my new script too as soon as I get it. I’ve been off and on the pill since my teens and never once had this many textbook side effects. Geez."

"My ob-gyn switched me to this from Sronyx, due to horrible mood swings, constant headaches, and 10-day-long periods. I like this pill, but I don't, and I gave it more than 3 months. I have been having some breakthrough bleeding any week on the active pills that lasts 1-2 days. I have had terrible stomach aches and food repulsions. With these symptoms being bothersome, I might have to switch again. I need a different pill that's not so harsh on my stomach. I do like that it shortened my periods, aside from the breakthrough bleeding, and there is no weight gain."

"I’ve been on this pill for about a year. When I first started, I had irregular spotting for about a month, and then my period began to come regularly. After about 4 months, my mood swings have been on 100. During that time of the month, I do get cystic acne in the chin area. On the bright side, I am not pregnant, which is a plus! One downside is that the pharmacy I use was out of stock for a couple of days, which could have gotten me pregnant, but I’m glad I was able to hold out until I have taken the pill for a week straight."

"I've been taking Lessina for about 4 months now. I used to take Seasonique, for whatever reason, they prescribed me awful birth control instead. I'm so moody and literally hate the world and myself. I cry all the time, honestly, I have the worst mood swings I've ever experienced. I stay so depressed that all I do is want to lay in bed and cry or sleep. I've gained 20 lbs from this and got some acne. I constantly have the worst crushing migraines I've ever had in my life. Just all around the worst experience. It works for preventing pregnancy, but it's not worth the emotional state it leaves you in."

"Entire month of bleeding. I started this straight after I had my implant removed, and I get that my body is supposed to be adjusting from the differences, but I’m pretty sure I’m not supposed to be nonstop bleeding for the entire time. I have acne on my chest and back now, getting zits more frequently. I’ve cried almost every single day, and I’ve been drier than the Sahara Desert. This is absolute garbage, and my partner and I are not impressed. I’m so confused by what I’m supposed to expect from my body at this point that I’m going off birth control for a month to get it back to normal."

"I started this birth control pill after removing the Mirena. I was given this pill as the generic to what my ob/gyn prescribed. I wish I would've left it at the pharmacy! This is the WORST PILL EVER!!!!! Let's start with mood swings, weight gain, tender breasts, depression, decreased sex drive, and edema. I would NEVER recommend. I discontinued after being on the pill for 1.5 months. I actually stopped taking birth control pills altogether to allow my body a chance to get back to normal. This by far was the WORST experience with birth control."

"This is my fourth month on this medication and my 7th period. I was originally asking about birth control methods that would keep me from having my period every month and was told by my doctor that I could continue onto a second pack, skipping the week of fake pills, and that should prevent my period. After that didn't work the first time, I decided to just take it normally, but that's when my period started happening every other week. I have been abnormally emotional, but until I read the other reviews on this site, I never thought to blame this medication. I'm normally a very subdued person who deals with my problems internally. These last few months, I've been incredibly emotional and sensitive, crying a lot. I have had some extra acne too."

"The first week, I took BC at 8 am and would feel so nauseous afterward that I had to fall back asleep or I would vomit (I only threw up once because I was unable to get back to sleep after taking it). It made me a little nauseous all day, every day I was taking it. When I started the second week in the pill pack, I suddenly got blurry vision, severe headaches, and dizziness on top of the increased nausea, which lasted all day. I decided to stop taking it after that. From what I experienced, the only good effect it had was that it lessened my acne. I wouldn't ever go back on it, though. I was debilitated for an entire day due to overwhelming side effects. All I could do was lay on my floor or bed and try to sleep."

"I was on Lutera, which was amazing. No nausea, light periods, fewer breakouts, then Vienva, which was okay, then Lessina. Lessina started okay, then I started spotting between periods, having longer, heavier periods, nausea my first day back on the hormone pill, and back pain. I tried to tough it out for a few months, but couldn't stand the side effects anymore and asked my OB if I could switch back to Lutera. This pill was not for me, but everyone is different. Not the worst, but definitely not great for me personally. I didn't get pregnant though, which is a plus."

"I've been taking Lessina for 3 months now. I really like the pill, only a few complaints such as breakouts here and there, migraines off and on, and a very lengthy period. Before taking Lessina, my cycle would last roughly 5 days, now it lasts about 2 weeks, which is really the only reason I'm looking to change to another pill. On a positive note, no menstrual cramps at all, which is amazing."

"AWFUL. I forgot my regular birth control (Aubra) while on vacation, so the pharmacist at the place I was vacationing at gave me these. They were fine for the week I was there, but now I am spotting BAD every day. Some days I’ll wake up and there’ll be blood in my underwear, or sometimes an hour before I’m scheduled to take my pill, I’ll start bleeding. I have not had a period in four years (I had Nexplanon inserted 3 years, then I got on Aubra and skipped placebos). Now since taking this, it’s like every day I am bleeding randomly AND suddenly have acne + cystic acne! I kept taking it (2 months) to see if any of my symptoms would stop, but they are actually getting WORSE. Stopping this awful, awful birth control immediately and throwing away the last month of it."

"Great birth control, been using for 4 months now. Only thing is I have bad acne literally everywhere, on my shoulders, back, face, and butt. I’ve never had this happen before, it’s like tiny cysts that I’m unable to pop. It’s been terrible. Besides that, it’s great. Even helped me with my appetite to gain weight."

"I've been taking this birth control for almost a year. When I first started on it, I would have random bleeding that seemed to last three weeks. When my bleeding finally regulated, I started feeling super bloated, so much so that I took a pregnancy test and guess what? It turns out I'm pregnant. Not far along enough to cause bloating, but I know I didn't miss a pill. Surprise!"

"I was recently switched to Lessina due to my other brand giving me constant anxiety and sadness. The first week of taking Lessina, I felt so great and hopeful that it wouldn’t bring the side effects that I read about in the reviews. Once the second week came along, it was rock bottom. I took one pack in total because I was trying to give it a chance, but I had to go back to my doctor to get it changed. It was the worst panic attacks and depression I have ever felt, even comparing my last birth control to it. I would cry so much that I would have to throw up, I couldn’t breathe or control my panic attacks at all. I’m giving it 3 stars because it actually helped clear up my skin, and I didn’t gain weight like many have said, so that was a positive. I highly do NOT recommend this birth control if you have any bad history of mood swings with other birth controls."

"This was my first birth control I've ever had. My skin was clear, but once I started taking this, I had the worst acne. I was bloated, went from a size 3 to 7 within a week. I was nauseous, my breasts were tender and swollen. My appetite increased. The only good thing about it was it increased my sex drive. I switched to Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo, and I actually liked it, but the only thing is it decreased my sex drive. Now I'm on Aubra since Planned Parenthood doesn't have it anymore, so far, no side effects."

"Wow. I started on the third day of my period, which was a Sunday as directed. It’s two weeks later and I’m still on my period (day 17). I have migraines 3-5 times a month usually, but have had them every other day with this. I stopped taking the pill about a week after I started and then had a migraine that lasted four days, even with using my prescription migraine pills. I had a large blood clot as well. I went back to the doctor, and they suggested I try to ride it out. Nope. On day 15, my period, which had been light, came back full force and was heavier than it’s ever been. I’m waiting for my body to clear the hormones out, but it’s been just awful. If you have migraines, think twice before taking Lessina."

"I have taken Lessina for about 2 weeks, and my experience has been okay. The only issue is that I have been nauseous, and that's been happening ever since I started taking Lessina. Overall, it's a good product."

"After about 3 months on Lessina, I experienced abnormal bleeding. My cycle lasted for over 2 weeks, it was extremely heavy and unbearable. I ended up going to the doctor on day 14, and they prescribed Provera to stop the bleeding. It took 4 days on Provera to slow it down. Also, I had severe nausea in the beginning."

"The pharmacy gave me this pill as a substitute for my normal one. I've been on it for 3 months, and I've had horrible back pain during my period, crazy anxiety constantly, mood swings, bloating, and hair thinning. I would not recommend this birth control. I'm so glad to be back on my normal one this month."

"I’ve been on Lessina for a little over 6 months now. I used to be on Alysena maybe 2 years ago, and it was probably the WORST experience of my life, it ruined my mental and physical health so much that I was scared to get back on birth control. I told my current doctor about my concerns, and he recommended Lessina because it has a lower dose of hormones compared to other pills, and it is also a commonly used pill among women in Canada. I was EXTREMELY nervous, but I decided to take the jump, and honestly, I’m so glad I did. I’ve had absolutely no side effects at all! Everyone’s body is different, and you may have to wait to see how your body reacts to certain perceptions, but it is 100% worth trying different things to see what suits you! Luckily, I gave Lessina a chance, and I’m so happy with the outcome."

"First off, a note that not all medicines work the same for everyone! I started taking Lessina roughly a year and a half ago. I used to have debilitating pain during my periods, where I literally could not get off the floor due to being so nauseous, lightheaded, and in pain. I also had really bad mental/emotional premenstrual symptoms that I didn't even notice I had until I started taking the pill. I started the pill the day my period was supposed to start, but it didn't, so I didn't get it for a couple of weeks, and then I bled for two weeks long. I also struggled a tad bit emotionally adjusting as the hormones gave me bad mood swings. Although after the first month or two everything started regulating out, and since it's been amazing (for me)! I can actually go places when I have my period, and I no longer get severely depressed the week leading up to my period. I do have times of increased mood swings, though, especially if I miss my pill and have to take it either with or closer to my next pill."

"Was on this birth control for four months. I am a pretty optimistic, look-on-the-bright-side, happy girl, but this stuff completely changed that. I became very moody, very gray. Very depressed for no reason. It worked, but the side effects were not worth it. It made my head feel very cloudy and made me feel like I was stuck in my head. I ran out of my fourth month and didn’t have a chance to go get a refill right away, which turned into a huge blessing. My head started to become clear, and I began to feel like myself again. Needless to say, I will be looking for a new bc."

"On my third month of Lessina. Hasn’t cleared up my acne yet like I hoped, but so far this is a good birth control. I had spotting the first month, and now my period is super light, almost nonexistent, which is a plus. Duration went from 5 days when I wasn’t on any birth control to now maybe 3 days. Hoping in the next coming months my acne starts to clear, but I definitely recommend this birth control."
