"I really like this birth control. I was originally on a different brand of the pill, and it made me bloated and I always felt sluggish. I switched to the NuvaRing, which was not ideal for intercourse, so back to my OB I went. I love Lessina: no weight gain, no bloating, and minimal cramping during my period. I did have the side effect of acne, but I changed my face wash and it cleared right up. I also swear it increases your sex drive, but it could just be me."

"I was on a birth control that I really liked, with no side effects, and my pharmacist switched me to this brand, saying it was generic. However, I have had headaches, awful headaches since starting this birth control. I’m always bloated, and my anxiety is through the roof!"

"Loved it at first, but now I'm totally over it. The first few days, I got headaches that went away quickly and didn't bother me much. The first week, I was nauseous, that went away and was bearable. The first month went by smoothly. The second month was absolutely bad. Non-stop bleeding. It's not a heavy flow, just light spotting, but three weeks of light spotting is horrible! I've been PMS'ing for three freaking weeks! Fighting with my boyfriend, paranoid anxiety, acne all over my body, AND A HORRIBLE VAGINAL ODOR, it's not going away and makes my boyfriend not want to have sex. So what's the point of birth control if we're not even having sex?! Right now, I haven't bled in three days, which is a miracle, but the smell still lingers and I'm showering three times a day. My doctor keeps telling me to wait three to four months for my body to adjust, but the stench is unbearable and I'm probably going to switch brands."

"I was only on this pill for two weeks and immediately discontinued use due to massive weight gain (10 lbs to be exact), mild nausea daily that was similar to morning sickness, that lasted all day, headaches all day, every day, and the kicker, immense chest pain. My friend passed away from a PE directly related to this pill last month (per the coroner). She was 32. Do not take this."

"I had a very bad experience from this birth control. I had no issues at first, however, after a month of taking it, I developed intense nausea. I started dry heaving every morning and completely lost my appetite and was unable to eat for about a week. I went to the doctor, and they recommended I stop taking this pill. After a few days of stopping the pill, I felt so much better and was able to start eating again. On top of the nausea, this pill also made me very anxious and irritable. I normally don’t have anxiety. I come to find out all of this was because of this pill. I’m starting to feel like my regular self again after stopping this pill. I do not recommend this to anyone."

"My first month on Lessina, I had pretty consistent migraines, which I didn’t have before. After getting over that adjustment hurdle, it’s been great. I used to have really bad joint pain before and after my periods, but after starting Lessina, it’s been super mild, if not non-existent. It has also helped balance my mood. I used to have pretty bad mood swings, which have also subsided over the last few months. When I first started, I read the reviews, which freaked me out a little bit, but remember everyone is different! I have loved my time being on Lessina, and I wish you the best of luck finding something that works!"

"Do not take this pill! Since I took this pill, I've been experiencing terrible anxiety and bipolar. It is horrible. I never experienced such a condition, but now I keep thinking about negative thoughts and crying for no reason. And it's been less than 2 weeks! It's insane. And since the 10th day, I got a yeast infection, and now I got a urinary infection and spotting. Honestly, I don't understand why this medicine is still allowed. It's literally so awful for me."

"I was put on Lessina 3 months ago for heavy menstrual bleeding and large clots. The first pack, I did okay with a little spotting and a period that was heavy but less clots. The second month was horrible as far as spotting and the period goes. I spotted (basically a period worth) for the week leading up to my actual period. Then the period was excessively heavy. Now on the third month, I am done with it all. I'm through my first week of active pills and am 'spotting' as heavy as my first day of a period. Heavy enough to wear pads. This is ridiculous, and I would NOT recommend this medication to anyone. I've previously been on Lo Loestrin and plan to go back to that one."

"Took this Lessina birth control pill for about 4-5 days and couldn’t stand the abdominal pain I was getting from it, so I stopped. It was so bad I thought it was my appendix. I got acne, and I’ve never had a problem with that, worst cramps ever, abdominal and bowel issues. Going to the doctor in about a week to try something else out."

"I haven't taken any other birth control pills prior to Lessina, but while on it, my extremely heavy, 6-day-long period has subdued to a light, non-painful, 2/3-day period, which to me in itself is amazing. I've been on Lessina for about 7 months, and the only side effects I can notice are that my breasts are always sensitive and about 5-10 pound weight gain. No moody-ness or random crying. I've always had headaches, so I don't think I could tie that in with the BC pills."

"This was the first pill I was put on after getting off the shot. It helped regulate my periods. It's also helped a lot with acne, gave me lighter periods and little to no cramps at all. I ended up switching off for one month and regret it. I love this birth control. I had issues with horrible cramps that were making me throw up, and now those cramps have gone down to an uncomfortable feeling and nothing too painful at all."

"Whatever you do, do not take this. It caused me to bleed excessively during my cycle. I used to take Ortho Tri-Cyclen. My gynecologist wanted to try me on another birth control when I turned 39 years old. I tried Lessina for 2 months, and I will never try it again. I lost so much blood, and I became dizzy. I went to the hospital after I passed out from taking it. I will no longer take it."

"I was on Lessina for about 6 or 7 months. At first, I was pretty content with this birth control. I have tried other brands, but most had no effect on the heaviness of my period, which is why I was taking the pill to begin with. One of the definite pros of this pill is that I had absolutely no acne at all. I’m 18 years old, and before starting on this pill, I had some acne, I rarely got acne while on this pill. If you are taking it for acne-related reasons, then I would suggest this pill. The downside is that it caused me to gain about 12 pounds within around 7 months. It may not seem like that much, but it really adds up for a teenager. My mood swings weren’t easy either, everything would set me off, and I was constantly angry. I’m switching to Junel birth control now. Given the reviews from it, I am somewhat nervous. Overall, this birth control mostly helped with my period, making it shorter but still pretty heavy."

"I give it an 8 because I loved this pill for 8 years. Just recently, I started having problems with it. Now my sex drive decreased, chronic sinus infections... which I now link to this pill because over the last 7 months, I have tried others and my sinuses have been great... now back on Lessina and yet another sinus infection and clogged-up nasal passages, rash on chest, and bad melasma now. I think my body has changed over the years and it doesn't tolerate this one anymore. I did love it for years, though."

"So I started this B.C. about a month ago. Before that, I was on Ortho Tri-Cyclen for almost 3 years. Then, all of a sudden, I'm switched to this. Anyways, I just got my period a day later than I was supposed to. (On the Ortho, my cycles are every 28 days on the dot!) I'm concerned because I only bled for one day and haven't bled anymore after that for 3 days. So, not sure if it's switching birth control pills or if it's implantation bleeding. Good luck, ladies!"

"It's my 3rd week on Lessina, switching from Junel Fe (which has a different progestin). I had never had serious problems with anxiety until I started these pills. I started having severe migraines like never before, as well as tiredness, leg cramps, and outbursts of anger. I tried it out and now know these aren't for me. I don't feel normal, so I will be finding another form of contraception. Worst birth control I've had thus far."

"First time on BC and got prescribed this, the first couple of weeks were fine. I was advised to skip the white pills since I had planned a vacation. I spotted for a week straight, then started bleeding. It's been 2 weeks now, 3 weeks total, and I am still dealing with it. I have no other issues other than the longest period I have ever had and on-and-off cramps. Waiting to see if this changes in the third month or if I may need to switch or maybe stay off BC altogether."

"I took this pill for two weeks. On the 14th day, I was ready to seriously harm myself. I had a complete emotional breakdown. I went to the ER and was prescribed anxiety pills and told to immediately discontinue this pill. I saw the reviews and got worried, but I have never had a problem with any other pill. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PILL TO ANYONE!!! IT SHOULDN'T BE AN OPTION FOR ANYONE OTHER THAN THOSE ALREADY TAKING IT!"

"I was on Lutera, which was great for me, then Vienva, which was okay, then now Lessina. I've been way more anxious, and I've been having outbursts, not to mention breakthrough bleeding. I'm usually pretty regular, but not with this birth control. Overall, it prevents pregnancy, but my libido has dipped, and I sometimes experience nausea as well. This birth control might work for others, but it does not work for me."

"Initially wanted to go back on the pill because I experience pretty severe PMS symptoms within the 10 days or so leading up to my period that really prevent me from my normal, everyday functions due to a hormonal imbalance. Tried to stick it out for a little over 2 weeks but then couldn’t take it anymore. Was constantly tired, depressed, and anxious within the first few days. Experienced severe mood swings at the start of week 2, crying for no reason and then suddenly would get angry and snap. Had insane acne and cravings from the start that I couldn’t resist, leading to a solid 10 lb weight gain and painful blemishes, which only made the depression worse. Felt so self-conscious and didn’t have the motivation to work out, which is something I love to do daily, during the entirety of my experience. Needless to say, probably some of the worst weeks I’ve experienced in a while. Started to return back to normal within a few days of stopping."

"I was advised to take this because it is the least hormonal birth control that works. I was horribly emotional with all the prior birth control pills, this one had no bad side effects, and periods were much lighter. Of course, I did gain the normal 5-10 lbs. (But that's always the case with birth control pills since they make your body think that you're pregnant). I truly believe that the bad reviews are people that had chronic issues with emotions or sinuses, etc., and just kind of placed blame or really made themselves believe that symptoms got worse when taking a new medication. I stopped taking it in February as my spouse and I are wanting a child. It is now nearing November (9 months) and I have not had a single spot or period since I stopped taking birth control."

"I started Lessina almost 4 months ago. I have not had a period since. I am not complaining, but I am having a hard time losing weight, retaining water, etc. My head is always hurting and extremely exhausted. I'm worried about the no period. Going to call my doctor Monday to talk with them again, as I don't know anyone else who has had periods completely stop. The only other method of birth control I know that has done that to me is the Depo, but been over a year off of that. I went on another pill, Sprintec, prior to this one but just wanted something that wouldn't make me constantly want to eat. On Sprintec, I had a 2-day period, if that. In my opinion, I feel my body needs to have a period to lose weight."

"I’ve been on Lessina for quite some time now. I’m currently 18. I work out about 3 days a week and have regular eating habits, etc. From my experience so far, Lessina has been effective for birth control purposes (hopefully). However, I’ve noticed that over the course of taking the pills, I’ve had frequent headaches, bloating, increased sex drive, and I haven’t seen anyone else with this problem. Oh, and my hair is thinning out too. Of course, I can’t be 100% it’s because of Lessina, but since I’ve started taking it, my hair has thinned very much to the point where I have to color in spots with makeup and whatnot. Other than that, my eating habits are completely normal, my period is regular, and I don’t have a significant change in emotional behavior like many others. Good luck."

"I started taking it due to heavy periods and horrible cramps. I’ve been currently taking it for 3 months. The only side effect I’ve gotten is bad nausea, on the plus side, my periods are now regular and I get no cramps at all."

"Before taking Lessina birth control, I had really irregular periods. Not having my period for a couple of months, super heavy periods, and the worst cramps. Before taking Lessina, my period used to be 7-8 days. Now I bleed almost on time for 4-6 days, my periods are lighter after the second day, cramps aren't as awful. Although, my period still hasn't lined up with the 28 days. It's more of 30-45 days for me. It's better than missing it months at a time. One thing I'd complain about is I recently stopped taking my birth control (trying to get Nexplanon) and BOY OOOH BOOOY these mood swings. I'm catching myself being so miserable. It's been almost two weeks since I've stopped taking it. Not sure how badly it'll affect me and my periods. Wishing everyone luck."
