"I’ve taken Lessina for 1 month. My mood/outlook on life changed after 1 week. I feel awful emotionally. It’s so hard to get out of bed in the morning. It’s like my life went from color to black and white. The only change in life is this pill. I do NOT recommend it!"

"I’ve only been taking Lessina for a week, and it has genuinely been the worst week of my life. It took me until today to realize it was my birth control. I’ve had anxiety/depression for as long as I can remember, but the suicidal thoughts I’ve had this week have been nothing like I have ever experienced. I’ve cried constantly and randomly for no reason. My poor boyfriend has tried to help. I threw up last night, haven’t been eating, I’m nauseous all the time. I will not be ingesting this pill a single day more. I genuinely almost checked myself into a mental institution, and I fully believe it has to do with this pill."

"At first (first month) taking this pill, it was not amazing. I had terrible mood swings and would have stress breaks in the classrooms of my school, then got kicked out. I’ve gained about 10 pounds on this pill, but it has gone to my hips and butt, so I’m loving it. In the first month getting wet was difficult, but I’m on my third month and it’s back to normal. Overall, even though the first two months on this birth control were an emotional roller coaster, I would recommend taking it. Remember, birth controls react differently to everyone’s body. Also, it is very effective in protecting you from pregnancy."

"My doctor had originally put me on Aviane, but Walgreens gave me the generic brand, which was something else. They then stopped giving me that and switched me to Lessina, which I was taking for about a year. It was working great. I had no bad side effects. It wasn’t affecting my mental health. I’m actually trying to switch back to this now. Since I finished all of my refills, I went to a different doctor to get the same prescription. But they gave me Vienva. I’ve been taking it for two months now, and it’s made me really sad and unmotivated."

"I thought there’s something wrong with me, but after I’ve read those comments on here about Lessina, it’s horrible. It’s my second week of taking these pills, and it gives me a migraine, nausea, lower abdomen pain, UTI, and acne!!"

"I absolutely recommend this birth control. We all must remember we are all individuals, and it's not going to have the same effects on every one of us! So to start off, this pill has definitely balanced my hormones. I am usually a very anxious and depressed person, and ever since I started this birth control, I feel so much better, much calmer. I have more energy, and if anything, lost weight due to the side effect that it's had on decreasing my appetite. I also noticed it hasn't affected my sex drive! I love this pill! It's very effective, and I recommend it!"

"It was the best birth control pill! I took it for almost 2 years and only stopped when I left for college, but I had absolutely zero negative symptoms, and it did not affect my health (mental, emotional, or physical) at all! It regulated my period, and most importantly, no babies! I would 100% take it again, just remember it is different for everyone."

"Literally the worst birth control ever. I was on Orsythia, and my pharmacy said this was the 'generic' version. My period was always regular, and my period came two weeks earlier this month. It also makes me break out and gained about five pounds. I have become very emotional and depressed, I was never like that. Now, I cry for everything. Do not recommend."

"Wish I could rate a zero. I used to be on Aviane and loved it. But my pharmacy randomly gave me Lessina and told me it would be the same, it’s just the generic brand. I totally thought that made sense, so I did not think anything about the change. I’ve been on this dosage for 4 years and never had issues. On the Lessina brand, I gained about 15 pounds and I spot for a month about every 4 months. Not worth it. I'll be taking my 3rd trip to the gyno this Friday for spotting and will be getting off of Lessina."

"I have been on Lessina for about 3 months now. Before this, I was on Depo. This far, I have had a few side effects such as gaining weight, mood swings, and my first month I had the heaviest period I have ever experienced, which lasted almost 10 days. On a positive note, my acne has cleared a lot. And I have been able to successfully skip my periods like I’ve wanted, as well as having no babies! Everyone’s body is different."

"I've been on Lessina birth control pill for a year. The first couple of months I was spotting a lot, but then I started to have a normal period. I don't have any bad side effects. I've always had anxiety, but it's just the same as before, so it's not the pills that are giving me anxiety. Everything else is fine, and now my periods are lighter and shorter. Just remember to take them on time every day for this to work well for you."

"I would not recommend this pill to anyone who has prior anxiety issues. Typically, I am able to keep my anxiety under control with exercise and diet, however, on this pill, it has been off the charts. Every day, I go from being okay to running scenarios in my head that are outrageous, to feelings of impending doom, to being okay again. My chest constantly feels tight, and my breath is short. At first, I wasn't sure if all this was the pill or the changes I have going on in my life (new job, going on a trip without my kids, husband transitioning jobs), however, while I was on my period, the issues were manageable, and I didn't feel like a complete nutbag all the time. Along with the above, the hormonal acne I currently have is getting worse, and I am retaining a ton of water. I am sure this pill works great for some women, but it is absolutely wrecking my system, and I am in the process of trying to get off it now."

"I’ve been on this birth control for about 4 months now. It started okay with almost no side effects, however, since the second month, my anxiety and obsessive thoughts have gotten really bad. I could be considered a very happy person, I’ve never had anxiety or these kinds of thoughts before, and now I’m just an emotional mess that I cannot recognize. I tried working out, eating better, and just putting my things in order to see if maybe that was causing it, but after looking and looking for other reasons to justify my mood, irritability, and anxiety, I came to this pill as my last conclusion. I did not have other side effects, very sore boobs if anything. I didn’t get pregnant, which is positive (?), didn’t get nausea, and had headaches only for a couple of weeks when starting. Don’t get scared if you want or need to try it though, it is birth control, and it works differently for everybody. It might work for you. Good luck out there, ladies!!"

"I've had problems with birth control since I have started taking them. I was started on Ortho Tri-Cyclen and was extremely moody and had issues with tearing of the vaginal walls during intercourse, so I was switched to Ortho-Cyclen, and the problem persisted. Finally, I was switched to Sronyx, which solved the problem and the moodiness. I was on it for three years until I was switched to Lessina because my pharmacy didn't carry it. Within the two and a half months I've been on it, I have gained about 5 pounds, have the worst acne I've ever experienced, and cry over nothing. Desperately trying to find a pharmacy that carries Sronyx."

"My pharmacy switched me to Lessina from Aviane, saying that it was just a generic brand and basically the same thing, so I took it for 4 months. In the first month, I noticed my anxiety started to flare up out of control, and I would get very bad migraines. Then it got worse, I was short of breath from doing simple tasks or even nothing at all. Then came numb arms and chest pains, and the doctor telling me I have extremely high blood pressure (I've always had great blood pressure). Then I started experiencing excruciating pain from the base of my spine all the way up into my skull and my jaw, I could hardly sleep. I drove myself crazy trying to figure out what was causing it, then I read the side effects of this birth control and realized I had over half of the severe ones. I stopped taking it, and all those horrible symptoms stopped. I was so relieved. I know everyone is affected differently, so just keep an eye out for the extreme symptoms so that you can get help if you react adversely."

"I was prescribed Lessina postpartum, and it has been great! Helped regulate my postpartum depression and anxiety. I, however, have an increase in appetite and experienced mild headaches and nausea for the first couple of weeks. I love the fact that it regulates my period, I always know when I'll have it and am prepared! I definitely will continue to take it and love it."

"If you are reading this, this is your sign to NOT TAKE THIS!!!!! I started it for the first time this month. My acne is awful. My skin was so clear before and now it’s covered in pimples. My appetite increased so much. I was literally eating everything in my fridge. I'm so bloated all the time. Not to mention my depression was so bad the last week. I literally wanted to die. Please stay away from this !!!"

"I began taking Lessina last month, and I do not recommend! The first few weeks, I had a consistent headache. Secondly, my appetite largely increased. Then, I was very, very emotional! I am having breakdowns over everything that happened. My anxiety has been way worse, and so have my intrusive thoughts. I thought for sure I at least wouldn't have a bad period. Wrong! This has been the worst period I've had in years! Such heavy bleeding, nausea, which caused me to have a panic attack, chills, headaches, the whole nine yards. Please do not take this medicine."

"Wow, I was shocked to come on here and find so many women experiencing the same things taking this Lessina medication. I thought it was just me. I, as well, since taking this birth control for three months, have also experienced crying spells and emotional PMS symptoms to the max while taking this medication. Now that I know it’s not just me, I’m done."

"Lessina is making me as manic as I was when I was off my bipolar medicine. I'm having extreme anxiety attacks that wake me up at 3 a.m. every night now. I'm very nauseous and wake up at any time from 3 a.m. to 8 a.m. and throw up, this is the first day that I haven't thrown up. I cried and had a manic breakdown over water yesterday. I know it's from this birth control because I was doing a lot better a week ago. I started taking Lessina on Sunday. Now I experience migraines as well as moodiness, really hoping this goes away, but if it doesn't, I'm going to switch. The only pros of this medicine are you get nauseous and can't eat, so your stomach looks flatter. I haven't seen any difference in my boobs, but they're sore as anything. I don't recommend this at all."

"When I first started this pill in the first month, after a few weeks I broke out like crazy. I am on the second month now and it has gotten a lot better. I haven't broken out yet this month, but I just have some leftover scarring. I haven't had any weight gain and have no effects on mood, but I do have breast tenderness. I had an increase in sex drive my first month, but now it seems to have balanced out. The only thing is if I accidentally miss a day and double up the dose the next day, I will feel extremely nauseous. I was previously on Trinessa Lo and I prefer Lessina over Trinessa."

"Before taking Lessina birth control, I had really irregular periods. Not having my period for a couple of months, super heavy periods, and the worst cramps. Before taking Lessina, my period used to be 7-8 days. Now I bleed almost on time for 4-6 days, my periods are lighter after the second day, cramps aren't as awful. Although, my period still hasn't lined up with the 28 days. It's more of 30-45 days for me. It's better than missing it months at a time. One thing I'd complain about is I recently stopped taking my birth control (trying to get Nexplanon) and BOY OOOH BOOOY these mood swings. I'm catching myself being so miserable. It's been almost two weeks since I've stopped taking it. Not sure how badly it'll affect me and my periods. Wishing everyone luck."

"It is very good, no side effects. I've been on Depo and Mirena, both of which I do not recommend, but Lessina, no acne, nothing. You might get moody, and as long as you work out, you won't gain or take the pills early mornings."

"I had to switch to a new contraceptive after being on Depo for 5 years. Since I was used to having no periods on the Depo, my doctor okayed me to take only active pills and never take the placebos. After 4 months, I started getting breakthrough bleeding on and off for the next 6 weeks. It did its job since I am baby-free, but I couldn't keep taking it from all the random bleeding for almost 6 weeks. While on it, I had headaches for the first few weeks, but they subsided. I was definitely more emotional while on it the first couple of months, but that leveled out mostly. I still would cry easier, though. The good thing is that I did seem to have a little bit higher sex drive."

"I have been on Lessina for about 5 months now, and I have definitely noticed a difference. My periods are shorter and lighter (a huge reason why I went on birth control in the first place is because I'm anemic, and my periods were horrible). As many others have said, the migraines do happen often, but all my life, I have been getting headaches regularly, so it's nothing different. My skin has cleared up, and I only have minor breakouts due to wearing a mask (for COVID) and not the birth control. I experienced slight weight gain, and my boobs grew, which I was kinda happy about, lol. Recently, I missed a pill and spotted until my period started, but it wasn't too bad. I definitely experience moody episodes before my period, which I never experienced before, but I will not be switching brands anytime soon because I'm happy with how it has been treating my periods."
