For Birth Control "Although I have to give Chateal credit for doing its job by stopping an unwanted pregnancy, I put on 25 pounds in 4 months. I'd like to also mention I have a fairly low metabolism for the majority of my life. I constantly craved sweets. It made me nauseous every day at random, horrible mood swings, and crying spells the first month. It also increased my cup size and got rid of acne on my back, but the other side effects were too horrific for me. I am now discontinuing the pill and going back to the patch."

For Birth Control "This was my first birth control medication, and I had a pretty rough time with it. I thought it would help clear up my acne. I didn't have acne issues whatsoever before taking this medication, and it just completely made me break out like never before. Also, I'm not much of an emotional person at all and had major mood swings and sometimes depression. Yes, it did serve its purpose by preventing pregnancy, it did help regulate my period, and my cramps weren't as bad, however, my face is literally a pepperoni face. I just got off of it 2 weeks ago, and my face is starting to clear up, and I'm not moody anymore. For a 19-year-old college student, you definitely don't want to have acne and mood swings. I would not recommend taking this at all."

For Birth Control "I was on Chateal for about two years until I moved to a different state that didn't carry it. The best thing about it was it cleared my skin completely! I wouldn't even wash my face for days, and I still never got a pimple (I'm definitely prone to acne). However, it did lower my sex drive and make me extremely apathetic. The week before my period, I always got aggravated easily too, which was odd 'cause I'm a very mellow person. No weight gain, though! The first month, it did make me a little emotional, but after that, I really didn't have any emotions (which was the problem). However, I really do miss this medication. Now I constantly have acne, and the pill I'm on now makes me spot. Definitely recommend Chateal, though."

For Birth Control "I was initially prescribed Chateal in August of 2016 and began experiencing intense mood swings after several months’ use. I am a very emotionally stable person normally, so after journaling the effects and doing some research, I decided that this was not normal and stopped taking it. I felt better right away. After starting a new relationship, I started taking Chateal again in October of 2017, hoping that this time it would be different... it wasn’t. About two months in, I began feeling depressed and experiencing deep-in-the-pit-of-my-stomach anxiety. I would go from a happy mood to a depressed mood and back again in the matter of minutes, even waking up in the middle of the night with anxiety. I experienced terrible insomnia, irritability, loss of appetite, nausea, and vomiting. After reading reviews, I am happy to know that I am not as crazy as I feel and that other people have dealt with the same things, so hopefully this review can help someone else!"

For Birth Control "I gave these pills a fair shot. After the first few months, I really started to notice extreme mood swings and an overall change in my mood. I was always angry, sad, and unhappy. Especially the week before my period, I was just plain psychotic. My cramps got worse on this pill too, they would start up to a week before my period. My periods got longer but also lighter. I gained 30 pounds in a year, and my acne got worse after about 6 months. The acne cleared up the first few months, though. I also would get nausea and headaches. My sex drive was just fine, no change. Vaginal dryness, yes. It did work, though, never had a single pregnancy scare. I just couldn't handle the mood changes, and neither could my relationship."

For Birth Control "I was on Chateal for 4 months, and I didn't like it. I was always moody and very emotional. I was always feeling depressed, and I didn't like that. I'm normally a happy person, so when I started feeling this way, I immediately wanted to switch birth control. The only thing I liked about it was that I had an appetite and was able to gain weight like I wanted to, unlike the other birth controls I've taken. I didn't like being moody all the time, so I switched to the depo shot, and I've been so much happier."

For Birth Control "My experience with my first month of using Chateal has been eventful. I feel a little less stress in the getting not getting pregnant aspect of taking birth control, however, the side effects have been testing. I'm almost always feeling nauseous or bloated, and I can tell I've gained a lot of weight. I have had crazy mood swings, which has caused some issues between my boyfriend and me. I was out to eat with some friends, and I literally wanted to simultaneously punch a wall, laugh, and cry all at once. I feel my depression is growing stronger, but I am taking preemptive strikes to keep that controlled. Yes, I would suggest this pill. However, Chateal may not be for everyone."

For Birth Control "This pill did clear my acne, but it took about six months. It gives me this weird feeling like I am about to burst out in tears, but I do not because there is nothing to be upset about when I think about it. I was in a negative mental rut today, and I think it was due to this pill. No weight gain, and I hope the mood swings are not as bad as I am naturally already a moody person. Very effective in preventing pregnancy. I stopped it a year ago for a more natural method of B.C., but resumed taking it because my acne came back."

For Birth Control "This birth control is an amateur one for sure. I have been on it for almost 3 months now. I have mood swings, weight gain in hips and thighs (I'm a professional athlete and have never had weight there), increased appetite, and occasional bleeding. I have had some minor breakouts too. I am definitely switching over to a different brand."

For Birth Control "I've been taking this brand for a few months now, and I am very happy with it. In the first month, I did realize a bit more acne than usual, though this may have been due to stress as well. In the later months, acne was not a problem. I was slightly more emotional during the placebo weeks, but nothing too out of control. I found that my cramps were virtually disappearing with less and less pain each month. Good reviews aren't written that often. I recommend this brand if you are not easily prone to oily skin and breakouts. Oh! And no weight gain!"

For Birth Control "Good things first; shorter, lighter periods, came at the same time every month, like started and ended the same day of the week, less pain, I get really bad backaches. Now for the bad stuff; discharge, horrible discharge every day. Acne, weight gain, mood changes, like so bad! It ruined my new relationship and turned me into an anxious, depressed mess. Like a literal crazy person. Gave it a three because it's easy to use, I didn't get pregnant, and it made my periods easier. So it did its job, but turned me into a crazy person."

For Birth Control "Can't recommend. The mood swings and fatigue were nothing compared to the violent nausea I experienced when taking this pill. I actually mistook the symptoms for food poisoning for the first couple of days I was taking it. I figured my body would adjust eventually, but after a couple of weeks I couldn't handle it anymore. The sickness subsided immediately when I stopped taking this pill. Estrogen can irritate the stomach, so it might just be that I'm particularly sensitive. I'm now taking a progesterone-only pill, and so far no upset tummy. :)"

For Birth Control "I went to a clinic in downtown. The doctor came in with a bag of these pills without asking me what I wanted to take. I've been on 10 different pills in my lifetime, this one was really the worst. My mood swings were terrible, followed by depression I've never had before. Strange breakthrough bleeding. I cry over nothing like my second trimester of pregnancy, with terrible bloating. They should rename this terrible drug to something evil-sounding to truly reflect what it is like. After I stopped taking it, I felt normal again. The Family Planning Associates should really consider having their doctor take more than 2 minutes with a patient. Careless."

For Birth Control "The first month of taking Chateal was fine. After a month went by, I started getting acne, which I never had, my mood swings were very uncontrollable, I became very, very depressed, and very emotional. The side effects aren't the best."

For Birth Control "The first month of taking it, it had my emotions all out of whack. There was definitely a decrease in my sex drive. I didn't see a difference in my weight or acne. Those stayed about the same. My period cramps are much worse. But overall, the pill did prevent me from getting pregnant."

For Birth Control "So I haven't really been on this brand of the pill for long, however, it has been a horrible experience. A little background: I have been on another brand of birth control before but went off of it and instead was put on this one. After a week, I started experiencing so many horrible things. First was acne, my skin is usually clear, but this made me break out a lot. However, the worst part of it all is the mood swings and emotions. I cry for absolutely no reason and just feel sad. I'm usually not like this, but now even talking to someone will make me burst out in tears, and based on other reviews I see I'm not alone. In terms of not getting pregnant, if used correctly, it does the job, but to me, it's just not worth it."

For Birth Control "Works great for preventing pregnancy. Cleared up my skin. Gained a little weight. Crazy irritable and emotional a couple of days before my period, with a few breakouts and constipation. Haven't had any luck with skipping my period-always breaks through somehow. So I'm switching, but it's been pretty good so far anyways."

For Birth Control "I took this pill for already 1 week and started experiencing negative side effects to it. I was already cautious from reading others' reviews and wanted to watch out and see what I might experience. They were so not good. I've dealt with severe acne growing up and I have finally felt confident in my skin and body when I finally got it to go away. When I got on this pill, I saw acne all over my face almost the next morning. I broke out everywhere. Then I've noticed I feel major bloating and have noticed I am way more emotional than usual. I am already a highly sensitive person and this pill was not right for me at all."

For Birth Control "I must say this birth control was a horrible experience. I had taken Chateal for about 11 months. I experienced horrible mood swings and depression while taking this. I didn't pinpoint that it was the pill until I finally switched birth controls, and my mood swings have been far less than they have been the last 11 months. I know everyone reacts differently to birth control, and this one was NOT for me. Please be in tune with your body and how it reacts."

For Birth Control "First time taking birth control. These pills were the worst. First week was fine, then I started noticing my hair was getting thinner and started spotting brown discharge for almost 3 weeks and started getting redder. I stopped taking them for 2 days and started bleeding heavy. The pills had me dizzy and really bad mood swings!"

For Birth Control "NO! Like someone said earlier, every pill affects every woman differently...but NO! Mood swings galore, like you would not believe. So bad some days I felt I was losing my mind. This happened to me once before on a different pill and I wasn't aware of it, but this time around I knew to be in touch with my body while using a different pill."

For Birth Control "This pill isn't horrible, but it isn't pleasant. You just have to ride out the initial side effect you feel (if you do, everyone is different). Mood swings and nausea were my biggest side effects. My mood swings were so awful, my boyfriend and I had constant nonstop fighting that nearly brought us to the end of our relationship numerous times. It's something you can't explain. I was so irritable for no reason and somehow always took it out on him. I just started my 5th month pack, and everything is so much better. My body has probably adjusted to the pill already."

For Birth Control "This is my first birth control. I'm 18 years old, and I've had it for about three months. It's not very long, but I've had a lot of side effects. I'm very emotional, and normally, it takes a lot to make me break into tears. Now I cry for everything. The worst side effect I've gotten is the pains. I get really sharp pains on my sides around my hip bones or right above my uterus, and it's not cramps. They come out of nowhere, and they are so painful I can't move. While my body is still adjusting, I still am not on the colored pills during my period. I get my period about mid-color, then once I'm on the white normal pill, my period stops, which in my opinion is great because for seven years, I was used to a whole seven-day period, now it's about four."

For Birth Control "I'm on my second month of taking this pill, and I'm really considering changing to another one. I'm usually not an emotional person, but after around 2 weeks on the pills, I just got super emotional about EVERYTHING. I could start crying while eating, talking, walking-just anytime. And I can't even tell why I'm crying and being so emotional. And I just feel depressed all the time with the mood swings. And I get irritated super easily. Also, since I started taking them, I'm so tired ALL the time, all my energy is gone, and I just want to sleep. I haven't noticed either more or less acne than before. I've gained weight around my hips and thighs. But other than that, I'm not pregnant, so that part of the pill works."
