For Birth Control "I've been taking Chateal for 7 months now. It's been effective the whole time I've been on it, but it's been a horrible experience overall. It did not help with my period in any way. My periods are still the same length, they're heavier, and my cramps are worse. Acne never played a part in this as a side effect since I've never had a problem with acne. Taking Chateal literally made me feel insane. I have never in my life felt so sad, angry, and depressed for no reason. I used to only cry getting close to my period, and now I cry all the time the whole month about anything. I constantly felt depressed without a way out because I couldn't figure out why I felt this way. No one should have to feel this way."

For Birth Control "I must say this birth control was a horrible experience. I had taken Chateal for about 11 months. I experienced horrible mood swings and depression while taking this. I didn't pinpoint that it was the pill until I finally switched birth controls, and my mood swings have been far less than they have been the last 11 months. I know everyone reacts differently to birth control, and this one was NOT for me. Please be in tune with your body and how it reacts."

For Birth Control "I started Chateal in January, it's now August, and I stopped taking it about 2 weeks ago. This pill works great for its intended purpose because I definitely didn't get pregnant, but the side effects were becoming too much for me to handle. I gained about 8 pounds, which I did not like as I'm very self-conscious and have a mild eating disorder. It also made me severely depressed and anxious. I would cry all the time at the smallest things, and I just couldn't take it anymore. After just 2 weeks of not taking it, I have noticed a huge improvement in my mood. I haven't cried for 3 days, whereas I was crying about 5 times a day while on the pill."

For Birth Control "This is my 4th month on Chateal, and I have started to notice severe depression setting in. The first 3 months, I felt fine, but now I feel sad all the time. I'm going to stop taking the pill and see if it is Chateal or just me. The plus side to this pill for me was no weight gain, lighter/shorter periods, did not cause breakouts, no pregnancy."

For Birth Control "I used Chateal for about 10 months as birth control. I recommended it 100%, it regulates your period and everything, but it made me so emotional and depressed. I didn't really have a problem with that, and my boyfriend understood the way my emotions changed, so he wouldn't get mad when I was acting like a complete psycho. I changed the pill to Tarina Fe 1/20 because Chateal made me gain 8 pounds in 10 months, and it was almost impossible to drop it. Hopefully, Tarina will not make me gain weight. It's a great method to not get pregnant."

For Birth Control "I've been on this pill for about a year now. I'm 18 years old, and this was the first birth control I've ever been on. At first, I thought it was great, no problems at all, my periods were only 4 days. Everything was good. I'd say about the third month, I started getting all these symptoms. I'll wake up with extreme nausea and have to throw up. I had sharp pains in my stomach. I get very emotional and want to cry all the time for no reason. I do have mood swings, mostly when I'm about to start my period, which is pretty normal. But just recently, like the last few months, I've been feeling very depressed and sad for no reason. Everyone's body is different, and this is just what happened to me, just wanted to share."

For Birth Control "I had been on the pill for many years. When my doctor changed my RX to Chateal, it was as effective. It really did help me by completely clearing my acne, this takes about 6 months, though. I did not gain extra weight or develop any emotional health issues. I stopped taking it because I started using a more natural method of birth control, but started to take it because I hate that my acne came back at age 28. I really hope symptoms like depression or weight gain do not begin to affect me as I am older now. I'm also naturally moody, so this may worsen things. I was in a negative mental rut today. Also, I hope this doesn't push me over the edge, as I believe I am depressed. Hopefully, it'll be just like when I was younger."

For Birth Control "Severe pain when menstruating. First month I went from 118 lbs to 102 lbs. Not normal. I got no acne whatsoever, but my skin just looked tired and dull. I lost my appetite and had no sex drive at all and was so hard to orgasm. I was jealous and super anxious, depressed, and moody. I also got two ear infections in the same month and a popped eardrum, which I’ve never had. Ear infections before, yeast infection, recurring sinus infection. Then about 5 months in, I had extreme pain on one side and bleeding and nausea. I thought I was having a miscarriage or ectopic pregnancy. All scans came out normal. Migraines with flashing lights. Depression. This pill did NOT work for me. I stopped it and felt better literally two days later. I feel back to myself, I gained some weight that I needed, and my skin looks way better. Going to try Yaz. Good luck, ladies."

For Birth Control "I've been taking this for almost 3 months. It works as intended, but during my period, my mood swings would be intense to the point of severe depression, irritability, and suicidal thoughts. I can't say I'm the most well-adjusted person in the first place, but before I was on this, my mood swings were never this bad. I don't want to draw people away from this, as it does work as intended, but mood swings seem to be prominent for this pill according to the other reviews. I'll be considering looking for other BC options once I'm done with this."

For Birth Control "I've been using this pill since around November 2015. My experience with this birth control has been very positive. I've been having unprotected sex and never have gotten pregnant. My boyfriend came in me once recently, and I've been experiencing nausea lately. I'm not sure what it's from or if it's a sign of pregnancy, but I do trust that this pill will protect me from getting pregnant. The nausea could be from the pill itself, which is what other people have been experiencing while on this pill. I know exactly the date when my period comes now, which is nice. Side effects for me could be depression and nausea. I went on antidepressants a couple of months after taking this pill. Acne is gone!!!"

For Birth Control "This is the worst pill I've ever taken. It made me feel very sad, depressed, and I questioned everything and everyone's existence. I felt crazy and not like myself for the whole 2 weeks I took it. My face started to break out severely, and it only got worse in a short span of time. I'm glad I stopped taking this pill because I probably would have attempted suicide. I do not recommend this pill to anyone. Stay away from this one!"

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I was on another brand of BC, but I had a lot of issues with it, and Planned Parenthood gave me a free year's supply of Chateal, so it was worth a try. I have had no issues—in fact, it helped some issues I was having. I’ve had periods that lasted over 4 months in the past, or horrible, painful bleeding where I’d soak through my pants every 45 minutes. I was also very irregular and had a lot of acne. After the first two months, my periods are completely regular and do not last more than 5-7 days. Acne cleared up, and I lost some weight. And no pregnancy, so yay. Only thing is I was nauseous for the first 2-3 months or so, and definitely more depressed than usual, but I already have depression, so there’s that. The pros outweigh the cons with this brand."

For Birth Control "Everything was okay the first few weeks I started to take them. I was taking them the same time every day and never missed a pill. After my first period came, I started to notice my mood swings, one minute I was okay, the next I wanted to yell at someone, and I just thought it was because I just started taking the pills. A week after that, I would wake up in the middle of each night and throw up, the next day being so depressed I didn't even want to move. I tried to continue to take them but couldn't due to the side effects I was having every day, the worst I ever took."

For Birth Control "I am naturally tall and slender and have a very athletic build. At first, this birth control, Chateal, was great for me, after about a month of adjustment. Periods are light and easy to schedule or skip. I experienced no weight gain. It has now been 11 months and having some unpleasant side effects. Mood swings, depression, and fatigue, and like most women said, COMPLETE loss of sex drive. This has been the biggest problem for me, as I am in a great relationship and it is coming between us. I will have to find something that is better suited to my hormones."

For Birth Control "Was actually excited to start the pill, set an alarm on my phone, and found it weirdly satisfying how easy it was to take it every day on time without missing. BUT this pill gave me horrible side effects, I was super nauseous at all times, moody, depressed, and feeling pregnancy symptoms constantly. After 2 months of taking it, I had weird spotting and found out I was pregnant!!!! The symptoms started off so similar to pregnancy symptoms that I had no clue I was already 6 weeks along!! I wouldn’t recommend."

For Birth Control "Don’t get me wrong, the pill did its job! It made my period regular, and I didn’t end up pregnant while on the pill, but it had some crazy side effects to it. At the beginning, I started with just headaches, and slowly over time it caused me to have through the roof anxiety, depression, and nausea. It got to the point where I couldn’t take it anymore and had to stop taking the pill."

For Birth Control "I started this birth control a year ago, and for around 9 months, everything was fine. I was emotionally stable, there wasn't any significant weight gain, and my periods were super predictable and manageable. I ran out around the end of November, and I elected to take a break from the pills and didn't refill. When my period came in December, PMS hit me like a freight train. It was awful, so I reordered and everything was totally different the second time around. I don't know whether the formula changed at some point, or if something changed with my body, but I've had prolonged vaginal bleeding and have been experiencing crippling depression and anxiety. I stopped taking the pills last week and everything is 100% better."
