For Birth Control "I've only been on Aviane for a month, and I absolutely hate it. I would not recommend this to anyone. I was taking Aubra before, but wanted to get out of Planned Parenthood. So I went to my family doctor, he gave me this. I have been depressed, have had bad mood swings, absolutely no sex drive, my breasts are very tender and seem larger, and I know I've gained weight. This will be my one and only month on it."

For Birth Control "I have been taking Aviane birth control for a month now, and so far, so good. I had to switch birth controls because my last birth control caused me to have breakthrough bleeding almost every other week. It was horrible. But now I am no longer having that problem, no skin problems, no weight gain, and no mood swings. I just hope it stays this way."

For Birth Control "I originally started taking Aviane about 7 months ago because I had pretty bad acne. After about 2 months on this pill, my face had cleared up completely. I would get maybe one or two little pimples about two days before my period would come, but other than that I had nothing (which was really nice for me since I've been struggling with acne since the 7th grade). Besides that, I had no weight gain, no cramps. My period was a little irregular for the first couple of months, but it got regulated, and they are great, light, and only 3 days. I have tried other birth control pills, including Ortho Tri-Cyclen, Mononessa, and Previfem, but this one by far has worked the best for me."

For Birth Control "Pros: no babies! No acne, no weight gain. Steady cycle, less blood loss. Cons: potential hair loss, in the first 3 months, awful migraines! Extremely tired all the time and after taking the pill. I started having severe anxiety, anxiety driving or over the smallest things. Depression: this pill made me extremely depressed to the point that at times I was suicidal. Although rationally I knew I was fine and the world wasn’t awful, this pill made my world hell. Mood swings! My mood was so easily triggered by the stupidest things! Often 30 minutes after taking the pill, I would change my mood 4 times in 20 minutes. Turned my sex drive way down. I was miserable on this pill for 9 months and would not recommend it to anyone. Switched to Triqular. The first month was great. Then got sick on week four of every pack. Also started gaining a lot of weight and was crazy hungry all the time and just wanted to eat junk. Switching to try LoLo before giving up altogether!"

For Birth Control "I started taking Aviane 4 months ago and it caused me to have bad adult acne, little bumps all over my face. My period lasts for 9 days instead of 12, but I haven't had success skipping it. I gained 7 lbs of water weight and thigh fat that makes my thighs rub together like no other. My breasts are larger and tender sometimes. My hair is thinner and sheds a lot more and is brittle. My vagina is dry all the time. I have pain in my knees and ankle a lot when I bear weight on them. It has helped with the heavy bleeding that I experience. I don't think I should stay on these. I'm not sure if the low energy is from these or my fibroids."

For Birth Control "Although it has only been a week of using Aviane, I have to say that I love it. I've been on the patch, and it definitely made me moody, to the point where I would cry constantly and randomly. It made me gain 10 lbs in a week, and I just hated it so much. Aviane, so far, is amazing. I've been at my lowest weight (during my period). I've lost my appetite, though, but it's not necessarily a bad thing. No bloating, no breakouts, but I am experiencing longer period flow. But it's only been the first week. So fingers crossed that this will keep being amazing to me."

For Birth Control "Started off taking the birth control, and I thought it was fine... then I noticed myself gaining weight even though I work out 6 days a week, and my acne got so bad I would cry because it would hurt so bad. It wasn’t always my face, mainly my back, and it worsened my eczema by making my skin very dry. I also experienced fatigue a lot more while on this. I took myself off of it, and now I’m in the process of starting something new."

For Birth Control "I have been on Alesse for years, and my drug plan changed, and I was only allowed to get the generic Aviane 21. I’m on day 9, and I’ve gained 16 lbs and have bad headaches about 1 hour after I take it. I’m taking Advil ES every evening because of it. My weight has been the same for about 15 years, maybe a fluctuation of a pound once in a while, but 16 lbs in 9 days? My doctor I’ve seen for the entire time, and she always does a weight, and nothing has changed. This is a dangerous generic version, and I stopped taking it tonight. Imagine I kept taking it for the entire month? I would have gained so much weight and had such strain on my heart. Horrible, never take this. If I could have given it a zero, I would have. Now I have to be off birth control for a while, then go back on the Alesse."

For Birth Control "Aviane was the first birth control I've taken, I started when I was 20, and I took it for about 6 months. The first month was pretty bad - I had my period for all of it, then the second and third month I had my period for two weeks. Initially, I felt depressed at times, especially about my boyfriend, but I was fine by the 3rd month. My boobs maybe got a little larger, and my skin did clear up, but I might have gained some weight over the months (I also stopped working out). The main reason why I'm no longer taking it is that for the past 3 months, my period started 3 or 4 days earlier during the active pills, so I needed a birth control with higher doses. Overall, I have no complaints, and it definitely works at preventing pregnancy."

For Birth Control "This pill works wonderfully for me! Only 'negative' is about 5 lbs of weight gain. Otherwise, clears my skin, makes skin not oily (face, back, chest), lessens oil on my scalp (hair never gets greasy), reduces body odor, balances mood, cramps are moderate and only for 1 day during my period that is very short (2-4 days) and very light. Went off it once for about 6-8 months: hated it. Back on - great experience on this pill for me."

For Birth Control "I gained 18 pounds on this birth control. I’ve always had a very fast metabolism, then I got on this, and that just screwed it up. I was on Aviane for 6 months. I finally had to just get off it. I got it because I have very heavy periods and horrible cramps, and if anything, my birth control helped make it worse. I stuck it out because everyone said it would get better, but I just got SICK OF IT!!!! I switched birth control very recently to Zovia, hopefully, this works better for me!"

For Birth Control "I've been using this medication for quite some time. I have never had a reaction to it. No weight gain, clear skin, minimal moodiness close to the time I take my placebo pills. Best birth control I've ever tried, and I'm sticking to it unless my doctor forces me off."

For Birth Control "This pill made me crazy. My emotions were very unpleasant. I suffered from mild depression and overall stress and anxiety. This pill also made me gain a bit of weight, along with more serious period pain."

For Birth Control "I tried taking Junel Fe for a month, and it was bad. So I got switched to Aviane, a lower dosage. At first, it made me lose my appetite, but on the second month, no side effects at all, no weight gain, acne, or mood swings. I would recommend this birth control to anybody."

For Birth Control "I have been on Aviane for 2 months, and I think I am going to stop taking it. For 2 months, my breasts have been extremely sore and don't fit in my bathing suits or bras like they used to. I know bigger breasts is usually a good side effect for most people on birth control, but when you already wear a 32 DDD, the last thing you need is bigger breasts! I have also noticed much more bloating and weight gain (about 5-7 pounds). My face has stayed clear, but I cannot deal with the sore breasts and weight gain."

For Birth Control "I have been on Aviane for 1 week. I was so scared to start BC. I was on Yaz for about 2 years 3 years ago, and it was not good. Aviane: no weight gain so far, my breasts got bigger, super clear skin, increased libido, loss of appetite, no nausea, no headache. Yaz: 1st week nightmare, dizzy and severe nausea, it went away after the 1st week, no weight gain, loss of libido, got very emotional. Every woman is different, but in my personal experience, Aviane has been by far better and a good option overall."

For Birth Control "I've used Aviane for about 5 months now. I switched from Tri-Cyclen Lo (great skin, bigger boobs BUT cramps) to Aviane because my cramps were so bad. My cramps did disappear, I did not gain weight, and I had an increase in sex drive, however, my skin got terrible! So bad that I'm thinking about going back on Tri-Cyclen Lo and dealing with cramps, or switching to Yaz, which my gyno recommended! Every birth control affects everyone differently, so reading reviews may not tell you how it will affect you. I'd say ask your doctor and try whatever they offer out!"

For Birth Control "I'm almost on month 3 of this birth control, and I've not had any problems with it. I haven't experienced any acne or weight gain. I'm just still trying to figure my periods. The first month it came the day I started my first sugar pill. This month I'm on my 2nd sugar pill and no sign of my period. However, overall I have been very satisfied with this BC."

For Birth Control "Was on this pill for 3+ years. The only positive was that it stopped my heavy periods. Other than that, it made my acne worse, caused terrible mood swings, and made me gain over 20 lbs. I also experienced a very serious side effect. As a result of the estrogen in this pill, I ended up having a transient ischemic attack (TIA) at just 19 years old. I understand that the fine print does state that you are at an elevated risk of blood clots when taking this pill, however, I guess I was one of the unlucky ones."

For Birth Control "This is the first pill I have tried (have been on it about 9 months). I was previously on Depo. I have had positive and negative experiences. My period only lasts about 3 days, which is wonderful, and moderate cramping. I do have severe mood swings quite often, and my whole family tells me about it. I feel hungry all the time and have gained about 10 pounds and get very fatigued. My breasts grew a full cup size, which I am indifferent about, but a plus for others. I do like the shorter periods, but not the crazy moodiness I have."

For Birth Control "I took this pill for birth control, less cramps and a lighter period. Overall, the pill got the job done. I had very light periods, and they lasted only 5 days. However, only one month into taking the pill, I got my very first yeast infection. Since then, I have had many infections/vaginal irritations, sometimes lasting a whole month! This has ruined my sex drive and made me very uncomfortable. I finally realized that maybe the pill is causing this irritation, and I have been off of it for a week. Feeling better... Also, breasts grew a full size but were always very tender. I never had bad breakouts, but I did gain a little weight - 5 lbs."

For Birth Control "I've been on this for about 3 or 4 years now, and I love it. It has worked great for me, with no side effects. I've had no weight gain, no flare in acne, and not any unusual mood swings. This is the only birth control I've ever taken, and it has worked wonderfully for me!"

For Birth Control "I always used Yasmin, but from my home country and actually lost weight for almost 2 years. Once I got in the U.S. last October, I had to switch pills to the Yazmin from here, and the pharmacy actually gave me the generic brand, Ocella. Awful for me. Switched to the actual Yasmin, but same thing, I gained around 40 pounds in less than 6 months and even stopped at the ER because of Ocella. Aviane was prescribed last month, and it's the best pill I took since I arrived here. Pretty much back to normal except for the extra pounds that it's been easier to lose now, way less hormones than the other pills. I love it! Oh, and sex drive increased 100%."

For Birth Control "I have been on Aviane for almost 3 weeks. My breasts are swollen and very tender (that began about a week and a half after I started Aviane). I am extremely tired most of the time, even though I am getting sleep. I'm always hungry, have already put on a few pounds. I feel like I'm more short-tempered and moodier too."

For Birth Control "I've been on Aviane for about 3 months, and so far, it's been pretty good. I've had no weight gain, hardly any spotting, and absolutely no pimples, lighter periods, a few mood swings. I do get migraines, which I got before I started the pill, and nausea, which are both tolerable."
