For Birth Control "I just started my 3rd week of active pills yesterday, and so far, so good. Before Aviane, I was on the Depo shot for a little over 2 years, and I had so many problems and was miserable. So far, I've had nothing serious: a little bit of breast tenderness, a few cramps. My sex drive has definitely increased from what it used to be. I take my pill at night but haven't really had any nausea. Going on my 3rd week, I sort of feel like PMS symptoms, but it could also be stress. Hard to tell. Overall, I'm happy with this pill."

For Endometriosis "I've been on many medicines since I found out I had endometriosis back in 2010. I've gone through six surgeries and nearly every medication out there, including IDUS, Nuva Rings, Implanon, birth control pills, shots, etc. I've been on Aviane now for seven weeks; I have bled my first three weeks into it, had two weeks of spotting, and now back to bleeding again. I have much faith that the doctor assures me that this medicine takes time to kick in. Over the last three weeks, I have gotten headaches, sick to my stomach, bleeding, odd rashes on legs/leg pain. These are very minor side effects compared to some other things I've tried. Holding out hope that this works. My opinion is everyone should give it a try. Side effects are minor compared to most."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "Started taking Aviane to regulate my periods. I was basically having two (8-10 day) heavy periods a month. It was ridiculously and a bit embarrassing telling my husband not yet all the time. So the side effects: nausea, acne, acne, acne, sex drive skyrocketed, really bad cramps, bloated, anxiety, and depression. I was not pleased by this birth control, so I called my doctor after my first pack and switched me to Blisorvi age 1/20. Everyone’s body responds differently though."

For Birth Control "I began taking this birth control about 7 months ago. Upon taking it during the first month, I experienced severe nausea, headaches, and a heavy period with the worst cramps I have ever had. Each month alternates with irregular bleeding (getting my period before the placebo pill week) with cramps, which might be due to a wrong prescription. I have gained 7 pounds despite doing CrossFit 4 times a week, retaining fat around my midsection. Also, I have been moody, anxious, and have had continuous night sweats and headaches. I will be getting off of this pill ASAP after realizing that this medication is not worth the horrible side effects. I keep giving it another month to see if it will get better, but it hasn't."

For Birth Control "I’ve been taking Aviane for about 3 months now. The birth control has cleared up my acne-prone skin, but does come with other side effects that are hard to ignore. The breast tenderness is intense. So tender that even a light touch is unbearable. Nausea is also a huge problem. I have days when I’m so nauseous that even when I eat I have to vomit. The nausea here lately has worsened. I have taken a pregnancy test just to rule it out; not pregnant. My sex drive hasn’t been affected much, thankfully. I plan to give Aviane a year. Hopefully, these side effects will subside."

For Birth Control "Aviane is effective at preventing pregnancy. However, the side effects made the pill intolerable for me. As with all birth control, my physician recommended I give the pill a few months to work. I gave it five months, much to no avail. I’ve had extreme moodiness, acne breakouts consistently (jawline), worsened eczema, fatigue, and morning nausea. I am in the process of switching to another birth control at the moment."

For Birth Control "I took Aviane for about a year and a half. At first, I loved it, it was very effective the whole time. Very little side effects in the beginning, no weight gain. But after a year, my anxiety and panic got way worse to the point I couldn’t leave home. I also started to have gastrointestinal issues and terrible mood swings, I’d be happy and normal one minute and then lashing out the next. I quit Aviane about 3 months ago and already feel back to my normal self. No more major mood swings, no more stomach pain, and my general anxiety is almost non-existent, at least it’s not affecting me in a way that’s debilitating. My body still isn’t back to its natural cycle, but I’m getting there slowly but surely. If you do quit, though, make sure to get a multivitamin. After my first two periods, it took me 4 days to recover from feeling weak, dizzy, and nauseous. May look for a different pill in the future but not sure."

For Birth Control "Aviane was the first ever birth control pill I tried, and I had a really great experience on it. I had little to no side effects, no nausea, no new breakouts, and no drastic weight gain. My periods come when expected on the placebo pills, and I would say they’re much more regulated now since I do get irregular periods from time to time (mostly discharge like old period blood). I’ve only been on it for 2 months so far, but I really do recommend this hormonal pill to anyone who is looking to try out some sort of birth control or pregnancy prevention. I had intercourse almost every day for a whole month straight, and I am not pregnant, phew! I ordered mine off of The Pill Club, and I really recommend their service as well! Stay safe, gals!"

For Birth Control "I have taken both Aviane and Falmina-both brands of levonorgestrel-estradiol 0.1-20 mg-mcg. Have had nothing but a good experience. My first month taking Aviane, I had some bleeding during the middle of my cycle, which might have been because I started it during the middle of my cycle. But since then, no spotting, periods always start 2-3 days after starting reminder pills. Very minor breast tenderness, only some months, but nothing different than I had with periods before I took Aviane. No weight gain, nausea, or anything like that. Highly recommend!"

For Birth Control "I've tried many birth control pills, but they all caused severe mood swings and depression. I like the fact that this pill seemed at first to have little to no negative effect on my mood. (I've been on it for 3 years). However, in the past year, I began having severe anxiety attacks and was diagnosed with an anxiety disorder after I began waking up in the mornings feeling faint and sick to my stomach, laying on the bathroom floor. I constantly feel exhausted, and although active, have gained 20 pounds in the past year. I also noticed an increase in my acne the past two years. I think this is because of the birth control. I am switching to the copper IUD next week and am so excited because it is hormone-free! I hope this helps."

For Birth Control "I have a hard time rating this because my feelings are mixed. I naturally have emotionally high highs and low lows when not on any birth control. On this pill, the emotions have somewhat leveled out, though not as much as they did on Yaz and maybe not enough. The real downside is a severely decreased sex drive (same response on Yaz), and it's affecting my relationship with my boyfriend. I can't attribute my breast growth, skin clearing, or weight gain to Aviane - all due to other factors. I take Aviane at night to sleep through the nausea (same on Yaz). If I miss a pill and have to take 2, it WILL make me vomit. But taking 1 pill each night as prescribed makes it manageable. I don't want to shop around, but maybe Aviane is not the pill for me."

For Birth Control "My experience on this medication was awful. For the first week, I felt sick to my stomach, which I understand is a fairly common side effect. But then I developed a really horrible headache that felt similar to a low-grade migraine, and vomited up everything that I tried to eat. The headache and vomiting lasted for about a day, and I discontinued the pill immediately. My symptoms subsided, and thankfully I feel much better now that this drug isn't in my system anymore."

For Birth Control "I've been on Aviane for a little under a month now, and I'm 19. This is my first birth control. I've never had acne and have started breaking out. The first week I had severe nausea, fatigue, and cramps, the second week was fine aside from general moodiness, and then the first day of the third week I got my period and am now on day 9 of bleeding. I started birth control to shorten the absurd length of my period due to my extremely busy schedule, but this birth control has given me a lighter but no shorter period, extreme fatigue, and a mean/cranky demeanor."

For Birth Control "I have been on Aviane for 4 years now and only recently went off of it for about 6 months to try the DEPO shot. I have had zero issues with it up until going back on it after the interim. I am very sensitive to hormones, and the DEPO shot was not for me (crying, mood swings, feeling off). I was even switched to Lutera two years ago when the pharmacy was out of Aviane and I immediately noticed the difference with mood swings, sadness, and vaginal sensitivity. For the first month back on Aviane I didn’t notice a huge difference, but this second month I am thinking I am sleeping more, gaining some weight, and feeling off. I am also having extreme bouts of nausea. I am going to discontinue and hope that alleviates some of my symptoms."

For Birth Control "I'm 19 and I've been on Aviane for 8 days now. I switched from Diane 35. I never experienced side effects while on my old pill, but I had to change pills because the other one has more estrogen and is also for acne, which I don't have much of anymore. Since being on Aviane, I've been having cramps very often. I've been feeling nauseous, and yesterday I vomited. I also felt very tired for a few days, even though I had slept over 10 hours the previous nights. On the plus side, it hasn't affected my skin and my sex drive is normal. I'll see how I feel by the end of the month."

For Birth Control "I have never stuck to one birth control before because I have always had bad experiences with side effects. I am on my first month now, and I feel so ill. My nausea is extreme, I have had a headache for weeks, and I'm very off balance. The only thing that has changed in my life is starting this birth control. I am going to give it another month and see what happens."
