For Birth Control "I've been on Aviane for about 2 months now. It's my first time on birth control. I've recently been feeling a little nauseous and tired, but other than that I've had no problems. I haven't gained or lost weight since I've been on it. It's the 12th today, and I'm supposed to get my period on the 19th. Even though there's still time, I'm still worried I'm pregnant because of the nausea and fatigue. Maybe that's just side effects from the pill. I take this pill at the same time each day. I don't miss pills. I heard this is a very effective pill."

For Birth Control "Unfortunately, this specific birth control was not a good fit for me. I had been on BC pills in the past and have never had an experience as bad as this one. I had only been taking it for a few days, every time I would wake up with intense waves of nausea that would last all day. I was violently throwing up, shaking, chills, fatigued, sweating profusely. As soon as I stopped my prescription, I immediately felt so much better. I was prescribed this BC from an online website called NURX. I recommend going into your OB office for a more personal experience with someone who knows your body as well as you do :)"

For Birth Control "So I started Aviane earlier this year and was on it for two months. It made my periods shorter, and it did lessen the pain of my period. I stopped the pill for personal reasons and then got back on it after two months. Since being back, I had a period last 14 days. I saw an influx of acne, and I never had an issue with acne before. And nausea. Now I'm noticing a deep depression, anxiety, and irritability. I'm already depressed enough, so this isn't really helping. I want to give the pill at least 3 months to even out in my body, but so far I am not liking how it is making me feel."

For Ovarian Cysts "This is a terrible drug. I have tried 5 or 6 different birth control pills, but this one was unbearable. It gave me panic attacks, nausea, dizziness, and high blood pressure. I didn't last a week. I would never ever recommend this birth control pill. I can't wait until it is 100% out of my system."

For Birth Control "I have been using this pill for a month now, just today starting my second pack. So far this first month, I experienced a little bit of nausea and a lot of pelvic pain, and it made me so hungry! But no weight gain. I was taking this pill to help me with my horrible heavy bleeding, cyst, and horrible cramps, but my period this month has been the worst one yet. My cramps are horrible, the bleeding is just as heavy, and I'm not passing clots! I'm not sure if it is not helping yet because it's barely my first month? But the clot part freaked me out a bit."

For Birth Control "I am 23 years of age, and this is the first BCP I was put on to treat my severe cramps. The first week of taking it, I was extremely nauseous, but that was the only side effect I noticed. Until my third week, in 10 days before my period, I started getting dark discharge heavily for a week. On top of that, I experienced cramps that weren't as painful as they usually are, but still enough pain for me to feel uncomfortable and notice them. My skin also broke out really badly, which was the worst side effect of them all since I had clear skin when I started. I'm not sure whether I want to continue into my second month to see if it will improve or switch altogether. My impression of it at the moment is it hasn't done much good for me."

For Birth Control "I have been on this pill (Aviane) for almost 4 months, and so far have had a pleasant experience! I’m not pregnant, have minimal cramps along with light and shorter periods. No noticeable weight gain or other side effects, just sometimes some nausea if I eat right before bed along with taking it. But overall, recommend :)"

For Birth Control "I’ve been taking the Aviane pill for a month. I’ve taken Lessina and Lutera before and never had any issues like the ones I’ve had on this pill. I experienced anxiety for the first two weeks that eventually went away. My skin has cleared up, however, I still get about two breakouts here and there. My first cycle was completely fine, except it ended up being longer than what my cycle usually is. I did spot during the second week and then three days before my second expected cycle. My second cycle right now hit me like a wrecking ball. My cramps are so bad, and I’m sick to my stomach. I have a headache, backache, and bad nausea. I’m also really emotional and cried a couple of times, which is not normal for me. This is the second day where I’m feeling this way, and it’s definitely not worth me continuing to take this pill. I’m going to look into another pill because I’ve never had this many side effects before."

For Birth Control "I've been on Aviane for about 3 months, and so far, it's been pretty good. I've had no weight gain, hardly any spotting, and absolutely no pimples, lighter periods, a few mood swings. I do get migraines, which I got before I started the pill, and nausea, which are both tolerable."

For Birth Control "I have been on Aviane for about 3 years now, and for the first 2 weeks or so, I was very nauseous. After the first 2 weeks, that went away, and I have had absolutely no side effects, no weight gain, no change in skin really, and mood stayed the same. I love Aviane, and it's pretty cheap, so I will continue to stick with it."

For Birth Control "I've only been using Aviane for two months, but in those two months, I've seen great improvement! I switched from a different pill that caused weight gain and loss of libido. There are no libido issues with Aviane, and I'm already down a few pounds. I can take this pill continuously without any breakthrough bleeding or queasiness. It's great."

For Endometriosis "I have been on this birth control for about a month and a half now. I have had some side effects within the 2nd and 3rd weeks with nausea and getting sick to my stomach after I ate, and I did get a headache here and there. I have felt slight weight gain, but nothing too noticeable, and the first few days I was a complete and total cow, but that's gone away very quickly. Otherwise, this pill is good for me. No serious side effects. I haven't had a period yet since I went on vacation and didn't want to have it because I wasn't sure what to expect, but I will have one at the end of this month. But so far, so good."

For Birth Control "This pill is the worst one I've taken; I've never been on such a problematic birth control like this before, and it's causing so much stress in my daily life. I switched from Reclipsen because it gave me a migraine every day. On the bright side, this pill hasn't given me any. Unfortunately, what it has given me is terrible acne, depression, day-long lasting nausea, and the day before my period, I had horrible pains in my right side from my belly button to the bottom of my pubic bone that I nearly went into the ER. It was so debilitating that I couldn't move a muscle. Now, upon my self-examination, I've discovered a lump and have nipple discharge. I'm not entirely sure if the birth control is the direct link, but my doctors and I will see."

For Birth Control "I have been taking birth control pills for over 10 years and never experienced a single negative side (other than bloating) until taking Ethinyl Estradiol & Levonorgestrel, also known as Aviane. It led to near-constant nausea and severe adult acne. A warning to women everywhere: STAY AWAY. Ethinyl Estradiol & Levonorgestrel, AKA Aviane, also goes by the following brand names: Alesse, Altavera, Amethyst, Enpresse, Lessina, Levlen, Levora, Lutera, Lybrel, Nordette, Orsythia, Portia, Sronyx, Tri-Levlen, Triphasil-21, Triphasil-28, Trivora-28."

For Birth Control "On the 3rd day of taking this medication, it caused SEVERE indigestion, which I had never experienced. I ended up in the ER because it also had upset my gallbladder, almost causing emergency surgery. I eat a vegan diet and never had gallbladder trouble; this was the most severe symptom I experienced. I also would get constant, extreme nausea at the same time every day. I also was unable to stay awake at work, or even driving to work, no matter how long I would sleep. I completely lost my sex drive. And lastly, I did experience pretty heavy spotting a few days in; even though I waited until the Sunday after my cycle to start. This medication was clearly not for me, and I stopped taking it on day 8."

For Birth Control "I switched brands to Aviane. I have been taking this for three months now. The first two months were awful. My symptoms were synonymous with pregnancy symptoms, and I even had to take a pregnancy test. I had spotting, awful cramps, weight gain, breakouts, breast tenderness, morning sickness, fatigue, mood swings, and even depression. Now, things are starting to get better. I only get headaches occasionally, painful cramping, and breast tenderness. My skin has completely cleared up, much to my surprise. I am iffy about this brand of birth control. I'm going to continue for a couple more months, and if things get better, I will stay on it, and if things worsen again, I am going to switch."

"I switched from Junel Fe to Aviane because Junel made me break out. While my skin was flawless on Aviane for the four days I took it, I had severe mood swings. I would wake up angry and nauseous and cry almost three times a day for no reason at all. I had the same reaction to Plan B, and the progestin used in that is the same in Aviane. After four days on this medicine, I switched back to Junel, and I've been happy ever since! Lesson: don't switch birth control if acne is your only complaint. Stay with the medicine you have the least amount of side effects with."

For Birth Control "When I first started Aviane, I was so bloated, and the nausea was terrible. I thought I was pregnant, but I wasn't. I'm on month 6 now, and I don't feel any nauseousness, and I don't get bloated anymore. However, my mood swings have been terrible! I would get so angry, and I would sob at any cute animal on the internet. One side effect I can't ignore is the hunger. I will eat and eat and eat, and I've gained about 5 pounds. It's like I'm never full. But it's good that I gained weight because before taking the pill, I had no appetite and was slightly underweight. I appear healthier now. I feel a little more sane now, so I'm hoping that the emotional side effect will go away eventually. I also experienced some spotting when taking the pill continuously, skipping the placebos (but that's completely normal). I also had an increase in acne, but that went away quickly. I really do like this pill."

For Birth Control "I have been taking Aviane for about 3 years now. It is my first and only birth control I have ever taken. It is perfect, except for the side effects I get when I forget to take it. If I forget to take it one day, I have to double up on it the next day, and that makes me sick, and I throw up. Other than that, it's great. No cramps, lighter periods. Highly recommended."

For Birth Control "My breasts hurt. I get mood swings, headaches, a lot of nausea, which in a way is good because I lost a few lbs instead of gaining weight. However, it gave me depression. On the other side, periods are great, very light, and no cramps or anything. I tried NuvaRing once, and I had this horrible discharge, so I stopped using it. I've been on Alesse in the past, but insurance doesn't cover it. My main reason to take birth control is to prevent ovarian cysts. I hope it works because they are very painful. I think I'm going to keep using it for another month, see what happens."

For Birth Control "This will only be my second month taking this pill, so I know my body may need more time to adjust, but I just wanted to share my initial reviews. Positives: It has really cleared up my skin, and my period has been lighter. Negatives: my mood swings are extreme, I have gained weight, I get nauseous and have slight headaches, and my breasts are sore and seem to be bigger. (I was already a big cup size, so wasn't looking to have more added on.) All in all, though, I am going to give it another 2 months to see if things start to change."

For Birth Control "Now on Aviane for almost 2 months, I'm somewhat happy. My periods once again follow a schedule and have become lighter. I don't notice any difference in cramping or bloating from before (I usually experience those on the first day and still do). I'm occasionally nauseous in the mornings. The worst side effect for me is acne. I had pretty normal skin before-dry with one or two breakouts a month-now I'm oily. And no matter how diligent I am about skincare, I wake up every morning with at least 3 or 4 (and often more) new whiteheads. I'm getting frustrated, but trying to give my body another month to regulate. I'd hate to chance switching to something else that's worse, but if this acne doesn't subside, I'm going back to my doctor."

"I have been on Aviane for about three months now since my pharmacy no longer had Alesse. I have been on now four different birth controls. I can say Aviane is my favorite so far. It has cleared up my skin, and I have not gained any weight. The only few problems I have had with this medication are nausea, and my period seems to come for a day, and it's gone, or sometimes does not show up. I am not pregnant, but it has done this for the past three months. I know it is supposed to cause lighter/shorter periods but was not expecting this effect. But other than the random, almost not-there periods, I have nothing to complain about this product."

For Birth Control "I just started taking these pills about a month ago, I'm about to start my second pack. The only side effects I've had are slight nausea the first week I started taking them. My breasts are swollen, I still break out, and have had a lot of spotting initially, but now I don't. I don't have any mood swings. I feel sleepy even though I sleep plenty. That's about it."

For Birth Control "I've started this pill 3 weeks ago, and I've had a headache the first three days, and at the end of the first week, I had really bad cramps that I never had before. It lasted an hour. I did have some mood swings where I would just break into tears, but after that first week, I haven't had any pains or mood swings. My skin did change, and I am breaking out, but it doesn't really bother me. I've always had bad skin. This is the first time I have been on any sort of birth control, and so far so good. I just got my period, so I'm not pregnant. I take it first thing in the morning with water and never got nausea. Oh, and my weight hasn't changed. Yay!"
