For Postmenopausal Symptoms "I have used a hormone patch for well over 10 years. Originally was Vivelle Dot. Then insurance went for a generic version, which is Sandoz Estradiol Transdermal System. They are horrible. They will NOT stay on 1 day, let alone 3 1/2 days. JUNK. What are you supposed to do to keep them on? Clean with alcohol before, use tape over the huge patch, and they still don't stay on."

For Oophorectomy "I have been on the patch for a month now, and it works. No more hot flashes, night sweats, mood swings. It stays on all week, and the only side effect I have experienced is mild headaches. The convenience of weekly application is great."

For Postmenopausal Symptoms "I was on Minivelle patches for 2 years when my insurance decided they would no longer pay for them. I was given the generic by Mylan, and it is bigger than the Minivelle patch. It helps some. When I was on the Minivelle patch, I was able to sleep through the night and did not experience any hot flashes. With the Mylan patch, I do not sleep through the night, and hot flashes are sporadic. My rating is based off of the Mylan brand. I would give Minivelle a 9."

For Postmenopausal Symptoms "A big zero! I've tried generic Mylan estradiol patches, the Minivelle patches, and both I had to increase and increase because the doses never got my levels up, even at the highest dose. Finally went to a new doc and am on implanted SottoPelle pellets, and it's been wonderful. All my symptoms are gone, and I only have to get new pellets once every 4-6 months. The patches are a waste of time. If you go out in the sun or in a hot tub, the patches release a huge dose of the estradiol due to heat, then you are stuck with low hormones again before it's time to change the patch. It's a constant see-saw effect on your body, which can make you feel horrible. Patches are an ineffective way to keep estrogen at a steady level."

For Postmenopausal Symptoms "Vivelle Dot worked for me for hot flashes, headaches, and general crankiness, but the cost! $144 a month is considerable and annoying, given what it's made of. BTW, these coupon ads do not reflect reality, in that I have taken them to all the pharmacies listed by them, and not once were they worth more than $3.00, and most of the time, nothing at all. I did try Minneville and Estrodal patches, and neither one did a thing for my symptoms, and every time the pharmacist would tell it, 'it's the same thing.' Quite obviously, the generic is not the same thing."

For Oophorectomy "I did great on the previous estradiol patch! This one almost cost me my job! Angry, crying fits, hot flashes, not to mention the stiffness and itching from the patch! I'm so glad to see others have had the same issues! I want my old patches back!!!"

For Oophorectomy "I was started on an estradiol patch after my hysterectomy. It was working well, and most of my symptoms had disappeared. My insurance made me switch pharmacies, and I was then given the Mylan estradiol patch. I had nothing but problems with it. It would not stick, and my symptoms started returning. I then started having a reaction to the patch. I would get large red welts (hives) where the patch was placed, and they would itch terribly. This is an allergic reaction, not a 'common side effect' like they list it as. I ended up switching to pills that don't seem to work as well as the original patch that I was started on."

For Postmenopausal Symptoms "Was on the 2x-weekly .025 Mylan Estradiol patch for the past two years. Worked fine and was a small, clear plastic rectangle. Now my insurance will only pay for the 1x-weekly version, which is 4x the size, skin tone only if you are lily white (racist), a huge, embarrassing disk of what appears to be styrofoam that doesn't stick for the full week (unless I don't shower, swim, or sweat), that is so big it either sticks out from my underwear or is under the waistband of my jeans. Obviously, it is a man who is the product manager who invented this disaster."

"For years I used Minniville, great product, no problems. Never had one fall off, ever. Price is outrageous now. Started Mylan Estradiol patch and I don't know if they work, they have never stayed on longer than a day. Been on them 4 weeks. I'm going to the doctor to get another prescription of anything else but this rip-off."

For Postmenopausal Symptoms "The Alvogen generic and Climara are the only ones that are good. Others give the product a bad name. If you don't want to get osteoporosis in your 60s and wish to support your skin, fat distribution, and general health, you likely should take a low dose of estradiol as your periods become further apart or cease."

For Postmenopausal Symptoms "This patch had to be designed by a man. What woman would design a patch the size of a softball? I had to duct tape it on in order for it to stay on, it is not flexible (it would not even bend in half), and what woman wants to have a big round patch showing through her clothes? You can't swim with it on or even shower because it will come off. It is hideous and degrading. Why should a woman have to be punished for something that is beyond their control? I cannot say if it works or not, due to the fact that I could never get it to stay on. I took one to my doctor and asked her how I was supposed to keep it on. She was shocked at what it looked like and put me on the pill due to the insurance company."

For Oophorectomy "I used Climara for over six years after my hysterectomy/oophorectomy. I routinely applied Tegaderm over the patch each week to aid in adhesion, as the patch often had tiny amounts of glue on the outer edges. When insurance no longer covered Climara, I was switched to Mylan. It was a very large foam-backed circle that simply did not adhere for more than one day. The pharmacist recommended a twice-weekly system by Sandoz - it is great! About 1/3 the size of the Climara patch, its adhesion is so effective I don’t need the Tegaderm anymore! On one occasion it was not in stock and they substituted the twice-weekly dot (even smaller and equally adhesive!) by Grove Pharmaceuticals. I like both! I am on 0.1mg, and am talking with my doctor about starting to titrate off this fall."

For Postmenopausal Symptoms "I have used a patch for over 30 years with no issues. Recently, when I had my prescription refilled, I was given the Mylan patch. Absolutely the worst results imaginable. The patch will not stay on. I am not getting the medicine that I need. Suffering from hot flashes, headaches, irritability, etc. Cannot get another prescription filled because I can't afford to pay out of pocket, and insurance won't pay for another three months. How this is on the market is a puzzle to me. So very frustrated. Wish I could give it a zero."

For Oophorectomy "I was on the Alvagen patch. Worked like a charm. This past week, my plan/pharmacist switched me to the mongo, tangerine-sized Mylan Estradiol patch. Mylan? All other dysfunctional aspects aside... who would want to wear that thick, monster patch on their skin all day? As it turns out, I'm also really allergic to whatever material gives the Mylan patch such bulk and heft. My skin flared within a day -- and the red, itchy rash lasted a full week, even after I pulled that sucker off. And I reckon that this didn't do much to deliver my estrogen fix, either... Earlier reviewers pointed out that clearly a dude must have devised the Mylan patch, and I can't disagree. A flaming misogynist, I suspect. :) Avoid."

For Oophorectomy "Been on Mylan Estradiol transdermal 0.1 mg for 4 months. Apparently, it's the generic version of Vivelle Dot. Well, it's been great in handling the symptoms of surgical menopause. No headaches or migraines, no more brain fog, lots of energy. However, I have gained weight, have trouble sleeping (never had that issue in my life!), and feel like scratching my skin off everywhere I affix the patch. No matter how dry my skin is, this large, thick, ugly patch has trouble sticking, and moisture always gets under it. I end up with an angry, itchy red ring that lasts for a week after it's gone. So I'm switching to name brand Vivelle Dot. I hope to get the same benefits with a smaller, less ugly patch, and hope it resolves the irritation!"

For Postmenopausal Symptoms "I have been using the Mylan Estradiol patch for over a year now. I don't quite understand the thing with the adhesive and it coming off. I've never had that problem. I started putting it on after my showers on my abdomen below my belly button but found that it works best for me to put it on my upper butt area. One thing I can say is it has never come off. It has worked well for my night sweats, which were unbearable."

For Postmenopausal Symptoms "Because of a complete hysterectomy about 20 years ago, I have been all over the board with HRT. The implant twice a year worked well, but now on a transdermal system patch. Went from Vivelle to Mylan because of insurance. Mylan was fine. Yesterday, the pharmacy filled the Rx with the Sandoz brand, which I haven't used yet. I can only say that every gynecologist I have been to has said I will most likely need HRT for the rest of my life. I am healthy and feel that the HRT has been invaluable. My history includes ovarian cancer, ectopic pregnancy, and very painful periods."

For Postmenopausal Symptoms "The Alvogen Estradiol patches are garbage. They never stay stuck to your skin. For the fourth time, I just applied a patch last night, and today it came off. It did not even make it through 24 hours. If they do happen to stay on for the full week, they get filthy and are itchy. The Minivelle patch was great. Small, twice a week, stayed clean, and stayed on. My insurance stopped covering Minivelle. A weekly patch is no good for anybody if it doesn't stay on for the full week. I only get four in a box - for the month! Now I have to wait until next week to apply another patch."

For Postmenopausal Symptoms "These are horrible, and at the drug store, I heard another woman complain. I tried them years ago, and they were bigger and worse. They cost a fortune, and they fall off within a couple of days. They are big and thick, and the whole time they are on, they itch. For a month's worth, you are lucky if you get a week's worth of meds. There is a big difference between this and the original brand (which is good). They should be illegal."

For Postmenopausal Symptoms "I have been using the Estradiol patch, generic for many years by Mylan, and it has worked fine. My pharmacist recently changed to Grove Pharmaceuticals, and it is awful. They don't work, and they don't stick well. Hot flashes are every 10 minutes, and disrupted sleep. I called the pharmacist and requested a special order to go back to the Mylan brand."

For Postmenopausal Symptoms "I just started my patch a few days ago. I'm hoping it will help these postmenopausal symptoms, which for me includes burning mouth syndrome. Has anyone else had the condition, and did Estradiol help ease the dry mouth/pain? I can't really rate the med until it kicks in."

For Postmenopausal Symptoms "The Mylan patch is horrible. Doesn’t stay on. Secured it with Tegaderm and ended up with major skin irritation. Switched to Sandoz. No skin irritation, and it also falls off, not as fast as Mylan though. Pharmacist thankfully overrides the refill date as I run out way sooner because they fall off. He recently called my provider and got them to switch to the twice weekly Sandoz patches, so at least now I can usually make it 2-3 days without it falling off except when I go in my hot tub (often) or run/workout and sweat heavily. Ugh! Thinking I may need to try a different route before summer and also need the dose increased because my symptoms are slowly returning. I really had to fight to get this medication despite having horrible debilitating symptoms for almost three years! Has made a HUGE improvement in my quality of life!"

"I have used Sandoz 0.075 mg estradiol patch for many years. I just feel normal, and my bones are strong. I use rubbing alcohol on my very soft skin before applying the weekly patch. And I rub the patch for a full 60 seconds to make it stick for a whole week. There is 5.7 mg of estradiol in the patch, which allows you to absorb approximately 0.075 mg for the 7 days. I have tried other patches, like Mylan, which has giant lettering 0.075 on it but contains ONLY hemi-hydrate equivalent to 2.91 mg of estradiol. I began very heavy bleeding on Mylan, read the standard print on your product labels. FDA allows generics to be 1/5 LESS or more (haven't seen more) of the active ingredient in your generic product. Now that it is a generic, I pay the full price for Sandoz. FYI ladies, you should not use lotions on spots you intend to put a patch on, or it cannot stick. LOVE the Sandoz patch!"

For Hypoestrogenism "I’m 9 years post-hysterectomy. I started out with Vivelle Dot, then changed to Minivelle Dot when it came out. Never had any trouble. Insurance change last year (2018). Since there’s now a generic for Minivelle, I can pay $15 for Mylan or pay a penalty for the brand name and pay $188 for Minivelle. With a coupon, $135. I’ve tried to deal with all the problems with the Mylan patches for a YEAR! They do NOT deliver the same amount of estradiol as Minivelle. I’ve gained 20 lbs and have gotten horrible wrinkles. I firmly believe it’s the patch and lack of estrogen. Patches fall off, which is irritating. I still have hot flashes and night sweats. My endocrinologist even did an estrogen level test, and it was lower than in 2017 when on Minivelle. If my gyno will request Minivelle, my insurance will allow it and not charge a penalty. With a coupon, it should be about $40. I’m hoping!!!"
