For Irritable Bowel Syndrome with Diarrhea "I am a 23-year-old female who has been struggling with IBS-D for about 2 years. The condition ruined my life, affecting work, college, my everyday life. On my hour-and-a-half commute to work on the subway, I would nearly lose control of my bowels as the diarrhea was just so bad. Every morning was terrifying. Viberzi has helped so much. Taking 100 mg twice a day caused too much constipation. My doctor prescribed me the 75 mg and told me to titrate it according to my needs. Currently, I take 75 mg before bed and 75 mg in the mornings if needed. I skip the doses on the weekends (I am not as active) in order to prevent constipation. I am rating Viberzi a 9 out of 10 because it can occasionally cause constipation, and though it claims to have a pain-relief component, I have not felt that at all. Remember that for every 10 patients who try Viberzi, only 1 patient will feel some relief from symptoms."

For Irritable Bowel Syndrome with Diarrhea "I agree re: antibiotics - messes with Viberzi. In my mind, if the body gets food poisoning or an infection, then Viberzi can’t stop the body from flushing, so there are times I had to come off, then slowly resume. On ANY kind of antibiotic, this is the case too. I will have perfect BM twice a day for 2 weeks, then it always seems like - after that 1st 1.5 years, I get irritation or constipation. I've found two things that seem to rest my body. Just two days of Flagyl & taking the new probiotic Visbiome, I use 1/2 packet in 8 oz water twice a day & helps to reset my bowels. As I start to resume 'normal' or stereotypical IBS-D, I can resume the Viberzi. I've tried not resuming, but when all is said & done, it is the only thing that works."

For Irritable Bowel Syndrome with Diarrhea "Ok, I have been taking Viberzi for 3 days. I’ve been living with the worst IBS with diarrhea you could imagine for 30 years. I am so thankful for this drug. It’s like a miracle, and I know you people suffering from IBS feel the same. Had some constipation, hoping that will stop. But to not have this for 3 days was like a treat for me. Taking 100 mg twice a day."

For Irritable Bowel Syndrome with Diarrhea "If you just have chronic diarrhea, this is probably not the right drug for you. Just take some Imodium and walk it off. Viberzi is for extremely painful cramps associated with chronic diarrhea, or if you have cramps that are even more painful if you take Imodium to solve the diarrhea. If that is your case, then this stuff is a miracle drug! It is basically an opioid that they removed the pain-killing effects from and left the side effects of constipation that opioids cause. But it is VERY EXPENSIVE! Honestly, 15 mg of 12-hour morphine ER 2 times a day works just as well. But good luck getting a doc to prescribe that."

For Irritable Bowel Syndrome with Diarrhea "I started on Viberzi 100 mg for IBS-D, it worked a little too well, and I got constipated. I cut back to 1/2 a tablet one time a day with dinner. That was my sweet spot. Fast forward 4 months, I noticed I needed a little more to get the same effects. I began taking a full tablet with dinner each day. Now, 8 months since starting, my stomach is going backwards again. I've tried the 2x a day with no luck. I was so happy with this med. It gave me my life back for a while, and I didn't call out of work as often. Overall, this med works but not in the long term, which is heartbreaking. I'll add I do have my gallbladder, and I didn't have any side effects during the time I was taking it."
