Eletriptan for Migraine "I have taken Relpax 3-4 times, and strangely enough, I have had extremely vivid nightmares. This is very unusual for me because I'm not the type to have nightmares. Normally, I might have one per year, and suddenly, as I have taken this medication, I've had nightmares each night that I have taken the medication. I think it's not a coincidence since this has already occurred 3-4 times in less than 2 weeks."

Eletriptan for Migraine "Replax (Eletriptan) is the best triptan for migraine I have used, and I have used them all. It gets rid of a migraine within about 1 to 2 hours, especially if I eat after I have taken it. I do seem to get a lot of recurrence with this drug, but that is the same for all triptans, and I get a lot of migraines as a chronic sufferer. Great short-term results with Replax, but side effects are very strong sleepiness, as in I must lie down and sleep off the medication to be able to function, however, often a short nap will suffice. It does affect my ability to work, but not as much as a migraine. I get 12 tablets a month on the NHS for free, which is great, and use a VNS (vagal nerve stimulation) device as a preventative, which is slowly helping reduce my frequency. Eletriptan is not often used in the UK due to the side effects of sleepiness. My neurologist advises it tends only to be used and tolerated by more severe migraine sufferers. However, regardless of those drawbacks, it is worth trying as it does shift a severe migraine."

Eletriptan for Migraine "I've had migraines for the last 10 years. Relpax is the 2nd prescription I've tried. Two hours after the 1st dose, my migraine was no longer in the usual cluster location, my entire brain was ready to explode. As directed, I took the 2nd dose. After 8 hours, I finally felt better in that I could function again. 24 hours later, I'm still 'foggy,' sleepy, and have had several rebound headaches. I will not take this drug again."

Eletriptan for Migraine "The doctor recommended this over codeine (which worked for my migraines). I had absolutely the worst experience. Within 20 minutes, tightness of my head, jaw, and throat. Severe heart palpitations, sweating, and agitation. I felt like I was either going to throw up or pass out and couldn’t sit up. I also felt heavy in the head. These feelings lasted for 3 hours. Never again will I take this medication."

Eletriptan for Migraine "Relpax has changed my life! I have suffered with migraines for years. I know they are usually hormone-related. Relpax is like a miracle, most days I can take it as soon as my headache starts, and within the hour I am pain-free. Relpax recently saved my Disney vacation!"

Eletriptan for Migraine "So I've just recently started suffering migraines due to stress tension in upper traps, which doesn't help, and hormonal. I'm 31, and I have never had migraines like this. I tried bupap for my tension headaches, and after taking them, it made it 10 times worse to the point it would turn into a horrific migraine. My doctor suggested Relpax. I took it for the first time today as I felt symptoms come on this morning. I thought it was more tension, so I thought I would give bupap another try. Forty-five minutes later, the throb started coming on. So I called the pharmacist, and he gave me the okay to take Relpax. Thirty minutes later, I am pain free! I can't believe it. Will update on side effects. So far, so good!"

Eletriptan for Migraine "I'm glad it works for most people - it most definitely did not work for me. My doctor warned me about feeling tingly, but that wasn't all - I took it at night like I used to do with Imitrex. My migraine had progressed to the point of not being able to function, nausea - the usual. I woke up and felt groggy, probably shouldn't have gone into work and drive my kids to school, but the pain was done. It was a good 12 hours since I had taken the medication, so I figured I was OK. Boy, was I wrong. I could not function, my brain was dead, BUT the worst part was the uncontrollable sobbing. I was crying for no apparent reason for HOURS - the whole day! I had to leave work and have my mom pick up my kids and take care of me - nausea lasted all day too. NOPE!"

Eletriptan for Migraine "This is the best migraine medication for me. I feel these are very different for each individual. But this has been the most successful at completely aborting my migraines most of the time. With other types, I have had to take a repeat dose to get the results needed to continue a normal day."

Eletriptan for Migraine "I took Relpax today for the second time, took it once before. It has given me no relief whatsoever, and I'm experiencing the same side effects as the first time I took it. Before you wonder why I would take it a second time, I thought perhaps I had just been in so much pain before I would give it another go. I have severe back pain, numbness and tingling in my fingers, and ringing in my ears. Also, the migraine seems to have gotten worse. Now my eye has so much pressure, it feels like it's bugging out of my face. I will NEVER take this drug again."

For Migraine "I’ve suffered from hormonal migraines since going off the pill 7 years ago. I was first put on sumatriptan, but the max daily dose only worked most of the time and stopped working altogether about a year into taking it. My doctor switched me to eletriptan, and I’ve been on it for a year, and it’s still working. It stops my migraine within an hour, and it usually stays away with one 40 mg dose. Once, I had to take it again after 24 hours, but it stayed away after that. It’s seriously been such a lifesaver, and I hope it never stops working for me. The only reason I gave it a 9/10 instead of a 10/10 is because it does make me drowsy, and the packaging is really hard to get into. I can’t for the life of me understand why the packaging is the way it is, but it’s extremely irritating. The drowsiness isn’t too bad, but I’m noticeably tired about two hours after taking it and usually have to go to bed extra early that night. Small price to pay for such great pain relief, though."

Eletriptan for Migraine "I’ve been taking Relpax for about 10 years now, and I can honestly say I cannot live without it! It takes away my migraine and all my symptoms within the hour. I tried other medications that didn’t work and made me worse. Generic brands also did not work for me. I would recommend it to anyone. The only side effect I get sometimes is that it can make me a little tired, but I can handle that over a migraine any day."

For Migraine "Packaging is as important as the effect of eletriptan! I was stuck with the generic brand of Relpax by GREENSTONE/NEVER AGAIN! Obviously, they do NOT test their own packaging. WORST packaging on the market. The blister card is made of HEAVY card stock, impossible to tear apart. Then the worst is the thin foil backing you need to 'pick' to start to 'peel' off to get to the pill. Out of THREE cards/18 blister packs, ONE peeled off. Now try this with a full migraine/use your strength to tear apart. You pick off the foil only to have it glued down tight so it does not peel. You must carry a knife or scissors or an exacto tool to get the pill out. All the while, you are blind, vomiting, exhausted, and maybe bleeding from your nose! NOT GREENSTONE GENERIC RELPAX!"

Eletriptan for Migraine "I've had migraines since I was a teenager (now in my 60s), and this is the best treatment I've ever been prescribed. My migraine starts with pins and needles in my lips, tongue, and occasionally ends of my fingers, followed by flashing lights, which seem to be triggered by bright light, sunshine flickering behind trees, sun on snow, etc. If I take a Relpax within 10 minutes of symptoms, the migraine doesn't progress to nausea, violent headache, and loss of speech - as used to be the case. My GP in France prescribes these for me, and 1 packet now seems to last me between 6 and 9 months. Absolutely brilliant."

Eletriptan for Migraine "Have been afflicted with migraines for about 7 years now. Tried several medicines, including the prophylactics, with varying degrees of success and side effects. Relpax gives me my life back most of the time versus a 3-day nightmare of pain. It does numb my face a little and make me woozy, but that's well worth it for me. It's so effective for my migraines, which definitely seem to be weather-related and not food-related."

For Migraine "My insurance now makes me take the generic, eletriptan, with only 6 tablets a month. The first time I had to use the generic, I was sicker than I have ever been. It was like I was never on medicine. I vomited twice, lost all my equilibrium, couldn't eat. Had to call out of work. Now I have to be a guinea pig again to find something that works for my migraines. I get sinus, cluster, and tension migraines. Not looking forward to this."

For Migraine "I was getting migraines up to 4 times a week, and the doctor prescribed this drug, eletriptan, to me. I have since found out that dairy was a big trigger for my migraines, and when I cut that out, my migraines went from 4 a week to maybe once a month. When I have a bad migraine, I take one, and within an hour, my migraine is gone. I have no side effects from the medication."

For Migraine "The pharmacy started filling my Relpax with the new generic. I was optimistic as the brand name has been a wonder drug for me for years and is seriously the only thing that brings me relief. Not only did it NOT work, it made me feel worse. And don't get me started on the ridiculous packaging - why would a company require people to need scissors to cut the medication out?! My doc and I are now having to do battle with my insurance company to start paying for the only thing that will work for me. It shouldn't be this hard."

Eletriptan for Migraine "Relpax has been a wonder drug for me. Other than having to wait an hour for it to kick in, I've had no side effects at all. The only worry I have is the neurologist told me that it can stop working if you use it too often."

Eletriptan for Migraine "I tried a few 'triptans.' Relpax is not the strongest one, it may take an hour before it starts to work, especially if I wait too long, hoping for the migraine to go away by itself (sometimes miracles do happen). For comparison, Imitrex works much faster for me but almost immediately sends me into a deep sleep. Relpax has minimum side effects: maybe some drowsiness and heaviness in my legs, but I can still work if necessary. For a long time, I was on Maxalt, it was less effective in relieving the pain but caused more side effects, like drowsiness and severe cramps."

Eletriptan for Migraine "I've been fighting migraines for 22 years, out of which I've been taking Relpax (40 mg) for approximately 15 years to alleviate the pain, nausea, etc. It takes me about an hour to work fully, and I usually take it with some small portion of chocolate or something sweet. It works even a bit better, at least; this is my experience. There are some side effects, of course, such as feeling 'a bit strange,' heavy legs, etc., but they usually fade away in 5 to 6 hours. Lately, I have frequent (almost daily) migraines (also related to menopause), and I take them a bit too much. I also tried two drugs as prophylaxis and some other triptans, but they didn't work as well as Relpax."

For Migraine "I agree with all the Relpax lovers! It’s the only thing that works. I’ve tried the generic from Teva, which did absolutely nothing. It’s getting very tough to find Relpax, especially with the recent recall of 2 lot numbers. My last 2 boxes were the bad lots, so they had to be returned. I hope Pfizer gets things back on track very soon. I only had 4 pills left and called every pharmacy in my little city, but they only had generics. My daughter in the northern Virginia area finally found a pharmacy with 6 tablets! She FedExed them to me. I should be good for the next month and a half, but am worried after that."

For Migraine "Saved my life and career. I take Relpax at least twice a week and wouldn't be able to hold down a job without it. It's the only thing that works consistently. Side effects include a short nausea phase, sometimes joint and ear pain, sleepiness, and the need to pee. It also seems to make me more emotional/teary than usual. The side effects seem worse, the longer I leave it before taking medication. It's hard to know how many of these things are actually the Relpax and how many are the migraine itself. The relief and consistent performance are well worth the side effects for me. I just wish it came in larger packets (only 4 per packet) and wasn't so difficult to get. Also, I wish they'd score their 80 mg tablets so we could halve them when the 40 mg aren't available."

For Migraine "I find this medication, eletriptan, to be quite helpful when I do get a migraine. I usually have to take the day off work or part of the day, though. It's hard to do much but sleep for the first couple of hours after you take it, and the side effects really suck. I experience tightness in my jaw as well as my neck and shoulders, and it makes me quite dizzy. It does a good job of getting rid of the migraine, and it's better than most migraine medications I have tried."

Eletriptan for Migraine "I have suffered from migraines for many years. Over the years I have had many tests done and taken numerous medications for any kind of relief from the pain. The one and only thing I have found to help me so far has been Relpax. While it is expensive, even with a co-pay, I would pay any amount of money for this drug. In fact, I normally cut my 40 mg tablet in half, and usually this is still enough to knock out my migraine pain and nausea within 2 hours. In my opinion, this is a miracle drug."
