"After only three days on this drug, I had the most embarrassing event. Luckily at home, I messed myself, so upset. I have had IBS in the past, which is managed very well with diet, but this was something else. Pills going in the bin."

"I was given this recently to try as an alternative to amitriptyline, and rather than increase the pain patch too. I must say I've only had one tablet, and the one tablet that I did have knocked me for six. Now, I'm pretty good with pain meds, I've had that many different ones my body has built up a tolerance. But this was horrible. Within 45 minutes of taking it, I felt horrendous. I started seeing double, could hardly get out of the chair, I felt so heavy. Had to try to take myself to bed to sleep it off. Needless to say, I got about two hours of sleep before my back was throbbing and numerous other side effects took place. It's only now, what... three days later, I can stand up for more than five minutes and not want to either rush to the toilet or pass out. I'm not willing to go through that again to give it a longer try. I'd rather have morning sickness again, and that was bad. Fair play if it works for some people, but this definitely isn't one for me."

"At first, duloxetine was a godsend, all pain went, and I could get back to work and be normal again. It did have a side effect for me that I couldn't stay asleep, so I was prescribed amitriptyline. I noticed a definite decrease in libido to the point where I had no sexual thoughts at all. I was made aware that I had started to withdraw from social situations and friends and could see no reason why this was the case. After reading reviews, I realize I am not the only person affected this way. I am coming off them but having problems, too many to mention. I am now almost 8 months down the line, I seem to be pain-free and haven't taken a tablet for over 10 days. I don't feel back to normal yet but feel a bit better, but feel as though there is a way to go yet. Do your research - do not take this medication unless all else has failed. I will definitely source other options if/when my back issues return."

"I was prescribed 30 mg of Duloxetine for chronic arthritic pain and low mood. As advised, I took one dose with an evening meal. I woke at 2 am feeling extremely nauseous, with stomach cramps and such an intense headache that I could not lie down. My symptoms continued throughout the night. I chose not to take a second dose as my symptoms worsened - I could not eat, could only drink water, felt exhausted yet suffered disturbed sleep. After 4 days, I felt slightly better but still very unwell. This drug should be taken off the market as the side effects make it impossible to function as a normal human being. AVOID AT ALL COSTS."

Duloxetine "I've suffered from SI pain for years. I've been on 300 mg of Tramadol (daily), plus regular lower back injections. All of these treatments have a minimal effect on my pain. My doctor started me on 30 mg Cymbalta daily. I'm on day 30. I am experiencing a lot of itching, insomnia, and nausea. I wish these things would go away because this medicine combined with the Tramadol is helping the pain. I am now terrified of ever getting off this drug after reading reviews about withdrawal."

"Had one tablet last night and was really ill for most of the night. It was the 20 mg low strength. I'm a cardiac arrest survivor, and the palpitations were frightening. This is not a drug to suit everyone."

"Horrible experience. I took 3 duloxetine doses over 3 days and felt so sick that it wasn't worth waiting the 2-4 weeks it takes for any purported neurological benefits to ensue. I was prescribed this only for back pain, not depression. I stopped taking the medication on the 4th day. The first side effect I experienced, and this was within just a few hours, was a bad headache. That was followed by a constant general feeling of malaise, nausea, dizziness, and zoned out to the point I was staring at the walls. On the 4th day, I felt so sick that I was near tears and had to remove myself from this medication."

"I was prescribed Duloxetine 30 mg and was on it for over a month. I felt spaced out, my vision became blurry. I was withdrawn, felt empty, disassociated from friends, did not feel at all like the outgoing person I am. I was taking it for chronic lower back pain. For my back and nerve pain, I noticed a slight improvement in pain tolerance, however, from the side effects, it’s not worth it. I was also at one point prescribed Lyrica - this drug is the worst. I couldn’t understand why I was feeling so sleepy at work, and I had to drive to get to work, and they prescribe this rubbish... I took myself off Duloxetine, along with all the other pills prescribed."

"Recommended by doctor at 30 mg per day. While my sciatic pain was reduced almost immediately, the side effects were not worth it. Extremely fatigued, dizzy, loss of appetite, no desire to do normal daily activities. Effects vary for everyone different from reviews, but for me, the cons outweighed the rewards."

"I've been taking 60 mg for 2 years for back pain and anxiety. I've been happy with the results for the most part. Recently, I visited an ear, nose, and throat specialist because my hearing has been a little bad. I found I had sudden hearing loss in my right ear. Well, I have perfect hearing in the left. None in the right. The doctor said it was strange. But, as we know, they are doctors of medicine for a reason. They believe in it. Well, I've decided to come off and have reduced it to 30 mg for the last month, and that is a tough ordeal. I would say that the result was like a miracle, but I'm afraid that the hearing loss could be related, and I'm very concerned. It isn't easy to quit either."

Duloxetine "My grandmother was suffering from back pain for many years. One of my colleagues suggested taking treatment from the Delhi Pain Management Center. After that, we visited over there. The back pain specialist treated her very carefully. Within 10-15 days, my grandmother got rid of the pain."

"I've had sciatica pain for approximately 2 years now and have tried many things, including doctor's instructions to diet and lose weight (lost 20 lbs to date). I've tried to exercise, but I can barely walk into the gym. I've been prescribed various drugs, including Hydrocodone/Acetaminophen, Celecoxib (Celebrex), Tramadol, Meloxicam, and Gabapentin. Then, a couple of weeks ago, I took an international flight and the pain was so bad when we landed that I couldn't walk to baggage claim. I had to go to urgent care to get some more painkillers, a muscle relaxer, and a shot of acetaminophen just to fly back. I immediately made an appointment with the clinic I had been going to, but a new doctor saw me...thank goodness! She asked why I was prescribed the various medications and what worked. I said the only thing that came close to alleviating the pain was the Hydrocodone/Acetaminophen mix. She suggested I try Duloxetine (yesterday) and I'll be damned, no sciatica pain today!"

"I have been on this for over a month. Immediately I was sick with nausea for 3 days, no food, and ever since, my urine has smelled foul and metallic. That is why I came on here, wondering if anyone has had the same problem. Once I doubled my dosage, my sex drive went up like crazy. I'm female, by the way. I had a mind-blowing migraine, and I got the shakes really bad. One night, I woke up shaking, my head hurting. I couldn't stay awake, I was dizzy, faint, shaking. 911 was called, and I lost a couple of days as I felt like I was going to die. But my day-to-day life overall was better. I feel like it's overall helping, and I've just had some hiccups along the way."

"I was given this med in 30, 60, 90 mg. Did not work, had me crazy. Treating sciatica, spinal stenosis pain. After PT, I had acupuncture. Needles do not hurt, pain is clearing up. Try it. It is worth it. Get off that duloxetine. I use Tylenol Extra Strength with the treatments. My insurance pays. Ask for a referral or search on your own. Smart move for me."
