"Prescribed Cymbalta for migraines. Been on 18 days. Started at 20 mg, last 5 days at 40 mg. Past week has been daily diarrhea. I am tired, still have headaches, I am constantly nauseated, have no appetite, and my anxiety level has increased. They tell me to hold on, this will pass. It does not feel like it is going to help at all, and my insurance company really gave me a hard time covering this."

For Chronic Pain "Medical issues: chronic, back, muscle, joint, anxiety, PTSD, and mild depression. I was on tramadol for 12 years. I was assaulted and strangled in May 2020, which left me with the feeling of losing myself. The doctor put me on klonopin, which semi-worked. I went back and told him I didn't feel 'complete.' He put me on Cymbalta. Getting off of it sucked. The first week I had problems sleeping. I also felt a sense of euphoria at first, relaxed like nothing in the world would bother me. I still have a loss of appetite since starting Cymbalta and weight loss. I don't get nearly as much deep sleep as I used to. I wake up randomly at 3 or 4 in the morning. Four weeks in, this has helped my mood so much, I'm on a level playing field now as far as anxiety goes. So far, it's been a godsend for my mental health and physically I wish for less pain, but it's better. I've noticed a difference with standing longer and less tossing and turning."

For Anxiety "I have just started week 2 on Cymbalta. I was on Lexapro for 3 years and tapered off. After 1 year, my anxiety attacks started to return. It got so bad that my periods skipped or stopped altogether due to stress. I was crying off and on all day and was paranoid from sunup to sundown. Cymbalta has already started making minor changes in my life for the better. The first few nights, I suffered horrendous panic attacks, excessive sweating, and ice-in-my-veins sensations. (That also happened when I started Lexapro years ago.) I can say that most side effects have subsided, with the exception of low appetite. I am focusing at work, I feel lighter and happier, and have not experienced an anxiety attack since starting the medication. I feel better than I have in almost a year and look forward to this new journey. Thank you, science!"

For Depression "On this medicine for 5 days and have been on the couch for 4 days. Very lethargic, lazy, no energy to do anything, loss of appetite, nausea, can't sleep at night, just not myself at all. Missed 2 parties I was previously excited to go to, stayed home instead."

For Depression "I have been on Cymbalta for depression for 3 weeks now. I have had a wide range of side effects: sleeplessness, stomach cramps, loss of appetite, sweating, nausea, a constant bad taste in my mouth, and a total loss of libido. I spoke to my doctor about this, and he said it may take a few weeks to really kick in. I hope it hurries up. I had been on other antidepressants a few years ago with no side effects. After 2 days, I feel the medicine has lifted me slightly, but not as much as I would have hoped."

For Anxiety "I was prescribed Cymbalta for my anxiety. I suffer from migraines and paroxysmal hypertension, which have been debilitating. I really wanted Cymbalta to work, however, it made my hypertension episodes much worse, and I could not take it after the fifth dose. I also suffered from new onset night sweats, nausea, decreased appetite, dizziness, constipation, and increased anxiety and agitation. I’m sure that it has helped many people, however, the side effects for me were too severe to continue. It’s possible I could’ve continued if I did not have to work, but I have a full-time job. I will be trying another anxiety medication, perhaps an SSRI. I just think that my body cannot handle the SNRI. Everyone is different. My mom takes Cymbalta, and she had no side effects whatsoever, and it works wonderfully for her. My mom suffers from migraines and fibromyalgia. I hope this helps somebody."

For Anxiety "I am taking 60 mg of Cymbalta for anxiety and depression. Previously, I had been on Lexapro (which gave me nightmares) and Paxil, which worked for a time but sent me into a relapse when I was weaned off of it. I have noticed a few side effects - the most predominant one is that it makes me very tired. I don't have much of an appetite, but when I do, I crave sweets and have put on a few pounds as a result. Very little sex drive, though it was low to begin with. Although the medication has helped to keep my anxiety at a manageable level, my general mood has been very blank - I feel very little in the way of happiness or sadness. My doctor has suggested either switching to a higher dose (120 mg) of Cymbalta or changing to Zoloft or Paxil."

For Depression "I took Cymbalta for about 3-4 months. I had major side effects. I tried taking it at night, but I couldn't sleep. Switched to the mornings, and I also had tingling all over, sexual side effects, worsened my suicidal thoughts. The only good thing about it is I totally had no appetite whatsoever. I lost 15 lbs. I have since quit taking Cymbalta."

For Depression "Went on 60 mg Cymbalta. Was amazingly good for about a year. Minimal side effects except for some reduction in appetite, which was a bit of a problem and caused tiredness at work. It got my life back for me for a while at a time when I thought only of death. I began socializing and getting into hobbies, etc. I then had to work on issues I had created while in depression, such as drinking. At about 1 year, however, some strange effects started occurring. I would, for about a week per month, become fearful and could not leave the house. Eventually went to a psychiatrist who suggested stopping cold turkey. That was okay, no problems."

For Generalized Anxiety Disorder "Only took one capsule and had the worst reaction of my life. After half an hour, started to hallucinate and couldn't feel my arms or legs. Felt like I was glued to the bed while seeing things that weren't there. Was in and out of consciousness and woke up in the middle of the night being violently sick. Had to go to A&E, where they gave me an injection to stop me from throwing up. For the next three days, I had no appetite and slept almost constantly. I took the pill on Saturday and didn't feel normal again until Tuesday. I still don't remember how I got back from the hospital. Phoned the doctor on the Wednesday, and he said it was something to do with too much serotonin. It seems like people either respond well to it or become very sick. But overall, it didn't suit me, so wouldn't recommend."

For Anxiety "I have been on Cymbalta for one month for relentless anxiety and depression, after trying Paxil, Wellbutrin, Prozac, and many others I cannot even remember the names of. There has been a loss of appetite for a few weeks, but it has mostly gone away. It caused panic in the beginning, but Ativan helped a little with that. After a week, I felt really good (20 mg) and have been up and down ever since. It has helped a lot, but so far it is not the answer."
