Slynd (drospirenone) "I started this at 40yrs old to help with PMDD, painful periods and heavy bleeding. The first 4 months was rough because of the bleeding but then stopped around month 5 and so glad I stuck it out. I’m on month 9 and my moods are so much better, more consistent, and I don’t have those horrible bad days anymore. I chose this over surgery and antidepressants for PMDD and so glad I did. My periods are very short and much lighter with some cramping randomly but not that bad. I was also able to stop taking spirolactone for my acne because this cleared my skin up. I thought I gained weight but I’m really the same size almost a year later so I think it was just my body adjusting. My advice is try it but give it at least 4-5 months."

Slynd (drospirenone) "I have been on this birth control for over a year and 3 months now and I absolutely love it. I suffer from endometriosis and have always had extremely bad cramps and long period. Ever since being put this my migraines, cramps, and even my periods have completely gone away. I would recommend this birth control to every young women who suffers constantly from their period symptoms."

Slynd (drospirenone) "I started this medicine to help lighten my periods. I started bleeding the day I started the pill and have been bleeding since - 2 plus months now. I've gained weight and the mood swings/anger are off the charts. I would not recommend this to anyone. I'm done with it!"

Slynd (drospirenone) "Best birth control ever! I love not getting a period. I’ve only had 2 very light periods in the past year and a half. No side effects, no estrogen, and you have a large missed window time if you forget to take the pill. I hope this birth control is safe and will continue to be an option since I couldn’t imagine taking anything else. I’ve tried every form of birth control other than the IUD and this one is THE best!"

Slynd (drospirenone) "I have been on BC pills in the past, I have always felt super nauseous and literally felt pregnant. I just had a baby 4 months ago and my OB put me on SLYND right at my 6 week post partum checkup. I have PCOS and suspected endo as well. He said this shouldn't make me feel ill. The first month was good, except I had break through bleeding. I am now ending month 3 and going on BC permanently. My sex drive, which has always been extremely high, and never affected on other pills is literally at a 0! I am constantly bleeding, periods are SUPER horrible. I am nauseous every single morning that I wake up and headaches all day. I also feel super moody, tired, and my "always low" blood pressure seems to be on the rise. This just was not for me."

Slynd (drospirenone) "Slynd is my FOURTH go at birth control and without a doubt the best. I cannot take estrogen due to migraines with aura and I tried the implant, shots, and the only other progesterone only pill on the market before this one. All left me with heavy, unpredictable bleeding. I’ve been on it for 7 months (I started right when it became available) and my spotting has gotten consistently better every month (I have about 10 consecutive days of moderate bleeding per month). Slynd is my savior, you guys!"

Slynd (drospirenone) "I was prescribed Slynd for heavy periods as an alternative to the MiniPill - I could not tolerate the side effects of the mini pill - intense stomach cramping (digestive), and a weird fluttery feeling like nervous butterflies, I suppose due in part to anxiety, which is also a side effect of the mini pill. Slynd has reduced the stomach cramping and weird fluttery feeling by about 80 percent. Sometimes I feel it, but not as intensely. I feel a lot better. I was avoiding driving, avoiding being in crowds due to stomach cramps and always looking for an exit, a bathroom, etc. Slynd works much better for me than the MiniPill. I feel most days like I've gotten my life back."

Slynd (drospirenone) "I've been on progesterone-only for 4 years but suffered a lot of bleeding/spotting throughout the month, which ultimately would make me get off the pill after 6 months to a year & restart the process all over again. I've been on Slynd now for 7 months and it's absolutely the best! No more breakthrough bleeding (I did spot the first 3 months close to the inactive pills). However, now I no longer have a period. My skin is more on the dryer side (I used to have very oily skin), and I did break out more, but it calmed down after 3 months. I'm not on an emotional roller coaster anymore like I previously was too. Everyone is different and what works for me might not for you; however, I do recommend giving it a try!!"

Slynd (drospirenone) "I’m 47, no kids and have never been on BC. I wanted the copper IUD but to my uterus is too small I got he Slynd pills. I’ve had no side effects. I also suffer from anxiety/traumatic stress and this pill has not affected any of that! My BF and I are very sexually active and probably more care free then we should be so its definitely helping in preventing pregnancy. I started spotting 1 week after the 1st pack and have not stopped. I am about to start pack #3 and have also not had an actual period. The spotting is light. Pantyliners seem to work fine but I’m also comfortable with a regular size tampon when I go to the gym (only time I’ll use one) I have some bloating during the placebo pills but I have no real cramps now and they used to be extreme along with super heavy bleeding. I am going to continue with the pill in hopes that my body regulates after this 3rd pack. Overall other then the inconvenience of spotting I think it is worth trying. I will update once the spotting subsides."

Slynd (drospirenone) "I have been taking Slynd birth control pills for 4 months total, just starting my 5th. I used to have a regular 3 day period with severe cramps. I have had nonstop spotting since beginning this birth control. My cramps are gone, but I have been spotting for almost 30 days straight. It has been a nightmare from the start."

Slynd (drospirenone) "I have endometriosis and this pill was recommended to me because I was having a lot of breakthrough bleeding and spotting between periods and I also have a history of cysts. I’ve been on many pills throughout the years and this by far has been the worst experience. I would not recommend this to my worst enemy. I started bleeding immediately the first day I took it and never stopped for almost 2 months. The doctor said to give it 3 months for my body to adjust but I couldn’t do it. I gave up about 2 months in because I was also having headaches, bloating, anxiety, trouble sleeping, and severe mood changes. I did not feel like myself and was either crying for no reason or raging in anger with both, not like me. I stopped at the end of December and my periods have still been off. I bleed from mid-January to mid-February and now in March, I didn’t get my period at all. I suspect this is now my body re-adjusting from being off this pill so beware if you’re going to try it."

Slynd (drospirenone) "I started taking Slynd after Lo Loestrin caused me headaches and more frequency to urinate. After 2 weeks on Slynd I started getting palpitations, chest pain... I went to ER They said I am having an extra heart beat (pvc's) probably from the medication because I am very healthy. I do exercise every day, I don't take stimulants such as caffeine. I didn't do any different those 2 past weeks. Now I am waiting to see the cardiologist and having almost 24h a day this weird sensation on my chest."

Slynd (drospirenone) "I had no previous information regarding this Slynd birth control before I started taking it. I really wish I would have done some research before starting or that my doctor would have given me a heads up on what to expect. I am on my first pack of the Slynd. I have had steady bleeding for two weeks with lower back aches, cramping, and headaches. I am on this to try and help lessen my period cramps/pain due to a lot of fibroids in my uterus. As of now, I’m really struggling on if Slynd is worth it. Dr said to give it three months and then go from there. It feels so unnatural to be having a period for this long."

Slynd (drospirenone) "I would never recommend this to anyone. I have been taking this pill for 2 months and I feel horrible. I started my period on the 27th of July. Today is the 22nd of the next month. My period has almost been on for a month. I really would never have taken this pill if I knew all this bleeding was going to occur. I suffer from fibroids which had given me low iron. Messing with this pill I am pretty sure I will need another iron infusion."

Slynd (drospirenone) "My OB prescribed Slynd after I had my child in Oct. 2021 & due to my chronic HTN. I'm 39 w/ a history of adenomyosis, PCOS, anemia and now fibroids (as discovered w/ this pregnancy). I have had infertility issues; this was an IUI. I was reluctant to start it, but I sure didn't want any accidents. My insurance didn't cover it but a coupon covered it 100%. I finally started it the end of Dec. as I was abstaining and still no period. Now I am in my second week and have been bleeding for 4 days! I'm having a full blown period where I need overnight pads during the day due to the "gush". I'm miserable! I take the pill every day precisely at the same time and I am having postpartum hair loss and my acne is flaring up. Slynd can contribute to the hair loss and acne and I am losing clumps daily. I have been irritable but don't know if it is related to postpartum hormones. At this point I feel that I am better off stopping & take my chances."

Slynd (drospirenone) "I've been on the pills for about a month and a half now. I don't want to go on and on but the pill has only had negative side effects on me. My face is breaking out badly, I'm gaining weight quickly, and my depression is getting worse. I'd advise strongly against this one unless you have no other option."

Slynd (drospirenone) "I’ve had heavy periods and terrible acne for most of my adult life. I was on Yaz for 8 years with no problem. Once I hit 31, I had terrible mood swings and went into a deep depression. I got off of Yaz and felt like myself again. The acne and heavy periods came back but I was terrified of getting back on a pill with estrogen. I tried every holistic remedy you could think of but it only got worse over time. At 34, my doctor recommended Slynd so I decided to give it a try. Within a few weeks, my acne completely disappeared. I had irregular bleeding for the first two months accompanied by breast tenderness but since then, my period has completely disappeared. I’ve been on it for 7 months and I haven’t experienced any other side effects. No weight gain. No mood swings. I will add that it took about 3-4 months for my body to fully adjust to it (I had some random spotting here and there). Highly recommend!"

Slynd (drospirenone) "Horrible! Previously, I had Mirena (3 times) with minor issues that I didn't think outweighed the benefits. I have 3 children and wanted to try regular birth control. I started with Northindrone because I wanted a progestin-only option. However, I got off it after 6 weeks due to severe mood swings and no change in my period. Then I started Slynd. Mind you, the goal was to get rid of PMS and heavy bleeding. I started Slynd about a week before my period was due. In the first few weeks, I didn't experience any significant side effects. However, my period started one day late (despite not taking the green tablets, so I shouldn't have had one at all), and it lasted for 16 days. After that, I started another period just 3 weeks later, and I'm currently still on it. During the entirety of this time (3.24 packs), starting from about a week before the 16-day period, I have been plagued with intrusive thoughts of harm, daily severe anxiety and panic attacks, constant mood swings, irritability, and crying. Additionally, I have experienced a loss of sex drive, extreme hunger (resulting in a 3 lb weight gain), cravings, general exhaustion, breast pain, and bleeding. I have made the decision to go back to Mirena on Thursday. My advice is to stay away from Slynd!"

Slynd (drospirenone) "I’ve never left a review on anything before but this birth control is horrible. I’m 4 months PP and I’ve been on this for 3 months. There’s only 1 week out of every month that I’m not bleeding. Cramps are still there. My bloating is horrible. I’m more depressed than ever and it’s a weird kind of depression, like I just feel blank and feel like I can’t speak comfortably. I feel all zoned out and thoughtless. I’ve struggled with depression before but never like this. Now that I’m reading all these reviews I’m realizing it’s this birth control that’s causing me to feel this way. I’m nauseous pretty much everyday. I’ve been lashing out over everything. Like really lashing out with some serious anger. I’m irritable, even toward people who are simply just talking around me. Yeah it’s not a good birth control. At all. I’m stopping it tomorrow."

Slynd (drospirenone) "I started Slynd in Early to mid June and had a pretty steady flow for three weeks. I started to spotting if not everyday, then once every other day in July. The last week of July I had a steady to heavy flow for almost a month. I stopped Slynd 4 days shy of it being a full month of bleeding. I took my the last pill one week ago and I’m still bleeding. To have bled as much as I have bled these fast few months has been emotionally and physically unbearable . The way this birth control works is compulsory abstinence because it’s impossible to have a sexual life with this amount of bleeding."

Wish I could stick it out for 3 months but absolutely cannot. Gosh is it so heart breaking to overcome your fear to try a new pill only to be utterly disappointed"

Slynd (drospirenone) "I have been on Slynd for 7 months now. Previously I have had Nexplanon for 3 years. I liked it but I did not get a new one inserted because I was tired of the irregular bleeding. I tried the NuvaRing but only kept it in for a week because I was having horrible mood swings and suicidal ideation. I really wanted a regular period, which is why I chose this pill. While I like Slynd, I have not had a single period since I started using it, which kind of freaks me out sometimes, so I have a 100 pack of pregnancy tests on hand just in case- thankfully none have ever been positive. I also sometimes miss a pill and that has never been a problem. I have occasional light cramping. I haven’t really noticed a difference in my mood, skin, or libido either."

Slynd (drospirenone) "My doctor said that Slynd would be safe for my migraines and could potentially help with my PCOS. 5 days in and a bunch of dehydration symptoms hit me like a ton of bricks, and I drink ALOT of water to begin with! Excessively thirsty with no relief no matter how much I drank, frequent urination, headache, fatigue, dry mouth, cramps. It was so uncomfortable that I went to the ER. After bloodwork my electrolytes were okay but the doctor did confirm that Slynd is a strong diuretic and is causing me to feel dehydrated despite being hydrated. I felt so overwhelmingly uncomfortable that I decided to stop taking it. Although 5 days isn't very long, I didn't have any other symptoms. I looked at reviews of Slynd before I tried it and didn't see any pertaining to the very real potential of diuretic side effects that I had, so just a fair warning, though everyone's body is different and reacts differently! Just bummed it won't work for me."

Slynd (drospirenone) "I was prescribed Slynd after my doctor found my BP high during an office visit, and my readings at home were high also. I was on Yaz for several years before Slynd. I had withdrawal bleeding on Yaz during the inactive pills. When my doctor switched me to Slynd, I was dreading the breakthrough bleeding I knew I was probably going to have. My first month, I had no breakthrough bleeding and no period! I have now been on Slynd for 6 months and have experienced no breakthrough bleeding, and my periods have stopped! It has been wonderful for me! I am 42 and was a long-time user of combo birth control pills/ring since age 17 due to heavy periods. I always had a period on the combo pills, and some months, I still had very heavy periods while on the combo pills. Slynd has been an easy transition for me and has had an added bonus of having no bleeding. I do get some slight cramping during the 4 days of inactive pills but no bleeding or spotting at all!"

Slynd (drospirenone) "Hi Ladies, I have taken Slynd for exactly one month as of yesterday. As for side effects occasionally I get headaches but nothing overbearing. I do feel nauseous at times; I think my body is still getting used to taking the pill. Reason I got on birth control was to regulate my periods. I have not taken birth control in over 5 years. I have not had any break through bleeding! Thank goodness, but I am a little concerned because I have not had my period. I take the pill every day at the same time faithfully. I did read certain tea’s and herbal supplements can decrease the effectiveness. Licorice tea is my favorite and I drink at least two cups a day. Also, I incorporate flaxseeds into my diet sometimes I will take melatonin before bed. I really hope it doesn’t effect anything! Has anyone else heard about this? I plan on giving a complete review after the 3rd month. This will give my body time to adjust."
