For Birth Control "I switched to this from Junel Fe because I was hoping to help my acne and weight gain (gained 10 pounds on Junel). I only took the pill for five days but had to leave work early two days and went straight to bed by 6 pm every night due to a severe headache and overall feeling of lethargy and dizziness. I felt short of breath by day two and it remained until I quit taking the pill. I also had extreme anxiety. I got severe allergy-type symptoms by day two and felt feverish. I stopped taking Yaz yesterday and already feel better. No headache today, no feverish feeling, no anxiety. Still congested but no feeling short of breath anymore. I also noticed that I gained 2 pounds in the week I was on Yaz. Yikes! I have not changed my diet at all."

For Birth Control "I tried taking the Depo shot, and I was on my period for 6 months straight. I told my doctor, who suggested Yaz. I have been taking it for 4 years, and here are the things I have noticed after long-term use: tiredness, spotting, weight gain (went from 105 to 127), but then again, that's not as bad as it could be. I have stayed active taking kickboxing and running. Appetite increase - since taking it, I have felt like I should eat and eat and eat."

For Menstrual Disorders "I have been taking this medication for three years, and I love it. My periods became lighter after a few months. I also no longer had severe mood swings every month. It has made a huge difference in my life. The only negative side effect I noticed was mild water retention and slight weight gain of 2-3 lbs."

For Birth Control "I was on Yaz for almost a year. I gained 25 pounds and am heavier than I've ever been in my life! I've never, ever had a problem with weight gain before. After being on it for a couple of months, I started getting weekly headaches. Really bad ones. I decided to go off Yaz to see if the headaches would go away and I'd stop gaining weight. Sure enough, after about 2 weeks, the headaches stopped completely. I haven't gained any more weight either, and I've been off Yaz for about a year now. Unfortunately, I'm having problems losing all the weight I gained!"

"Yaz has by far been the best contraceptive pill for me. I've tried over 10 different pills, and it's the only one that didn't give me tender breasts and weight gain. It wasn't, however, strong enough to prevent my lung endometriosis, but I can highly recommend it for other reasons. Also great for your complexion."

For Birth Control "I have been on Yaz for over a year now. At first, it was great, my skin cleared up, my periods were regular, light, and short, and my moods varied only slightly. After about the first 5 months, however, everything started going wrong. I have constant heartburn, I've gained 10 lbs., I'm tired all the time, my acne has returned, and I've been spacey and forgetful. Worst of all are my periods. The week before and throughout my period, my moods are ALL over the place, I'm irritable and easily upset, which isn't like me. I'm getting severe cramps, migraines, and I get really nauseous when I'm on my period, which are heavier now than they ever were and last usually about 8 days, last month it lasted 11! Everyone's different, but this isn't for me."

For Menstrual Disorders "I've been taking Loryna (generic for Yaz) for about two years now. I'll preface this review by saying I'm turning 27, and I've been on some form of BC since age 20. I had surgery 12/2012 for ovarian cysts, and ever since have been struggling with weight gain, pelvic bloating, and cramping that gets worse with each passing month. When I first tried this medication, I had little to no effects. But after about 4-6 months, I gained about 30 pounds. After two years, I'm up to 40 extra pounds with no reason for it. I'm constantly bloated, hungry, and moody. Not to mention my libido is nonexistent, and I never want to be touched by my fiancé. I'm getting off this horrible medication and going on Sprintec this weekend."

For Polycystic Ovary Syndrome "I was on Yaz for almost 3 years. At first, it REALLY helped with the symptoms of my PCOS. I had gained so much weight before starting the pill, and my ache was horrible. When I got on the pill, acne went away, my weight started to slowly decrease. Now, however, I've been on it for 2 years, and all I can say is that it made me feel worse. My weight still has not dropped off (after diets and exercise). I got headaches, and I'm always so tender now. I've developed GERD, which I never had a problem with before I started the Yaz. I recently JUST stopped taking it, and now that I'm NOT on it, I feel more in control over my thoughts, and I started noticing roller coaster patterns in my moods from when I was on the Yaz. However, I'm summing up."

For Birth Control "I went on Yaz about 8 months ago. My skin is pretty clear. During my period and stressful times, my chin breaks out, but that is normal. However, I gained so much weight, 20 kilograms. Just like Peggy, the other comment. My mood is fine, however, I have depression, but it has been very, very manageable while on Yaz. I experience spotting, but I'm not too bothered by it."

For Acne "I am 39 years old, and I have been on Yaz for 16 months to treat acne. My skin is looking a lot better, but my libido is totally gone, and I feel down most days. I have also gained weight that I can't shed off. I also have cysts in my breasts. I really want to try something else, I am hoping that I can just stay off hormones for at least a year, but I know the acne might come back harder."

For Acne "I was on Yaz for 3 years. I loved this pill—helped my cystic acne dramatically, helped with ovarian cysts, had lighter periods, etc. However, I accidentally got pregnant on it and took it exactly as I was supposed to. I ended up having a very early miscarriage. On top of this, I gained a good bit of weight and constantly retained fluid on this pill. I loved how I felt on it, and it really helped my PMS mood swings. However, I just cannot trust it anymore with getting pregnant on it (and using the pull-out method on top of the pill!) Now that I’m off of it, I had my first period off of it and then lost a pound a day and look smaller from losing the extra fluid I had retained on it! I feel smaller already. Pregnancy is still possible on a pill as good as this one, ladies, so beware. I missed my period, and there I was with positive tests."

For Acne "I have been on Yaz for 7 months now to treat my chin acne. The first three months of taking Yaz, I had the worst cystic breakouts in places I have never gotten breakouts before. It was terrible, but I wanted to give it some time. Now it has been 7 months, and I still break out on my chin. There has been maybe two weeks when I haven't gotten any breakouts at all, but now it is the same thing as before. I also quit sugar and dairy and used all-natural skin care products, but still no dramatic improvement. Also, Yaz made me gain weight, and I have noticed eyelash hair loss."

For Birth Control "I was prescribed this for PCOS, took it for years. Before that, I also took it as a teen for acne and as a young adult (so off and on). I don't like Yaz. Every time I’ve ever taken it, I become asexual. I can’t feel anything during sex, can’t get aroused, no interest in sex. I also gain weight and get cellulite. I have difficulty sleeping. It also gave me high blood pressure. The main benefit of Yaz for me was that it really helped with acne (I get cystic acne due to PCOS). I have quit taking Yaz and will never take it again. As soon as I stopped taking it and switched to a different brand, my blood pressure is normal and my libido is back and better than ever. Can’t believe I never realized what Yaz was doing to me. I thought I had just become asexual and an insomniac. I did not get pregnant, however, I always use condoms."

For Birth Control "I was on Yaz for about a month and a half after switching from Ortho Tri-Cyclen that I used for 7 years. I switched because Ortho wasn't working for me anymore. I was nauseous and felt off balance. I had no problems with acne nor weight gain. While on Yaz for a short time, I had anxiety, depression, bloating, and weight gain. I had to stop mid-pack because I was an emotional wreck. I'm on Aviane now for two months and experiencing horrible breakouts I never had before. I feel slightly off balance when I first start using active pills and during the first few inactive pills. I'm still looking for what will work for me."

"I'm on month 3-4, so my 4th pack of Yaz. My skin hasn't had any improvement, I find I have new breakouts on my chin and on my cheeks. I noticed my skin cleared during month 2, and then on month 3-4 it got worse. However, I have had no bad symptoms, like headaches or depression, and no weight gain. My periods for the first and third months lasted a ridiculously long time (10-14 days), but I will say they're definitely a lot less painful. I am nearly finished with my 4th pack, so it'll be 4 months on Yaz. I'll update you after I finish the 6-month course (after my next two packs) and hope the results are pleasing."

For Acne "I used Yaz (both brand name and generic) for 18 months over 3 years. Good: Balanced my mood. Skipped periods. Skin and hair were clear and shiny - fixed an ongoing breakout almost immediately. After about 6 months, the bad: weight gain, 2 months of constant breakthrough bleeding, varicose veins, severe dry eye that sporadically continues after stopping Yaz - eye drops have no effect."

"I have been using Yaz Plus for 7 months because I have very heavy flow. I have never struggled with my skin, but with Yaz, my skin is really glowing. I do, however, still get breakouts when I get my period. I have very irregular periods with Yaz, where I am on my period for 3 weeks. I also struggle with spotting between cycles. I gained weight and really struggle to lose it, even though I exercise much more and eat much healthier than before. This pill is not working for me, and I am going to see a doctor. I strongly feel that everyone reacts differently to medication, this is definitely not for me."

For Birth Control "Very, very horrible. Made me gain so much weight. And kinda messed everything up as well, my period was late for two weeks and barely bled when I did get my period. A lot of water retention and bloating. So much for fewer side effects."

For Birth Control "I took Yaz for about a year and the first 5ish months were hell. As this was my first experience with birth control, I thought it was normal and to be expected. I struggled with major mood swings, frequent migraines, and slight weight gain. But I stuck it through hoping the symptoms would lighten as I continued the BC, and boy was I right. I struggle with mental health issues, mainly bipolar, and I felt like my depression went away, weirdly enough. My skin was so clear (which was an amazing plus because I’ve struggled with hormonal acne for the majority of my life), and my mood was so stable! But unfortunately, about 9 months in, I noticed a serious dip in my sex drive and large patches of melasma on my face, bummer. Despite those 6 months being hellish and the melasma/low sex drive, I really liked Yaz, but I’m hoping Hailey Fe treats me better!"

For Birth Control "IMPORTANT: I started Yaz about a year ago, and at first, I noticed nothing. Then I became extremely irritable towards my boyfriend for no reason. My breasts grew a full cup size (plus), BUT Yaz gave me a yeast infection for four months and made me gain ten pounds. I know everyone is different, but I really did not notice how much weight I gained, my infection is terrible, and I am switching."

For Birth Control "I have absolutely loved being on Yaz! I have taken every kind of birth control you can think of, and had terrible side effects. I have tried at least 5 different kinds of pills, the shot, an IUD. (I'm also allergic to latex, so yay for me). All gave me terrible mood swings, weight gain, and acne. Although gaining weight when you only weigh 103 pounds shouldn't be an issue, it still bothered me enough to make me stop taking other things. With Yaz, I had none of these side effects and felt better than before."

For Acne "I was on Yaz for 5 months. I'm normally a really upbeat, happy person. It turned me into an absolute monster. Very angry, all the time. I noticed it about two weeks after taking it. The only good thing about it was that I experienced no hair loss, no weight gain."

For Birth Control "I have been on Yaz for about a year and a half. I just switched today to a different pill. I gained about 10 pounds on Yaz. It made me impossible to deal with. I was so uncontrollably moody, and it made my acne worse. Hopefully the new stuff will help."

For Birth Control "I switched from Mononessa to Yaz. After the horrible experience I had with Mononessa, Yaz was amazing! It was all good until the beginning of my 4th year of being on it. My body got used to Yaz. I noticed a drastic change in my sex drive (like no sex drive at all, my poor BF), insane mood swings, and starting to feel sadness. I went to the doctor today, actually, and asked her to switch, and now I am trying Microgestin in one month after I get my period again. I am nervous since I am reading a lot about the weight gain, mood swings, and low sex drive involved with Microgestin, which is what I'm trying to get away from. But the good thing is, I can always go back and keep trying since there are thousands of birth controls out there. Good luck!"

For Birth Control "The goal when I started these pills was to regulate my menstruation and make them less painful, but they made it worse. Each month my period got lesser and lesser until I didn't have them anymore. I would spot in between the months, and when I actually got my period, it would be brown in color and very painful. I gained a lot of weight while on these pills, and even my ovulation was painful. They did not help me at all, but maybe they'll work for you."
