For Acne "I went on Yaz about 2 to 3 years ago to cure acne and very heavy periods. It worked brilliantly for both, but it has caused extreme weight gain for me. I gained 10 kg (around 20 lbs) in the first few months, and now I am considered overweight on the BMI for the first time in my life. I have tried everything from the gym to cutting out carbs and can't lose any weight. I put this down to being an estrogen-dominant pill. I just had my period and do not plan to go back on it."

For Polycystic Ovary Syndrome "I have been on Yaz for a little over a year now. My doctor put me on this pill because it is apparently a good one for PCOS. This pill did keep me from getting pregnant and helped somewhat with cramping. However, while on this pill, I gained about 12 pounds, and my sex drive was non-existent, and I'm 21, so that's not normal. Also, while I was on Yaz, my periods never came the day they were supposed to but rather the day they were supposed to end. My periods were often heavy and irregular. Before I was put on Yaz, I was on Seasonique, and today I am going back on that pill. I was on Seasonique for 4 years before Yaz, and I never had any problems."

For Acne "I was on Yaz for about a year. It cleared up my severe acne almost instantaneously (though I actually broke out severely in the very beginning). I also noticed a decreased growth of facial/body hair. My periods were also much shorter, and I had much lighter flows. The only negative side effect that I noticed was slight weight gain. I have been off the pill for a few months now because my insurance no longer covers it at all."

For Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder "I was honestly terrified reading the reviews before talking to my Dr about Yaz, but we came to the conclusion that this is the best possible option for me. I mainly got on Yaz for my PMDD and acne and have seen a significant improvement for both. My acne is practically nonexistent on my face now, and I have very minor PMS symptoms. I saw many reviews saying weight gain can occur, but I lost 20 lbs so far. I do have extreme cravings but have gotten pretty good at suppressing them and eating only in moderation. My breasts have grown probably a whole cup size and are extremely tender, however. Despite that, Yaz was a great option for me and helped me significantly when antidepressants couldn’t."

For Birth Control "I've used Yaz for 4 years now, and I am switching because of the price, but out of the 4 years, Yaz was excellent. I never had weight gain, it helped with my acne, and periods were about 3 days long with lighter cramping than before I was on it. I would continue to use it if the price wasn't $89. So I love it and recommend it."

For Birth Control "I'm so glad I came across these reviews! I have been taking Yaz for 4 months now and am severely depressed, gained 5 pounds, and have no sex drive. My poor husband. I'm calling my doctor tomorrow! I do have to say it made my period so light and was very regular!"

For Birth Control "I was on Yaz for 6 months. I went from having severe back acne and moderate face acne to almost NO ACNE!! For the first time in my teen years (I'm 17), I am not embarrassed about my face, and I can wear a bathing suit without being embarrassed about severe back acne. I have a relatively light period that lasts for 7 days, but only 3 or 4 of those days are real flow. I can predict my coming period down to the hour. The ONLY bad thing is that I GAINED 10 POUNDS, and I can't get it off. Some people lose weight on this birth control, and some gain. It's hard to tell how you will react. Try the pill and see if it works for you. I am taking a break to see if the weight comes off."

For Acne "I took Yaz for 2 months for acne, and it worked really well for that. I loved how I didn't have any more acne problems. I did gain about 6 lbs. and went up in bra size big time. Everyone started calling me 'Dolly'-seriously, that was all I could see on myself! It was very painful, and my breasts felt like they were going to pop! I quit taking it, and they went back down to normal!"

For Birth Control "I have been taking Yaz for a little less than a year, but I love it! I'm 18 and a freshman in college, I barely ever have the side effects, and I can tell you when I will start my period pretty much down to the hour. I have suffered little weight gain (but then again, I'm a freshman). I've noticed that my side effects aren't as bad when I do daily exercise. I don't know if that has anything to do with it, but I love this pill and would recommend it for anyone!"

For Birth Control "I was on Yaz for a year, trying to let my body get used to it. It made me depressed and made my PMS even worse, accompanied by headaches. It made my period irregular (twice a month and heavy). It did help my acne, I'll give it credit for that, but on it, I gained about 20 pounds, and it's been really hard to take that weight off."

For Birth Control "As several people have already said, the majority of reviews I read for Yaz scared me almost to the point of reconsidering my choice of pill. However, I decided to just give it a shot, and I have found very few problems. My skin cleared up, besides a few pimples around my period, I gained maybe 5 pounds (my breasts got larger, but who's complaining), and as someone who suffers from generalized anxiety disorder, I have found no issues. There are only two negatives that I have found: if you forget to take a pill, you start spotting. My friends who take Yaz have similar experiences. The other negative is that I tend to get a little moody around my period. Overall, I would definitely recommend this pill for acne and birth control."

For Birth Control "I was on Yaz for almost 3 years. It was great for the first 2 3/4 years! I felt like it helped with my moods and cramps before my period and just worked great overall. A few months ago, though, I started having PMS for 2 weeks straight, and month by month after it, the PMS creeped up into the entire month! I would cry for absolutely no reason or from the smallest thing, be very irritable and angry over little things, depressed, nightmares, hungry all the time, extremely tired all the time - coffee did nothing, weight gain, etc. Went off it about 5 days ago and feel so much better!"

For Birth Control "Got on it to regulate my period (which it did, but also gave it to me 2x/month). Developed severe depression, anxiety, gained 30 lbs, and was all around one of the worst experiences of my life. After my doctor told me to give it time to let my body get used to it, I pushed through another couple of months until it was clear the birth control was the issue. Been months off of it and still suffering some secondary side effects, but the bulk of it is gone. Would seriously not recommend."

For Birth Control "It was on the fourth month, my condition got better but still with bouts of migraine, and what I noticed is that I somehow smell 'down there.' Though my BV was treated more than five months ago, I became worried about it. Before the fifth pack, I forgot to take a pill, so I had to follow how to continue it. I stopped by the fifth pack because I simply couldn't take it anymore. Migraine was so severe, and depression and anxiety made me feel restless. I bled again. The smell of my discharge is not really good, like there was something rotten (I don't use tampons). I gained weight too, though I have lesser acne. But I can't prolong my agony anymore, so I stopped."

For Birth Control "I had the worst mood swings on Yaz. Cried basically every day over the stupidest things, made me extremely tired and stressed, and made me gain a ton of weight. After a year of being on it, I switched to Tri-Cyclen and couldn't be happier."

"I've been on the Yaz pill for a year and a half now due to problems with my ovaries. When I first started, I had my period for 29 days. After that, everything has been perfect, my skin cleared, and I didn't gain weight or get moody at all. Now I've been off it for two months, and I've gained weight, got horrid skin, and been moody and short-tempered. That's my only downside. I've had the biggest problem as a teen. It's hard to get the money for this expensive pill that not only prevents unwanted pregnancy but also helps with medical issues. I live in a small town with only two chemists, and the cheapest is $87.00."

For Birth Control "I suffered with painful periods and extreme bloating and gastro issues a week before and after periods. I take Yaz (Eloine in the UK) as advised with a 4-day break, I have no period at all, which is great. Also, all my problems with 'endo belly' are gone. My mood is stable on Eloine/Yaz. I was very worried about putting on weight, but I feel there is not much I can blame on the pill (I hope!). I have put a bit on, but I could blame not exercising and not so great diet at times. No bloating anymore. Breasts increased quite a lot, I think my body shape changed a bit too. My skin and hair are good. I'm 33. I’ve been on it over 2 years now. I tried once to have a break from this pill, the first month was okay, the second I had all my symptoms from the past and heavy period, so I came back to this pill after 2 months. Stopping it and starting made my mental health really bad. I was depressed, panicky, anxious, and had extreme anger at times, however, it settled with taking the pill, and I’m very stable."

For Birth Control "I was on Yaz for about 2 years, and I loved it, I never had a problem with it. Well, when all the commercials came out about all the horrible side effects, I panicked, and my doctor switched me to Loestrin 24 FE... WORST decision I ever made. I'm happy to say I called my doctor today, and apparently the FDA released a new statement saying Yaz is as safe as all other oral contraceptives, so I'm going back on Yaz next month. I never had any weight gain, or horrible mood swings, and cramps were reduced drastically. I'm so happy to be going back to Yaz."

For Birth Control "I started Yaz about a year ago. First, it wasn't too bad seeing as my previous pills made my legs swell some kind of crazy. But now, into a year and 20 pounds heavier, I've decided to come off of them. Between the weight gain, now swelling legs, being tired all the time, no sex drive, mood swings like no one's business, and random spotting, the only thing good that has come out of these pills is the fact I haven't gotten pregnant."

For Birth Control "I've been using Yaz since July. First box, I have tons of side effects. I had nausea, I was feeling very weak, I was fatigued and super sleepy all the time. After two weeks, nausea was gone. I had irregular bleeding, which was gone in the third box. I gained 2 kg, but I am not sure it's really related to Yaz. However, since the first day, I am definitely in a depression. I tend to cry without a reason a lot. I am super anxious about very little things. I definitely overreact emotionally. I am feeling hopeless and so on. After I am sure this depression, which came with Yaz, is not going away, my doctor gave me another one, which I will start soon."

"I took Yaz for a little over 2 years. From around the age of 16 to 18. I gained a little bit of weight, not much, but extremely hard to lose. Also, I experienced mood swings frequently, sometimes getting extremely upset and feeling the need to cry. But the reason I stopped taking Yaz was that I started to get extremely bad migraines/headaches. These headaches would come very frequently. I would say averaging around 2-5 days a week. Migraines run in my family, but the funny thing is I never experienced them before the pill. Also, nothing would help these headaches. I took everything from Tylenol to Excedrin Migraine. Nothing helped. Hoped this helped! Good luck!"

For Birth Control "I have been on and off birth control for about 10 years. I've tried Mirena, Loestrin 24, and Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo. I always had a little nausea, but Yaz was the first pill to make me vomit. I've been the same size for 10 years, but while on Yaz, I gained about 15 pounds and went up two cup sizes! I do have loss of appetite, but I'm hungry all the time. What I mean is I don't want to eat, but the hunger is so intense that I have to. My period was also never-ending. But that may be due to me missing a few pills this month."

For Birth Control "In less than a year, I gained 8 kg without changing my diet or the amount of exercise I do. I lost my libido completely, and I'm totally dry from head to toe. Still, I had no horrible mood changes as I had with Qlaira, my period is still regular but way less heavy, and the cramps reduced a lot."

For Birth Control "The only good thing that came from Yaz was that it completely cleared up my mild acne, I mean flawless skin. However, I went from a 34A to a 34D in 3 months and gained 15 pounds that no matter how much I exercised I couldn't lose. Another negative it gave me chronic headaches and an upset stomach 24/7. Another plus was that I didn't get pregnant on this pill! Overall, great pill for acne, bad for other side effects."

For Birth Control "I had no idea people were still being prescribed Yaz! It ruined my life! I was on it years ago for about 1 year. Within the first few days, I had the worst headache! It felt like a knife in the lower part of my head, right above the neck. Then other symptoms started up. My boobs got huge (which was nice), but then the rest of my body got huge too! I gained 40 lbs in 2 months! I felt like it helped my PMDD, but also made everything worse. Dr’s refused to admit there were problems with Yaz. I had pains in my legs, severe cystic acne that I still have horrible scars from (I never had it before). I ended up severely depressed & finally decided to not listen to the Dr’s & I stopped taking it. It took a year or so for my body to adjust, but I still haven’t been able to lose the weight. Ugh, I don’t trust Dr’s at all!"
