For Birth Control "I’m almost done with my second month of Yaz, and it has been really tough. I was put on birth control for PCOS as a way to regulate my hormones and period. Both months, about three weeks into the pack, I get headaches, nausea, upper stomach cramps, exhaustion, throwing up, extremely sensitive breasts, horrible uterine cramps, sporadic facial hair growth (I have facial hair due to PCOS, and I was hoping Yaz would reduce it, but it seems to make it grow faster during certain times of the month), and a terrible liquid yellow diarrhea (TMI, I know). I’m trying to stick it out, but honestly, I don’t even know if this pill is helping with my hormones, but we’ll see."

For Birth Control "I've been on Yaz birth control pills for about 2 months now, and since then I have experienced a lack of appetite and really bad nausea. Since being on it, I have lost close to 20 lbs. BUT on the bright side, I'm not pregnant."

For Birth Control "I only took this medication for about 10 days, but I heard horror stories about birth control, so I was scared of taking it. But really, it caused nothing major, just a bit of nausea that I could easily handle with some ginger tea. No sudden water weight gain, no acne, but I was a short while on this medication. The thing is, it made me quite emotional in the last few days, but probably it is that I am just in an emotional period of my life, and the pill made my emotions a bit more raw. I just did not want to deal with that and stopped. But I think the benefits outweigh these mild side effects, and it felt like they will subside if I continued taking the pill. Try it."

For Birth Control "I'm switching back to YAZ after trying another least expensive birth control. I would rather pay $60 a month for YAZ than to be on all the other pills that made me extremely moody, anxious, and nauseous. With YAZ, I didn't feel like I was on birth control. I felt like my normal self, with my normal sex drive, normal weight, but without the monster cramps, severe acne, and moodiness before my period, and the long 8-day cycle. I would recommend it to anyone who has tried a lot of different pills that had too many bad side effects."

For Birth Control "I've been on this for almost two months now, and in my short experience, it has done wonders. My old periods would cause severe cramps, nausea, vomiting, periods lasting up to 16 days, and horrible mood swings. For roughly the two weeks around my period, I was so sad and honestly thought there was something wrong with me. But now, my periods (so far) are short, almost painless, and no vomiting. My mood swings have toned down so much I forgot what it was like to be this calm. The only issue I find is I have gained fat (but not weight??) as I've eaten more, so that really is my own fault. And I have very tender, dense, sore breasts that I can't sleep on my stomach anymore. But this definitely isn't as bad as how I used to be, so very good!"

For Birth Control "I'm a full-time athlete, never really struggled with acne but wanted to experience a birth control as my periods were irregular, which disrupted my training and travel. I've never really suffered from acne in my life, but the first month being on Yaz, I experienced the most pimples I've ever had. Now I'm left with scars. Now, onto my second month, I am seeing slow improvement, still getting a few pimples. I have put on 2 kg, which I'm not completely sure if it's been this pill or that I have increased my weights by a great margin. My boobs have also seen a significant increase in size. In the last month, I have experienced migraines, headaches, nausea. Not sure how this pill is going to play out, but if no improvement is seen after 3 months, I'm out."

For Birth Control "I've been on the generic version of Yaz for 7 days now. I have been nauseated for 7 days and have resulted in taking Zofran (ondansetron) 4 times so that I could eat food. Previously, I was on a non-hormonal IUD (Paraguard) but had to have surgery to remove it after it was expelled from my uterus and punctured and embedded in the uterus wall. I'm hopeful that the nausea will go away soon because it's impacted my daily activities."

For Acne "I'm on the 2nd week of my 2nd pack, and so far I see little to no change in my acne. It's made me get minor menstrual cramps at times, not even close to my period, but lightened up my period a lot! I have some pretty intense mood swings and a bit of nausea. I'm probably going to switch since this isn't helping me and is making me grumpy and depressed 24/7."

For Birth Control "I’ve been on Yaz for almost 2 months, and I hate it. I have heightened smell. I’ve actually thrown up due to it. I’m noticing my mood swings are going from 0-10 really quick, my poor boyfriend has also noticed. I’ve broken out so badly with acne, and I’ve also been spotting now for almost 2 weeks, now becoming heavier bleeding and cramps. Going to switch pills as I feel disgusting and can’t even be intimate with my dang birth control, so Yaz has been a huge waste of time for this girl."

For Acne "Yaz has worked really well for me! I started taking it for cystic acne, and although it's not a magic/instant cure, after 5 months my skin is clearer than it's ever been. It's the only thing that's ever actually helped my acne. The only downside is that it made me super depressed and nauseous for like a week when I started taking it, lol, but after that it's been good."

For Acne "I have only been on Yaz for acne and birth control for 6 weeks, but so far everything is all good! Period started as normal and was regular, still the same length, but hopefully will get shorter and lighter with time. My acne has improved and pimples don’t appear to be as bad. No mood swings, no weight gain, and no vomiting. I did have a bit of nausea the first few days, but that’s generally me, so not sure what that was from. 100% recommend, I'm so happy with it!"

For Birth Control "I started Yaz a few months ago after I had terrible effects from Blisovi, and I am beyond pleased with this birth control. Works well as a contraceptive, but that’s not all. I had HORRIBLE cramps, long periods, and excessive bleeding before starting Yaz. It’s been a couple of months now, and I’ve never felt better. I haven’t had any cramping whatsoever, my periods have gotten so short that they last one to two days (it typically lasted 3-4 days before Yaz), and the bleeding is light and basically just spotting. I also haven’t had any bad side effects like I had on Blisovi: no more mood swings, month-long cramping, not as depressed, no more nausea during and before periods. This pill has completely changed my periods, and it no longer feels like the nightmare it was lol. Would definitely recommend Yaz :)"

For Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder "After 4 days, I'm giving this a miss. Prescribed for PMDD and perimenopause symptoms. Terrible nausea and anxiety. I'm not looking to make things worse than they are. One day off it and feel better already. I'll just have to keep enduring these terrible periods until I am blessed with menopause."

For Birth Control "I've been using Yaz since July. First box, I have tons of side effects. I had nausea, I was feeling very weak, I was fatigued and super sleepy all the time. After two weeks, nausea was gone. I had irregular bleeding, which was gone in the third box. I gained 2 kg, but I am not sure it's really related to Yaz. However, since the first day, I am definitely in a depression. I tend to cry without a reason a lot. I am super anxious about very little things. I definitely overreact emotionally. I am feeling hopeless and so on. After I am sure this depression, which came with Yaz, is not going away, my doctor gave me another one, which I will start soon."

"Yaz has been great for me so far! I just had my baby and researched different birth control methods. I liked how Yaz sounded because I do suffer from PMDD. The first month I took this, I didn't notice anything different (probably because I just had a baby and my hormones are out of whack still). But I have noticed much difference within the next 2 months of taking this. My face has also cleared up, which is awesome! I was so worried about losing my sex drive on the pill, but it seriously has INCREASED a lot! I was also worried about gaining weight on this, but I have lost weight instead! The only negative side effect I somewhat experience is headaches and a little bit of nausea. Other than that, I highly recommend Yaz."

For Birth Control "I was taking another brand of Yaz combination pill for years, but from a different laboratory and stopped for 6-7 months. Where I am now, just Yaz is available. 1 month and a half, and yes, it is working, of course, for birth control, BUT my skin is worse than ever, I am bloated and have nausea every night (4 hours after I take it), and I wake up in the middle of the night just because of the discomfort/pain. I am experiencing obsessive thoughts, especially about food and things that I could have done better (social contexts). Oh, I almost forgot the headaches, kind of migraines that I never had before. I will wait until the third month, as the prospectus suggests, but if this continues, I am definitely leaving it."

For Birth Control "I have been on and off birth control for about 10 years. I've tried Mirena, Loestrin 24, and Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo. I always had a little nausea, but Yaz was the first pill to make me vomit. I've been the same size for 10 years, but while on Yaz, I gained about 15 pounds and went up two cup sizes! I do have loss of appetite, but I'm hungry all the time. What I mean is I don't want to eat, but the hunger is so intense that I have to. My period was also never-ending. But that may be due to me missing a few pills this month."

For Birth Control "I was prescribed this Yaz after I had a terrible experience with Zoely (estradiol) after about 8 months of using it. I took Yaz for 2 days and immediately started feeling completely different from usual. I found I felt nauseous when eating and also when I was hungry to the point I felt like I couldn't eat, woke up feeling very unwell, extremely sore breasts! I still have sore breasts and haven't taken this pill for 2 days now."

For Birth Control "I was accidentally put on Yaz when I was supposed to be on Yasmin back in July 2008. I just decided to stick it out and see if there was a difference. The 10 microgram difference in dosage made a HUGE difference. (Yasmin 30 microgram, Yaz 20 microgram) From July 2008 to January 2009, (the time I was on Yaz) it was completely miserable. I had constant nausea, would feel sick eating anything with lactose, had mood swings that almost cost me my relationship, unbearable headaches, and at times I had sharp shooting back pain. I felt completely unmotivated, and it had a negative effect on my school life. Once I switched back to the 30 microgram dosage, (Ocella) the side effects decreased dramatically."

For Birth Control "The smell of food makes me immediately nauseous, but I haven't allowed it to let me puke. I never get headaches unless I have the flu, but my head constantly hurts. I've only been on Yaz for a week now, and these symptoms started on day 2 and haven't gotten any better. I constantly feel unmotivated, sluggish, and dehydrated. I have not had my period at all and missed my last one. Most likely going to switch to a different drug. Also taking it to help with acne. It got really bad before it got better somewhat. My skin looked way better before I had taken anything."

For Birth Control "I'm 18 years old. I am on month 4 of this pill and will be discontinuing its use once this pack is done. It cleared up my acne completely by month 3, which is why I am on it, but the mood swings are not worth clear skin. I'm prone to anxiety, but my depression and anxiety have skyrocketed. I feel completely hopeless and have panic attacks every day. My heart is always racing, and I also feel nauseated so easily. This pill makes me feel like I'm going insane. Feeling this bad is not worth clear skin, but I give it a 3 only because it did clear up my acne amazingly. Would not recommend."

For Birth Control "Con: Yaz has mimicked my pregnancy symptoms completely. From the nausea to the bloat, the super sore breasts to the dark spots on my face. Pro: It made my periods super manageable, light, and pretty painless. So you get the one week of not feeling terrible and the rest of the month feeling awful."

For Acne "I am now entering month 2 of Yaz, and I don’t know if it’s how much more consistent I’m taking it or what, but I’m having awful symptoms. My acne isn’t really clearing up, I’m nauseous in the morning and evening. I have headaches in the morning and evening, and I have had a few night sweats. I also feel like my heart is going to jump right out of my body before I go to sleep. I don’t know if I should stick it out for two months or go off cold turkey."

For Birth Control "I was put on Yaz for my choice of birth control and mood swings. I seriously loved it. I felt great, lost a ton of weight, and my skin was perfect. First time in years. About 7 months into taking the pills, I ended up very, very sick in the hospital. My gallbladder ended up shutting down. All the bile was backed up, and I was taken into surgery very quickly after. Now I am off of Yaz. My doctor switched the pill and put me on Wellbutrin. While my skin is not clear anymore, I am feeling much better."
