For Birth Control "I started Yaz about 7 months ago because I had found out that I had developed ovarian cysts. I had been on Yaz for two years as a teenager and had side effects, but I didn’t notice them as much as this time. Over the time I had taken Yaz, I had developed low mood, temperament, and a bad attitude towards everything. The change was so slow that it wasn’t obvious that it wasn’t me and not the pill. On my last month, I took this pill, I had just started a new job and had to quit after one day because of extreme nausea and anxiety I was experiencing. Other side effects I experienced on Yaz were depression, suicidal thoughts, withdrawn, violent (kicking in a wall), angry, argumentative, irritable, extreme nausea, dizziness, hypoglycemia (if I don’t eat every 3 hours I would get nauseous), and no motivation to do anything, random pain in the legs, jealous of others, tired all the time, foggy head, crying all the time, and distrust of people. Please be aware."

For Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder "Probably the worst decision I have ever made was to go on this pill. I decided to wait a few months in order for my mood to improve since I am aware it takes a few months for your body to regulate the hormones. I had just switched from Alesse because my doctor recommended me to try Yaz to see if I would like it more as the periods are shorter. My irritability, anxiety, and depression were at an all-time high during the 7 months I was taking this pill. I was convinced I had BPD because of how insane I felt. It ruined a lot of my relationships, and I was very suicidal. As soon as I got off of it, back on Alesse, my fav, I felt amazing again and normal. I also felt super nauseous, and my heart rate was always irregular. My friends have all had similar experiences with Yaz, and I really would not recommend it if you are a young girl in her late teens (I’m 19). Hope this saves someone's time, I really recommend Alesse if you can take it!"

For Birth Control "I started taking Yaz just last month. When I started taking the white period-inducing pills, the period didn't stop after I switched back to the rest of the monthly pills. I've had my period for 13 days straight at a time and am not sure what to do. Also, breast soreness, nausea, and headaches have occurred, making this rather unpleasant."

For Birth Control "I usually don't write reviews, but I thought I should as I read these before starting my first packet and found a lot of negative reviews which completely scared me. Although I know everyone's body is different, Yaz completely changed my life. I started taking Yaz as I was experiencing frequent breakouts and PMS leading up to my period, as well as terrible cramps and nausea during. For years, it was such a struggle for me, and it got to the point where I would be completely out of order for the first day or two of my period. No pain medication helped! I couldn't be any more thankful for Yaz as I no longer experience any of these symptoms. I find that my mood is much more stable throughout my cycle, and I hardly experience menstrual cramps anymore. Additionally, my skin has cleared up significantly. Although I have not tried other birth controls, I do not have any negative side effects to comment on."

For Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder "I've had a very positive experience with Yaz (Eloine in the UK), which has completely cleared up my previously debilitating PMDD. All of my symptoms have gone: the fatigue, nausea, difficulty concentrating, depression, anxiety, foggy-headedness, bloating, water retention, cravings, muscle aches, and insomnia. I've been taking it continuously for four months, and although for the first few weeks I noticed some of the side effects mentioned on the leaflet, such as tearfulness and breast swelling (also, I was hornier than usual!), these went and left me feeling really good. I don't notice a single side effect now, and I have more consistent energy and happiness. Also, no weight gain to speak of: I just had some fluctuations in water retention during the first month, and my shape has slightly changed (a little less fat on my stomach/more on my hips), but it's not extreme, and I feel good. I definitely recommend trying Yaz for PMDD, and I hope your experience is as good as mine!"

For Acne "I have been on Yaz for 6 weeks. I know that isn't very long to make a judgment about its effects on acne, so I'll give it the benefit of the doubt. Though it really has not helped my acne at all, I cannot conclude that in the next month or two it wouldn't help then either. My issue is that the side effects are really discouraging. I have been so tired almost every day and my energy is low. I'm a fitness fanatic, but my workouts haven't been as good because I'm so tired. I've also been more depressed and my appetite has most definitely increased. I have had some mild nausea. I noticed an increase in gas and bloating. My breasts have also been extremely tender and swollen."

For Acne "My doctor put me on Yaz medication 2 years ago to help with my acne. Before it, I was on a different kind I believe called Microgestin, and that had made my acne worse. Switching to this birth control was a big change. I am now a complete moody cow, and I am accidentally so mean to everyone in my life. I cry at least 5 times a week over the stupidest things, and am always tired and have no energy to do anything. On top of it all, I get nauseous around the same time every day, and it overall has messed up my body. But my skin is perfectly clear, and I'll probably stay on it because I don't want acne, lol."

For Acne "I am 20 years old. I've had moderate acne since I was 13. I've never had completely clear skin since that age. I needed to get on birth control, and I was a bit nervous about the side effects. I chose Yaz because the claims said it would help clear acne. When I started my first pack, my breasts became sore, and I was slightly nauseous. Nothing seemed to happen with my skin. By my second pack, I started to break out, I wasn't sure if it was the birth control or just me. The nausea went away. By the fourth pack, the breakout was at its worst. I was very frustrated and wanted to quit the birth control. But by the end of my fourth pack, I noticed the acne was clearing. I am now on my fifth month with only a couple of small pimples, and my hopes are high!"

For Birth Control "I'm currently still on Yaz because my mother won't let me off of it. I'm 18 and not using Yaz for contraception but for depression and anxiety, which I find horrendous that my doctor has kinda just gone, 'you're a female, it must be your period!' Idiot. However, Yaz was kind of working at the start, everything has gone downhill, and now in my fourth month of using it, I'm thinking of stopping taking them against my doctor and mother because my periods are irregular. I drink a lot of water, but I'm constipated daily. I have funny discharge, I've put on weight, I have headaches and feel dizzy. Closer to my period, I get sick and feel like vomiting, and I'm not happy. These pills don't help me how they're supposed to, they just hurt me."

For Birth Control "I have been taking Yaz now for a little over a year, and I have noticed a few effects of it. Some good and some bad. It cleared up my acne a lot, made my periods WAY lighter and less painful. The bad side effects are that I almost completely have lost my sex drive, also it makes my eyes super sensitive, I always have to wear sunglasses and can barely wear contacts for about 3 hours. When I first started taking it, I got really bad nausea, but now I don't."

For Birth Control "I'm on week 3 of Yaz, and I can't impress enough how it has exacerbated my depression. I am crying constantly, I'm getting cramps like there's no tomorrow, and feeling nauseous randomly. I don't think regulating my period is worth the feeling of hopelessness, the lack of motivation, and the general low feeling I am immersed in after only 3 weeks!"

For Birth Control "Went on this just for birth control. My acne has always been mild, break out near period usually. When I started the pill, I broke out for the first 2 months in places I don't normally break out (cystic too). It was pretty sad because I don't normally break out that bad. On my third pack now, though, and my skin is pretty much clear again. My period pain used to be severe, though, and now they are much better (period has always been regular and short, 3-4 days). I have increased a cup in breast size too. I haven't gained any weight or had any cravings since on the pill. However, I have had a couple of days where I would feel sad/moody for no reason and get nausea randomly, but not too bad."

For Birth Control "I am still on my first month of Yaz (day 20), but as the changes for the better are so obvious, I want to share my experience. Before Yaz, I took Diane 35 for PCOS symptoms for a couple of years. I got so used to being moody and never knowing if the next day would be okay or filled with unexplained anxiety, crying, and, in general, just annoyed about everything. I had started to feel that I am just a difficult, moody person, and I was looking to seek psychological help, as my moodiness started to negatively affect my relationship as well. Due to the high blood clot risks of Diane, I decided to change the pill to Yaz. Within the first week of Yaz, I felt that a cloud had been lifted from the top of my head, and I could see the positive sides of life again. I don't remember if I've been this calm and able to enjoy life during the time of taking Diane. I had some nausea, fatigue, and stomach problems during the first days, but the positive effects on my mental state make all those side effects insignificant."

For Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder "I've only been taking this for one month for premenstrual dysphoric disorder and haven't even had my first period on it. So far, I have felt generally more level and have found I have more energy. I take it at 10 pm, so any nausea is while I sleep. I have been waking at 5 am, but slowly things are improving on that front. I used to have joint pain with my PMDD, and my knee joints don't hurt anymore. I have gained 2 pounds, but I have also been eating winter comfort food, so it could be that! I plan to exercise now my energy is returning, so hopefully I can start to lose all my pregnancy weight from 2 pregnancies. So far, so good - actually interested to see if my periods are lighter as they were awful before."

For Birth Control "I started Yaz for my PMDD. First, it was pretty normal: nausea, headache, and sore boobs. Then the second week hit, and I completely lost my appetite, lost all sex drive, and felt awful mentally and emotionally. I would feel depressed and anxious right when I woke up and would have breakdowns every day in the middle of the day. Once nighttime came, I felt numb and lazy. My PMDD wasn’t good before getting on Yaz, but it was at least manageable. I felt like my reality changed, I didn’t feel normal. I didn’t get my period while on it. I called my doctor to see if these symptoms would persist, and she suggested I wait a couple of months because my symptoms were normal...but later that day, I had a panic attack and decided to get off ASAP. It’s been 3 days since I stopped (was on it for exactly two weeks), and I feel slight relief knowing it was the Yaz that made me feel so awful, but I still have the bad thoughts and anxiety, and my appetite isn’t back. Hoping I feel normal again soon."

For Birth Control "In June, I was diagnosed with PCOS, and my doctor put me on Yaz to help regulate my periods and get rid of my excess facial hair growth. I started taking it at the beginning of July, and it was easily the worst month of my life. I’m 18, and I had never used birth control before. I was expecting the basic side effects, but it was so much worse than that. I have had bad anxiety and depression in the past, but it was always something I felt I could handle. But as soon as I started taking Yaz, everything went downhill quickly. I had anxiety attacks every day, I had no motivation to get off the couch and clean up. It was horrible. I cried every day and even started to feel suicidal. To make it worse, it gave me horrible nausea to the point where I stopped eating for days, and I could barely swallow the pill. My sister said she had a similar experience taking Yaz. I wouldn’t recommend."

For Birth Control "This is my first month on Yaz, and the first two weeks were horrible. I got REALLY nauseous every day at the same time, but now I feel really good. I don’t feel as irritated or annoyed as usual, and I haven’t gained weight, which I was worried about. If it’s your first month, beware drinking on Yaz, and you feel like rubbish when you drink, but just push through it because it gets better."

For Birth Control "I'm on Yaz for 18 days now. I struggled with a sudden, constant acne breakout on my chin (hormones). The doctor prescribed Yaz, especially to help with the acne. I am very happy with how the pill improved my skin. I've noticed I can't drink the pill on an empty stomach (otherwise I am really nauseous). The only side effect I experience is the constant swelling of breasts. Some days it's very sensitive, other days not. Yaz works differently for every person."

For Acne "I am currently in my 6th month of taking Yaz, and if I'm honest, my acne has gotten worse. Worse than what it was prior to starting Yaz. I am so disappointed as I went on to Yaz with high hopes. I have cystic acne all around my chin and my forehead, not to mention my skin and hair are oilier than ever, which doesn't make sense as Yaz is supposed to decrease the body's oil production. I am at a point where I am about to seek help from a dermatologist. Aside from Yaz not having a single positive impact on my acne, it has been great otherwise. No nasty side effects such as weight gain, headaches, nausea, etc. I am willing to keep going with Yaz until the new year, but if no change is seen by January, I will be changing pills."

For Birth Control "I started taking Yaz for my extremely painful periods. I got on birth control when I was 14 because my periods were so heavy and painful that I was practically paralyzed for the first two days. I tried a countless number of birth controls and also Nexplanon, which made me gain 20 kilos, got aches for the first time in my life, gave me a nonstop period for three years, and I became very irritable and mean. I got on Yaz to help with my weight gain and emotional issues as well as my painful and long periods, and it seemed to clear up my aches, and I started losing weight, but after taking it for over six months, I’ve started to get little bumps around my chin, and I’m very emotional. My periods are shorter but extremely painful again. And I’m having a lot of nausea when I’m on my period now and have also been experiencing memory loss."

For Birth Control "I have only been on Yaz for 1 week now, though I already feel like it has done wonders. I suffer very badly with PMS, so bad that I can make life-changing decisions within a week of getting my period as well as hating life, not dealing with everyday duties and having zero motivation. I am always active, generally a happy, positive person, though I found as I get older, the worse my symptoms get. I have tried NuvaRing and Implanon, both with bad side effects. With Yaz, I feel a calmness and feel I'm in control. I'm happy again and wake up motivated, so far, the only side effect has been a little breast tenderness and nausea. I'm sure this will pass. I agree each pill is different and for different women, I would definitely recommend!"

For Birth Control "So far, so good! I've been on this pill for about three months now, and the only side effects I had were nausea within the first few weeks of taking the pill and an increase in boob size (not complaining). I previously struggled with weight gain with other brands of the pill, as well as heart palpitations, mood swings, and severe bloating. My skin has never looked better on Yaz, too!! People have said it's glowing. I loooove Yaz!"

For Acne "I started using Yaz 3 months ago. Yes, it has helped my horrific acne, but along with that come other side effects. My breasts have gotten larger, and I have lost weight (gained from quitting smoking). But I'm extremely tired in the morning, nauseated, feel like vomiting, headaches that turn into migraines, and lack of sex drive. I'm waiting till the end of this cycle to decide which side of the fence I want to be."

For Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder "I did have stubborn acne and hair loss for years, and I was diagnosed with PCOS, but never considered OCP as my period was 'regular.' When it became irregular for 2 months, I considered Yaz, and this is a lifesaver for me. It improved my skin, reduced my hair loss, my period became lighter, and that severe chronic pain is gone (which, to my doctor seemed to be endometriosis, as the pill improved my chronic abdominal pain). I didn't know that I have PMDD, but after reading, I knew it. I will get severely depressed and suicidal in a cyclical way and have zero energy, but now I am much better. I know it has risks, but what I was going through was disabling. For side effects: I had spotting for a whole month, then it improved to a few light spots, I had headache, nausea, and breast pain for a month, then all improved, so you have to wait and see how your body reacts to it."

For Birth Control "I haven't been on the pills for a month yet, 3 weeks, and I'm going to try and stay on them for at least 2 months, and if I don't see an improvement, I'm probably going to change my prescription. I feel nauseous at least 30 minutes a day, and now that I've gotten my period, it's gotten 10x worse. Good helps for maybe 10 short minutes, and I'm back to feeling gross and sick. I'm constantly tired, yet it's so difficult for me to sleep. And my cramps have gotten worse, I didn't even think it was possible. My back and abdomen cramp at the same time (that's usual), and normally the only way to get rid of them is heat, so I take a bath, and not even that is helping, and of course, the heat would make me more nauseous. Has anyone had this problem?"
