For Birth Control "I’ve been on Ocella for about a year and 7 months. I was put on it after I took Loestrin Fe 1/20 due to breakthrough bleeding after 6 months of taking it. Ocella never gave me any noticeable side effects. No weight gain/loss, no depression or anxiety. Periods always on time. And it 100% prevented pregnancy. The only side effect that I still barely get is slight nausea if I am awake super early. It tremendously helped my acne, and my periods are always on time. Remember, every person will have different effects on their body, but I feel as if this will reassure some people on it. However, the one thing I just started noticing was the blood clot and DVT risk being higher in BC’s containing drospirenone, so with that being said, I will be looking into changing to a different brand (only because I’m a worrier about stuff like this)."

For Birth Control "I have been on Gianvi for 8 months now. At first, I was an emotional wreck, like almost all the reviews on here, but after your body gets used to the added hormone, it does go away. It took about 3 months for the acne to go away also. After about the 3-month mark, Gianvi was perfect for me. I have no bloating when my period starts, my period is perfectly on schedule, less cramping and bleeding than before, no more migraines, and no mood swings. It's almost like I'm not even on my period anymore. But, as someone said before, you have to try it to know if it'll work for you."

For Birth Control "I was on Ortho Tri for 4 years but was starting to have some breakthrough bleeding issues with it, so my doctor put me on Yaz. I'm a broke graduate student, so I went on Gianvi instead. I keep seeing all these negative reviews on here about it, but I LOVE Gianvi. My acne has almost gone away, and my cramps have lessened. I did, however, have some issues adjusting to a 4-day period instead of a week-long one, but after a few months, that straightened out. I love Gianvi and have been on it for 6 months without issue."

For Birth Control "I started out on Yasmin but had to switch to Ocella since I have no prescription coverage. Between the two, I was on them for over 2 years. In that time, I gained 20 pounds. After I switched to Ocella, while I was taking it, my moods were level, but the first day without the pill, I felt completely out of control of my emotions and on an emotional roller coaster to the point of having to leave work a few times, which is not me at all! Once I got my period, it was better, but I didn't look forward to the next month. After a crazy month of breakthrough bleeding, emotional ups and downs, and feeling like I was going crazy, I asked my doctor to switch me to something else. My sister had the same symptoms within a month or two, and so did friends."

For Birth Control "I've been on Yaz for 3 months. The heavy bleeding, agony, and cramps have all stopped, plus the cravings. Although I feel very low and depressed. I seem to be overly sensitive and raw all the time. It's becoming harder to contain myself around loved ones as I am so emotional and seem to snap at everything and everyone. I would seriously recommend whether this is the right option if you suffer from mental health issues or you are prone to it. I generally do feel anxious without the pill, although I have been feeling depressed recently, and it's dreadful."

For Birth Control "I have been bleeding for 103 days straight. Not just spotting. Bleeding. I have zero desire, so my relationship has suffered. I was prescribed this medication to no longer have periods and to help with cramps. This has helped with nothing."

For Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder "I went on Yaz for 4 years starting from the age of 14, then switched off because of mid-cycle bleeding. I went on Tri Cyclen Lo for a couple of years, took a break from the pill for a couple of years, then went back on Yaz this February. I now understand why I was chronically depressed and suicidal during my teenage years, and why it coincidentally 'went away' when I switched pills. I gradually got worse and worse this time around, and I turned into a nightmare for my workplace, school, and my family. Uncontrollable crying spells all day, considering actually following through with suicide, and utter exhaustion/sleeping all day. I went off two weeks ago, and everyone noticed the difference. I'm happy again without the slightest hint of depression. This drug is frightening, even some celebrities have pinned their suicidal/depressive episodes on Yaz. Oh, and FYI, it doesn't even clear up your skin the way they market it as. My skin cleared up beautifully once I was off it."

For Birth Control "Last year, I had to start the pill due to an irregular menstrual cycle. My gynecologist recommended I take this brand for 6 months. I was always the happiest and brightest person. I would be the one to cheer people up and make their day. This pill gave me depression. It took away my identity. I was on it for 4 months, and I would have extreme mood swings every single day. I had to stop taking it due to severe spotting for the last 2 months of it. I would bleed every day and a heavy amount too. I gained so much weight (10-15 pounds) and was very bloated. My appetite was amplified to the max. There wasn’t a single moment when I didn’t have food in my mouth. I tried to stay on Yaz, but it was an absolute disaster. I didn’t realize why these awful changes were happening to me. After I got off of it due to heavy spotting, I realized my mood improved. This pill ruined my life. I still have depression, and I resent this brand for giving it to me."

For Birth Control "Generally, I do not complain about birth control until I’ve taken it for at least 3 months. This time, I couldn’t do it. I only lasted a month. Syeda made me heavily bleed and cramp the entire month. I also had huge cysts around my jawline. I’m someone that usually researches before agreeing to take a medication. I wish I had. Syeda has been ineffective for some people, resulting in pregnancy. Although it only happened to that same person twice while taking Syeda, it’s enough to scare me away, especially for making me virtually useless for an entire month. I just advise some caution."

For Acne "I started taking this drug because of moderate to severe adult acne (I am 28) and PMS symptoms (severe depression episodes and irritability that happened like clockwork the week before menstruation). I have been on the pill a month and a half, and I have already seen an improvement. Regarding acne, I broke out a little bit in the placebo week, but besides that, I no longer get the severe acne I used to. I expected it to take at least a few months, so I was pleasantly surprised to see an effect. I also had a light period and did not notice mood swings. I had breakthrough bleeding during the first few weeks, at the beginning more severe and diminishing with time. On the second cycle, there is no bleeding anymore."

For Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder "I loved this pill. I was taking it for PMDD as well as very painful and heavy periods. I took it for about three months with no side effects except my breasts grew a full cup size and were incredibly sensitive. Then on my fourth month, I had breakthrough bleeding the whole month! I wish this hadn't happened as I was really happy with Yaz. My doctor just switched me to Yasmin, so we will see!"

For Birth Control "I've been taking a generic version of Yasmin for the past 4 months (almost 5). I've had issues with breakthrough bleeding before, and Yasmin resolved that issue completely in the 2nd month. However, starting towards the end of month 2, I noticed that my hair has lost a lot of volume, and I have bald spots in areas that were once full of growth (I have naturally thick, curly hair that grows quickly). I've also heard of a lot of people losing an incredible amount of hair once going off Yasmin, but for those people, Yasmin was helpful in promoting hair growth."

For Acne "I started taking this because I would get one or two cystic pimples near the time of my period that would lead to bad scarring. I figured I would give Gianvi a try since it is known for treating hormonal acne. I have only been on it for two months. Although I have read that it can take at least three months or longer to fully adjust, I am going to stop taking it. I’ve tried a few different birth control pills before, but this one has been the worst for me. I have experienced irregular bleeding, bad headaches that can last days at a time, weight gain, and the worst acne I’ve ever had in my life. All of these symptoms have made me depressed. Maybe I should’ve waited another month to see, but it wasn’t worth it to me. Everyone reacts differently, so you have to try it out for yourself. I’ve read that some girls had their skin clear up in two weeks. Sadly, I did not have a positive experience on this birth control."

For Birth Control "No significant weight gain, no cramping during period, period lasts for a shorter amount of time, no heavy bleeding (no spotting, either). Overall, I'm very happy with Ocella. I'm 24 and have been taking it for 5 years. At this point, I'm not even sure how my body would react to not being on birth control since it has been so long."

For Birth Control "I started Yasmin three months ago after having the Implanon (contraceptive implant) for about 5 years. I switched over because I had started to experience irregular bleeding, and just to mention, because a lot of women worry about weight, on that contraception I was both overweight and underweight at different times just due to my eating and lifestyle (I don't think contraception made a difference). So far my experience of Yasmin has been good, I never had acne, but I swear overnight and since starting it, I have not had one more pimple, and my skin has just felt a lot nicer (not too dry, not too oily). I had the initial nausea for about 2 or 3 days and the occasional breast tenderness, but hey, that's to be expected when you are changing your hormones!"

For Acne "I used Diane for years, but my doctor switched me to Yasmin because I was experiencing breakthrough bleeding. Have been on Yasmin for six months, and I really do not feel like myself, with consistent moderate depression and angry mood swings. So odd because I am normally a happy-go-lucky person! I was using Diane largely for my acne, and it worked, but Yasmin has not done anything for my acne either - I have at least two new whiteheads every morning I wake up, which also does not help with the depression! I will be switching back to Diane and exploring other options to address breakthrough bleeding at the end of this cycle."

For Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder "I've suffered from severe premenstrual dysphoric disorder my entire adult life. Yaz has been wonderful for me. I began taking it nearly 2 years ago. It took some time for my body to adjust to Yaz, probably more than 6 months. The main side effect for me was heavy bleeding. I've found Yaz to be wonderful as long as I take it religiously at the same time each day, within 1-2 hours. Deviation seems to bring on side effects. I recently switched from taking it before bed to taking it in the morning. The PMS mid-cycle was terrible. I may have to add a low dose of Prozac to help me through the adjustment."

For Birth Control "I've taken other birth control pills to treat my acne, and this one is the worst that I've been taking so far, and I hope to stop it as soon as possible. The pills significantly decreased my menstrual blood flow. However, I've been bleeding straight for half a month. I doubt if this works on acne. Immediately after taking my first pill, I had another severe acne breakout. I was at my home on spring break, and I'm sure the breakout isn't from stress or the lack of sleep."

For Birth Control "I have been on Yaz for five years now and LOVE it. I've had no issues, and it kept the major cramps, acne, and babies away. I started at 16 and am now 21. I actually have to switch because I've been having breakthrough bleeding a lot, but this is the first time in five years I've had to deal with it. Might just be from my hormones changing with getting older. I'm very sad I'll be leaving Yaz and will be sure to return to it if this next one doesn't work. It's treated me great!"

For Birth Control "I am 21, very fit and active. Although I've had two kids, I only weigh about 140, and I work out daily (4-5 days a week). I walk 3.5 miles a day and go to the gym. I began taking Zarah in hopes that it wouldn't cause weight gain, however, I have gained 5 lbs in the first week. Not to mention I cannot lose the weight no matter how hard I try! Keep in mind I also diet. I have retained so much fluid, and this medicine caused crazy mood swings and irritability. I also bled when I wasn't on my period. I stopped using Zarah about a week ago... I've lost those 5 lbs, no more mood swings, and I feel much better."

For Birth Control "I found this pill at the start to be amazing and fit me the best. But later, I discovered it is not for me. I'm now switching pills to see if I can bring back my old self. I have taken Yaz for 14 months and am now taking my month, which will make it 15 months. To say I'm tired is not the word, and shifting weight is near impossible. I have exercised and dieted with nothing more than a pound gained or the scale not moving. I also have in-between bleeding. After taking the 15th day, I am guaranteed brown discharge and then some spotting, which I shouldn't be getting. My period now has been the worst I have ever gotten in a long time."

For Birth Control "I've never had a problem with birth control until I started taking Syeda. Worst pill for my body, and I'm worried it won't protect against pregnancy. I have so much acne-new ones come every day! Bleeding all month, so tired, can't stop eating, migraines increased, and major insomnia. I've gained a lot of weight in 2 months. Took for 2 months and just stopped. My doctor said my Nikki birth control wasn't covered anymore by insurance, so she put me on Syeda. If it has the same ingredients as Yasmine and Yasmine was recalled because they found it doesn't prevent pregnancy efficiently, then why would anyone take this??"

For Birth Control "This is the worst drug I have ever taken. Two weeks after taking it, my breasts swelled up, they were so painful I can hardly work... I had problems bleeding last night, and I feel most of my body itching... my waist hurts... my energy levels are so low it feels like I am so sick... I feel cold and depressed... I never felt so bad."

For Acne "I am currently on my second pack of Yaz, only a few days left. I have had a few horrible side effects. Firstly, since starting Yaz, I have had 3 extreme yeast infections due to the pill. To add, my vagina is not lubricated anymore, it's very dry and I struggle to have sex, it is painful. The pill has weakened my immune system, giving me tonsillitis and a cold sore (which I haven't had in 4 years now). I am bleeding in between when the fake period is supposed to occur. I have a constant sore lump in my left boob. It has made me depressed and irritated. As for my skin - it has stayed the same. I am thinking of stopping the pill after this second pack because clearly my body does not like it. It has made sex unenjoyable, and I can barely do it due to yeast infections and no lubrication! Just want my normal body back - I don't think it is worth going through all this for clear skin. I am worried that my vagina will not go back to its normal state if I continue on this pill."

For Birth Control "I have been on Syeda for 11 months now, and it works for me! I started taking a generic for Yaz years ago for acne, and in the past few years, started taking it consistently to skip my period. The original pill I was on (2mg/0.02mg) would cause breakthrough bleeding/spotting every month around when my period would be. After a year, ultrasounds, breaks (3-14 days), I kept having the once-a-month spotting that would happen on and off forever until I took a 3-day break (super heavy flow during break). No changes in acne for me, increased weight, and mood swings that went away after 1 month. Now I only have spotting at the 3/4 month mark, and as soon as I see a spot of blood, I take a 3-pill break. If I don’t take the break, I will spot on and off until I take the break. After the break, I won’t spot again for another 3/4 months. I tried another pill that was supposed to help breakthrough bleeding, but it gave me acne and depression. No pills, and my acne came back. Also not pregnant either."
