Drospirenone / ethinyl estradiol for Birth Control "MOST USELESS PILLS EVER!! I took Ocella for years, and my periods were light and guaranteed to start Placebo Pill Tuesday or Wednesday. My insurance company started making us do mail delivery in ‘18 or ‘19 and changed my pills to a generic that didn’t even have a name, then started sending me Syeda in ‘19, and in May of ‘19, it’s like I’m not even on birth control pills anymore. I randomly start spotting, bloating, and cramping at some point during the 3rd week of active pills and have absolutely NO idea when or if I’ll start my period and have started my period while still on the active pills! I’ve started on Placebo Pill Monday, occasionally Wednesday, but mostly Thursday or Friday. Starting on Tuesday has completely stopped. My flow is absolutely unpredictable. My Ob-Gyn has me taking Lysteda to control the heavy bleeding that starts on day 1, and length ranges from 4 to 9 days and has even gone for 3 straight weeks. These are seriously the worst pills."

Drospirenone / ethinyl estradiol for Birth Control "I’m a young woman myself, and I started Yasmin after my 17th birthday, and it was the worst experience of my life. I experience bleeding constantly for 2 months, developed anemia, and suffered severe depression. I was immediately taken off this pill and now have to endure years of taking antidepressants. I don’t advise young women to take this pill."

For Menstrual Disorders "My periods have gotten longer over the last year. My doctor suggested Mirena or the pill. I figured it would help balance my hormones and shorten my 7-8 day periods. I started taking Gianvi, and not long after taking it, I felt severely depressed. I had nausea, vomiting, fatigue, was lightheaded, had stomach pains, and heavy bleeding with blood clots. I bled through clothes and constantly had to use the bathroom. After 10 days of bleeding along with the other miserable symptoms, I called my Gyn. She told me to go to the ER if I felt lightheaded. I decided to go and discovered I had small fibroids. Even though the ER doc told me to finish the pack, I decided not to (I was 15 days in). I did some research on Yaz and found a lot of women suffering with the same symptoms. It’s crazy that taking a pill for only 15 days can wreak such havoc on your body. I’m going on day 17 of bleeding, and it’s finally getting lighter. Worst experience ever!"

Drospirenone / ethinyl estradiol for Birth Control "I've been on this birth control, Nikki, for only about 2 weeks. I can already tell the difference in my mood. I'm more irritable now and less of my happy self. I can't even tell when I had my period because I have had heavy bleeding since I started this medication. I am going to finish the pack, but after that, I'm done with this medication. I can't keep buying pads for this heavy bleeding. It's definitely not worth it to me."

Drospirenone / ethinyl estradiol for Birth Control "I was on it for 2 months and got extremely moody, emotional, anxious, and tired. I went to my OBGYN and asked her if I should stop it. I was told to give it more time. I am normally a bubbly, happy person, so I wasn't sure what was going on. Nevertheless, I stopped the pill because I didn't need it. After I got off it, I had the best 6 months of my life where I was happy and confident. I started dating someone and went on the pill again 5 weeks ago. I started feeling insecure, anxious, paranoid, and started believing and accusing him of not being into me and got mad at him over little things. I had heavy bleeding for 2 weeks straight, and a week before my period, I went into depression and had severe migraines. Will not take this drug ever again."

Drospirenone / ethinyl estradiol for Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder "This Nikki contraceptive pill is horrible! I had been taking Gianvi or Loryna for years, and suddenly my pharmacy gave me this stuff instead. I have been tired, moody, cramping, and bleeding since I started this stuff 2 weeks ago! Unfortunately, my insurance will only authorize refills from their online pharmacy, and this is all they claim they have right now. Stay away from this stuff if at all possible."

Drospirenone / ethinyl estradiol "Nikki contraceptive pill is truly terrible. I usually take Loryna or Yaz, but Nikki was available for much cheaper and was supposed to be the same, according to the pharmacy. It wasn't for me. I only took the pills for about a week and experienced mood swings, paranoia, and breakthrough bleeding. I went back to the pharmacy and ended up paying full price for Yaz just to try to get back to normal. Although the mood swings have stopped, I have now been on my period for two weeks, so I have no idea how long it will take to fully recover from the awful effects of Nikki."

Drospirenone / ethinyl estradiol for Birth Control "I have been on Ocella for about 3 years, and I have loved it. Never had any problems: cleared my skin, breasts grew, periods were light, sex drive was not really affected. In the past few months, though, I have seen a lot more breakthrough bleeding, leading to almost 2-week long periods (not fun), so I am switching."

Drospirenone / ethinyl estradiol for Birth Control "DO NOT GO ON YAZ! My doctor prescribed me Yaz as I was having trouble with my skin and heavy periods. Before Yaz, I was on Levlen, which I highly recommend. After taking Yaz for one month, I got side effects such as fainting, always dizzy, lots of discharge, breakthrough bleeding, and my skin looks horrible. I read the reviews on this website and thought I’d try it, what’s the worst that can happen? Please don’t try Yaz, it's horrific. It’s made me go off birth control altogether."

Drospirenone / ethinyl estradiol for Birth Control "I just got switched to Vestura 3 months ago after being on a different birth control for 4.5 years. I had to switch because my health insurance no longer covered a single penny of my birth control. The only benefit of Vestura is that it is 100% covered. However, since starting this medication 3 months ago, I have gained 10 pounds, I have debilitating migraines every day, I am constantly nauseous, I have acne worse than a prepubescent teenager, and I have hardly stopped bleeding since being on it. I have an extremely severe case of PCOS, so switching to a generic birth control like Vestura was definitely not a good idea."

Drospirenone / ethinyl estradiol for Birth Control "I've been on this Ocella for 3 weeks, and currently now on the 3rd week I've been bleeding heavily for 4 days straight (breakthrough bleeding? With lots of clots?), which is highly irritating, and I'm already wanting to stop the medication. Doesn't seem normal."

Drospirenone / ethinyl estradiol for Birth Control "I was on Yasmin for about 5 years, had no serious problems with it, and it worked great as a form of birth control. I gained weight, but not sure if the pill is to blame. I had irritable mood swings, but nothing too bad. The one biggest side effect for me that made me switch was the migraines I was getting while taking the placebos. Each and every month, I would have migraines while on my period. But other than that, I love this pill, my periods were always on time, I had short 3-4 day periods with minimal cramping. I have just started taking Levora, which my doctor recommended taking 3 straight months and then having my period to minimize the migraines. So far, I've had breakthrough bleeding and heavy as well for about a week. I hope it gets better."

Drospirenone / ethinyl estradiol for Birth Control "I’ve been on Yaz for almost 2 months, and I hate it. I have heightened smell. I’ve actually thrown up due to it. I’m noticing my mood swings are going from 0-10 really quick, my poor boyfriend has also noticed. I’ve broken out so badly with acne, and I’ve also been spotting now for almost 2 weeks, now becoming heavier bleeding and cramps. Going to switch pills as I feel disgusting and can’t even be intimate with my dang birth control, so Yaz has been a huge waste of time for this girl."

Drospirenone / ethinyl estradiol for Birth Control "The absolute worst birth control that I have EVER taken! I had to stop taking this pill halfway through the pack because of the side effects. One day I found myself crying totally out of nowhere, I was also becoming depressed, which is very uncommon for me, being that I'm a pretty jovial person. Another terrible factor for me was the heavy bleeding even after my period had ended. I already have extremely heavy and painful menstrual cycles as it is, so the fact that I was bleeding even more was a no-go for me. My appetite fluctuated from day to day, but I still gained a few pounds. I'll be switching to a different one ASAP."

Drospirenone / ethinyl estradiol for Birth Control "I was on the implant for 3 years after getting diagnosed with PCOS. I bled constantly. I had a horrible mood, acne, etc. My OBGYN uses this for 'her PCOS girls' and pretty much has had success with all. This pill has changed my life. Anyone experiencing PCOS, look into L."

Drospirenone / ethinyl estradiol for Birth Control "This has been the worst experience of my life. I’m doing nothing but bleeding and bleeding and bleeding constantly for the past 5 months. Coming from someone who used to have bad anxiety and overcame it mostly, it has made me have anxiety attacks a few times a week. I feel a lack of motivation. I don’t know if that’s due to my constant period or the medicine. I’ve never had a good experience with any BC pill or depo shot."

Drospirenone / ethinyl estradiol for Birth Control "The good news: my boobs are bigger, and the acne around my chin area has subsided. Bad news: I've gained weight, and I'm always bloated. I've always had a flat stomach, but ever since I started taking the pill, I'm 24/7 bloated. All hell broke loose this weekend when I literally thought I was being possessed by the devil. I started bleeding heavily, and the cramping was relentless and unbearable. After a night out, I came home and was overwhelmed with depression and anxiety. I was hypersensitive to every sound, and I cried for 3 hours for God knows what reason. I'm hesitant to start this new pack after that hellish episode."

Drospirenone / ethinyl estradiol for Birth Control "Was on Ortho Tri-Cyclen for four months, which gave me unbearable cystic acne that I've never experienced before. My cheeks/jawline became 80% swollen, red, and covered in painful acne. But now, after two weeks, Vestura has cleared my skin, just waiting for these terrible red marks to fade. My breasts have gotten smaller, which is a bummer, but so far, so good. No bloating or breakthrough bleeding! Everyone is different, so it's worth trying, even if something has been reviewed or didn't work for some people."

Drospirenone / ethinyl estradiol for Menstrual Disorders "I am suffering from an irregular menstrual cycle, heavy flow, intolerable cramps, and mood swings. I went to a doctor, and she found that I had myoma in my uterus; it has been causing the heavy flow and pain. She put me on Yasmin, saying that it will ease the pain, decrease my flow, and make the cycle regular. The first pack made me so miserable because I couldn't stop bleeding; I bled for 29 days straight with heavy flow, like it was the first day of my period. The doctor made me stop taking it because I was bleeding too much; she said that my body is reacting too much to the pill. Other than this, decreased appetite, better mood, bigger boobs. Couldn't see a difference in my acne."

Drospirenone / ethinyl estradiol for Menstrual Disorders "I had such a horrible experience with this birth control. The first week was fine. Week 2 to month 2, I bled the entire time, and it wasn't breakthrough bleeding, it was full-on period for two months. As soon as I stopped it, within 4 days, I completely stopped bleeding. I only give it two stars because it helped my light acne. This birth control is horrible for trying to regulate or stop periods."

Drospirenone / ethinyl estradiol for Birth Control "I was diagnosed with PCOS in January 2018. My doctor prescribed Yasmin 28 to take for 1 year. I started the pill in February 2018. During the first week, I experienced dry mouth and loss of appetite. However, that passed. During the week of my scheduled period, I experienced heavy to severe bleeding for the first 4 days of my period. Another side effect that I felt was vaginal itching and discharge. However, I started taking probiotic pills daily and that subsided immediately. Between the months of February and up to this present moment, I have felt depressed and anxious. I don't think Yasmin 28 is worth it, especially based on how it's been making me feel. I officially stopped taking Yasmin 28 4 days ago. I hope my depressed and anxious moods will improve."

Drospirenone / ethinyl estradiol for Birth Control "First of all, this pill will make you think you are pregnant by giving you all the symptoms of pregnancy. I had breakthrough bleeding for over a week, and I just today stopped taking this birth control because of it. It made me depressed again. It made me uncontrollably mad for no reason, I just can’t control my anger. So, time to switch to a different one."

Drospirenone / ethinyl estradiol for Birth Control "I've been on birth control since I was 16, now 22. I've tried 3 birth controls before Ocella. All previous ones had breakthrough bleeding, mood swings, and one gave me out-of-control yeast infections. That's when I switched to Ocella: zero acne, I skip my period, no breakthrough bleeds, no weight gain besides 3 pounds and a little bloating every so often. Best part: no pregnancy scares for the last 2 years. Love the protection and stability it's supplied! I will say I've experienced intermittent anxiety on it, might try another kind if it continues. Hope this helped. Worth a try, it's kept me safe, happy, and acne/pregnancy free."
