For Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder "I'd been taking Gianvi for 4 years, and I loved it. But I was forced to switch to Nikki last year since all of the pharmacies where I live stopped carrying Gianvi, and I'm not happy. It does fine at regulating my cycle but does not help with my cramps (I have endometriosis, though, so take that into consideration). It also does a pretty good job keeping my PMDD under control, but I'm also taking an antidepressant, so that works against my depressive mood swings as well. It's not great with preventing acne, I've been getting a lot of hormonal cystic acne. However, my big complaint is that I have been getting frequent intense headaches and menstrual migraines since I started Nikki. I can live with cramps, mood swings, and acne, but these headaches put me out of commission, and it's interrupting my life. However, because of my PMDD, I have to be on this specific pill, and I can't afford name brand. My advice is to avoid this pill if you can, especially if you're switching from another BC."

For Birth Control "I was switched to this from Vestura because Walgreens stopped carrying it. I didn't notice much of a difference. Seems to work fine (not pregnant), I get the occasional headache, and my period has remained regular and has become very light. Don't ever spot or get crazy acne. I like that the Vestura came in a little pouch, and this one is a pack with a cardboard flip front."

For Birth Control "I was originally put on TriSprintec to help with acne, and it made it severely worse, so my doctor switched me to Nikki almost a month ago. I had slight nausea when on TriSprintec, but now it's terrible, and I can barely eat. I also get cramping and headaches."

For Birth Control "This medicine was a nightmare. It started off with swelling of my throat. Then came the headaches. Then the vomiting. For hours at a time. My stomach lining was destroyed from throwing up bile, and it will take years to recover. Horrible medication."

For Birth Control "I wish I could say I loved it, but unfortunately, it wasn’t for me. I switched to this from Sprintec (that didn’t work at all for me; I was ovulating through it). With this one, I experienced horrible headaches, night sweats during my first ever pill pack, severe stomach aches to the point where I was almost throwing up for hours each day, insomnia, leg cramps, and I could go on. It did regulate my period, which went from a horrible 7-day long painful ordeal to four days, but I couldn’t continue on this due to all the side effects."

For Birth Control "Terrible! I've only been on Nikki for a week, and every day I wake up with an awful headache. I have literally gone through half a bottle of Tylenol in a week. I absolutely do not recommend this BC, find anything else."

For Birth Control "I am 33 and have been on BC ever since I was 18. I was on Gianvi (Yaz generic) for the last several years. I have been on this Nikki birth control (BC) for a week. Like other reviews, I’m getting weird hot flashes, and my chest and face are getting red. I’m waking up at 3 a.m. STARVING, as if I haven’t eaten in days. I gained 3.5 lbs in the first weekend of being on it! I have headaches, getting really tired, and not really vomit-nauseous, but like almost feeling like I’m hungover when I haven’t drunk in days. Unfortunately, in the wonderful world of insurance, I have to wait until the end of this month to switch back to Gianvi. Not sure why the formula is so different, but I totally agree with the others this is not a good pill formula. Good luck!"

For Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder "I was taking Gianvi for seven years and had zero complaints, but I, like many others, was forcibly switched to Nikki. And I hate it. I took it for 6 months. During that time, I developed intense chronic headaches (at least half of each cycle was spent with a debilitating headache). It didn't do much to help with cramps or acne. It was actually okay with treating my PMDD, but I literally couldn't function because the headaches were so bad. Finally stopped taking it because I couldn't live like that anymore. It's worth it to deal with my PMDD and endometriosis without that pill, which is saying a lot."

For Acne "I got Nikki from my dermatologist as my acne got so, so bad to the point that I didn't want to walk out without any makeup on. I threw up like 3 times a week, and I never felt good, also, I always wanted to sleep and had terrible headaches."

For Birth Control "I wanted Nikki to work for me, I really did. The first month or two was great. No acne, no weight gain, nothing. Then, about three months in, I had maybe one good week out of the month. After that, I was emotional, depressed, and having suicidal thoughts daily. Headaches and breast soreness/swelling started, as well as other fluid retention. I do appreciate that it still never caused weight gain or acne, if I wasn't so emotional, I would have kept taking it. Everyone is different, so maybe it won't make you emotional."

For Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder "I literally do not recommend Nikki for any female ages 18-25 years old. I’ve been taking it for 6 months, and I cannot tell you how badly it has affected me. The depression was so bad, and my emotions were not in check. I cried if you looked at me wrong or even breathed wrong, I felt like. I’ve been off of it for a week and felt like I’m going through a drug detox: throwing up, headaches, and sweats. I had bruises so dark in a different spot with every set of pills. So please, if you are hesitant, don’t take it. I should have stopped a long time ago because after being off of it for a week, I’m finally myself again."

For Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder "Nikki has improved my life so dramatically. I was on birth control from ages 14 until 27 when I started trying to get pregnant. After my son was born, I decided to stay off the pill and see how I felt. The first year was okay, but then my periods became irregular and I started to have horrible mood swings. I would feel almost euphorically good for a week or so after my period ended and then live in two weeks of nightmare living. (irritability, depression, low energy) I started reading more about PMDD and decided to give this a try. The first three days I had really bad headaches. I have also experienced some nausea and also random increased anxiety, which oddly always seems to happen after eating. Perhaps the anxiety is related to the nausea? Overall, my mood has been much more stable all month long. No highs, lows, or angry outbursts. No weight gain - I think my stomach is actually feeling flatter. I plan to take this for three months continuously."

For Birth Control "I was on Rikka before, and it made me so angry all the time and depressed, so I have gone to my doctor, told her about the irregular moods I had. She had told me Nikki would be a good match for my irregular moods. She said, 'It would help calm the moods down.' I was so excited about it because I wanted to feel normal again. After the first week of taking Nikki, I was calmer, feeling normal. Then, as time has gone by, I have been feeling so bad, depressed, anxiety attacks throughout the day. I will have anxiety attacks six times or more a day, and I will literally cry a lot. When I said A LOT, I MEAN A LOT. I would be more sensitive than ever. The anger I had was so fired up, I would get mad so fast and easier. I really didn't like it. Nikki makes you feel sick, pregnant, bloated, and I would have bad headaches that I wouldn't even process throughout the day. Also, I have been taking Nikki for eight months, and I feel like Nikki changed my whole emotions and me as a person. I thought I was tripping, but it was real."

For Birth Control "I tried Nikki for less than 1 month and for the first week I thought it was good as my old pill, but then, after 10 days I started to have nausea, problems with my eyesight, headaches, and vaginal discharge. I stopped it. This medication didn’t work for my body."

For Birth Control "When I first began, I was on Yaz, then I got switched to Nikki. For at least 6 months, I had no problem. Now I have frequent headaches and nausea. It is like I can have a huge appetite and can't stop eating, or I'm not hungry at all."
