For Nausea/Vomiting "Recently, I went to the emergency room after two days of vomiting and being unable to retain water. At first, I was given Zofran, which I had previously taken for my gallbladder issue and surgery, but it was ineffective in treating my current stomach illness. They then prescribed me Droperidol, which relieved my nausea, but shortly after taking it, I began to feel extremely anxious and uncomfortable. I have experienced anxiety before, but the sensation I felt was unbearable. I felt like I was going to have a heart attack. It took several hours and two doses of Benedryl to bring me back to feeling normal again. I would advise caution when considering taking this medication and to thoroughly consider the potential side effects."

For Nausea/Vomiting "I was having extreme sharp pain in my upper abdomen, liver and GB areas @2 in the AM so I had to be rushed to the ER. After giving me the Droperidol, within the first 2 hours, I felt very groggy & sleepy. Once I woke up, my legs & arms were so restless, I couldn’t keep still or stay in one spot. I was pacing & constantly moving, felt extremely anxious, & was having very hard time breathing & l felt like I was going crazy. My heartbeat was elevated (about 100 bpm). I continued to feel some of the side effects later that day but more intense. My husband called the hospital, told them my symptoms & they told him that all of my side effects were from the Droperidol & for me to take 50 mgs Benadryl. After about an hour, my body & heartbeat finally calmed down & I fell asleep. Come to find out this drug has interactions with 2 other medications I’m on. We were furious that the Dr didn’t check my records before giving it to me. I will NEVER take this med again and I DO NOT recommend!"

For Nausea/Vomiting "I went to the emergency room cause I was having sickle cell pain and the pain meds they was giving me was not working the dr. wanted to try Droperidol. The dr said this can also work for pain even though it’s usually use for nausea and vomiting I was ok with any meds that would take my pain away. Seconds after the nurse gave it to me though the IV my body felt weird my legs and arms was so restless I couldn’t keep still in bed I left my room cause I couldn’t stay in one spot my heart was beating fast , it made me feel real hyper I was really hot. It made me sleepy but my mind and body wouldn’t let me sleep and my pain never went away at all . I went though this for a whole day feeling so horrible ... in my opinion this is not a good drug !"

For Nausea/Vomiting "This medication is hands down the worst thing to exist and I have no idea how or why drs are allowed to use it or giving it to patients. This medication ruined my GI tract and had my heart rate and blood pressure at dangerous levels for DAYS. It’s been a few months now and I’m still dealing with severe constipation from taking this in ER and may be looking at an endoscope."

For Nausea/Vomiting "Given with benadryl for a migraine. Instantly suicidal--could not see any hope. If I wasn't on so much Benadryl I struggled to move, I would have hurt myself or others. The anxiety tapered off but ultimately lasted DAYS after initial dose. Legs felt like jelly and twitchy. I'm on the fourth night since taking it and still experiencing nausea, vertigo, dizziness, loss of appetite. Needed someone to be with me 24/7 for the first 24-30 hours after taking it because I was genuinely afraid of being alone with my thoughts. Constant anxiety and tension. Left the hospital stumbling over my own feet from the effects it has on your legs. Please do not use this drug if possible. If you must, be monitored by people who can help you if necessary. It also did not effectively treat my migraine at all."

For Nausea/Vomiting, Postoperative "I was given this anti nausea drug via an IV after major surgery when I was 12 years old. I had a bad reaction where my eyes were uncontrollably rolling in the back of my head. I had no pain and was not clenching my jaw, and had zero muscle spasms or anything like that. But I remember actively trying to get my eyes to stop rolling upward and I couldn’t. It was very scary for a 12 year old! Thankfully my parents saw it immediately and the nurse gave me Benadryl to stop the reaction. I do not recommend lol"

"I was given this in the ER at the hospital for explosive anger and constant anxiety attacks. I was given it by shot and I immediately began panicking, hyperventilating so bad my chest was violently rising up and down, my legs and arms were restless to the point I needed to explode out of my body, and I kept dancing around to get rid of the feeling, I was sweating, screaming at the top of my lungs to get this out of my system, I actually ran from the room and proceeded to walk around the ER, skip and stuff doing weird movements. One nurse decided to inject me with Ativan and I instantly calmed down and eventually fell asleep, the panicky restless feeling went away as soon as I woke up and I was nothing but calm when I went home. Crazy drug. No positive reviews from me."

For Nausea/Vomiting "Droperidol was the worst experience of my life medically: It gave me hallucinations; couldn’t talk; felt like a seizure; lasted for approx. 4-6 hours. Checked out of ER AMA after this and laying in urine for 3 hours"

Inapsine (droperidol) for Nausea/Vomiting "I receive inapsine or droperidol in an ER visit to assess a small gastric bleed related to gastroparesis. The nausea and vomiting had persisted for 2 days. However, within 10 minutes of the drug administration, I became severely restless and unable to remain in the bed. I suffered the worst episode of restless leg syndrome in my life, but it involved my upper body and arms, too!. I paced, stretched, and moved constantly trying to achieve some comfort. I became repeatedly tangled in the IV tubing. Finally, I relaxed after having received several IV or IM doses of diazepam. I remained awake at home until the following morning."

For Nausea/Vomiting "I went to the ER after having a seizure and giving myself a concussion. I was nauseous and had a splitting headache so they gave me droperidol in an IV with Tordal. The hospital was busy and had no room available so they put me back in the waiting room with my IV (in a wheelchair you can’t move yourself) and the anxiety was out of the world. I felt this overall sense of something is serious wrong. I couldn’t STOP moving. I was so uncomfortable. I was trying to crawl out of my skin. Eventually someone came back to bring me for a CT scan and I was having a serious panic attack. My heart rate through the roof. I just kept thinking about how do I get out of here. And when I was done they brought me BACK to the waiting room and I eventually pulled out my own IV and left without being discharged. I’ve never experienced anything like this and I don’t wish it upon anyone. This drug should not be used. It has been over 24 hours and I still don’t feel normal yet."

"Went to the ER for what I thought was possibly meningitis. Doctor assumed it was a migraine. Nurse never asked and gave me the Droperidol. I noticed her giving something and asked what it was. Was surprised when she said it because I thought it had been taken off the market. Immediately started having anxiety, RLS, hot sweats, absolutely miserable. I had hallucinations, the most bizarre dreams. I couldn’t sleep but I couldn’t keep my eyes open. That was Thursday night and it is now Sunday night and I am absolutely miserable still. Panic attack (which I have never had before) absolutely horrible shaking inside and just dread and relatlessness. I had a similar experience with Reglan but never realized that they would be the same. I will never allow this drug to be given to me again. The doctor gave me Cogentin to try to stop the side effects, but it didn’t work. It has been the most horrible experience."

"Went to ER couple weeks ago for constipation and was fully impacted. Provider gave me this drug for anxiety bc he misdiagnosed asthma as anxiety earlier in year (primary ruled out anxiety/symptoms were verified as asthma related). As soon as drug was given I had trouble breathing, became disoriented, heart palpitations/pounding, and truly felt like I was dying. My bp has been up, disoriented, and worst of all I have a lot of trouble breathing/short of breath now...I’m not sure if/when it will be normal again nor what to do to correct it."

Inapsine (droperidol) for Nausea/Vomiting "I was given inapsine for nausea during delivery by caesarian. While lying on the operating table I developed an extreme case of RLS, restless arms, actually, since my lower body was completely anesthetized. The only relief was flailing my arms and shaking them vigorously. I passed out shortly thereafter and that was the end of that. Fifteen years later I experienced somewhat extreme RLS and immediately recognized it as the same way my arms had felt during delivery (post-inapsine). The RLS continued for months and was likely due to taking sertraline. When I finally made the connection, I tapered off the sertraline and haven't had an episode since. Perhaps those who have RLS due to inapsine are more likely to have the same reaction to SSRIs."

For Nausea/Vomiting "Daughter brought into ED for 2nd time for nausea and abdominal pain. After a bunch of negative tests, they suggested Bentyl and Droperidol. Immediately she became anxious and agitated, restless, and couldn't sit still. Her fibro flared up and her back started hurting. Big behavior change, called the nurse, and he brought in Benadryl, which did help some. It may have decreased her nausea, but not worth the other effects. I don't recommend this med at all"

"I received droperidol along with Benadryl through an IV when I went to get checked out after hitting my head. I had a headache pretty bad still a few hours later and tingling/pain in my left arm, and went to be seen after speaking with a nurse. I am chronically ill with a lot of health issues and on about two dozen meds, but I also don’t respond to drugs well generally. Within about 10 minutes from when I was given the injections, my headache felt a lot better. Incidentally, the chronic pain in my back did too, as well as the pain in other parts of my body. I marveled at how an antipsychotic was able to relieve both my acute and chronic pain significantly for close to 24 hours. Something that no other medication had come close to doing for me. The only side effect(s) I had were a bit of vertigo and a slight change in how my hearing felt at temporarily. These resolved within an hour."

For Nausea/Vomiting "This was hands down one of the best meds I've had. I have had several flares of colitis, and had to go into ER for treatment. This helped w/the nausea and pain instantly!! Yes, I felt a lil groggy, but much better than when I had arrived there! I give it two thumbs up!"

Inapsine (droperidol) for Nausea/Vomiting "I have chronic severe nausea from 5 neck surgeries plus gastroparesis. I was given this in the ER in 1998, and it's the best nausea medicine you can get, in my opinion!"
