For Nausea/Vomiting "I was prescribed this medication in the emergency room for a mild case of nausea, which was not the main reason for my visit. However, within a couple of minutes of taking the medication, I began to writhe uncontrollably, unable to find comfort in anything. I experienced feelings of terror, dread, and extreme despair, and I even contemplated ending my life in any way possible. I am generally a calm person, but this medication had me screaming out loud in panic. My muscles became rigid, my heart rate increased, and I honestly thought I was going to die. I have experienced extreme pain before, but this drug was far worse in every way than any pain I have experienced. I strongly advise against taking this drug. The effects lasted for several days, even after being given Ativan and Benadryl. The experience of taking this drug could easily cause someone to develop PTSD. Please, please do not consent to take this medication when safer alternatives are available."

For Nausea/Vomiting "I get bad migraines with nausea and went to the emergency department for some relief. The doctor initially gave me Toradol and Zofran, along with some Benadryl. That didn't really do much for my migraine, so the doctor suggested droperidol. I was very wary of a new med because I told the doctor I had really bad reactions to Reglan and Immitrex, but they insisted it would help. Lo and behold, within five minutes of the nurse pushing it through my IV, I was feeling extremely panicked and like I wanted to die. My jaw was basically locked shut, and I kept clenching until I thought I'd break some teeth. I kept wanting to rip my IV out and run out of the hospital but was also so groggy that I couldn't communicate my desire to leave to anyone. I also temporarily lost my voice because my vocal cords were spasming from dystonia. It was pure hell, and the only thing that is helping it almost a week later is beta blockers and clonazepam. This drug should be discontinued."

For Nausea/Vomiting "The worst experience of my life, truly. I went to the hospital having severe upper right quadrant pain, accompanied by nausea and vomiting. Literal seconds after the medicine was injected into my IV, I began to feel lightheaded, with trouble standing. Then the anxiety began. The worst feeling I've ever felt. I'm a long-time sufferer of anxiety. This was worse than anything I've ever felt. I thought I was dying. I couldn't sit still. I began to walk around the hospital bathroom while furiously grinding my teeth and waiting for it to stop. I couldn't talk, I couldn't sit still, I couldn't do anything. I tried to sleep, but my body wouldn't allow me to. I was given Benadryl and discharged. Once I arrived home, I had to run around my room, and this led to 6 or so hours of having to get out of bed, walk around for about 5 minutes, and then close my eyes until my body physically wouldn't allow me to sit still. I was hoping and praying it would soon be over."

For Nausea/Vomiting "Given with Benadryl for a migraine. Instantly suicidal--could not see any hope. If I wasn't on so much Benadryl I struggled to move, I would have hurt myself or others. The anxiety tapered off but ultimately lasted DAYS after the initial dose. Legs felt like jelly and twitchy. I'm on the fourth night since taking it and still experiencing nausea, vertigo, dizziness, loss of appetite. Needed someone to be with me 24/7 for the first 24-30 hours after taking it because I was genuinely afraid of being alone with my thoughts. Constant anxiety and tension. Left the hospital stumbling over my own feet from the effects it has on your legs. Please do not use this drug if possible. If you must, be monitored by people who can help you if necessary. It also did not effectively treat my migraine at all."

Droperidol for Nausea/Vomiting "I have been a nurse since 1984 and a paramedic since 1990. In New Orleans, in 1993, while working on an ambulance, I became nauseated and began vomiting. Went home, changed, had someone drive me to the ER at a hospital in Harahan (nice subdivision). I expected to get the usual treatment of IV saline and the safe anti-emetic Phenergan. I told the ER doctor I was very allergic to Reglan. He injects me with Inapsine (Droperidol) because he wants to see how it worked - even though people with allergy to Reglan should never be given Inapsine. I had already been declared clinically dead two years prior in a car accident, but was revived. This so-called drug causes irregular heartbeats. I thought I was going to die. It was much worse than actually dying."

For Nausea/Vomiting "I went to the ER after having a seizure and giving myself a concussion. I was nauseous and had a splitting headache, so they gave me droperidol in an IV with Toradol. The hospital was busy and had no room available, so they put me back in the waiting room with my IV (in a wheelchair you can’t move yourself), and the anxiety was out of this world. I felt this overall sense of something is seriously wrong. I couldn’t STOP moving. I was so uncomfortable. I was trying to crawl out of my skin. Eventually, someone came back to bring me for a CT scan, and I was having a serious panic attack. My heart rate was through the roof. I just kept thinking about how do I get out of here. And when I was done, they brought me BACK to the waiting room, and I eventually pulled out my own IV and left without being discharged. I’ve never experienced anything like this, and I don’t wish it upon anyone. This drug should not be used. It has been over 24 hours, and I still don’t feel normal yet."

"Felt like I wanted to die, I felt so uncomfortable, felt like my skin was crawling, and made me extremely restless. I had extreme nausea, I couldn't think properly, and I felt extremely depressed. I am still having impacts five days later. The stupid hospital gave it to me for “pain,” but it’s definitely not a pain med and should never be used for pain! It made my migraine even worse and gave me more pain and sorrow than before I took it."

Droperidol for Nausea/Vomiting "I received Inapsine or droperidol in an ER visit to assess a small gastric bleed related to gastroparesis. The nausea and vomiting had persisted for 2 days. However, within 10 minutes of the drug administration, I became severely restless and unable to remain in the bed. I suffered the worst episode of restless leg syndrome in my life, but it involved my upper body and arms, too! I paced, stretched, and moved constantly, trying to achieve some comfort. I became repeatedly tangled in the IV tubing. Finally, I relaxed after having received several IV or IM doses of diazepam. I remained awake at home until the following morning."

For Nausea/Vomiting, Postoperative "Do not take this drug. Given to me post-surgery for mild nausea. It made me suicidal, severe anxiety!! It was like living hell. I could not stop pacing the hospital ward, chest pain, blood pressure immediately went up. Suicidal thoughts. Skin crawling, panic. Lasted 3 days. Valium did little to help. I almost ran away from the hospital to try to escape the horror. Worst night of my life."

For Nausea/Vomiting "DO NOT TAKE WHATSOEVER! There are better anti-nausea meds out there. I had read the horrid reviews and that people allergic to Reglan like me shouldn’t take it, but the ER doctor practically forced it on me. This was one of the worst and most traumatic experiences of my life! It makes you feel like you’re not in control of your own body, and everything is cramping and seizing. Not only did it do that, it made me feel like an enraged animal and made my nausea worse. I literally became suicidal because death seemed like a better option than what I was feeling on this medication. I know it all seems overdramatic, but I promise, it’s not. It truly should not be on the market."
