"By far the best medication I have tried for ADHD. It is great for someone who also social anxiety or anxiety in general. With Ritalin I had many negative side effects one of which is anxiety. Dexedrine is great. I do not even need to take my clonazepam (Klonopin) during the day because Dexedrine is so smooth."

"I have ADHD as well as binge eating. This helps me to not make impulsive decisions and I really can think a lot clearer. It really does increase the dopamine because I no longer have that intense urge to eat junk food and buy nice clothes. I can just focus better and I am not procrastinating everything. I used to procrastinate basic tasks like showering or brushing my teeth. It feels so good knowing I'm not lazy but just neurodivergent. And I'm so grateful for this medication. I'm on 10mg twice a day."

"I began treatment for bipolar 2 years ago. It has been successful. I still had severe brain fog, impatience, and lethargy though. Psych dr diagnosed ADHD on top of bipolar. Tried Vyvanse, Ritalin, and Dexedrine. Dex won for me. 10mg in am and 5 at lunch and dinner. Much more patient and clear-headed."

"Works well for my ADD but DON'T ever mix with alcohol! I am an alcoholic who comes from a alcoholic background handed down several generations of my family tree. I take my Dex. as prescribed (5 mg 3x daily, a small dose by choice compared to 45 mg 3x daily when I was younger and not in charge of my own health needs) But when I binge drank I would always mix the alcohol with Dex. up to 50 mg a night so I could keep drinking. Lost many friends, wife, and the the respect of too many due to my actions, aggressions, combativeness stances and so on. Alcoholics beware. I'm sober now and take it one day at a time. I still take my Dex. but ONLY as prescribed. I am 35 and have taken it since age 12."

"My experience is limited since I have only been on this medication for a few days. I am a medical resident, diagnosed with ADHD at 32. Got sick and tired of my mediocre performance at work. Tried Straterra, Viibryd and Wellbutrin, nothing worked. Just started on Dexedrine 5mg 2-3 times a day. My first day on it, I studied all day until midnight. I was so motivated, I felt great, on top of the world, I was so driven. I noticed an immediate difference in my performance at work and it made me a nicer, less cynical. The bad thing was insomnia, teeth clenching, some nausea, decreased appetite and the drop in my mood once it wore off. I am worried about intolerance which is driving up my anxiety level. "

"When I was 12 years old. I woke up at 2 in the morning to blindingly agonizing pain, bad enough that I found myself screaming at the top of my lungs. But when I tried to get out of bed I found my strength fail me and plummeted to the ground hitting my head on my night table. My parents found me and brought me to the hospital. I only found out years later when reading a list of side effects and overdose symptoms just how harmful this drug is. The word limit doesn't allow me to even scratch the surface. I will say that it has left serious physiological scars that decades later have still not healed. I cannot deny that it did help me pay attention in class. But I would still advise any parent that loves their child to STAY CLEAR!"

"I have been on about 100 mg. of dexedrine for over 20 years and it always worked great until a few years ago, when my drug company stopped sending me the TEVA generic. I never had problems with generics before but the Activis brand did nothing for me. I was told that TEVA was made by the same drug manufacturer that makes the name brand so I payed extra for the name brand and that does not appear to be working either. I have been told that TEVA no longer makes dexedrine so I am not sure what I should do. Also, I was told that the FDA no longer allows doses over 60 mg. but I am sure that is true. It could be my insurance company does not want to pay for more than a standard dose."

"Been on it for 21 years being diagnosed at 25. First thing...if your a man and your not getting your significant other pregnant....WATCH OUT!! They can finish the swimmers. Being on same 50 mg can somedays be fine or cause me to clench my teeth. It depends on proper eating and stress reduction. They used to give me huge energy to start but now it's more focusability than anything. Don't get me wrong...these are not a cure for stopping from losing your keys."

"I have struggled with ADD for years and was put on a moderate dosage of ritalin in high school. But it gave me anxiety like you wouldn't believe. I ignored my ADD after high school and started dexedrine in college. What a difference! It helps me to focus much better and give me the energy to finish what I start. My procrastination has never been lower. I only give it a 9 because I sometimes need to make myself focus when the meds are an hour or two from wearing off."

"I have tried all the ADHD medications for my ADD including Vyvanse, Adderall XR, Adderall, Concerta, and Focalin. Dexedrine 15 mg has been the way to go for me!! Not to strong like the others, and helps me get my work done. Great medication was on Adderall XR 30 and felt like I couldn’t breathe definitely don’t recommend the others as they were to strong and quite costly as there were no generics available. Definitely recommend Dexedrine 15mg!"

"I have currently been taking Dexedrine spansules for 16 years. 90 mg a day. ADHD had ruined my life up until I was 36 years old. Now all the standard symptoms are under control and have been since I started the medication. I would personally check with a good doctor if you are suffering with this disorder."

"Was switched from Adderall XR to generic Dexedrine. I got an ineffective brand of Adderall (yes, some brands are better than others). The positive effects were gone and the negative effects were enhanced. My blood pressure was great, around 102-117 systolic and 75-85 diastolic but my pulse was way too high 110-130. For the most part I loved Dexedrine, it worked very well and without the L-Amphetamine in Adderall my pulse rate was good 85-102. My only complaint was that the length of time it worked was inconsistent. Some days it would last 45 min other days it would last 2 hours. After speaking to my psych doc we decided to switch to Vyvanse instead of having to take 3 or 4 Dexedrine pills a day. Other than length of duration this is great."

"Hands down the worst medication I've ever tried. My Psychiatrist suggested trying a newer ADHD drug but I was enamored by some of the reviews I read on here so I persuaded him to prescribe me Dexedrine. Well what a big mistake. I was given 10mg of Dexedrine and after two weeks of it working it completely backfired. It completely ruined my cognitive abilities. I couldn't do simple math, my depth perception was off, and my time perception was off as well. I was constantly late to appointments, I had to write down everything on the calendar on my phone otherwise I will forget or think I have more time than I actually had. I would be careful with this medication. It might work for you though."

"I have been on Dexedrine since 2nd grade, I am now 53. Dexedrine was available since the 60s, that's why I was out on it at the time. Adderall and Ritalin came out in the 90s and as brand name marketing was intense ,prescribers switched over to prescribing these medications instead of Dexedrine. Newer, is not necessarily more effective or better. As the prescribing of Adderall and Ritalin became increasingly dominant, it became challenging to find pharmacies that carried Dexedrine in stock, often they would have to special order it, and this process would take several days. Due to this difficulty, my doctor persuaded me to try fist Ritalin, and then Adderall. In comparison to Dexedrine, I found these 2 newer medications not nearly as effective and unpleasant to take. If you've ever taken Adderall or Ritalin, they obviously work as stimulants, like coffee, but a lot less "Jittery". To me, comparing Dexedrine to Adderall is like comparing Adderall to coffee. Far less jittery. Try it."

"I have been on Vyvanse prescribed for over 8 years prior to taking Dexedrine and It does have a plethora of side effects. Vyvanse caused intense anger and anxiety and it made me feel different and just zombied out. Dexedrine to me is the cleaner version of Adderall and Vyvanse. It is not as intense as both of them and just seems a lot better."

"This medication works really well for helping me feel more focused, and more energized as well. I don't feel sleepy while taking this medication, which is good because part of the reason I started taking it was due to excessive sleepiness that wasn't caused by any other medical problem. The slow-release capsule kept me awake for too long so I didn't sleep so well at night though, so I switched to the short-acting version of this medication and now I can be very alert for about 6 hours from one tablet of the short-acting tablet, and if I need another one I can have one, but I usually don't take two in a day because I don't feel I need more than that. I do find that makes me feel more confident, happy and outgoing. It certainly helps me be more awake and attentive."

"Been taking the 10 mg spansule Dexedrine for 2 weeks now. Excellent focus and a lot more motivation than before. Minimal side effects after the first couple of days. No real come down for me. I also take 10 mg cipralex at night with no issues. Spansule kicks in about an hour after I take it and starts to fade off about 4-5 hours later."

"As the title states, I had very high hopes for this medication as I have responded very well to name brand (Shire) Adderall XR in the past. The difference between name brand and generic Adderall is the combination ratio of dextro to levo. Name brand is 75:25 in favor of dextro and generic is closer to 50:50. This caused me to believe I respond to name brand and not generic do to the dextro content. If you guys don't know, Dexedrine is 100% dextroamphetamine which made me think I stumbled into a gold mine after being off Adderall for 2 years do to the fact they don't sell name brand where I live. Long story short, I took my first dose a few hours ago, and it does not have any effect. The dose I took is 15mg which is the equivalent amount of dextro found in a 20mg Adderall which I was prescribed in the past and worked so well. I gave it a 3 because even though it is not an effective medication, I am not feeling any negative side effects at the moment."

"It sort of worked for me. I have been using Dexedrine 20 mg prescribed in two 10 mg pills. Before that, 15 mg one pill. Before that, one 10 mg pill. A problem I've had is with how my body metabolizes it. Rather than a smooth and consistent maintenance of focus, I experience peaks and valleys of it. It takes effect after 45 min, then it lasts for about 1-2 hours before I get incredibly sleepy for 1-2 hours, then it takes effect again, then I get sleepy again, then it takes effect again. I've talked with my psyche and with the 20 mg split I take the first dose, then the second 10 mg dose 45 minutes later and this has mostly, but not completely, solved the issue. Also, (consistent with all of the stimulant medications I've tried though) is that it stops having any effect after about 3-4 days of usage straight. So I need to calculate for a day or two where I can't take the medication in order to allow for it to work later. Side effects: dry mouth, less hunger, nervousness"

"Well this medication has worked VERY well for my ADHD! It helps me concentrate and makes my mood overall more lifted! I Notice energy and a desire to do work and complete tasks instead of being a lazy couch potato like before. Side effects: Anxiety, Depersonlization and Derealization on this medication sometimes makes you feel like a robot! And heart rate goes up also! But it worked much better than Adderall. Adderall gave me bad anxiety and higher heart rate! Much stronger and more positive mood from Dexedrine. "

"This is AMAZING!!! I don't think I've ever felt this good. Dexedrine makes me feel completely calm, clear-headed, and motivated. I used to be so tired and foggy-brained, and many days were lost to 'recovering' from, well, life. Now I feel like I can do anything I want. I can hardly believe it. I tried Ritalin first and found it to be rubbish - it gave me headaches, insomnia, and mild anxiety, and seemed very unpredictable in terms of effects too. Dexedrine is nothing like that. I have zero side effects - except for some interference with my period. I highly, highly recommend this miracle medication."

"I'm taking pharmacy technician courses right now and I don't know how I could do it without Dexedrine. The course is compressed and there is a tonne of information to take in a short time. I can often tell if I've missed a dose, or it's near time for my noon dose, because I will just plain zone out. Docs tried me on Wellbutrin and Concerta, and those did nothing, so Dexedrine seems the way to go! Really depends on the individual though."

"Extremely beneficial and helpful to this day. Not only does it actually help me focus therefore lowering my level anxiety I get so much more done and I quite frankly do not notice unpleasant effects when it wears off. Fringe benefit is that it does suppress my appetite and tend to overeat."
