For Schizophrenia "I have tried many antipsychotics with little results for my symptoms improving. Loxapine was one that worked for me, and I was on it for about a year. I figured I'd try clozapine because I heard it's the best one. After spending 3 months in the psyche ward to try clozapine, I really must say it worked almost like magic. Within a few weeks, I was feeling much better. By the end of the 3 months in the hospital, my voices were very quiet and in the background. It improved my sleep and even helped my delusions and anxiety/paranoia a bit. I am very happy to say my schizophrenia is much better and easier to deal with."

For Paranoid Disorder "My husband has been given a chemical lobotomy. He can't sit still, he bounces and makes faces while watching TV, and that's all he does all day. I can't take him anywhere, he bugs his eyes out at people and makes monkey faces. How on earth did this questionable drug get approved? He is totally unproductive, slow, forgetful, and delusional."

For Schizophrenia "Clozapine has given me my life back. Much of the problems or symptoms of my schizophrenia are reduced. The only downside has been urinary incontinence. I am now back to wearing diapers just in case, but it is a minor price to pay in order to get my life and headspace back."

For Schizophrenia "Clozapine is almost like a miracle drug for schizophrenia, but it can come with a great cost. I had to stop taking Clozapine because it decreased the amount of white blood cells too much. If I were more unlucky, I could have gotten the common flu and ended up in a hospital (or worse), but my doctor monitored my white blood cell count very actively. Clozapine can cause drooling (scopolamine patches can help), weight gain, and sleepiness (I recommend you take it before going to sleep), but it's also a very effective drug. Because of the downsides, I can't recommend it for other conditions than schizophrenia or psychosis because there are some risks but also a lot of benefits as well."

Clozapine "My former doctor put me on this, and I have been on this for 10-plus years. It hid all my emotions. I could not feel anything, but she insisted it was the only thing I could be on. Since this drug is used primarily for schizophrenia, I was reluctant to take it in the first place. But, I trusted the doctor. I gained over 60 pounds in the first 6 weeks. You have to get monthly blood work for the whole duration you are on the drug. It is illegal in some countries. The risks, in my opinion, outweigh the benefits."

"This was used as a last resort for me for my bipolar disorder after being in the hospital, as most medications I had tried previously were not helping me. I would definitely say that clozapine saved my life and helped me out of some very dark times, but it also comes at a cost. Before I started it 3 years back, I weighed 160 lb, and now I’m 250 lb. I’m always tired and could easily sleep 12 hours. The constant blood work is also very annoying. If needed, this drug can be beneficial, but be warned that it has many side effects."

For Schizophrenia "For me, clozapine 300 mg is a lifesaver. Well, it took 3 months for the onset of action of clozapine, so don't lose hope early. Give this drug a full try, I am sure it will benefit you. I have attempted suicide 6-7 times, been admitted to the hospital 6-7 times, visited nimhans twice, and seen more than 10 doctors. I have been diagnosed with schizo, OCD, borderline personality disorder, social anxiety, ruminations, bipolar disorder, and restless leg syndrome for the past 7 and a half years. I have taken more than 20 types of medicine for these diagnoses. Before my illness, I was studying for 12th board and still managed to secure 90% in PCM. I repeat myself, clozapine can take more than 3 months to initiate action. For OCD, I am taking venlafaxine 375 mg."

For Schizophrenia "Avoid taking it with alcohol, causes extreme drowsiness, trouble breathing, spinning head, unresponsiveness to the point the person could not call an ambulance himself if he was alone. This drug has serious side effects."

For Schizophrenia "Was put on different medications; for a while, Zyprexa and Risperidone. Neither did much. The Zyprexa helped me sleep. Got put on Clozapine as a last resort, and for the most part, it helps with hallucinations. Only negative side effect experienced is moderate drowsiness. Might have my doctor lower the dosage next appointment."

For Schizophrenia "I've been on it for 4 weeks, and I don't see a big difference. I used to socialize at coffee shops, but now I feel paranoid, and I want to stay home. There are so many other things that can be wrong since I take several other meds like Depakote ER and Zoloft. I'm going to see my doctor this week, and hopefully find something to help with mood stabilization."

"I had treatment-resistant depression, and I felt pretty good on clozapine except within a month or two, I gained 30-40 pounds. This was probably also exacerbated by my usage of Seroquel (for sleeping and behavioral issues), but it was a very noticeable difference. I had to get a blood test every single week for my white blood cell count, I think. My psychiatrist never told me that there was such a high risk of weight gain (because it’s not just me, there are numerous case studies about how it’s a high-risk weight gain medication) because she basically made it seem that clozapine was my only option at the time and knew I wouldn’t take it if I knew I would become overweight. Well."

For Schizophrenia "This is one of the worst drugs I have ever tried. I could barely stand a half of the 25 mg pill, but my doctor insisted on taking it and started to increase the dosage to 100 mg. I started forgetting things. I couldn't sleep well."

"I have bipolar disorder. Clozapine is an extremely effective mood stabilizer. I was on 100 mg for twelve years and had a lot of achievements in my life. The downside was gaining weight and developing type 2 diabetes."

For Schizophrenia "I am using Clozapine 1 mg for the last three years because I am suffering from auditory hallucination from 2010 till now. I am under treatment, and my doctor is saying I will have to take medicines my whole life, and there is no permanent solution. If any doctor knows any permanent solution, please contact me. Clozapine is not for suppressing negative voices but is used to calm you, relax you, reduce stress, and help you sleep better. For visual and auditory hallucination, Risperidone 1 mg is useful daily, but Clozapine and Risperidone increase your weight too much. In my case, my weight increased from 45 kg to 67 kg in just three years."

For Schizophrenia "I'm a 30-year-old schizophrenic. I stopped taking my Latuda 40 mg to bring down my sleep hours from 10 to 8 hrs, against my doctor's advice to the contrary, thinking I was well and didn't need it anymore. I underwent a relapse after a month of discontinuing the medication. The relapse damaged my brain, so that now I require stronger medication. I have ever since tried almost all antipsychotics. I searched for a medication that would make me mentally calm. I eventually went on Saphris (Asenapine) 10 mg with Latuda 100 mg. The night that the Saphris was increased to 10 mg, my blood pressure significantly dropped, and I felt akathisia. I took a tranquilizer to help me go to sleep. The blood pressure drop and the akathisia thankfully went away the day after. I performed well on Saphris; I even decreased the Latuda to 40 mg. My average sleeping hours were 11-12 hrs a day."

"I tried every medicine, paliperidone worked for some time, but then I started hearing a lot of voices. Clozapine made my thought process reach a normal level of understanding, and the voices disappeared completely, only on 25 mg a day. I have fewer side effects than the other meds."

For Schizophrenia "After trying many APs, Clozapine finally settled my schizoaffective/schizophrenia symptoms. Has a number of side effects, noticeably, moderate OCD, temporary stiffness in joints, and some initial weight gain. After 10 years, about to swap over to a new drug called Reluxta, which is now on the Australian PBS list for AUD$40 (previously AUD$1700). Reluxta is suitable for those coming off Clozapine (slowly), with usually better results and fewer side effects. Some patients may still need to take a reduced Clozapine amount while taking Reluxta as the main AP."

"This drug saved me from periodic insomnia which is caused by a psychosis-related disorder. I fall asleep easier, and it doesn't build tolerance! My doctor said it's not addictive either. Even the aftereffect is legit, in the morning, I feel more restful, calm, at peace with my surroundings. Because before, it was hard for me to stay and feel the present, I've always been dynamic and restless. This review is deeply subjective because I'm also genetically predisposed towards increased clozapine side effects."

For Schizophrenia "My brother, diagnosed with schizophrenia 2 years ago, tried many medications: Zyprexa, Invega, Clopixol, Rexulti, nothing worked for him. He’s 20 years old now. He just made the blood test to check if he can take Clozapine medication. We will see."
