For Panic Disorder "I was prescribed Klonopin six years ago to help my anxiety. I have a severe fear of medication, I don’t like feeling weird at all. So I was really worried to take this, but after I finally did, it changed my life. No side effects, just pure, blissful normalcy. I only take 0.5 mg as needed, probably around 3-5 times a month."

For Panic Disorder "I consider Klonopin to be a helpful part of my toolkit for lifelong anxiety and depression. I work hard to manage my mental health with exercise, a decent diet, therapy, journaling, etc. But every now and then something happens that leads to a big anxiety spike, which can spiral into full-blown panic. If I start to notice telltale signs like having a hard time eating or flushing across my chest, I take Klonopin so it can take the edge off enough for me to take care of myself and work through it. I have taken less than 30 pills in the 5 years I have been on it, but it is still a big (if rarely used) part of managing for me. It does tend to make me tired, and I avoid it if I am feeling more down than panicky. It has made me a bit weepy a couple times."

For Panic Disorder "I was put on this medication about 10 years ago. I was taking only a quarter of .25 mg for sleep anxiety. It was such a small amount I didn't think much of it. Took it for a few years. I even got off of it for a full year, never had a problem. Then one day my world flipped upside down. Events in my life caused extreme anxiety, which caused me to have zero sleep. I've heard so many bad things about Klonopin that I was scared to start it again. The doctors tried every SSRI, every sleep med, and I went deeper and deeper into crazy land. I ended up breaking down and taking .5 mg a night, which I've stayed on that amount now for 5 years, and it helps along with a half pill of Unisom. I can't take any SSRI, and at times I beat myself up about having to take it, but it works so well for me. I did have issues with the generics, so name brand only works well... I will probably be on them for life, and right now I'm okay with that."

For Panic Disorder "I've been on Klonopin for 9 years. And contrary to what critics say, I haven't needed to increase my dose in 9 years. I'm pretty sure Klonopin saved my life. It definitely has helped me to continue working as a healthcare worker. I know many physicians who take it and swear by it and that has always increased my confidence in using it long term. I hope to one day not need it but why would I worry about using a medicine that makes me a better husband, father, neighbor, and dentist? Of all the benzos, it's the only one I would take. I take 0.5mg in the morning and 0.5 to 1.0 mg at night. The drowsy effect wears off in weeks and I actually get a little surge of energy from it because I'm relaxed and my mental outlook becomes more optimistic. This medicine has been a Godsend for me."

For Panic Disorder "This drug does nothing for my panic/anxiety at the dose I was prescribed (0.5 mg 3 times a day). Plus, my doctor wants me off of it because it is so addictive. Had to go off of it cold turkey once, and it was horrible."

"This med virtually stopped a very irregular and dangerous sleep disorder causing me to jump out of bed, sleepwalk, and act out combative nightmares. (Severe REM Sleep Disorder) After injuries requiring 3 major surgeries incurred during sleep, this medicine may have very well saved me from even worse harm. Side effects when taken for sleep problems have been very minor."

For Seizure Prevention "I have been on this medication for like 8 years, and it works great for me. When I start to have panic attacks or my nervous system is on overload, I take 1 to 2 mg, and it instantly calms my nerves. I did have an episode where my refill was due, and the pharmacy kept faxing my old doctor, so due to me changing doctors, I went about 6 days without it and ended up having a seizure for the first time in my life. I bit my tongue, and it really scared me. I can take up to 2 a day, but I, on some days, can go without. So I do when I can. I take them as prescribed. Anytime you feel like you need more, you beat it by decreasing your intake. I refuse to have another seizure! My neurologist recommends I stay on the medication, but I take it as needed. You can fight through addiction if you are mindful about the way your body feels and just accept that some days you will not feel very good, but by taking the recommended dosage is way better than nothing at all."

For Panic Disorder "Klonopin is very effective with my anxiety disorder. However, stay away from it. You will be addicted before you know it and will seek more and more. If you don't have it, you feel like you are in hell. Withdrawal symptoms are horrible, and you lose control of everything. You will get rebound anxiety, which is worse than your original anxiety. This is so bad that you cannot function without it. Therefore, you have to continue using it to avoid the withdrawal symptoms because they are so awful. Please, if your doctor prescribed this drug, refuse it and take a non-benzo drug. You will rue the day you ever started using it. I am out of medicine now and am in just terrible shape that I cannot sleep. Yes, it is very effective at treating your disorder, but it has got to be the worst drug to come off of. I was in rehab, and even the heroin abusers didn't have as bad withdrawal as I did. Yes, run away from this drug. It will help you but eventually destroy you."

For Panic Disorder "I started taking this medication due to having all sorts of problems with anxiety. I had agoraphobia, panic attacks, and the whole bit. I began taking this medication, and it was a lifesaver for me. I use this medication responsibly, but even though I use it exactly as prescribed, there’s always this doctor who comes along who wants to take me off of it and have me take 3,600 mg of Gabapentin instead and put me to sleep. For some reason, Klonopin doesn’t put me to sleep, but it does calm all the anxiety, making life livable... Always trust your doctor, but you are always the best decider on what works for you."

For Seizure Prevention "I have a seizure disorder that isn't epilepsy. I had an incident where I had seizures back to back for days and was sent to multiple hospitals to try to help me. When I finally came out of them, I was on Klonopin and Keppra. Keppra alone wouldn't stop them from happening again, is what I was told by medical. I also read about Klonopin and know that it is prescribed for preventing seizures and happens to be good at stopping seizures that happen quickly back to back, or whatever it was that was going on specifically with me. I am glad something worked. I have never had anything so rough and weird happen to me. I love Klonopin because I also have anxiety and insomnia, both things that Klonopin helps and eases as well, which also could be triggers for seizures or symptoms of."

For Panic Disorder "To best help combat my anxiety, my psychiatrist and I had both been in agreement that prescription benzodiazepines were my best option currently, so I primarily get prescribed Klonopin 2 mg tabs, qty-90, three times daily or as needed once a month for the last 7+ years, while taking a ‘break or switch to a similar medication,’ such as Xanax or Ativan."

For Panic Disorder "Also OCD/GAD/Tourette's. I am an addict. I was a heroin user and have been abstinent for nearly 10 years. When I went to federal prison, they took me off a combination that a very accredited mental health team put in place. When I arrived, I was stable. They DC'd all meds cold turkey, especially 60 mg Paxil and Klonopin. Months later, I attempted suicide on 3 different attempts: swallowing 200 Tylenol, cutting a main vein, and hanging myself, which were no cries for help. I had lost the will to live. They put me on 600 pills/month instead of the right drug. I developed seizures, something I never had. After years of reaching out, I accomplished the anomaly: I was put back on. I send this from the ICU with diverticulitis, which is a direct result of anxiety."

For Panic Disorder "I served in the United States military and was diagnosed with a horrible panic disorder. I left with 70% disability due to severe anxiety and a crippling panic disorder with agoraphobia. I have been on everything there is, including all the REAL serious meds, in my four psychiatric visits at the VA. Nothing worked, absolutely nothing, besides benzodiazepines. Klonopin, in my opinion, works the best out of the benzo family. It has a very long half-life and will come on slower but last way longer than others like Xanax or Ativan, which hit you FAST but leave fast, leaving you wanting another dose quicker, which in my opinion, sucks. In conclusion, Klonopin saved my life. I have been on it for 5 years at 0.5 mg, 3 times a day."

For Panic Disorder "I've been prescribed Klonopin as needed for 7 years. I take it once or twice a week. Klonopin is phenomenal for panic attacks. It is so wonderful that many people become physically dependent or addicted to it. Its relief lasts longer than Xanax, and it is much smoother. It does not kick in as quickly as Xanax, but you can chew it or leave it under your tongue to kick in more quickly. Extreme self-discipline is strongly recommended when taking Klonopin or any other benzo. Klonopin should only be taken as a last resort to a panic attack. It is not supposed to be taken every day, and it is not supposed to be taken to escape every anxious situation."

For Anxiety "This drug should not be prescribed for more than two weeks (and this has been known since the eighties). Most doctors in the USA don't have a clue about what benzos do to the lives of the patients they are prescribing to, and especially how difficult it is for patients to withdraw from these drugs. I was completely dependent on clonazepam after 30 days and remained on it for about eight years before I realized I had to get off of clonazepam if I wanted a chance to become healthy again. It took me 7 horrifying months to taper off, and I became disabled during that time. I lost about 85% of my long- and short-term memory during that time. I am educated, but I did not research this drug before I took it. Please don't make that mistake."

For Panic Disorder "I checked myself into a mental hospital in 2011 and was put on this three times a day. I was eventually cut down to as needed, and it's still wonderful. Kpin (as I call it) curbs the panicky feelings within minutes, and I sleep so well that it's sometimes hard to get out of bed in the morning! Thank you, Roche-your little yellow pill is fantastic!"

For Anxiety "I am on a maintenance dose of 1 mg three times a day along with a different Xanax 0.5 if I am having a panic attack. I'm agoraphobic and suffer from anxiety because of multiple reasons. I find Klonopin is an amazing medication that helps tremendously. I wouldn't have the life I have today."

For Anxiety "A+. Couldn't function without it. Takes away that tense feeling in my brain. I don't have panic attacks, but I deal with a lot of anxiety that brings on severe irritability. Just one 5mg pill in the morning and one when I get home from work, and I'm free from all that. I can live a normal life and not let my anxiety ruin my relationships, work, etc. Lasts longer than Xanax and more effective, in my opinion."

For Seizure Prevention "This medicine made me confused, slur my words, exhausted. I was basically living in a fog for over five years. No amount of sleep helped, I needed to take a nap every day and would still be tired when I woke up. I had difficulty thinking, repeated sentences, had anxiety attacks. This medication is only supposed to be given for a maximum of 2 weeks. It's highly addictive, and the user develops a high tolerance. Long-term usage can result in brain damage, and benzos are the most overly prescribed drug in the world. Withdrawal was horrible, but worth it! I got my life back after getting off of it, and I don't have anxiety or seizures, changed my lifestyle, diet, and exercise."

For Anxiety "I started taking lorazepam (Ativan) when I was 16 (I'm 32 now) for panic attacks and anxiety, 2 mg twice a day. They did work well but had a short half-life. I had 3 grand mal seizures when I was trying to come off of them. I switched to Klonopin 6 years ago because a new doctor said that they would keep me on a more even keel because of their longer half-life, and he was right! But even on Klonopin, which is addictive, I had a grand mal seizure when trying to wean off. So I just take my Klonopin as directed, 1 mg 3 times a day, and I feel normal. Some people try to say that benzos aren't addictive, but that's a lie. So just be careful when you hear others say that they can take their medication only when they 'need it.'"

For Panic Disorder "On generic clonazepam for 9 years. Works great for GAD, panic attacks, however, it is now wearing off. I cannot get off of it due to oppositional tolerance. Most doctors know little about this drug. Originally meant for short-term use. It is very difficult to taper. It does serve its purpose. Just do your research."

For Panic Disorder "Caution: this medication is highly effective for almost every anxiety disorder that exists, somewhat TOO helpful, which is how it's easy to abuse it; but doing so will be life devastating. Using this drug responsibly at a reasonable dosage is highly effective in managing anxiety disorders, and I testify that it complements antidepressants very well. Daily users need to prove the benefits outweigh the risks. Taken daily for 5 years, still as effective and no need to 'up my dosage'."

For Panic Disorder "I was prescribed clonazepam, first at 1 mg a day. Little did I know, after two years of seeing my caring physician, we learned clonazepam has been a bit of a lifesaver for me! I suffer mainly from social anxiety with agoraphobia, afraid of new places, being seen out. A half a year into taking the medication, I titrated up to 2 mg a day as needed. My doctor 'experimented' with alprazolam PM on me for 14 days. 30 .5 mg pills. I had rebound anxiety along with a few days of panic attacks. I couldn't wait to take my dose that night of Klonopin! I was diagnosed as a bit bipolar soon after my prescriber was informed of my impulsivity and isolation. Mania was in overdrive along with severe OCD and even attention disorders stemming from a distress in the nervous system, high-strung, sensitive stomach, etc. Today, I take a total of 4 mg a day as needed, some days I take 2-3 or 3-4 mg. This medication comes in need to those like me. Other anxiolytic exercises help as well."
