For Anxiety "This 'medicine' ruined my life. I took it just as the doctor prescribed Clonazepam, 5 mg every night before bed. He said I would probably need them for the rest of my life. He failed to tell me these are very powerful tranquilizers (all benzos are). We are only supposed to take these for no more than 2 weeks! It worked well for many years until one day it quit working. Tolerance, withdrawal, sick 24/7, med no longer works, sheer panic. Suffering all since that day, and it's been one year off now. These meds also cause depression over the years. I had a great life until this med caused me to lose everything! Nightmare! Please, don't walk, run from this poison!"

For Anxiety "I started taking this drug 10 years ago because I was always stressed and was waking up at 3 am. Started on 0.5 mg at bedtime, combined with Trazodone, and it would knock me out within 15 minutes - I almost had to rush to the bed sometimes. It was prescribed to take another dose in the morning, but I only did this once, as it made me very sleepy driving to work. I later discovered the Trazodone wasn't doing anything and now just take the Klonopin at 0.75 mg at bedtime, and it gradually puts me to sleep and keeps me there. If I wake in the middle of the night and would normally stress about stuff, I am able to fall back to sleep till morning. Helps with work anxiety during the day, too. It has been a miracle drug for me!"

For Anxiety "I was put on Klonopin at age 17. I took it as prescribed for 20 years, going from 0.5 mgs to 3-4 mgs a day. While it worked great for anxiety and insomnia, I wish I had never taken this medication. Last year, I was detoxed off of it. When I tapered off, I didn't sleep at all for 11 days. After that, I had extreme anxiety and agitation. I couldn't sit still for months, I had to take a non-addictive medication to be able to sleep at all. I was unable to eat well for months. Doctors don't think to tell you that this medication makes you physically dependent. You cannot stop abruptly, or you risk seizures. It is made for short-term use, about 2 weeks. I wish I had never taken this medication. I will never take another benzodiazepine again."

For Bipolar Disorder "I take (3) 2 mg Klonopin a day, been taking them for years. Yes, it works, if you like being zoned out all day. I also have a personality disorder, and when I am in split mode, these make it worse."

For Seizure Prevention "I was prescribed clonazepam by a VA psychiatrist because I was having jitteriness from an antidepressant (Paxcil). He prescribed 2 mg/day. I had been having seizures - later diagnosed as psychogenic non-epileptic seizures - for several years, and while taking clonazepam, the seizure frequency was reduced and almost completely stopped. All the regular epilepsy medications tried had no effect, only clonazepam has been effective in reducing or stopping my seizures. Paxcil, strangely, made me increasingly violent until I stopped it."

For Panic Disorder "Klonopin saved my life!!! I have been having panic attacks since I was 8 years old. Klonopin is the only benzodiazepine that helps take the panic away. Life saver!!! Don't worry about the sides it can't be worse than the attacks."

For Anxiety "Have been taking 2 to 2.5 mg per day for many years. The only med that has alleviated my anxiety. Am 67 and have had the problem since childhood. Don't know why but it's too late to unravel. Suspect I'm wired that way or it's hereditary. Was very successful but life was a constant struggle until I got help at age 48. Would not want to be without it despite the doc's concerns about addiction. The horror stories about withdrawal are overblown. I wean off once in 6 weeks. No recurring issues. Therapy never had any lasting effect. Too late to consider stopping now and I don't know why I should. The trend against these meds is unfortunate."

For Seizure Prevention "During the time I have been on Klonopin, I was asked by my insurance to try the generic but was never able to tolerate it. Last October 2014, the brand was unavailable, 'Not in Stock,' and I had to go on the generic. I was on it totally for several months and had some severe side effects. I became aware that the brand was available in early June and was able to get back on the brand. Having difficulty getting the exact same dosage I've been on for about 18 months to regulate. I'm having a problem sleeping through the night and feeling anxious when I wake up. It doesn't feel like the same drug. I don't know why it was stopped. I wonder if anyone else has had the same experience with taking the 'new brand' since it is available again."

For Panic Disorder "Approximately twenty years ago, I was taken by ambulance twice and once by car to the ER where they gave me something that calmed me. It was similar to a seizure. Nothing ever triggered these attacks. It just came upon me very fast. I was enjoying my career and life; I'm very social. My doctor finally sent me to a psychologist, and he diagnosed me with panic attacks. There was a name for this! I was prescribed something similar to Klonopin, and when Klonopin came on the market, he prescribed 0.5mg twice a day. I have had no adverse side effects, only positive. I have never had another panic attack and do not plan to ever stop taking Klonopin. I am the same person I was and live life to the fullest in a new phase of 'early retirement'!!"

"I have taken Klonopin along with Tramadol for about 13 years for fibromyalgia. I take 1 mg at night only, and it helps sleep, muscle tension, anxiety from living in pain, and cuts down on the number of migraines I get. It can be a wonderful medicine for the right conditions. I know how much it helps me as whenever I've tried to go off of it or even cut it in half, I feel much worse for weeks. I always end up going back to the 1 mg. It is worth it for me to take for the rest of my life as long as it is prescribed. My rheumatologist just keeps me on it, and I pray if I ever move out of state, which I know I will when my husband retires, I can find another doc who has no problems with me staying on it. It's not fun to go off this med!"

For Periodic Limb Movement Disorder "Have been on Klonopin since 2004, it works the best for me. I've had 2 sleep studies, which have shown moderate RLS and PLMS, with some sleep apnea. I have tried Requip, Sinemet, and Mirapex, even getting the doctor to up the dose of one of them, but did not have the immediate relief that Klonopin brings. I've had a bit of a hard time with my doctor to fill the script because it's a controlled substance. I've explained to him that I have not had to increase my Klonopin dosage much in the 10 years that I've been taking it (0.5 mg to 1 mg). The one time I did not take it, I woke up 4 hours later like a bolt of lightning struck me. It's necessary for my PLMS and to function in life!"

For Anxiety "I have been taking Klonopin for 20 years. It all started because I lost function of both my inner ears and had no balance. The ear specialist concluded that there was no treatment available for this condition, so my stress and anxiety level landed me in a pain clinic where medicine, exercise, counseling, and diet did the trick. In three days, I was back to normal. What I later found out is that Clonazepam was not only very effective for my balance disorder, but it took the anxiety away. Today I take 2mg a day in two or three doses and feel completely normal. When stress increases, I slightly increase the dosage. I take it with Lexapro so as not to end up in depression. The secret, for me, is daily exercise (walking) and Clonazepam/Lexapro 10mg."

For Panic Disorder "I was born into the middle of WWII in England and have Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. Also, I was sexually assaulted at the age of 4 years. I came over here to the States at the age of 13, and it all went downhill from there. I have major depression and have been on Prozac for many, many years. I have also been taking Klonopin for as many years, and it has given me some kind of normal life. I used to get the tremors so bad that the ambulance people thought it was a grand mal seizure attack. I still get these attacks once in a while, but with the help of Klonopin, I can actually calm myself back to a normal state of being. I wouldn't call it a wonder medicine, but it certainly helps me."

For Seizure Prevention "I have taken Klonopin for at least 20 years now, and it is the only medication that prevents absences and myoclonic seizures. Sometimes I have breakthroughs, but not often. I vary in my doses from 1 mg a day to 3 mg at times due to needing a little more or less. Since I have been on it for so long, I am able to do this. I take it at nighttime because I cannot function during the day if I take it in the morning. I think I have been on every seizure medicine there is and have had nightmare stories concerning them, but Klonopin works the best for me. I believe every person is different, and what works for one may not work for another. I do have to put up with occasional side effects like bouts of insomnia and breakthrough optical migraines."

I take it 3 times a day, it works so well, but lately, doctors are giving me a hard time filling it because it's considered a controlled substance. I have tried other medications, and this works the best for me."

For Anxiety "After decades of debilitating anxiety, a psychiatrist put me on Klonopin. I have now been on this medication for about 15 years, and my anxiety rarely affects me anymore. Unlike other anxiety meds, I have not had to increase my dosage, and have absolutely no side effects. This medicine has been a lifesaver for me."

For Anxiety "This medication opened up a whole new world for me. I developed a very bad anxiety and panic disorder and lived with it for years. Therapy and many other medications did not help! I didn't notice much of a difference initially, but by the time I was up to 1 mg 3 times a day, my life so greatly improved. I currently take another medication (Xanax). I was taken off the medication because I became an alcoholic. When I detoxed from alcohol, I was immediately taken off Klonopin. My only concern for people that are taking it is that if they decide to stop, please withdraw from it properly by a gradual reduction over a period of time. The hospital took me off of it without gradually reducing it. The withdrawal was horrible!"

For Panic Disorder "I have been taking Klonopin for many years. I started having weird feelings, like I was going to die. I kept ending up in the ER. The doctors kept telling me it was anxiety. I didn't understand why anxiety would make me feel this way. When the anxiety would kick in, I literally thought I was dying. My heart would race, my body would get tingles, and I would feel choked. It was scary and still is. I have tried many anxiety medicines-Paxil, Effexor, Xanax, Lamictal, Geodon, and many more. None have worked the way Klonopin works. With Klonopin, I feel safe and I do not get jittery feelings. I am so grateful to have a medication that actually works for me. If I miss a dose, I will get severe anxiety and a panic attack."

For Bipolar Disorder "For me, Klonopin 1 mg 4x daily has helped me with my social and overall anxiety. With that being said, for my nerves, it's a great medicine. In combination with my Lamictal 200 mg, it also helps keep my moods at a more even level, especially my mania, which I seem to have much more than depression."

For Panic Disorder "I started having panic attacks 7 years ago, when my 3-year-old son had an accident and needed two surgeries. Thank God he recovered, but for me, the panic became worse every day. At one point, I didn't want to leave the house or see people, and I couldn't be alone either, so my mother had to stay with me. I was terrified of taking sertraline and Klonopin, but it came to a point where I was no longer able to take care of my child, my home, my work. So I started the medication, and it helped me become a functional person again. The first days were tough, I felt tired all the time. After two weeks, I started noticing an improvement. Seven years later, I only take 0.5 Klonopin a day and another 0.5 only if I feel too anxious (usually if I'm going through a rough time). I don't care if I have to take Klonopin for the rest of my life as long as it helps me live a full life. Don't be afraid to take the meds if you need them, talk to your doctor and find what's best for you."

For Panic Disorder "I have been taking Klonopin for several years for a panic disorder. It's really helped me a lot. Recently, my pharmacy ran out and said the manufacturer had it on backorder. So they finally got in a new, generic version by a manufacturer called SOLCO. Horrible. The taste and melting ability... missed the mark. It's like having a piece of chalk in your mouth. The original has a slight minty flavor. Not SOLCO. Yuck. It does share the same ability to calm my panic disorder though. Just not as much, IMO."
