"I have been in the hospital for four days on IV piperacillin for a ruptured appendix. Within one day of starting Cipro at home, I had substantial muscle weakness in my right arm and a bit of neuropathy in both arms. I also had tingling in my back and a little bit in my legs. I also had a new anxiety I didn’t even have in the hospital! After doing a little bit of reading and realizing that this can be a serious side effect from the Cipro, I decided to call the doctor right away. They have written me a new prescription for amoxicillin. I’m writing this to say don’t be afraid to get a different antibiotic if this one is causing you these kinds of side effects. Apparently, you should grin and bear it because the nerve and muscle damage doesn’t always go away."

Ciprofloxacin "Experienced diarrhea followed by muscle cramps in legs and feet. Immediately stopped the medication and will not take it again. This medication should not be legal."

"I took one 500 mg pill, and after 2 hours, had tingling and stabbing pain in my Achilles tendon, pain down my shin and into my foot. I immediately took magnesium to try to stop the effectiveness of the meds. Was prescribed this with metronidazole because of GI issues, but lab results haven't even come back. This should only be given as a last-ditch effort."
