Chlorzoxazone "I have moderate lower back pain, and my doctor suggested I take Lorzone in case I have a muscle spasm. Well, I took the Lorzone 750 mg, and I had no side effects whatsoever (which is good), yet the pain is still there. I have an appointment for an MRI soon. Hope I find out what is causing my pain."

"This is the ONLY muscle relaxant I can tolerate without any side effects, i.e., drowsiness, restlessness, irritability. I am dealing with leftover nerve pain in my neck from shingles, and I have tried everything for the muscle pain. Now the pain is moving down into my left shoulder, and I can't get comfortable at night unless I take this medication."

"Like everyone else, I was on Soma for my muscle spasm and pain. Then my doctor said he couldn’t prescribe me Soma anymore, which I thought was the craziest thing ever! Now reading this, I see why, but it’s not an opioid and the ONLY muscle relaxer so far that has helped and worked for me! These chlorzoxazone 500 mg are such garbage trash! Took 1, waited 2 hours, nothing happened - I was in so much pain and...NOTHING! I will be trying a 4th muscle relaxer now, all because they can’t prescribe the one drug that actually worked and helped! Why is this even happening? I am beyond frustrated, so annoyed, and in terrible pain."

"I have been taking chlorzoxazone for a couple of years to help with leg muscle pain caused by L4-L5 root damage. It helps significantly reduce my pain. I don't believe it makes me sleepy, although there may be a little bit of light-headedness."

"I've been through a lot of medication for fibromyalgia... amitriptyline, methocarbamol, NSAIDs off the charts, Savella, Cymbalta... nothing works. Still, I believe nothing works, but I will say this has helped me feel quite a bit better. Often at night, I have muscle cramps in addition to all the pain caused by fibromyalgia. If someone squeezes my arm, yes, it still hurts... but this drug has really lessened the pain all over. I give it a nine because I worry too much about how 'young' this drug is. I worry about what it's doing to my liver and stuff too. I'm on 750 mg a night, and I take it before bed. It doesn't make me drowsy or help me sleep through the night specifically, but it really makes the muscles feel nice (and less cramping)."

"The chlorzoxazone has been incredible for my muscle spasm after being unable to tolerate cyclobenzaprine (it completely knocked me out and left me feeling groggy and dizzy the next day). My chronic neck pain really relaxes after taking one of the 500mg pills (the 750 was too strong for me, I'm a 120lb female). However, from my experience only, do not take these pills on an empty stomach. If I do, I get extremely dizzy and my eyes feel like they aren't working right. As long as I have eaten recently, I tolerate these fine and feel much better. I am no longer limited to taking muscle relaxers right before I go to bed when I don't have an early morning."

"My doc put me on this 500 mg 2 daily, took my first one, feel like I am getting a sore throat, am not able to sleep, muscle spasms still regularly. I don't understand the new laws. I was on Soma, which worked great, but now if you are or have been on a Benz, you can't have Soma. The doc has quit writing that med. I've been on 20 different meds for spasms, now they took the only thing that worked and gave me this, which, by the way, my insurance company doesn't cover. Now I have to pay out of pocket for something that I think is garbage."

"Doctor prescribed 500 mg, 3X/day for severe sciatica pain and muscle spasms. I could tell no difference in pain level or muscle spasms. I then looked it up on the internet and found that the NIH says it is only a 'fair' muscle relaxer and elsewhere that there is a study that was done on people after back surgery that showed it to be entirely ineffective for their pain. I am glad it has obviously helped many people, but it did nothing for me and has the rare side effect of liver damage or destruction."

Chlorzoxazone "I was prescribed Lorzone and was given a sample by my doctor. I took the medicine around 6 PM and went to bed at 11. Woke up at 1 PM with a condition very similar to getting a piece of food stuck in my esophagus. I could breathe but was unable to swallow. My saliva became thick and foamy, and I had to spit it into a cup. Had my wife take me to the emergency room. Had an endoscopy, which when I woke up, I was fine."

"I really don't think Parafon Forte helped me too well. I really didn't feel any different as far as the muscle spasms, because they were still as bad as they were before. I've switched to 2 mg Valium as it has helped tremendously. Plus, Valium helps with my anxiety as well. A quick fact from what I read in my pamphlet on 2 mg Valium is that its purposes are for muscle spasms, anxiety, and acute alcohol withdrawals. I never knew about it helping with acute alcohol withdrawals too. You learn something new every day."

"Cramps and spasms related to bulging spinal disc. Exceedingly painful. Flexeril did not help. Parafon Forte was able to reduce the frequency and intensity of my spasms, allowing me to rest more than with another medication or no medication at all. Additionally, it stopped my appetite, and I lost 10 pounds while taking this med."

"After trying dozens of muscle relaxers over the past year and having side effects like non-stop vomiting, severe nausea (so bad that I could not get my head out of a trash can), not to mention the sharp pains in my stomach and not being able to eat anything. I figured this was just another trial. Boy, was I shocked when I tried this one. Granted, it's not perfect, but I have part of my life back and am not neurotic that I have at least three ziplock bags in my purse and one in each sweater pocket in case I cannot get to the restroom in time."

"I am being weaned off Vicodin (for RA joint stiffness and pain) by my 'pain doctor' because I consume alcohol, and it shows in my urine sample. So now I am not allowed my 10-year perfect solution for my RA/osteoarthritis joint pain with my 7.5/325 tablets prescribed 3x/day. I take one at 5:30 am before I walk 4.5 miles 6 days a week-it's like oiling my joints. I often don't take the others during the day. BUT I know I have them for backup. So, he prescribed this chlorzoxazone at 500 mg. The first morning I took it, after my walk, I had to sit down and couldn't get up for 4 hours; I was confused, like a zombie, and wasn't normal 'til 5 pm. The healthcare system is wrong, and I am another victim."

"I have or had severe pain in my right leg, very high up in my hip. I’ve had it for the last couple of days, and I was in real pain! The doctor prescribed me this for 750 mg… I mean real severe pain. I took the medication and fell asleep… I woke up, and the pain was gone… Oh, just to let you know, I was also taking naproxen as well… When I woke up, I can’t believe it, the pain is gone… I don’t know if it’s the naproxen or both, but I feel fine now… My pain was similar to a bad pulled muscle. The doctor wasn’t sure what it was, but now no pain, maybe a little lightheadedness. I can’t believe the pain is gone with no opioids."

"I am a 35-year-old female. Fibromyalgia diagnosis was in October 2013 after 1-2 years of unexplainable symptoms. Just recently woke up with a kink in my (right-sided) neck, mid-back, shoulder, pectoral, bicep, and entire arm/arm pit pain, cramps, spasms. Six days after it started, I went to the ER and was diagnosed with torticollis. The ER doctor gave me a shot of Norflex and Toradol. He sent me home with prescriptions for Flexeril and Voltaren. I saw my doctor's nurse practitioner the next day, and she told me to stop the Voltaren and started me on a Medrol dose pack and told me to continue taking Flexeril. The Flexeril didn't relieve any pain. Later in the week, I called the NP again and was told to quit Flexeril and start 500 MG Paragon Forte. SURPRISE, no relief."

"Today was my first day trying the drug. I got a headache, stomach ache, and 0 pain relief, darn it! Was trying to get off Robaxin, which works great except I am losing a lot of my hair from it. Both of these drugs have a high percentage if you are over 60, darn it again!"

"I have had problems with opiates in the past - I have severe scoliosis with constant spasms in my QL muscle. Now I take 800 mg of Motrin 3x a day and 750 of Parafon 3x a day. I can't believe how much it has helped - in addition to PT and weight training!!!"

"Chlorzoxazone works great on spasms, but it can relax the diaphragm and cause burping and trouble breathing, etc. I have ankylosing spondylitis, MS, psoriatic arthritis, and asthma. After radio frequency nerve ablation on my right S.I. joint, my pain mgmt Dr. prescribed the 500mg tablet for daytime. It's been amazing! I take tizanidine at bedtime, but it causes dizziness and nausea if I stand, no good in the daytime. I had a little dizziness the first 2 days, but have been on it for about 8 years, it's allowed me to be functional. As with any med, there can sometimes be severe side effects. If your Dr. doesn't go over the potential interactions or warnings, look it up on a 'trusted' website, preferably the manufacturer. I take so many meds, I always check. I've been having more breathing problems recently, not asthma related, so may stop taking this to see if it improves. I hate to lose this, but I'll see. If you can tolerate it, it can be a game changer."

"This works very well for me. I prefer Soma, but my doctor says it's highly addictive and has too much interaction with the other medicines."

Chlorzoxazone "I almost died from Lorzone! Whoever took samples to a pain doctor's office knowing it can kill you if you take other pain medicines with this kill. I was not told this, I was just told to take two 750 mg tablets a day. I swelled up in the face, hands, and legs. I became so sick I had dark urine and could not eat, as all I could do was throw up and have coffee ground diarrhea. I was given samples from a pain doctor! No information was on the boxes! Before you take this, make sure it goes with all your medicines you are on, or you could die! (Check your drug interactions.) I may never be the same. Whoever gave those samples to a pain doctor's office, they are trying to kill people! I cannot tell you how many days I took the samples as I lost my memory! I called the company, they are to blame for this in my book!"
