For Major Depressive Disorder "I've been taking this medication for under 6 months now, and I have gained 10 lbs while taking this drug. I don't feel like I have increased energy than before, like some other people described. I feel more irritable and anxious at times, still can't sleep at night. I get the dry mouth side effects and occasional constipation. I'm taking 300 mg XL once a day. I am getting more depressed with gaining weight on this drug! I was taking Lexapro before and didn't find it helped me feel less depressed and experienced a lot of nightmares or weird dreams while taking Lexapro!"

"I have adult ADHD, diagnosed very late, and generalized anxiety with panic attacks that also started very recently. My doctor prescribed Wellbutrin XL and gave me buspirone for the anxiety. Not only did the Wellbutrin not have any positive effects, as far as I've noticed, it made things much harder for me, too. It gave me impatience, agitation, the need to explode, yell, and break. I had a bad outburst and have to cut the medication now. I was really hopeful because many people gave excellent reviews. If you have anxiety, you should probably go for a different drug or be very careful with Wellbutrin, as anxiety is NOT a listed condition for this."

"I was initially prescribed Wellbutrin for ADHD and depression to hopefully address both conditions at once. Wellbutrin brought on intense headaches, waves of euphoric mania, and some irritability. After a month of 100 mg SR, the decision was made to bump me up to a 'clinically effective dose' of 150 mg/XL. That was brutal. I suffered some of the worst emotional instability I've experienced; the headaches kept coming and haven't stopped since stopping the drug. ADHD and depression aren't one size fits all conditions, nor are the drugs that help treat them. I was quite excited to start Wellbutrin at the suggestion of my psych, as I know several people who swear by it and have had nothing but good things to say. Ultimately, I was disappointed in what I had experienced while on it; but I can say that since stopping it, it was more effective than I had thought in addressing the ADHD."
