Bupropion for Depression "Best decision I could've ever made. I'm happier, and I don't have an appetite, so I've lost around 20 lbs. I feel so much better about my body. I do get pretty angry at times, but I get over it super quickly. I no longer hold grudges, and I'm super forgiving."

Bupropion for Depression "After 7 years on Zoloft, it had stopped working. I was experiencing mood swings and sadness/depression. My doctor weaned me off Zoloft and prescribed Wellbutrin. The first few weeks, I immediately noticed an increased sensitivity in all my senses. There was kind of a wind tunnel effect in my ears, my body was more sensitive to touch (great for my sex life), I became hypersensitive to noise/vibration (a negative), and I had a keener sense of smell (not always positive). I had trouble getting or staying asleep. I stayed on it for six weeks, but when my fuse got shorter and I became very hostile and angry, I was weaned off of Wellbutrin and changed to Celexa. It's been 2 weeks, and so far, so good."

Bupropion "I personally had a horrific experience with this drug, which was prescribed for anxiety and OCD. I had migraines, itchiness all over my body to the point I scratched myself bloody, insane stomach cramping, I couldn’t even think about food or I would literally gag. I couldn’t eat without feeling like I was going to full-blown puke after. I was super shaky, had really bad outbursts of anger and sadness, and my depression has never been worse. The suicidal ideation was powerful and never made me feel so depressed in my life. I wasn’t getting out of bed unless I had to use the bathroom. This medicine personally debilitated me, and if you have issues with being a person that always gets every side effect (like me), I would highly recommend steering clear!"

Bupropion for Smoking Cessation "My partner took Zyban to help him quit smoking. Yes, it did help him to stop, but the side effects have been horrific. I would not recommend anyone using this. For the past five and a half years, he has suffered terrible mood swings, to the point that he frightens me, and there has been a little violence (in the early days). He has had suicidal thoughts (and still does now occasionally). Our happy little family unit has almost been destroyed... we are still together by the grace of God, but for how much longer, I don't know. I know his health has probably improved no end due to no longer smoking, but his mental health has suffered greatly, and sadly I don't know if things will ever improve."

Bupropion for Depression "I was prescribed generic for Wellbutrin 10 days ago. I felt great the first couple of days, but the last couple of days I feel really depressed, constantly crying and yelling at my husband and kids for no reason. Just left a message for my doctor to call me back to see if we can change either the dosage or the medication period."

Bupropion for Major Depressive Disorder "Wellbutrin was a terrible medication for me. It gave me a lot of anger, my mood worsened much more, and loss of libido. But the worst side effect was a major and total loss of memory. Never taking anymore."

Bupropion for Bipolar Disorder "Wellbutrin relieved my internal feelings of turmoil but turned me very edgy, rude, and angry at inappropriate times. Not a fun person to be around. And while it helped me emotionally a little, it did nothing spectacular."

Bupropion for Depression "Sadness turned into energy and sometimes anger. Overall positive on the day's mood. However, massive insomnia every night. Had to ultimately stop the treatment. I guess it's a good treatment if you're an energy-less vegetable, otherwise, you become very angry, agitated, and can't sleep well."

Bupropion for Major Depressive Disorder "This medication has changed my life, I cry just telling my story about it. I have struggled with major depression ever since I was a child, I’m in my early twenties and I can say Wellbutrin makes it so hard for me to cry or get depressed. I feel it has opened my eyes more and helped me gain more boundaries. I even get brain fog thinking about the events that have made me depressed. The only cons I have are the headaches and the rage/anxiety I get. Wellbutrin alone does not really help with my anxiety, so if you’re like me, you could definitely pair it with an SSRI."

For Depression "I'm impressed. Bupropion works where Zoloft didn't. At 2 doses of 100 mg a day, I didn't feel anything at first. I went up to 3x100 mg a day, and it did help the depression! However, at 3x100 mg, I was feeling twitchy and anxious, and quick to anger, so I ended up going back to 2. I felt better than before, but it wasn't quite enough. I talked to my doctor, and we adjusted it to 3x75 mg, and that seems just right. In my experience, after finding the right dosage: I just feel normal again. The gloom of depression is gone, and things that should feel good do. There's no 'high', and I don't feel like it's changed me as a person, it just removed the lingering causeless depression I was dealing with. The only side effect I have is that it seems to cut down any and all cravings, including appetite, but not to a worrying degree. Long story short: Bupropion is subtle but powerful. It took some time and dosage tweaks to get it just right, but I feel much better on it with almost no side effects."

Bupropion for Depression "Been on 150 for 3 weeks. It's been up and down, but overall up. I'm bipolar and have rage issues, so I was very worried about that, but it has actually been less of an issue than with other antidepressants I've been on (Celexa, Lexapro) and tried unsuccessfully (Cymbalta, Prozac, Latuda). Also, I tried the generic non-XL a few years ago, and it did throw me into a blind rage. I was a little prone to 'upsetness,' like sensitivity that I would then lash out in anger, but not rage, for the first two weeks. Had some anxiety issues, but those have dispersed. Otherwise, libido is normal again after Lexapro, and now getting motivated to get out of bed to eat or go to work or shower is like picking up a 1 lb weight instead of a 20 lb weight. 25yoF"

For Major Depressive Disorder "Wellbutrin has been a totally game changer. My impulse control has improved, and my eating habits have as well. The best change, though, is I can actually get through the week with very few depressive episodes, if any at all. You will have to get past some snappy, angry side effects the first few weeks, this DOES go away. It has helped so much. I am so glad my doctor told me to wait a few weeks. Life-changing medicine."

Bupropion for Depression "I used bupropion XL 150, only used for 1 week. This made me so angry and irritable that my family couldn't stand me. I took Pristiq before this, and it did the same thing, plus made me gain 15 lbs in 2 weeks. I do not think antidepressants are for me. They just make me way too angry. Bupropion also gave me an itchy rash everywhere, headaches, and made me constantly feel hungry, also made me have really bad dizzy spells and twitches in my neck. All of this, and it didn't help my depression at all, in fact, I feel worse since I've started taking medicines than I did before. I know this works wonders for a lot of people, but I am not one of them."

For Persistent Depressive Disorder "Although everyone handles medication differently, I want to just give my experience since I've been consistently on this medication since the beginning of this year. I am in my 20s and have suffered with chronic depression and anxiety since my childhood. Although this medication has helped some with my depression, it had increased my anxiety off the roof. The only positives as of now from taking bupropion would be that I've had no weight gain and it helped lift some of the fog of my depression. The anger I felt on this drug was immense. Since my doctor added an SSRI to this medication two months ago, my mood swings have leveled and my anxiety and more of my depression are dissipating. Anyway, talk to your doctor please, especially if you have anxiety and are on this medication or planning to begin bupropion. I plan on tapering off of this with my doctor's advice because the negatives outweigh the positives for me on this one."

Bupropion for Depression "300 mg XR for roughly 5 years. Overall good experience, about 8.5/10. A family friend took me to a clinic after not getting up for multiple days on end. Started this medicine as a “why not.” Do not expect it to take effect for some time. I was told 6 months for the structural brain changes, and it may have even been a bit longer, however, you will feel effects much earlier, maybe about a month. Insomnia may be immediate. Very easy to use, it allowed me to wake up finally and experimented several times not taking it after I had established a better morning routine and would essentially be back to my useless state. This showed me it definitely was having effects. It didn’t feel as though I lost any part of myself while on it, but rather there was a bit extra. This leads me to my major negative, which was my increased aggression and overall emotional shortness. It became irrational while driving. Despite this, still better than being a lifeless blob."

For Major Depressive Disorder "I am a 30 y/o woman. I’ve used it off and on for years now for my MDD. It is effective, and it definitely gives me drive again, however, I get a bunch of side effects, the worst being the insomnia, anger, and complete loss of sexual drive/feeling. I also experience painful stomach cramps that kill my appetite and loss of thirst bad enough my lips are always cracked. I experienced dizziness for maybe the first year. Happens sporadically now."

For Smoking Cessation "Was taking Wellbutrin XL 150 mg once a day. I started taking this drug for what was thought to be mild anxiety (which was from caffeine withdrawal) and to quit smoking. The first few weeks were okay (probably because my body was getting used to the lack of caffeine). After a while, I began to feel really anxious due to physical symptoms I felt: ringing in my ears, trouble sleeping, lack of memory and attention, reflux, constipation, hemorrhoids, heart flutters, constant trembling, extreme anger and the inability to calm down, fear of being alone, and constant fear of dying. I have been off of the medicine for 7 days and feel great. Pay attention to any symptoms you feel and tell your doctor."

Bupropion for Depression "Every time my wife is prescribed this med, she becomes aggressive and ignores facts. She stops interacting with me and seeks distance. This poison is ruining a 40-year marriage and destroying our family. When she stops taking it, she slowly returns to her normal self, but her Dr. convinces her she needs it, and the cycle starts all over again. Bad drug for some."

Bupropion for Depression "I have been on 150 XL and feel horrible. It's almost like I'm tripping on LSD. Foggy head, angry, cranky, and very irritable. Heart palpitations, and it makes me very lethargic. Dr. recommended taking it at night, and it's a tiny bit better. I want to stick with it to see if it gets me to a better emotional state, but don't know if I can last. How long before I start feeling better?"

For Depression "I have been on the generic version of bupropion for 3 weeks. I did have headaches the first week, however, I began to notice I felt like getting up and out of bed in the mornings and, more importantly, on my days off. Before this, I would spend all day in bed on my days off and had no desire to go out and do anything. I do occasionally have a difficult time sleeping, and I have noticed I get aggravated or irritated at things more than usual, but it’s controllable. Overall, I like that it has made me feel like getting up and having a life again. I hope the few side effects will eventually go away."

Bupropion for Depression "I went into this endeavor quite excited, knowing that there would be some compromises as always, and I was ready to trade. But this drug took away everything for itself. I was taking Zoloft and, upon me complaining about feeling well but not being motivated (probably I got used to SSRIs a little bit) to get my butt up and get stuff done, smoking 1.5 packs/day. Of course, to combat SSRI SD, we agreed on trying Welloft (Z 75mg - W 150mg). I've been taking Wellbutrin for exactly 20 days, and it's been a big disappointment. I definitely intend to take it for 2 months and know for sure if it's for me or not — not a day longer! Increased anxiety, aggression, appetite, insomnia, difficulty concentrating, and short-term memory issues, worse depression, chest pain, headache. Severe climbing anxiety till it peaked at day 8, then I would have a bad one sporadically. I would consider myself almost impotent now. I remember Paxil days with a smile. Will update if anything changes at the 2-month mark."

Bupropion for Depression "I take Seroquel 50 mg in the am and 150 mg at bedtime. I take Clonazepam 1/2 mg in the am and 1 mg at 3:00. And I take 150 mg of Wellbutrin XL in the am. Seroquel helps me fall asleep. Clonazepam (Klonopin) gets rid of some anxiety. But I feel awful, always fatigued, depressed, irritable, moody, lonely, quick to anger, and self-non-social. My psychiatrist said, “There’s no magic pill, take a walk outside.” I have no desire to talk to people, never mind going outside. What am I supposed to do?"

Bupropion for Depression "I have had depression and anxiety for about 5 years. I was taking Zoloft for most of those, and I felt like it kept me stabilized. I have gained about 50 pounds in the last 5 years. I started thinking about it, and it all started around the time I started taking medication, so I thought maybe this whole time that was the reason. Someone recommended this medicine for weight loss, so I told my doctor, and we decided to give it a try. For 4 weeks, I was on 150 mg. I felt miserable, angry, always fighting with my family, more depressed than ever, hopeless, etc. I told my doctor, and she suggested upping the dose for another 4-6 weeks to see if that improves everything. I've been taking the higher dose for about 3 weeks. I've been balling my eyes out. I can't even go into my house without feeling an overwhelming wave of depression hit me. I feel like I can't spend a minute alone. I feel angry all the time. I think this medicine has pretty much been bad for me and will be talking to the doctor again."

After I took the maximum dosage, which caused constipation for weeks and made me terribly depressed and angry. I got off the entire dosage and felt nicer and less depressed in a few days! This medicine made me into a monster."
