"I am a 53-year-old woman. I have struggled with depression probably since my 20s. I would go to my family doctor, and she would prescribe an antidepressant, it wouldn't work, and I would be given another one to try. This went on for many years. Until 3 days before Christmas last year, I had a major breakdown, and my husband took me to the hospital crisis unit. There I met my psychiatrist! Thank God! After talking with him, he prescribed Bupropion XL 150 mg once a day. I have been taking it now for approximately 1 month. It didn't seem to be doing much for me (or so I thought) until this week. It just seemed like a heavy fog has been lifted! I'm hoping each day will get better and better."

"I have had depression as long as I can remember. I went to my doctor, and he prescribed me Prozac. I honestly vaguely even remember anything about that, which was one of the symptoms: forgetfulness. It was really bad, so I got off of it and got prescribed Lexapro. All that did was make me sleep 24/7, so again I got off of that and finally was prescribed Bupropion 150 mg. The symptoms in the beginning weren't too bad, and within about two weeks, I began feeling like a human being again. It literally felt like a huge weight had been lifted off me. :) The only symptom I seem to have that's really bothersome is it gives me really bad insomnia. Other than that, it's great. I'm proud to say I've been on it almost a year now, and it's definitely improved my life. :)"

"This has been the only antidepressant that works for me. I have suffered most of my life from anxiety and depression. Before taking this, I was obsessed with time, would ruminate constantly, pending a sense of doom, no motivation, and just tired. I used to be addicted to Adderall, meth, and once I stopped, I became a compulsive snacker. This medicine helped me lose 50+ pounds by helping me get up to exercise, not overeat, or obsess over food. It helps me be my best self, and I no longer wake up dreading the day. I take 450 mg: 150 mg + 300 mg."

"My experience taking it was a lifesaver. It really helped me. I used to really feel down in the dumps, and it's really helped me come to be my real self. I used to hide behind being fake and just let people walk on me, putting me in a deeper depression. This saved my life."

"I have been on bupropion XL 300 for 5 days. The first day I had great energy levels but felt weird. Day 2-4 I have had bad anxiety, no appetite, and not sleeping well. Day 5 today seems to be a better day. I still have energy, which is good, and anxiety seems to be diminishing. And if I lose a few pounds, I won't be sad. I'm sure it will take weeks to get to where I need to be, hoping for the best and just trying to ride it out. Any advice?"

"I was on bupropion for 4 months. It was somewhat effective for my MDD and helped some aspects of my ADHD a little bit (primarily ones associated with depression, like overeating and motivation). Side effects when starting were quite intense, and I noticed slight increases in suicidal ideation. I got off of it because of concerns of other medications interacting and cross-tapered to Zoloft (which I found totally ineffective and potentially made things worse). Side effects were the most problematic aspect of Budeprion."

"I started off with 150 mg, then went up to 300 mg after 4 days. Within the first 4 days, I started having mood swings. I'd be angry one minute, cry the next, and then I'd be fine. After two weeks, the mood swings decreased a bit, but I started to space out and began to experience some significant short-term memory loss. I had no recollection of conversations that I had just completed minutes before, couldn't recall where I put something I had in my hand just a few minutes prior, etc. When my family started to voice concerns about my odd behavior, I stopped taking it. I was on it for about 3 weeks. Scary."

"Generic was not working for me at all. 100% difference with the brand name. In fact, went through several generics, nothing was working until I started taking the brand name. Now I do not have insurance and cannot afford it. I had a discount card. I would have paid $5, but you had to have insurance."
