"TRD for 40 years. Tried numerous SSRIs, 2 SNRIs, and many adjuncts with minimal to no relief. Have been on Auvelity for a little over a week (1 pill daily) and have noticed my depression is almost gone and have much more energy and find joy in life again. My anxiety has improved but is still present. Going to give it more time and if need be go up to 1 pill twice a day. Overall very satisfied."

"I have been on Auvelity for 8 days. Advised to take one a day for 3 days and then 2 a day. Side effects are bearable; constipation, agitation (when it starts to wear off), sweating, fuzziness (brain fog). I feel “lighter”, I laugh more, I feel generally content. Around day 4, I started to get an anxiety attack in the afternoon but was able to ward it off. I almost stopped taking it but decided to muscle through. I am glad I did. Although it’s been a short time, I am very optimistic about this medication. I have been on several other antidepressants in the past and none have proven effective so I pretty much gave in to the fact there was nothing out there for me. Unlike most of the reviews I have read about this drug, I have never been diagnosed with MDD. I just happened upon this medication after seeing a commercial for it and my doctor prescribed it for me. It works incredibly quickly compared to other meds I've had. Don't give up, you will find something that works for you too!"

For Major Depressive Disorder "For reference, I’ve been on Wellbutrin and Effexor for several years. I stopped the Wellbutrin when starting Auvelity and I just started weaning off the Effexor this weekend, so it’s too early to tell. However, since I do feel “lighter” already, I’m hopeful. The first couple of days at the full dose caused some dizziness and mania about two hours after taking, but both have decreased. I took the second dose a little later last night, and now I feel extreme fatigue, so I’m going to be more diligent about taking it earlier. The doctor said the side effects should go away soon, so I’ll update here. Again, I’m hopeful!"

For Major Depressive Disorder "After 6 days, I feel less depressed & have more energy. I hope I can stay on Auvelity because I do have side effects of diarrhea with abdominal pain & an increase in tinnitus. I am taking 1 tablet a day."

"I have been on this medication for 2 weeks and feel better and happier than I have in many years. I have a lot of energy and positive thoughts and actions. I am a much nicer person to be around. I have hope that as long as I take this medication, I will not go back into the black hole of despair and hopelessness. I have asked my husband to keep a check on me and let me know if I am acting strangely. Also, I am having trouble getting my insurance to pay for the medication, but I have a preauthorization in progress."

For Major Depressive Disorder "I started Auvelity a few days ago. Some background information about me is that I’m on 450 mg of Wellbutrin and 40 mg of Lexapro. Unfortunately, the Wellbutrin or the Lexapro isn’t helping. I’ve been on Wellbutrin for 4 years and Lexapro for 3 years. My question is, have any of you been on Wellbutrin and switched to Auvelity? Doc switched me to one Wellbutrin per day, along with two Auvelity per day. If any of you have had the same experience with this same combination, I’d love to hear about it. I’m curious since Auvelity and Wellbutrin have bupropion in it. Thanks!"

For Major Depressive Disorder "This medication has changed my life. I was scared to try it after so many bad experiences, but it began working in only 30 minutes on Day 1. My anxiety lifted. Dark thoughts were simply not there. After a month, I began taking two per day, and that is the magic number. Now I laugh at my husband’s bad jokes, am eager to start my days, and (most importantly of all) can paint again. The only negative side effect has been a worsening of the ability to read fine print. But I’ll take that over depression any day. Oh—add the cost. I’m not eligible for Auvelity’s discounts because I’m on Medicare. I had to find a plan that had a low out-of-pocket cost for the year ($2,000)."

"I've been taking aripiprazole 10 mg and lamotrigine 300 mg for bipolar, but I need to add in an antidepressant, so my doctor recommended Auvelity. I've been on it about a week now and am 3 days into the higher dose. I've had fatigue, lightheadedness, tiredness, tingling skin, jaw clenching, and vision problems as side effects. After taking a dose, I usually feel somewhere between tipsy and drunk, which isn't good while you are working. Still, underneath all the side effects, I can feel that it's working. I don't have suicidal thoughts, I don't have intrusive thoughts, and I'm generally calmer. I'm going to stick this out for a little bit as I feel like I'm not far enough into the higher dose to decide to come off of it. I've been fortunate in that I haven't had insomnia (quite the reverse), but I haven't experienced the change in energy or motivation yet. I'm hopeful, however."

For Major Depressive Disorder "It has really helped with my depression, and I have been taking it for almost a week, so it’s fast acting. However, the side effects are making me want to stop taking it. I have chest pain, jaw pain, dizziness, horrible headache, excess sweating, vision changes, shortness of breath, and I almost pass out every time I stand up. I’ve continued taking it, though, in hopes that the side effects will subside because it has drastically improved my mental health, and I no longer have suicidal ideation. I love everything about it aside from the side effects."

"Auvelity after 7 weeks is causing my heart to pound, to race, and to skip beats. I have severe dizziness and have fallen several times. I may have to go off it, but it has improved my mental health quite a bit. I am very worried about these issues with my heart, though, as I am over 70. Has anyone else had these heart rate issues? What did you do about continuing or discontinuing the medication?"

For Major Depressive Disorder "Started taking this medicine 6 days ago. It started making a difference today because I usually wake up around 3:30 ruminating and very depressed. This morning was much better. I didn't have the negative thoughts as bad and could let go of the rumination. However, after my second dose today, I'm super dizzy and irritable, so I'm hoping that goes away. I had a great day today, and I think it may be working, just not sure if the dizziness is from this medicine or the discontinuation of my Lexapro."

"I wanted to leave my review here for anyone who might benefit. I've had severe OCD and PTSD! The OCD was from the beginning but just got worse as I got older. The PTSD started at age 8 after severe trauma. All of this led to suicidal depression and 3 attempts. I have taken literally any drug you can name with no relief. I was very reluctant to even try yet another 'anti-depressant', especially after learning how expensive it was and thinking that Medicaid would not cover it. I bought the first month for $1,100. This next part is where I truly hope I can help someone. I honestly had more side effects with this drug than any before. BUT even though the side effects continued, I very quickly began to feel better! The side effects continued for a long time with me. Having insomnia was really horrible. After paying for this, I learned that Medicaid would cover it with prior approval. As another person said, this is truly a treatment for PTSD. Unfortunately, not so much for OCD for me."

For Major Depressive Disorder "After the fourth day, I developed a violent cough. My doctor instructed me to stop taking the medication, but the frequent dry cough persisted for 2 months. I was previously prescribed Wellbutrin 20 years ago, which at that time was the best drug for me and lasted for 13 years before it stopped working."

"Great! I started in 1977 on lots of Elavil and then Triavil (sic), which was the amitriptyline with a small amount of a phenothiazine derivative attached. They really dried you out so that I had to use fleets enemas very often. This would just drag me through major depressions that would last 6-8 months. The manic phases would be blunted by lithium carbonate if my was high enough. For me, this required 1800-2400 mgs per day. I had three hospitalizations with inpatient and outpatient ECTs. Once I became a follower of Christ, I had ammo (scripture) in order to fight back and never had to be hospitalized again. After about 1984, I had a respite for a goodly time. I had looked to new meds like trazodone, which did not work better, they just had fewer side effects. Later on, I was benefited greatly by the SSRIs with atypical antipsychotics like Seroquel. Sometimes it felt like my mood was just hanging in there. Auvelity was a real game changer."

For Major Depressive Disorder "I was on one Auvelity a day (45mg) even though the doctor had prescribed two a day for me. About 8 months after taking one a day, I felt my depression getting worse, so I told my doctor I would take two, his original prescription dosage. Two and a half to three weeks later, I have been experiencing much increased anxiety, feelings of discomfort and restlessness/nervousness, extreme agitation and fear. I did not know what was wrong with me until I decided to look up Auvelity side effects, which is why I will be going back to one tomorrow and calling my doctor. Another disappointment from the medical community that causes more problems."

For Major Depressive Disorder "I took this medication for 2 months. It did seem to improve my depressive symptoms within the first 72 hours of starting! However, I noticed that my feet were swelling. It got to the point where my left foot and ankle were constantly swollen. I didn't think it had anything to do with this medication, so I continued to take this while I worked with my primary care to figure out what was causing the edema. There were no answers, so I decided to stop Auvelity, and within 48 hours the swelling was gone. I have since stopped taking this medication due to my personal reaction."

"I only started taking Auvelity yesterday for treatment-resistant depression. Currently going through TMS now, trying to avoid Spravato. Don’t like the feeling of being disassociated, my doctor said give it a week, but I just feel flat, yucky, like I’m just here. My coordination is off and very irritable, it’s weird to explain. You feel loopy but not euphoric. I finally just got off Lamictal. I take Seroquel to sleep, and now one Auvelity. I have my Ativan for anxiety but haven’t needed it. Been diagnosed with PTSD, GAD, and TRD. I’m going to see how it goes. I’ve been on everything in 22 years and nothing has worked. Will check in again in a few weeks."

For Major Depressive Disorder "This tablet is used for adult major depression only, and do not drink coffee. Also, avoid tobacco products because it caused me movement problems after having coffee or tobacco products. It treats only depression. I have taken it twice daily, with fixed dosages that cannot be increased, otherwise, it will cause unwanted side effects like hallucinations, seizures, movement problems, etc. Overall, it is very safe and considered a miracle drug for some adult people."

"Auvelity helped the depression in less than 24 hours, literally. I started noticing bruxism (clenching and grinding my molars) the first week, and it has continued after 3 months. My jaws are sore from doing it all my waking hours. I have psoriasis, and it's worse than it has ever been. I also have trichotillomania (ugh), and it is way worse. I'm pulling from places I've never pulled from. The 'trich zits' are popping up all over my scalp. I love not being depressed, but I don't know how much longer I can take this exacerbation. It's a catch-22. Taking a beta blocker (metoprol) for 15 months caused severe depression. My heart doc took me off of it, and within a month, I began to not be so depressed, but my PCP wanted me to try Auvelity anyway."

For Major Depressive Disorder "I started taking Auvelity as a supplement to my antidepressant as I became resistant to treatment. At first, I took one a day. I didn’t see much difference. So, my doc switched to 2 a day. I think it helped. But I started having a very dry mouth. It is affecting me, and I am not sure what to do about that."

For Major Depressive Disorder "It does really help for MDD, but I don't think you can take it for more than one year because it increases dopamine levels over time, and it will cause you some unwanted side effects like weakness, seizures, OCD, etc. So now I am planning to stop completely because after stopping, I feel very well."

For Major Depressive Disorder "I’ve been on Auvelity twice a day for about 6 months now, and although it has helped me tremendously, I started having an abnormal amount of vaginal discharge that started a couple of weeks after taking it and hasn’t stopped. I’ve been checked for everything and ruled everything else out, and even going down to 1 pill a day has only decreased the discharge by only a small amount. Is anyone else having this issue? I wouldn’t mind if it were normal discharge, but it’s slightly tinted (as is the medication), so it makes me very self-conscious."

For Major Depressive Disorder "Shame on the drug manufacturer for charging $1,100 a fill for a two-combo drug of a pennies-on-the-dollar cough syrup ingredient teenagers get high on and has been around for 70 years, and a subtherapeutic dose of relatively cheap Wellbutrin, which has been around as of 2025 for its 40th FDA approval anniversary, and calling this combo a miracle new breakthrough. Shame on them. This shouldn't cost more than $50 if that, considering a GoodRx and Google search revealed a 30-day supply of 150 mg bupropion, which is a slightly higher dose than in Auvelity, the cheapest being $6.75, and an over-the-counter pack of cough syrup with dextromethorphan is $10. Wellbutrin is a stimulant, and the cough syrup is a euphoria-inducing agent. Neither are new breakthroughs worthy of an $1,100 a month price tag just because they're in one pill."

For Major Depressive Disorder "I just started taking this medication a few days ago and woke up every morning with severe anxiety, and my blood pressure skyrocketed. If you have been diagnosed with hypertension, I wouldn’t recommend you take this. Wellbutrin alone had worked for me in the past as far as my energy levels and depression but gave me bad anxiety and made me sweat more than usual, which increased my body odor, so I stopped taking it. The only reason I started Auvelity was to help with my fatigue, which seemed to help in the past, but I can’t deal with the anxiety it gives me in the mornings. Will have to stop. One of the major benefits is my sexual desire has improved. My doctor added this medication along with Viibryd, which I was already on, which has sexual dysfunction. Altogether, I would give it a 6 out of 10. Would recommend it if you don’t have hypertension or anxiety."
